Wiki Guides
https://game8.co/games/Monster-Hunter-Rise
https://monsterhunterrise.wiki.fextralife.com/Monster+Hunter+Rise+Wiki
Credit to Game8 and Fextralife for the excellent wikis. Game8 has the more comprehensive guide complete with locations on where to farm certain items, along with equipment builds and other very useful information. Best to choose one of those builds as your base and swap out armors and skills along the way to find the build perfect for you. Fextralife has a more tabulated approach on the info that helps you get a quick glance on what you are looking for with lesser clicks but may have only concise information compared to Game8. For example, If you are looking for an item drop from a small monster, Fextralife will show you drop rates and which map to visit for your hunt. Game8 will give you a little more and show you the areas in the map where these small monsters are located.
Intro
If you're a beginner to the game or the series in general, the beginning sections and tutorials will naturally be quite overwhelming. Take things one step at a time, find a weapon that fits your play style best and enjoy the ride until you get a decent amount of monster hunts in to familiarize yourself with the game.
There will be tons of things to tweak and learn about on this game and no single article can give justice to the complexities of how to fully optimize your experience so additional research is recommended. Treat this article as a supplementary guide.
Efficiency Tips
Enjoy the story and progress through the main quest line as soon and as often as you can. The reason for this is as you progress through the story and your hunter rank increases, more equipment upgrades will be available to you along with the ability to upgrade the base defense of your gear further which unlocks incrementally as you increase in rank. The more defense you have means the more hits you can take and less healing items you consume which you can spend learning the monsters moves and hitting it.
Work on the πŸ† Beat-up Construction Kit as soon as possible and unlock all camp site locations on each map so you can fast travel conveniently closer to your target's location.
Materials List and Locations can be found here on Game8 to search for your gear and quest requirements. Browse it or simply drop the item you are looking for on the search bar.
Blights and Status Ailments Explained and their Cures is explained best in GadgetGabe's Top Voted answer from this GameFAQs forum. Use this wisely to cure yourself ASAP and stay at tip top shape for your fight. You can eventually customize your item load outs when hunting particular monsters.
Register an inventory and radial menu layout that is best for your hunt and tweak it accordingly if you are working on a solo hunt or are in a group. You can set up your action bar (the bar that uses the left and right d-pad) too.
Learn about monster elemental and ailment weaknesses, weak points and parts that you can sever to improve your success rate in a fight. E.g. Flash bombs work well on monsters in flight. Severing a Pukei-pukei's tail makes the monster incapable of it's wide poison gas attack.
Monster Elemental and Ailment Weaknesses and Immunities credit to Pro Game Guides. Monster Hunter Rise explains monster elemental weaknesses well but does not give too much of a description of what elements the monster utilizes against you. To learn that and build the right resistances, refer to the Fextralife MHR Wiki.
As you progress through your hunts, make sure to pick up any hunting helpers and golden/gilded spiribugs along the way. You will need 500 and 1000 respectively for the trophies πŸ† Hunting Helpers Plate and πŸ† Golden Spiribug Plate. If you want to farm Spiribugs exclusively, this video shows an excellent route while displaying some skills on speedy map traversal.
When you are in town, there will be times when you will be prompted that a sale is ongoing from the two merchants. Always take action on this prompt and participate in the lottery that is only available during this sale to progress towards the 12 room decorations you need to win as part of the πŸ† Sturdy Padlock. If the grand prize of the lottery is a room decoration, you have to roll a Jackpot (different from a Bingo) to win it. Even if the grand prize is not a room decoration, you are given a required room decoration for winning 100 items in the lottery.

