The SEC filed a complaintaccusing the digital payment network of selling unregistered securities back in December 2020. That case is still pending.
âAssuming that these complaints stand up in court, I donât think that thereâs a scenario in which Coinbase or Binance â particularly Binance â become compliant,â (Molly) White says. âThe business model of cryptocurrency in general and cryptocurrency platforms really relies on not abiding by the regulations that are in place.â Their business model is âregulatory arbitrageâ: using loopholes or structuring their companies in countries with friendly crypto regulations. FTX, for example, was headquartered in the Bahamas. One possible scenario here is that the lawsuits could culminate in Binance ceasing operations in the US, and Coinbase shutting down entirely.

At first, it was a disappointment, a minor setback. But as the months rolled on, our disappointment turned into fear. Promised jobs weren't happening. The big company kept pushing back our start dates, never giving us a clear picture of when things would get going. The wait was killing us, and our dreams were getting buried in a sea of confusion and uncertainty.
This wasn't how it was supposed to be. We'd done our part. We'd studied hard, got good grades, and snagged job offers. But now, we were stuck, jobless and scared. Every day, the news showed companies laying off workers and the economy sinking further. It felt like there were no jobs left for us.
But we didn't just sit there and give up. We started scrambling. We took up online courses, tried networking, and even considered odd jobs. We were ready to take anything that came our way. We were prepared to fight tooth and nail, not just to earn, but to keep learning and growing.
