2023.06.10 13:21 One_Dot4348 1 week DIY ketochow

Man, I am so thankful that I found the DIY ketochow recipe. I have wanted to try ketochow for a while, but due to where I live, shipping costs were quite prohibitive.
Ordered up all the supplies I need and mixed up 2 weeks of powder. Been drinking it for 1 week now. Doing well. I was already keto for about a month, but wanted to get a bit more serious with more control over numbers.
Since I started keto about 5 weeks ago, I am down 9kgs and feeling pretty good. This is my 2nd run at keto, previously I did keto for a year and lost 30 or 35kgs. Then some crap happened and life got in the way. I decided to start again because of the benefits.
Not only do I feel better, but while keto my asthma goes away. I have been on steroidal inhalers since 2013 and regular inhalers since elementary school. But while keto, I can stop my meds and have no breathing problems. It's such a life changer.
My plan is to continue exclusively drinking ketochow for at least another week and reevaluate. After that, if I decide to reintroduce food, it will be mostly on weekends. I am quite busy at work so ketochow for lunch and dinners on work days is just a lifesend.
I do want to reintroduce food on the weekends mostly because I do love cooking. So I want to get back into cooking healthy keto friendly foods as well as fermentation.
Anyways, glad to see such a wonderful community here and a huge thanks to the Ketochow company for posting up the diy version for us international people. 😊

2023.06.10 13:20 Natsouppy Need advice on how to handle this disagreement with my husband

We have a 6.5 month old who usually takes her first nap around 9:30/10 am. My husband wants to set aside a day to put in a new side door with the help of his friend. For reference, we have a very small ranch home. Here’s where the problem is. My husband wants to start working on it at 8 am. His friend would be bringing over his 7 year old daughter, who always has to talk to and bother our baby. I told my husband, absolutely not to 8 am. I said why don’t you start around 10 once she is already down? I run white noise in her room during naps. It doesn’t block out all the noise from the house but it does a decent job. My husband said no way in hell he can start ā€œthat lateā€ at 10. The first nap of the day is crucial for her and ultimately I would be the one stuck with a cranky baby (I have a birthday party to take her to that afternoon) and I would be the one stuck with the friend’s 7 year old daughter distracting my baby from falling asleep. What would you do or say?

2023.06.10 13:18 HappySpaceInvdr Bass tone without any distortion?

Bass tone without any distortion?
I've just got a Pod Go, primarily for guitar, but I also have a Spector Pulse II bass with active circuitry.
And please bear in mind I'm brand new to the Line 6, and have never used anything similar before (except Amplitube).
On the Line 6, I'm struggling to get a clean bass sound with no distortion... partly because I'm faced with an overwhelming number of amplifier names I don't recognise at all, with way more control settings than you find on a real amp.
And so, I think key to this is understanding those amp settings properly.
Drive, Mid, Treble Bass, Presence... ok fine, as per a real amp, but...
  • Ch Vol versus master - I'm not sure what the difference is, and/or what that balance should be?
  • Sag, Hum, Ripple, Bias, Bias X... WTF?
  • Depth, Bright... maybe these should be obvious to me, but "depth" is normally something you get via EQ and Presence, and how is "bright" different to treble?
If there's a reference guide to all of this, I'd really like a copy, but I'm reaching out here because experience alweays beats knowledge.
Specifically, the sound I'm after is something close to my Orange Crush Bass 50 amp (settings in pic, but essentially no gain, and EQ settings all on their middle position).

