I’m a 15 year old male and I’ve played destiny for almost 2 years now and with 2000 hours under my belt I thought I’d give some thoughts.
Destiny has changed my life it is one of the most fun, unique and interesting shooter I’ve played since Star Wars Battlefront II it keeps my hooked with incentive, story ( even though most of the time I have no clue what’s going on ) and changes that keep the game healthy. Despite all of this I would hardly say it’s a perfect game, for starters the new light system is atrocious and didn’t teach me anything at the start of my journey as a guardian I’m surprised I’m still playing to this day. I have had several friends that I know would love destiny if they gave it time quit it because the new light quest is so boring and teaches you nothing. Next issue I have is balance changes they take years to come around like chromatic fire was one of the worst exotics for warlocks before the buff that happens only two weeks ago when that exotic got a great rework, my point is that at least 40% if most exotics in destiny are on life support and I always find myself and most other people to be running the same things all the time, hunters what do you run in a dps phase let me guess star-eater scales. One last complaint removing old content or sunsetting it , this is the worst idea in history like I don’t play season of the seraph because I took a breath from destiny but I did buy the annual pass for witch queen so I’ve payed for the content but will never be able to play it?
This game is incredible though all of the subclasses despite being complex and unappealing to the new player all feel amazing each feel different but still sticks to the identity of the class. Enemy design and raid mechanics are like no other game in a good way and I love doing almost all the raid mechanics and killing enemies gives me a great dopamine rush. This game is an 8/10 for me. I didn’t talk about servers or the engine in this discussion because I know nothing about them and therefore shouldn’t have an opinion on it.

We’ve just moved into the country and I’m a little confused about what to do when kids ask for playdates here. It’s happened twice so far, a kid knows my kid, takes me to a parent and says I’d like to have a play date, then poof, kid runs off and im left to…… meet and greet the parent? Actually set up a future playdate? What’s the expectation?
This first time was at school and I think the parent is planning on exchanging numbers next time we see each other? (Or maybe they were just being polite?) the second time it was at the botanical gardens play area and I had no idea who the young child was.
Im not even used to being allowed to enter my child’s school grounds without showing ID and signing in so it’s a bit new for me to see so many adults in one place with their kids so I apologize in advance if this is a very dumb question.

You know, for anyone that's a fan of metal/hard rock you get so disappointed anytime anyone brings up Nickelback.. Paul Marshall (NeanderPaul) will never admit to being at that concert in 2003/4 but I will say I saw him at Finger Eleven/Puddle of Mudd/Nickelback at Sacramento Valley Amphitheater in 2003/2004 during the Long Road Tour and that was my first ever metal/hard rock concert... and they damn near lit the stage of fire with the massive amounts of flame in their stage show.. Even first row of seats in the 200 section you could feel the heat coming off of it.. LOL Chad was staring at me standing there in my red West Coast Choppers shirt and black WCC hat, all 6'3 of me.. I thought some chick was topless behind me :D Damn if only I could go to concerts now.. (I'm 6'10 now... on a good day) I gotta say, it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to, probably second only to Metallica at ARCO Arena. *sigh what could've been if Nickelback would've focused on making good music instead of money and pussy.

I recently went on a great hiking date with a guy, so great we decided to get dinner afterwards and the date lasted the entire day. He asked on the date if I wanted to see him again and I said yes, and he agreed. He text the next day asking where we should meet up for our second meeting and I said I didn’t mind as I’d chosen the first location. To avoid other errors that I discovered earlier I do:

Hello, Graduated end of last year with a cs degree from a top uni in Australia. I graduated with a good wam, but no internships or work experience. Since graduating I have been applying to graduate roles in software with no luck, only landed one interview and that went nowhere. Recently I have been applying to other jobs in tech because Im starting to feel the pressure to find something. After the first place I applied for, I got an offer at a small IT/MDM company where I would basically be a help desk IT guy at 65k per year and now I’m really not sure. On one hand, I’m really not confident on actually landing something in software engineering by next year given how it’s gone so far. Im also not sure what the career progression is like in IT because I don’t think I want to be stuck in help desk for years and years. Also worried how it might make it really hard to pivot into software later if i wanted to, since grad programs wouldn’t be available for me and I don’t really have the experience for a junior role. On the other hand, a job is a job and I’d probably somewhat enjoy the work. Also with the increasingly large time on my resume where im just working casually, it probably wont do me any favours for future roles if I dont take this opportunity and then dont find anything this year. Anyone got any thoughts or advice for me?