πŸ† Extravagant Cashbox
Awarded for earning 1,000,000 Zenny. The fastest method to earn zenny is by participating in the 2 Star Low Rank Event Quest - Gotta Hoard Fast!. It can be done with a group in 1 minute and rewards you with a Golden Egg which you can sell to the merchant for 20,000z. Use whenever you are short on money. This is also the best quest to use if you want to trigger merchant sales quickly and roll on the lottery.
Using your silk bind/aerial moves to deliver mount damage (indicated by a blue cloud background on the damage inflicted) is a good tactic to learn and master. Arekkz Gaming's Monster Riding Tutorial video explains this well. You can also scout the area where you mount the monster and bump him into special areas on the map that will deal extra damage.
High Rank Quests
An Armorcharm and Powercharm will now be available to purchase from the two item merchants. These work as permanent stat increases as long as you have them in your Item Pouch. When you reach HR7, you will eventually be able to upgrade these charms into Armortalon and Powertalon. These stack and you may repurchase Armorcharm and Powercharm and hold all four items in your Item Pouch.
Decorations will unlock from the Smithy and the Melding Pot will unlock from the item merchants. This would be a good time to study the skills you have available in conjunction with your armor skills and start creating defensive/offensive load outs based on what you are up against.
For talisman crafting via the Melding Pot, craft out the desired skill you need and use accordingly. Once you have your talisman of choice, always roll with Melding - Wisp of Mystery and Melding - Rebirth (unlocks last on a higher HR). They will cost more materials to craft, but will also have better chances of a Rarity 7 Talisman with more skills and better decoration slots.
Prepare status resistances/immunities depending on the monsters you are up against and build up defense, elemental defense and even add elemental attack against them as well. Take note that elemental attack increases on skills only increases an existing element on weapons (or elemental ammo for bowguns) and can not create an element from a non-elemental weapon source.
For more on elemental damage and elemental resistances, see Fextralife's articles linked accordingly.
Armorskin and Demondrug and their corresponding Mega version are items consumed once and will last until you faint or complete the quest. Invest in them as soon as you have the zenny to afford them. You will need to farm Pale Extract from the monster Khezu or purchased as a rare find in the Argosy to craft the mega drugs. You may also choose to deploy the meowcenaries to fight a Khezu to increase your item farm.
Master Rank Quests and Sunbreak Content
With Sunbreak comes a whole new base map and two new locations to explore. Like the base game, there are a number of trophies that involve you interacting with the townsfolk and the goods and services they have to offer. Refer to this video guide for a checklist of what you need to be doing after every quest to cover the trophies πŸ† Snowy Cohoot Minipouch, πŸ† Secret Honey Jar, πŸ† Unbreakable Bag, πŸ† Solid Padlock, πŸ†Polychrome Acorn and πŸ† Sojourn Necklace.
πŸ† Solid Padlock requires another set of items you need to win in the lottery but take note that the Gargolda Statue only starts appearing after you take a picture of it. Take a daytime expedition for a photo of the creature. Gamer Guru's video shows you how to do it.
Refer to Game8's Eurekacorn article for more ways on farming Eurekacorns for your Polychrome Acorn trophy. Efficiency Tip: Target an expedition with a Herb Node in the Frost Islands together with a Khezu Node for both Eurekacorns and Pale Extracts.
For efficient map traversal, unlock the alternative camp sites on the two new Sunbreak areas along with the new buddy recon points. You will have to unlock 2 recon points per map, for a total of 12 for πŸ† Buddy Whistle. Darcblade has an excellent video guide to cover this.
Crown Hunting
πŸ† Mini Crown Plaque and πŸ† Gold Crown Plaque will most likely be the last trophies you will get in the game as these are very grindy to obtain. These entail slaying or capturing the smallest and largest versions of each monster, awarding you a gold crown on your Hunter's Notes. An alternative grouped view of all your crowns can be found in OPT -> Multiplayer -> Guild Cards -> View -> L1 for Hunting Log. Unlike MH World, Rise does not include a crown notification in the points reward section after a hunt. You will have to check your Hunter Notes manually. You do get a prompt of "Monster Size Updated" right after the kill or capture though as your best indicator of a possible crown.
Crown Hunting Tips and Drop Rates explained by Luke AlbigΓ©s of TrueAchievements
Efficient Strategy
You will want to clear out all the crowns you can possibly obtain from the quests with the 100% chance or boosted crown rate quests. For everything else, learn how to crown snipe to save time and not waste too much time on normal sized targets. If your are sure that your target monster is not a crown size, abort your quest and start a new one. Take note that you need to capture/kill 10 monsters of each type for their respective monster scroll to progress on your πŸ† Sturdy Padlock so anything close to a perceived small or large crown would be worth the kill. The Sunbreak Expansion and Master Rank buffs up the crown monsters appearance rate to as high as 10% for large and 6% for minis. You are best saving the crown hunt for last as you have to tackle Anomaly Investigations for the Sunbreak πŸ† Bahari's Hand Wound Birdie, which entails you earning and spending 3000 Investigation Coins as rewards for these type of quests along with clearing out every single Master Rank quest for the πŸ† Record of Utmost Valor - Master and clearing out 1-4 star anomaly quests for the πŸ† Painting - Crimson Nightmare. There are a total of 7 1-star anomaly quests to unlock and 8 quests for 2-4 stars. There is a good chance that you will be earning majority of these crowns along your progression towards these three trophies with minimal crown cleanup.
Videos for Monster Measurements
As of this writing, there seems to be a lack of content on Large and Mini Gold Crowns for MH Rise. Below is video clips to give some clues on how these monster sizes will look when you encounter them. Monster sizes with 100% chance drop quests will be excluded from this segment.
Kiranico has an excellent large monster guide which also displays the recommended quest to participate in with corresponding crown percentages.
Anomaly Investigation quest monsters have fixed sizes and will never yield any crowns. The normal Anomaly Quests will share the same 6% small and 10% large crown chance as the MR quests.