2023.06.10 13:18 FirelordDerpy Hunters and Cooks

ā€œWe won’t be able to stop every act of terror, we won’t be able to throw ourselves in the way and stop every global disaster, but our Republic has the will to do so and it will try regardless.ā€
"EVIC News. Hunters and Cooks, Reports by Ostrosim Vonsky" \Bold text on the screen**
\voiceover** ā€œWe are currently on Stend four in the Zygerrian camp and the mood is excitedā€ \A drone camera sweeps over a camp made of multiple deployed MEOs forming a ring around a series of campfires with cooking equipment set up above them.** ā€œThe smell is incredible!ā€ \The Camera shifts to Vonsky walking around the bustling camp.** ā€œThis place has been a non-stop hive of activity ever since they arrived, every night a party and you can seeā€¦ā€ \The Camera shifts to a Balmorran soldier and Zygerrian staggering by laughing together with frothy mugs in their hands.** ā€œ.... The party seems to be contagious.ā€
*The Camera swaps to Senator Beltane, tired and in a disheveled uniform, but wearing an optimistic smile for the first time in a while.\* ā€œThis is a moment of great rejoice, for not just us here but the entire Galactic Republic. It may seem to like a small thing to have mobilized at such forces for, but for the folk who live here at Stend IV, it is no laughing matter. We won’t be able to stop every act of terror, we won’t be able to throw ourselves in the way and stop every global disaster, but our Republic has the will to do so and it will try regardless. I am proud that I was able to be the voice for this planet here and would like to thank everyone who came to aid when I in turn called for Help. Of special note, thank you Vice Chancellor Fi Lor, King Locar, Senators Olivaxk, Perrais, Merass’ka, Ideon and the Techno Union for your aide and response forces. The Pilgrim will remain atmospheric for about a week more to ensure we’ve truly dealt with all the stragglers, and will also provide support to the population here. Anyway Vonsky, I can hear a drink calling the name Hinch Beltane. Enjoy the night.ā€
ā€œThe mop-up is still ongoing, but it’s largely dying down as targets are becoming far more limited, and most of the teams are getting ready to pack up, though not all of them.ā€
\The Camera shifts to a set of speeder trucks with young Zygerrians sitting in the back, all have energy bows and are being led by a Scoutmaster and Princess Miraj in a traditional Zygerrian hunting song.**
ā€œA hunter of Kurpfalz is flying through the green woods!
He shoots the wild game and with a joyful cheer he shouts,
Hilee! Hilo! Hunting is such good fun!
Across the green fields!
Across the brown fields!
Hillee Hilo! Hunting is such good fun!
Across the wooded streams!
Across the desert sands!
Hey! Saddle my Brezak!
And load the Saddlebags on it full
So I’ll ride here and there
As a hunter from Kurpfalz!ā€
\The truck is flying a large flag with the text ā€œKitten Scouts Troop 412ā€ And drives off into the darkness as the song continues**
\The Camera shifts to a Balmorran soldier.** ā€œSo now that you’ve operated with them, what do you think of the Zygerrians?ā€
ā€œThey sure are an enthusiastic bunch.ā€ \He states with a laugh.** ā€œA lot of them are young, but they brought a lot of heart to this effort. Without them, we could be looking at very different results. I hear we will be stationed here a few more days before we head home, just in time for the launch of the orbital habitats. Looking forward to seeing what things on that station will be like. ā€œ
\The Camera shifts to butchered clodhoppers being loaded into an MTT converted into a huge freezer.**
ā€œThis?ā€ \A middle-aged Zygerrian wearing an apron laughs** ā€œThis is just one load, we’ve been swapping refrigerator T’s constantly, we’re going to need one of those Trade Federation Doughnuts with all the fresh meat we’re hauling.ā€
\The Camera swaps again to Senator Beltane and several Balmorrans locked arms with the King and several Zygerrians attempting to follow along with a traditional Zygerrian line dance**
\The camera fades and the EVIC News logo takes up the screen.**

2023.06.10 13:18 S_Wyld Reverb tips and tricks for someone using a Rode NT-USB+ mic

Hello!
Just got the Rode NT-USB+ mic and love everything about it... except the huge amounts of reverb. What settings should I use (app and dials) to loweeliminate the reverb? I'm in a small office facing an audio panel that is less than arm's length in front of me, while the mic is mounted right in front of my face.
Listened to the audio playback in the Rode app, Audacity and Davinci Resolve... and it sounds like I am in an echo chamber anytime I speak above a whisper, especially at the high end.
Funny thing is that I have the dial and the in-app recording volume at 50%, which makes my audio waveform look very small compared to my intro music. When I increase the gain/DB the echo is even more noticeable.
Also I've tried several Davinci plug-ins that promise to remove echo/reverb... and whilst they do, they make it sound like I have a sock on my end... tech is just no there yet, so looking to avoid as much post-processing on this one as possible. It has to be something in the setup, right? Please explain as if I am a total newb at audio recording... because I am :) Thanks!

2023.06.10 13:17 shibuwuya Why didn't they make Lynels mini-bosses?

