I know I know, there are loads of posts about dorms here on this subreddit. I’ve looked at them don’t worry, but I would like to hear from people who’ve lived in dorms the past few years. I’m outgoing and social and I’d like to go to the occasional party, but I’d like a tight-knit community and I’m a biochem major and very focused on my studies. I was looking at Waters for location but I’m concerned about the bug problem in the Lakeshore dorms and am wondering if Southeast might be a better fit anyways if I want a social atmosphere. I’m pretty cleanly, so there’s that too. I appreciate any info! :)

I feel like i’m a little underpaid (65k) compared to the average entry level salary here in the southeast (ATL). I want to job hop for more pay but am worried about being one of the first to be laid off if this economy continues to spiral downward. Am i right in feeling its a bit risky to job hop in this economy?

Just throwing ideas around, might start schooling at southeast tech and I’m trying to keep down costs as the campus housing is full anyhow. (Fall next year, around August.)
Thinking about 2 bed 2 bath, garage, in unit laundry, all the works pretty much. Looks like split 50/50 rent would be in the ballpark of 500-600 to cover all of that and be within 20 minutes of the school (traffic included)
I’m a 18yr male, big car guy, headed into school for collision repair and refinish. I’d prefer someone who’s also attending southeast but around my age with a good financial record or proof of ability to pay wouldn’t be an issue.
Also open to suggestions and ideas for living in the area and how to go through college as effectively as possible without going broke 😂. Thank you!

Within 8 weeks I've turned 18, been diagnosed with BPD, stopped smoking weed & drinking, provided 24/7 end of life care to my grand-dad until he passed on, fought my parents to protect his wishes & not revoke/destroy his Do Not Resuscitate order, passed my EMT national registry exam on the first try, arranged my grandads funeral stuff & wrote his obituary after he passed, was the foreperson on a sequestered jury for a 1st degree murder case, had my first break up, dropped out of high school, did my GED, completed a DBT IOP program, started outpatient therapy, moved out of my parents, got hired on an ambulance service, and worked my first prehospital cardiac arrest as an EMT.
Holy shit I'm so drained and overwhelmed. Never had suicidal thoughts like this before. I'm safe and won't do anything. Just never felt this bad before. I miss being 17 and not having any of this on my plate.

I lost my grandfather and I absolutely am not good time. I just want to move on. That's all. Funerals, obituaries, and all that. It doesn't help me. It actually makes it worse. Like flat out dreading it. Seeing my family at the time of writing this is basically hell. Then you got folks saying "think of happy memories" and I see that as nothing but Cliché, unhelpful Hallmark card bullshit that does the exact opposite of what you want. It doesn't make me feel better. I actually feel worse when someone suggests that and I try it. Does not wanting to see your family and all that normal, or at least make me a jerk? Even if it brings people comfort, I just think about the death and feel like total crap

I don't understand why Facebook doesn't just block these from happening. These kinds of posts appear on major Facebook pages (the below was on WeatherNation, a semi-nationwide cable TV channel, on a story about the southeast tornado outbreak), but I've seen very similar on our State Police's webpage....every post they make has one or more of these types of comments. The ones on their page are usually like the second comment, and it's a wee[.]so shorter that looks like a YouTube page.
Even when reported as spam, the comments don't get pulled down. The FB spam report lists one of the rule violations as spam that takes the user away from FB with a 3rd party link. That's what this is?!! The text is nearly or completely identical...it should be super easy for FB to automatically block that comment.

so tomorrow i leave for my dream trip. for years I've been planning, saving and setting up my life for some longer term solo travel. I've done a good amount of travelling before but for like 2 weeks at a time. this time I'm going 5-6 months, a little bit of Europe but mostly southeast Asia. I'll be solo for about 2/3 of the trip.
I'm in this weird limbo between excited and anxious.
the nomad dream started maybe 8 years ago, it became realistic 2 years ago, and here i am now about to go. it almost doesn't seem real.
the dream of this has been such a big part of my life for so many years that's it's weird saying goodbye to a huge chapter of my life
i know once i get going it'll be awesome. but I'm the only person In my life to do something like this haha, so i guess I'm posting here to get encouragment from you guys