Refer to the Gold Crown Shield segment of Powerpyx's guide for the full list.

πŸ† Antique Bookmark
Achieved by collecting all 60 Relics scattered over the 5 available maps. Powerpyx's guide for all Relic Locations shows these well. There is a correction to the linked article however, as it is mentioned there that the Rampage Relics unlock after collecting all 10 other Relics per map but is incorrect (unsure what triggers rampage Relic availability but I had access to them at 5 star quest availability on Village and Hub quests). To track the relics you have collected already, go to OPT -> Info -> Hunter Notes -> Notebook.
Gaming with Abyss has good Monster Hunter trophy content and shows locations of each relic per map clearly on his videos.
Shrine Ruins
Frost Islands
Flooded Forest
Sandy Plains
Lava Caverns

Other Useful Information
Affinity vs Raw Damage is discussed well on this steamcommunity forum.
The difference between KO/Stun and Trip is explained will in this article. Note that KO and Stun status are the same (in game and articles call it one or the other so this can be confusing) but Trip status is different.
Critical Boost at level 1 raises damage dealt by critical hits by 5%. Your critical hits are already at a base amplified damage of 25% (not mentioned in-game). This could be deceiving due to the in-game skill definition.
Palamutes and Palicos you bring on the hunt increase your ease and efficiency and are best slotted with the best gear for your playstyle. Game8 has an excellent buddy guide that discusses end game builds.
Use the Basic behavior if you are running a melee focused buddy and Follow if you are using a ranged buddy. This is discussed thoroughly by CheaterMcCheat.
On solo hunts, don't let the common combo of 1 Palico and 1 Palamute mold you to run with that as there are several builds that utilize 2 Palicos or 2 Palamutes in one hunt. For example, you may want to use a double Palamute with C Jelly Travel Bag X weapon on the Best Equipment For Sunbreak (Ranged)segment. Accompanied with the Palamute Silkbinder, this build can provide excellent monster control.
Ordering Motley Mixes in the canteen nets you dango tickets as a reward. Claim it from the chef after some orders and use the tickets with hopping skewers on your harder hunts.
Latent Power skill is triggered by an internal timer upon monster encounter and attack animations and is explained here on Fextralife's wiki.
Auto-shoutouts are useful for your party and even yourself. You can program these auto shoutouts via OPT -> Multiplayer -> Chat Menu -> Triangle and click on the field under Text to program what you want to shout-out, choose the box under speech timing to choose the condition. These conditions aren't fixed and you have more to choose from. The most useful ones are the auto shoutouts for "When you set a trap" and "When a monster is limping" where the monster enters the blue icon state and is capturable if it is not an elder, apex or afflicted monster.
Weapon Specific Notes
Light Bowgun
Light Bowgun Basic Moves and Ammo Types credit to Phemeto
Pay attention to the color of your reticle. An orange reticle tells you that your ammo type is in its ideal range and will deal its intended damage. A yellow reticle means your shots will hit, but will be significantly weaker.
The Fanning Vault Silkbind skill is best used with your Wyvernblast special ammo. Press circle while you are directly under the monster to plant a bomb directly on it. You will be replacing this with the Switch Skill Fanning Maneuver for end game builds.
Ammo Details can be found by going to Items and Equipment (opt button) -> Equipment Info -> Ammo Details (square)
You will normally run out of your full magazine of your most desired ammo. To minimize returning to camp, bring the materials you need to craft that ammo and set it on your radial menu. Also, avoid bringing the ammo type you never use to keep your ammo menu as decluttered as possible for efficient ammo switching. It is encouraged to bind the ammo you use and their craft commands in your radial menu as well.
Recoil is the delay between firing shots (different from Reload delay). Lower recoil = Faster Attack Speed
Deviation is the drift of the bullets when you fire. If you have a weapon with deviation, it will travel center for a medium distance then swerve to the L or R depending on the strength of the deviation. Targeting "No deviation" is ideal.
Decorations can be crafted to reduce Reload, Recoil and Deviation.
Light Bowgun Weapon & Armor Skills
Bombardier skill does not work with any ammos, including sticky, cluster, or wyvernblast.
Normal/Rapid Up skill improves Normal Ammo damage by 5%/10%/20% and stacks with the skill
Rapid Fire Up which enhances rapid fire damage also by 5%/10%/20%
Great Sword
Recommended Switch Skills are Tackle, Rage Slash (RS), and Adamant Charged Slash (ACS). All three can tank monster attacks (no knockbacks) and negates roar effects. Tackle is the bread and butter during roars and quick monster attacks since its easy to trigger, You can use Adamant Charged Slash for positioning, and Rage Slash to land your last charged attack on your desired direction, which True Charged Slash Skill cant do.
How to Unlock:
Adamant Charged Slash - Unlocked by crafting/upgrading 8 different Greatswords, no duplicates. Replaces the Hunting Edge skill.
Rage Slash - Unlocked by completing the quest "Grasp the Greatsword" (HR5 Quest). Replaces the True Charged Slash skill.
Low Rank Entry GS - Crit Eye Build
Low Rank GS - Crit Draw Build - 80% Affinity on Overhead and Charged Slash
High Rank GS Build - 90% Affinity on Weakpoints + Focus 3