In botw and totk, neither kilton nor gralens (lookout landing shelter guy) count Lynels among their list of monsters. This coincides with them not being mini-bosses - no big health bar along the top, no unique music, etc.
Why do you think the devs decided on this? Seems weird given that they're probably the hardest enemies in the game (except for gleeoks perhaps)

2023.06.10 13:17 UzairU1 The elevator at my office stopped between the first and second floor

I used to work at a reputable audit company. Those familiar with me will recognize the company. I'm certain my colleagues will come across this story on Reddit, as I've seen them browse the site during office hours.
It's been approximately two days since the incident, and I can't shake the feeling of being watched. Each passing night, the shadows in my room seem to grow darker and have more substance. I fear I'm losing my sanity.
My fellow coworkers, as you read this, I'm uncertain if I'll still be alive. However, please, heed my warning. You must put an end to this curse before it's too late.
It happened on the night of June 23rd. It was around 11 PM, and anyone passing by the office building would have noticed that only the lights on the third floor were on. My colleague Awais and I were the only ones working late, as we had an upcoming deadline and, thus, had some unfinished tasks. It wouldn't be fair to solely blame us for the delay, as our client had taken their sweet time in providing the necessary data. Such was the life of an auditor.
My fingers glided across the keyboard of my laptop, the sound of typing echoed through the empty floor. Both of us were surviving on caffeine at this point, evident from the scattered paper cups on the table.
In the midst of entering an Excel formula, a faint scraping sound caught my attention. I had paused briefly to double-check my calculations, and that's when I heard it. As soon as I paid attention to it, it abruptly stopped. I looked up from my laptop, surveying the dimly lit office, but found no source for the sound. Awais, sitting to my right, seemed too busy with his work to notice. Shaking my head, I returned to my tasks, convinced that I had simply imagined it. However, as I looked back at the laptop screen, the scraping noise resumed, faint but distinct.
I immediately stood up, and once again, the sound stopped. I scanned the room and heard Awais making a strange noise. I turned toward him, and he burst into laughter.
"Bruh, you should have seen your face," Awais said, struggling to contain his amusement.
"Dude, that scared the hell out of me. Don't pull such pranks when we're up against a deadline."
"Yeah, yeah. You definitely need some sleep. You're losing it right now."
"I'll get some rest once I finish this," I replied, plopping back into my chair and letting out a sigh.
"I hate my job."
"Not much longer, right? This is our last day. Do you think our replacements will be able to complete this?"
"Probably. We gave them a thorough briefing about the work earlier."
I looked at Awais, and he slowly closed his laptop.
"You're leaving, huh?"
"I have a lot on my mind right now. I need to take a step back."
"Sure, I'll probably leave in a few minutes as well. You go ahead."
Awais started gathering his belongings, and in the midst of packing, he asked, "Have you heard from Asjad Bashir? He left the company a week ago, and we haven't heard a word from him."
"Same here. I've tried contacting him multiple times, but his phone was turned off."
"You think it's related to that rumored curse?"
"Nonsense. Do you believe in such things?"
"I don't, but lately, it seems more than just a rumor, doesn't it? They say those who leave the company vanish."
"Asjad not answering our calls would definitely have a logical explanation, rather than some absurd curse. He did say that his phone was causing all sorts of problems before he left"
"Sure, but what about Sarah and Ahmed?"
"They both had plans to move to China, so it's possible that they haven't had a chance to reach out to us yet."
"Junaid, it's been three months, and Ahmed, your work buddy, hasn't even contacted you."
"I understand that his silence is bothering you, but I have faith that he will eventually get in touch with us."
Awais didn't seem satisfied with my response. He stared blankly at the vacant office space.
"Don't worry about anything. You'll be fine. That rumor is just a tactic to keep us in the company," I assured him, giving his shoulder a pat.
"I want to believe that too. Anyway, I'm leaving now. Let's grab lunch sometime and talk shit about this company again," Awais said weakly, letting out a faint laugh.
"Sure thing, buddy."
We shook hands firmly, and Awais picked up his bag, heading towards the elevator. The doors closed, plunging the space into darkness once again, I returned to my desk and resumed my work.
About 20 minutes later, I stretched my arms.
"Man, the newbies are going to have a field day with this assignment."
I closed my laptop, preparing to pack up. I gathered the empty paper cups and tossed them into the nearby bin.
As I stood by the elevator, I took one last glance at the empty office.
"Never thought I'd witness this day, especially not after four years of being here."
With that, I stepped into the elevator. The doors closed, and the descent began, the floor numbers gradually ticking down from three.
Surprisingly, the elevator jolted and came to a sudden stop.
"Well, that was quicker than expected," I muttered.
I looked at the elevator panel, only to find the lower portion of "2" and the upper portion of "1".
"What in the world?"
Realizing that the doors hadn't opened, I pressed the buttons and attempted to force them apart, but to no avail. Of all the times, it had to be today. I decided to call the security guard, Kashif, I picked up my phone, and at that moment, the elevator doors opened.
Before me lay a dark corridor, without a single light. Glancing back at the panel, I noticed that it still displayed the same numbers. I tapped the panel and pressed the buttons, but nothing happened.
Letting out a sigh, I adjusted the strap of my bag and stepped out of the elevator. As soon as I did, the doors closed shut. I turned around, only to see the elevator panel indicating that it was descending to the ground level.
"You've got to be kidding me."
I found myself in an unfamiliar corridor. It didn't match any floor layout I was familiar with. With my phone's flashlight activated, I cautiously proceeded forward, noticing a partially open door a few meters away. In a final desperate attempt, I pushed the elevator button, but it remained fixed on the ground level. Admitting defeat, I slowly approached the door.
Carefully, I pushed the door open, my body on high alert for reasons I couldn't quite understand. Illuminating the room with my phone's light, I discovered empty workstations and chairs. I scanned the area, moving the light from one corner to another. In all my four years at the company, I had never seen this room before. I searched for a light switch, however, there were none, and I realized there were no windows either. Odd.
The only sound that came in the room was the sound of rushing air from the ventilation system. As I approached the first workstation, I noticed the name "Akhtar Ali" taped to the desk, accompanied by a photo of a man in his late thirties, I assumed the man in was Akhtar. Strangely enough, I had never seen or met him in the office before. I directed my flashlight towards the adjacent desk, where the name 'Parveen Nabil' was written—a name I had never heard in the office either.