I've really gotten into indoor rowing over the last few months as a form of exercise, pretty much my dominant form - apart from work (I walk dogs). It certainly beats indoor cycling as a whole-body workout. But I struggle socially, and don't really have people I connect with even in IRL. So it's often hard to be inspired or to share what's happening at times. The times I do its often with just feeling like I'm on the outside looking in as it were.
I come to really enjoy using the realtime loop in ErgData - it's great to have other people around you (even if only virtually), and it really becomes 'alive' when there's a rare person on there with a similar pace to me (currently around the 2:15/2:30 mark, but then I am a shorty and still relatively new haha). Most of the time I'm just pacing myself, a bot or watching people blast past at a pace I can only dream of... And the very very rare time I can get past someone else :D
But there's no options in the realtime loop to connect or partner with people.
I notice in the online logbook there's the Logbook Mail, and training partners, but I can't figure a way to see how that works for people without having IRL connections. I joined a team and affiliation, but they seem to just be a label, a group to contribute metres towards. That's cool and all, but everyone's a stranger to me.
So for a lonely person like me, how can indoor rowing become more social? Is it unrealistic to expect to get some online friendships going out of a love for this activity?
Any insights would be appreciated.

I'm looking for a lightweight headset that features an embedded microphone (similar to what sony WH-1000XM4 has) and also that I can make calls and listen to music at the same time, so it cannot be bluetooth because if I'm speaking to my friends over discord the game's sound will be very bad.
My current gear is a corsair virtuoso, it fits my needs but lately I found it too uncomfortable if I spend too much time with it (too heavy), and also I'm tired of having a microphone in front of my mouth.
I tried to search for these "specs" but without success, the close I got was this Logitech G733, but the reviews said that the sound quality wasn't very good, and also it has the microphone that I'm trying to avoid.
Also, I'm open to other suggestions on how to deal with it, I thought about having a desk microphone, but then I want some suggestions on good lightweight wireless headphones. If, in all cases, there is no good wireless option, then I'm thinking to go with my WH-1000XM4 using the P3 cable.

So this was back when I used to smoke and one night I went outside and in the sky I noticed a REALLY bright red light… like significantly brighter than anything I’d ever seen in the sky, let alone any plane
Then this this just went zoomed across the sky to the left and just stopped.. there were planes in the sky at the time and it moved significantly faster than anything in the sky
In fact when in went over to the left it only moved back over to the right when a plane started approaching it’s direction
It then went back to its original spot or somewhere in that original area and then it eventually just went straight down vertically in the distance
And no.. I don’t think it was a drone, it seemed hella far away, big and like I said, the brightest thing I’ve ever seen in the sky
I wish I still had the picture I took of it.. it was so bright even on my shitty phone.. if I tried to take a picture of a regular plane in the sky I probably would have struggled capturing the reds lights of those planes but I remember it looking even bright in the picture

I’m a practicing Stoic and also a PhD candidate in computer science.
A lot of the literature which I read about AI safety and AI alignment assumes a kind of hedonistic utilitarianism. That is, the author wants us to build robots which will maximise pleasure and minimise pains in humans.
I think these approaches are incredibly short-sighted, since a general AI might minimise human pains by painlessly killing all humans, or might maximise human pleasure (measured by the amount of electrical activity in our brain’s pleasure centres) by dosing us all with stimulant drugs.
Clearly, applying utilitarian ethics to AIs is a serious safety risk.
I’m trying to apply Stoic ethics to AIs but I’m finding it difficult to do so. As a human, I can be ethical by cultivating virtues in myself: that is, I must be kind, compassionate, logical, honest, brave etc. These things rely on human intuition about what these values are, but it’s quite difficult to define them clearly in objective terms that an AI might understand.
So I wanted to ask other Stoics what they think: can virtues be taught to machines? Could an AI be virtuous if it emulated Stoic virtues perfectly? How might we go about specifying virtues in an unambiguous, objective way?

(I’m not a life coach, I promise, lol.) 2) Baking, growing various plants, and cooking are three things that make me feel joyous, calm, and free. 3) I’m taking a break from farming and I’m excited to get back to it. 4) I describe myself as “leftist” and spend a lot of time in political and policy spaces. I won’t argue politics with you but I’d love to hear your perspective. I’m also okay with not talking about politics at all. 5) Movies, shows, and conversations are primary sources of entertainment for me right now. 6) I love learning! 7) I’ve been getting deeper into metal, screamo, and a blend of rap and rock lately. Please feel free to share recommendations. (Other genres welcomed and appreciated.) 8) I love talking on the phone/video chatting with people and can talk for hours. (Texting is not really for me.)