Back from TU3, I made a Sunbreak combo analyzer. Now I decided to share it here to prepare for final update

Here is the sheet

Cover image
At the start of this year, I published this on the meta sub a while back. The reception was good enough for me so now I want to share it here. This is the Sunbreak moveset analyzer which can build a moveset for all weapons. This sheet features:
  1. Moveset calculator: contains moveset for all weapons, fully modular with personalized weapon skills like Gunlance and phial based weapons
    1. However, note that this sheet was meant to be generalist calculator, so some special combos like DB piercing bind and aerial IG won't work in the main sheet
  2. Set builder: this has mostly complete set builder with functional armor skills, including rampage skills (note: rampage skills currently at TU4)
  3. DPS analyzer: contains raw and elemental damage analyzer with graphs shown
  4. DPS and combo comparison: after analyzing combos for DPS, you can compare with other combos
  5. Weapon frame data: the source and the backend of the DPS because can't have DPS without seconds. This contains all weapon's moveset's frame data for each behavior. This is recorded for 30 fps. There are no plans for 60 fps
To use it, simply make a copy for this sheet to yours. There are tutorials for using the sheet, see "how to" to do it.
Why this late here? Turns out I want to prepare for sendoff in case the final update comes. All the grinds I have for this game has settled and I don't want to grind more. With this, I play without qurio armors so my endgame is only obtaining all decorations. That's enough for me because turns out the grind is way more intensive than what I thought. Previously I've done moveset flowchart months ago (hence my flair) so for now I think I've achieved enough for this game.
If there's something to ask, ask here. Thank you.

2023.05.18 14:47 Balbaem (ChatGPT) A poem about Fatalis inspired by a personal experience in the game

A user from mhrise inspired me to prompt chatgpt to write monster hunter related poems. I thought maybe some of you might like this one. It was inspired by something that literally happened to me in the game.
In the land of Monster Hunter, a brave hunter stood tall, Ready to face the greatest challenge, to answer the call, A monster so feared, so strong, it's hard to withstand, The Fatalis, a beast so mighty, it rules the land.
The hunter was prepared, with weapons and gear, With courage and skill, to face the monster without fear, And as the battle began, the hunter fought with all their might, Determined to bring the Fatalis down, with all their sight.
The battle was fierce, as the Fatalis struck with all its power, The hunter dodged and weaved, with every chance to shower, And as they landed their blows, the Fatalis roared in pain, But the hunter knew the fight was far from over, with much to gain.
As the battle raged on, the music began to play, A song so inspiring, it made the hunter's heart sway, Proof of a Hero, the tune that lifts the soul, And as it played, the hunter felt their heart take control.
Overexcited, the hunter rushed in, without a care, Their guard was down, and the Fatalis took its share, With one swift strike, the hunter fell to the ground, And as the music played on, the hunter made no sound.
The Fatalis had won, but the hunter's courage would not fade, Their spirit lives on, in the hearts of those who stayed, For the hunter's sacrifice, was not in vain, Their legacy lives on, as proof of a hero, forever to sustain.