Something felt off. I hurriedly passed by each table, each taped with a name tag and a picture of the person assigned to it. As I approached the end of the table, a particular name caught my attention. There was no mistaking it. Moving closer, I confirmed that 'Asjad Bashir' was written there, accompanied by a picture taken on his last day of work.
I took a step back from the table, feeling uneasy at what I had just looked at. Did the office maintain some bizarre memorial for all the staff members who had left? It sounded absurd, but that's exactly what was before me.
There were two desks next to Asjad's. I moved towards it, making me shiver at what I saw. The desks had mine and Awais' names taped on. What's more shocking was that the picture of either of us was the ones we took a couple of hours ago, when everyone had left.
"What in the world is going on? This is madness," I muttered.
I knew I had to leave. Something was severely wrong. At the far end of the room, there was another door. I approached it and cautiously opened it. Immediately, a horrendous, rotting smell invaded my nostrils, nearly causing me to throw up. Covering my nose, I took a step forward but tripped over something and stumbled to the floor. In the process, my phone was thrown a few feet away, its light illuminating the room. As I slowly rose, I noticed an arm lying next to my feet. Startled, I stood up, only to be confronted with a horrifying sight.
The floor was covered in dried blood, and several hooks with chains dangled from the ceiling. Lifeless bodies hung from those hooks, each with their mouths impaled on a hook. Limbs were strewn across the floor, as every body had been gruesomely dismembered.
I began to hyperventilate. What in God's name was I witnessing? This was sheer madness. Trembling, I reached for my phone, and as I retrieved it, I recognized the first body—the resemblance was unmistakable, it was Asjad Bashir. The corpse had decomposed slightly, but the face was still recognizable.
Three rooms stood at the end of the room, one of which was illuminated. I hurriedly made my way toward it, peeking through the doors' small window. Inside, a huge, obese man stood, easily seven feet tall and weighing over 500 pounds. His body was covered in scars and stitches, with a prominent red scar across his bald head. Gripping a massive meat cleaver, he was busy dismembering a lifeless figure on a table before him. With each strike, limbs fell off, and blood sprayed in all directions. I couldn't see the face of the body from my position.
"Gotta love it when the little fishy walks right into my hands," he chuckled, his voice hoarse.
Shocked and terrified, I stepped away from the door, realizing I needed to escape this place.
I heard movement in the room and quickly ducked into the next room. Just as I slightly closed the door behind me, the man emerged. Although I couldn't see what he was doing, I heard the sound of chains rattling and the piercing of flesh.
Footsteps echoed again, and it seemed the man was leaving. The footsteps halted, followed by the man sniffing the air, chuckling with delight.
"Oh boy, oh boy, looks like another little fishy was wandering around here. I do love me some good hide and seek."
With that, it sounded like he exited the slaughter room and entered the memorial room. Gathering my courage, I left the room I had hidden in, refraining from using my phone's flashlight to avoid being spotted. I used the light coming from the butcher's room to navigate my way to the butcher's room.
The room was a blood-splattered chaos. In the center stood a large table, with limbs on it from the previous victim. I frantically searched the room for a key, a button, anything that could help me escape.
But there was nothing. Overwhelmed with despair, I collapsed onto the floor.
"I don't want to die. I don't want to die."
All hope seemed lost. That monster was sure to return any minute and kill me. At that moment, I noticed a large finger hanging on a cleaver keychain from one of the walls. I got up and grabbed it.
Then, I heard the door behind me creak open, and I felt a force pulling me upright.
"Well, well, the little fishy has strayed too far from the fishing net."
I turned and saw one of the ugliest faces I had ever seen, grinning at me. I struggled to break free from his grip, but he was too strong.
"Oh, the little fishy is putting up a fight? I do love me some strong fish."
He flashed a toothy grin and threw me onto the table. Placing his enormous hand on my neck, he began to strangle me.
"Now, playtime is over, fishy. Please die for me and create the music of death."
He brought his face closer to mine, a sadistic smile spreading across his lips. I clawed at his hands, but his grip tightened. I gasped for air and that made the man laugh.
"Give me more music fish."
Summoning my last ounce of strength, I clenched the cleaver keychain tightly and drove it into his eye with all my might.
The man howled in agony and stumbled back. Coughing and gasping for air, I scrambled to my feet. With one goal in mind to escape, I sprinted out of the room.
"You piece of shit! I'll skin you alive!" roared the butcher.
I took out my phone and illuminated my path with its light. Hastily finding the door to the memorial room, I entered it. The room was now a mess, with overturned tables. I didn't have much time to assess the full extent of the butcher's rampage. I exited the memorial room, rushed down the corridor, and reached the elevator.
Frantically pressing the buttons, I received no response. "Come on, come on!"
Despite multiple attempts, the elevator remained motionless. I heard a loud explosion behind me, signaling that the man had entered the memorial room. Ready to give up, I remembered the giant finger I had picked up. I decided to use it to press the elevator button, and to my relief, the elevator started moving up.
The elevator doors opened and with that, the memorial room doors as well. The light from the elevator shone in the corridor and I saw him running towards me.
"Get here, you little fish."
He raised his cleaver and hurled it towards me. I used the finger and pressed the ground level. The doors closed, stopping the cleaver from impaling me.
The elevator descended and stopped at the ground level.
The doors opened, revealing the reception area of the office, with the security guard Kashif sitting there. As he saw me, he quickly stood and approached.
"What happened to you? You're a complete mess, and what's with all the blood?" he asked, bewildered.
"There... I... He..." I struggled to form any words.
With that, I bolted out of the front door. I ran and ran, not even bothering to call a taxi. I needed to distance myself from that place and everything I had witnessed.
I reached my house in no time as I didn't live too far from the office, I locked all the doors and hid in my room. I don't know how, but somehow I managed to fall asleep. The next morning, I attempted to call Awais, but received no response. I tried calling the security guard, Kashif, but his phone was powered off. Each number I attempted to call yielded the same result—no connection.
During all this confusion, I noticed a text message notification on my phone. It was from Awais, sent to me just after he left the office last night. The message read:
"Junaid, what the hell is going on in this office? Why the hell are there dead bodies being kept here?"