2023.05.01 17:29 hollownger can anyone share any 241+ Risen Vaal or Risen Shagaru on PC

hello guys, according to this thread (I didn't knew it, maybe u did):
PSA: If you are AR221+ you can join quests up to AR300 and special investigations : MHRise (reddit.com)
it is possible to join up to lvl300 anomalies if we're past AR221.
the point is that I'd like to finish my build and I need to craft few attack 4 jewels. they're dropped (the mats obviously) by lvl 241+ risen vaalstrax or risen shagaru.
while I'm AR237 (and growing up), can somebody on PC on europe share a quest of any of those monsters so I finish my build?
thanks and enjoy your hunts. I'll be online farming ARs untill either someone shares or I reach myself

2023.04.26 01:33 s_magaonghusa Monster Hunter Rise and Linux

I'm posting again. I am having a strange issue. I managed to find the issue but still trying to find a solution.
Background: I had MHR installed and working great for the first 90 hours. My PC crashed and since then I've been having issues with MHR. It loads in Windowed Mode all the time despite what I try to do. I did -fullscreen launch option in Steam and set the in-game settings to full screen and it still shows up as windowed.
The "solution" I found was in the config.ini file. If the parameter "WindowModeOption" was set to 1 then it worked. That worked for me once but now every time I try to open the game it opens windowed and sets that value back to 2. Is there a way that I can lock the config file so that the game can't overright the settings? I understand that will be a pain if I have to manually modify the file instead of changing in game settings but I don't see a way to play it fullscreen otherwise.
EDIT: This is what happens when I try to change the settings in-game.
EDIT2: Okay. I think I realized what's going on and the solution. My CPU is an AMD Ryzen 5 5600G with a built in GPU. MHR I guess didn't know which one to use and chose the 5600G instead of my RX 6700 TX. That's why I was getting such awful performance. The solution (found by koogas thanks again!) was to use the launch command variable "DXVK_FILTER_DEVICE_NAME" set to my RX 6700 TX and that cleared everything up.

2023.04.17 01:13 Pace127 My thoughts on posting talismans.

This is my thoughts after reading this thread where OP mentioned people humblebragging by asking "is this talisman good" knowing well it is, which I absolutely agree, if one wanna flex, be blatant about it.
Tho reading some of OP's replies I find he/she doesnt really like flex posts in general, this comes down to personal preference but I think a lot of people myself included don't mind/welcome anyone who is happy with their rolls. This is a surprisingly wholesome community and I too feel happy for others' success, be it a result of rng. So if anyone wants to flex, as long as one is honest and not humblebragging, dont be put off from posting what you are proud of.
Then some may genuinely not know how good their talisman is, especially new players. Heres the answer to all individuals unsure about your charm: If this talisman enables you to have all necessary skills in your desired build, its at least a decent/good talisman. If it gives you wiggle room, it is more than good.
It really is down to builds, e.g. Atk 3 Recoil down 3 can be a very very good talisman for the guns, but a meh for melee.
This is just my thought, how about you guys?

2023.04.14 16:19 Famas_1234 As TU5 approaches later, I've made the Sunbreak combo analyzer + damage calculator (TU4 ready)

As Title Update 5 (TU5) is going to be released soon, I've made the combo analyzer for Sunbreak in sheet form. This will benefit for those who want to analyze the damage without opening the game.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Combo Analyzer