2023.06.10 13:17 poilane He finally went to rehab

Hi everyone, I’m new to the sub and new to Al Anon in general. I’ve been to a couple virtual meetings, but have been super busy recently and haven’t had the chance to go again. I’m hoping to start again this week.
My boyfriend is an alcoholic. He’s been an alcoholic for a long time, but a functional one. When we met almost two years ago, he told me stories of his past drinking, but it seemed more like he had it under control. I never got the sense he was an alcoholic. When we met, we would share a bottle of wine and everything was fine, he never wanted more or acted abnormally or anything—just like any non-alcoholic would when drinking a little bit. He was never wasted around me.
Then, last year, things changed. My boyfriend is Ukrainian, he has lived in Ukraine all his life, and that is where I met him (I am Ukrainian-American, but spend a lot of time in Ukraine, living there for a few months of the year). When the war started, I was in the U.S., planning to go back to Ukraine to live there long-term with him. He had started mentioning that his roommates were concerned about his drinking, but because I had never seen him truly drunk before, I had no idea that the vast majority of the time I spent talking to him on the phone and video chatting, he was absolutely wasted.
It was only when I arrived to Ukraine last summer, that I realized why his behavior on the phone was so erratic and bizarre. He was drinking heavily, almost daily. When we started living together after I arrived in Ukraine, it quickly became clear that he had completely lost control over his drinking, and it was a shock for me because his emotions would be all over the place—crying one second, then angry, then telling me I don’t love him, etc. I moved out at one point to live with a family member but returned after a week. He quit for a month, then started again.
Since then, his drinking got worse and worse. Heavy drinking every day, a bottle of vodka and beer. He has had his phone lost or stolen at least 5 times this last year because he was drunk, now once again he has no phone. Last week, his roommate sent me a photo of him passed out on the stairs inside their apartment building, an empty bottle of vodka lying next to him. He had scabs and bruises from getting into fights. After that, his mother offered him to go to rehab and he agreed. It was the first time he had ever truly agreed to get help.
Now he is in rehab, and struggling, but this is the first time I truly notice he has become tired of his addiction, and seems to want to change, because he decided himself he wanted to do it. I don’t know what to think honestly, I want to believe it will help and that he’ll stay dedicated to sobriety, but I don’t know. I know this war has heavily traumatized him and it’s a major reason why his alcoholism worsened to this level, which is why I was so patient. I was honestly ready to leave him just before he decided to go to rehab. I want to have faith, and I'm doing my best to be supportive, but I don't know.
I’m also so resentful. All of the times he lied to me, his mom, his friends, manipulating us into giving him money which he ended up using to buy alcohol. All of the times he betrayed my trust, took my kindness and love for granted. He knows that he has deeply wronged me, and he seems to sincerely understand it right now, but I don’t know how much I can believe it or trust it.
Sorry for this long post. This is the first time I’m actually talking about it. Thank you for listening.
Edit: I also want to add I’m in Ukraine now, he went to rehab a few days after I arrived (so a few days ago). I’ve been visiting him and supporting him as best I can, and he’s in pretty rough shape right now; but even though I’m resentful, I love him and want him to heal and recover from this disease.

2023.06.10 13:16 Brobosobo Do I give up? Or maybe I really am going too fast?

Bit of a long post here. I feel that I should state at the beginning here that I (20m) have never really been that into women (many people thought and still do think I’m gay… including my parents) . I find them attractive, sure, but I’ve never felt the urge to enter a relationship; Which is why 7 months ago when I stared talking to this girl from work, I never thought of her as anything more than a friend. Until early February (4 months ago) when I had to travel and I felt rushes of emotions aimed towards her that I’d never felt before, and after conferring with friends, I’d realized I had a crush on this girl.
It was late February or early March when I’d confessed my feelings, and it went well. I never asked how she felt towards me as I never intended on pressuring her into anything, and so about a month later, I’d imply that I wasn’t sure how she felt about me to which I was met with her reassurance in telling me that she ā€œliked me tooā€ , but wanted to take things slow. That was approximately 3 months ago. Since then, I’d asked her on a couple dates. The first two times, she declined for reasons that feel unnecessary to state here, but the third time she said yes, then asked what we’d be doing. After making a plan, I checked in with her to see if she approved, and she did…I thought. But after asking her for availability, she simply never got back to me. I’d bring it up now and then through text, but she’d simply avoid discussing it. It’s at this point, I should mention, that texting had become less and less frequent to the point that I’d be getting 2 replies a day if I was lucky. One a day was the norm until it became once every two days, but she’s a busy person who values her time, as do I. Eventually, I told her I’d stop bringing it up since I know she’s busy, but if she had time she’d like to spend with me, she’d just need to let me know, and she was all for that. That was a bit over a month ago.
Most recently, also the reason I’m making this post, I had sent her something I wrote between sleep that I thought was kinda sweet, but I let her know explicitly that I wasn’t in my fullest mind when I wrote it, so it was pretty ā€œcringeā€. She said she wanted to see it regardless and so I sent the image of what I’d written. Her response was a mixture of things. She’d expressed that i was right about it being ā€œcringeā€, and she admitted she thought it was sweet, but that she also thought it didn’t make any sense I’d say those things since what we had was new, and that I was going a bit fast. I felt embarrassed and ashamed, because I knew it was bad, but I was hoping for her to get more of a laugh out of it, and now I feel I lost any chance I had. Another thing is that I know what I sent was definitely a little more on the romantic side, but her response made me realize that 4 months had gone by and we’re probably farther apart now than we were before I had caught feeling for her. She still talks to me, but even that once every two days feels like it’s fading into an eternity, and I’ll eventually be left alone; only seeing her in passing.
TL;DR: The girl I like told me she wanted to take things slow 3 months ago, still no date or any level of intimacy, and told me I was taking things too fast when I sent her an intimate message about my feelings towards her

2023.06.10 13:16 Lower_Singer2031 Copycats still exist in sunset island?

Copycats still exist in sunset island?
…someone dead ass copied my outfit with no hesitation! Like- They came up to me and confidently said ā€œI love your outfitā€ and walked off, I said ā€œthanksā€. Cause you know, it’s a compliment! I’ll take the compliment..
So, the round was almost over and she comes back to the stage dressed damn near exactly like me. I had on the sleigh it top, she had on the sleigh it top, I had on the OA skirt, she had on the OA skirt, I had on the steampunk skirt, SHE HAD IT ON! Like— I had on these items: Steampunk and OA skirt, The exquisite tie, Sleigh it top, bat-mo heels, and the vamp tote, as well as the GOT sleeves. The had on everything except for the got and tie.. She had a goth lolita purse but had everything else I had on as well as the same coloring but she couldn’t find the pattern I was using, so she used something else. And I’m like she’s really confident?! So.. I had messaged her saying ā€œwhy did you basically copy my outfitā€.. She was silent, kept pretending to dress up, saw my comment and said nothing. Then they’re announcing the winners, she won 2nd and I won 1st but, why did the copycat win? She literally copied my outfit and then when she won she said ā€œI love it sorryā€ and I responded with ā€œthat’s not an excuse to copy :/ā€œ exactly like that and she left.. I’m definitely going to post the video on tiktok cause, I want her to feel embarrassed, for copying. It’s wrong to copy someone’s character like- it’s royale high, everyone else in sunset island was original with the outfit BUT you.. How hard is it to just try your best to participate with the theme? That hard to where you wanted to copy because you were too lazy to make an outfit? Shame.

2023.06.10 13:16 Viking_Magnus_Racing /r/AUTOMOBILISTA will be going dark from June 12 in protest against Reddit's API changes which will kill 3rd party apps

/AUTOMOBILISTA will be going dark from June 12 in protest against Reddit's API changes which will kill 3rd party apps
As you've undoubtedly seen, a lot of subs are going dark on the 12th. We will be doing the same until Reddit announces a sufficient solution to the API changes. Once the sub goes dark, nobody will be able to make new posts.
As always, PM me if you have any questions about this.
--------------------------

This subreddit will be joining in on the June 12th protest of Reddit's API changes that will essentially kill all 3rd party Reddit apps.

At minimum we will be going dark for 48 hours. However if no changes are announced from the Reddit admins, then the blackout will continue indefinitely.

--------------------------

What's going on?

A recent Reddit policy change threatens to kill many beloved third-party mobile apps, making a great many quality-of-life features not seen in the official mobile app permanently inaccessible to users.
On May 31, 2023, Reddit announced they were raising the price to make calls to their API from being free to a level that will kill every third party app on Reddit, from Apollo to Reddit is Fun to Narwhal to BaconReader.
Even if you're not a mobile user and don't use any of those apps, this is a step toward killing other ways of customizing Reddit, such as Reddit Enhancement Suite or the use of the old.reddit.com desktop interface .
This isn't only a problem on the user level: many subreddit moderators depend on tools only available outside the official app to keep their communities on-topic and spam-free.

What's the plan?

On June 12th, many subreddits will be going dark to protest this policy. Some will return after 48 hours: others will go away permanently unless the issue is adequately addressed, since many moderators aren't able to put in the work they do with the poor tools available through the official app. This isn't something any of us do lightly: we do what we do because we love Reddit, and we truly believe this change will make it impossible to keep doing what we love.
The two-day blackout isn't the goal, and it isn't the end. Should things reach the 14th with no sign of Reddit choosing to fix what they've broken, we'll use the community and buzz we've built between then and now as a tool for further action.
What can you do?
  • Complain. Message the mods of /reddit.com, who are the admins of the site: message reddit
  • Submit a support request: comment in relevant threads on /reddit, such as this one, leave a negative review on their official iOS or Android app- and sign your username in support to this post.
  • Spread the word. Rabble-rouse on related subreddits. Meme it up, make it spicy. Bitch about it to your cat. Suggest anyone you know who moderates a subreddit join us at our sister sub at /ModCoord - but please don't pester mods you don't know by simply spamming their modmail.
  • Boycott and spread the word...to Reddit's competition! Stay off Reddit entirely on June 12th through the 13th- instead, take to your favorite non-Reddit platform of choice and make some noise in support!
  • Don't be a jerk. As upsetting this may be, threats, profanity and vandalism will be worse than useless in getting people on our side. Please make every effort to be as restrained, polite, reasonable and law-abiding as possible. This includes not harassing moderators of subreddits who have chosen not to take part: no one likes a missionary, a used-car salesman, or a flame warrior.

2023.06.10 13:15 Cautious_Cabinet_678 I had a meltdown at work, how do you assess my situation?

I ended up being in a mentally very bad place, I have been like this for weeks intensely and more long term for a few months, today it was absolutely unbearable so in the middle of my shift I called a friendly colleague with a "can we talk" request that ended up with me crying uncontrollably and saying out loud all the thing that I have also texted my rent manager who is also a colleague.
Basically I was saying that I am not pure anymore that I am soiled and like a wh*re and it's irreversible and I don't want to go to work (we have 50% smart working). What I didn't told him is what I have been texting my rent manager, that is I feel that there is no point or hope to rescue this life and it would be better to be reborn and start again. Bad place.
It doesn't help that it's almost the 5th anniversary of my parent's suicide and that since I went to live on my on a year before it happened (parent was very abusive, we had to run away no contact, supported by psychologist and all) I was living a life yes with an abuser but much better in terms of daily quality (I know, it's sick... good minus the abuse, right) so I have been missing everything since I had to live with flatmates and work this particular job. I ended up thinking that I have made a total mistake of my life and I will never have the life that I want and the damage is irreversible. I tried to take care of myself but it has became unbearable, hence the phone call today.
What happened in the last month is that I have colleagues who are handsy and touchy and they started insisting on touching my back, shoulder and arm and no matter how much I told them please don't touch me they insisted and even mocked me and kept doing it on purpose. Recently a supervisor's supervisor came up to me with a "compliment" of the lewd variety out of nowhere, and a colleague that I have nothing to do with commented on a part on my body that they had being observing while I was walking. It has never happened in my first 35 years of life, it happened in those last 5 years except during the pandemic, with the intensification since this last times. I feel very horrible because for me keeping my body to myself is a very very important value.
I'm also very stressed because a lot of colleagues there speak in a very vulgar way and are loud an always talking and some of them do not shower regularly.
I was transferred 4 years ago to a task that required dealing occasionally with potential people missing to go commit suicide and when I told HR I was told "that's just your vulnerability" and that was ok to have put me there and not transferred back.
HR also know of my gender identity and for some reason insisted hard that I had to be an activist and transition medically when both things are an absolute NO for me, in my mind coming out with my gender identity was like for somebody to come out as gay, that's it, nothing to be done. They put me on the phone with an external collaborator who pressured me into transitioning and refused to relay to HR that I didn't want to and insisted very strongly that I described him my genitalia. HR know about that but they still wanted me now to work with him as an "activist" and I had to almost put the unions between us to make them stop.
So no, going to HR about the touching and comments is not an option.
What do you think? Am I out of line?

2023.06.10 13:14 UzairU1 The elevator at my office stopped between the first and second floor

2023.06.10 13:14 Spikeman009 SHE GOT BORED OF THE RELATIONSHIP

We were together for almost 2 years and she just told me she wants to break up with me a week ago. The full story here is I met here when she and her ex split for 8 months. They had a very toxic 3 year relationship. It only took us a month to become a couple (She's my first girlfriend both of us are 23 yrs old that time). She told all the toxicity of her recent relationship so I loved and treated her opposite of her ex cause I want to show her there's still good guys out here. I genuinely loved her and gave my all. we weren't perfect but we can tell it was definitely a healthy relationship. Fast forward to 1 month ago I had to go far from her because of a training I need for my career. 1.5 weeks before getting home I notice she keeps telling me she's busy watching kdrama and all. It bothered me but i didnt want to confront her cause i dont want us to get in a fight. When i finally came home she told me she lost her affection for me and i deserve better. I felt like the lowest of low. Like all my dreams and plans for us went to shambles. She told me she got bored of the relationship and that she thought she wanted this kind of relationship. Quoting her "I wanted chaos" she got from a taylor swift song. There is no 3rd party involved and right now she's just eat, sleep, watching kdrama, work repeat as per her sister whom i just asked. Im doing no contact for 1 week. I still love her and want to be with her again

2023.06.10 13:13 OkJelly8189 Sick of my current job situation

I am on my 18th month here in my first job here in Dubai. Accepted an initial salary of 3.5k but now earning 4k. I accepted it initially since I have no experience here in Dubai and it was the highest offer I could find at that time with my Finance degree and few years of experience back in the Philippines. I am now kicking myself because I am stuck now, living paycheck to paycheck. In my company, I do everything from the whole PO lifecycle, customer support, logistics, accounting and secretarial work. To top it off, my boss is a micromanager. He wants me to work in the office while he work at home sending out small emails. Insisting that my priority is to reply to him in 5 minutes or less even if I am neck-deep in order processing. I also did not have yet a full annual leave. I just a had a 6-day leave last christmas. And because of the shitty medical insurance that my job provides, I was charged 3k at the hospital because I was only covered if I go through referral basis and not thru the emergency room. I am now trying to look for work because I know I deserve more but currently no potential opportunities in sight except for one job interview. The job market is so saturated. 300+ applications per job opening. I hope I find something better.