I made this sheet months ago about TU1-TU3 period and first posted on the meta sub about 2 months ago. However, given that we're waiting for TU5, I've decided to post it here. The details for the sheet is here as this is the original post (meta sub).
The details and features in the sheet include:
  1. Combo analyzer: featuring 14 weapon movesets with almost all frame data included (30 fps)
    1. Each move has their own category (normal, phial, shell, kinsect, etc.) so that the calculation is different
    2. Features in-depth stats such as sharpness cost, damage/second, element/raw damage ratio, etc.
  2. Skill builder: calculating attack rating, whether display damage, effective damage, or critical damage
  3. Weapon settings: with armor skills dedicated for moveset/damage altering skills and also types for each weapon
    1. Such as rapid morph in switch axe where it can alter total frames and also weapon damage
    2. Such as impact/element phial type in switch axe where the calculation is different
  4. Combo comparison: as we build the combo, we can compare with different weapon combos. This includes difference between total time, total damage, and DPS
For combo analyzer, especially melee, it has two analyzers. One is basic mode (moveset first) and the other is extended/experiment mode (build first) as the calculations are different for both analyzers.
As I mentioned in original post, there are limitations however. Some combos with additional damages or multiplier cannot be performed here. For example, Dual Blades piercing bind damage, Insect Glaive aerial combo multipliers, and more. Otherwise, they will be shown in the different and dedicated sheet for those
To use the sheet, you can make a copy as yours, then you can build whatever you want. To use it, refer to my post in meta sub (link above)
That's it I can show now. The references are also cited in the sheet to make sure no information is lost. Currently there are no changes in the sheet so far so I'm going to standby for now until TU5. Thank you.

2023.03.21 21:46 GoastRiter PC/2023: Questions about Monster Hunter: World!

Hi! I was able to demo MHW for two hours right now, and I played the intro all the way until some minor boss. It was really thrilling. I loved the graphics, the movement, the combat.
I am hyped and would love some help! :D
I've got 4 questions for PC players. Any answers (even if you can just answer one of them) would be super appreciated! :)

1. Grindiness?

I am mostly interested in doing the story, and progressing through the game to kill every monster, and doing random co-op hunts online, and then I think I will be done with it, and will just be going in periodically to hunt some monsters for fun. I hope the game doesn't turn into a life-consuming job during any of my planned path?
Does the game reach a tedious stage where it's full of micromanagement of inventory and crafting? Some of the screenshots I see online look scary with the amount of crafting items people have, but maybe that's mostly meant for end-game grinding geeks who go crazy about min-maxing everything and doing the endlessly repeatable missions and events?
I just wanna be able to relax and use movement and combat skill to defeat the monsters, earn some parts, use that for upgrades, and move on to the next beast etc. I don't wanna have to live and breathe the game 24/7 to achieve that.

2. What edition to buy?

I will be buying one of these two:
But I don't know what Digital Deluxe adds or if it's worth getting for ~15% extra money.

3. WTF DLCs!?

I'm super scared. There are 229 DLCs and they are all pretty expensive since there's so many. Wtf is going on? Are ANY of the DLCs worth having? If so which ones?
https://gg.deals/game/monster-hunter-world/dlcs/
(Alternative link: https://store.steampowered.com/dlc/582010/Monster_Hunter_World/#browse)

4. Mods?

It seems like PC players are able to use mods online? Are there any must-have mods?

Update:

Wow, I am so grateful for every answer! I've learned so much from all your helpful replies! I spent 7 hours researching after that, and will give back to the community by sharing my research too. It's unfortunately impossible to attempt to reply to everyone individually, so I hope you see my answer here instead. Thank you all!
So here's the free Steam DLC that everyone should install after buying the game:

2023.03.18 23:52 Leoncio07 Error MHRS-0034-0002

So, I'm stuck on an endless loop here I bought Monster Hunter Rise a few days ago and played for some hours, saved the game and exit. When I tried to enter again to the game I got that error, looking a bit for a solution found this:
Disable steam cloud service (go to MH Rise in your library right click Proprieties > General > Steam Cloud) and quit the game to the change take effect
Delete save data from the local files (C:\Program File(x86)\Steam\usedata\(User ID)\remote\. Back up the subfolder named 1446780 to another location, than delete the orinal file from the folder
Launch the game to create new saved data
Close the game and re-enable Steam Cloud service as outlined in Step 1
The next time you launch the game, select [Upload to the Steam Cloud] in the dialogue window that appears.
Only thing I did different was that before re-enabling steam cloud I copied back my 1446780 folder into the game data location, after that I could get back to play on my file for a few hours.
When I closed the game and tried to get back again I got the same error once again, but this time the solution above doesn't works, even if I try to just delete the folder and open the game for it to be created from scratch I still get the same error, seems like doesn't matter what I try it just keeps me on that error and even if I select the option to create a new data file, after accepting terms it sends me back to the error screen.

Things that I already tried (also tried to create new data from the error screen on all of these):

Verifiyng data integrity with steam
Follow above tutorial copying my backup
Follow above tutorial without copying my backup
Opening the game without the save folder and without steam cloud
Opening the game with save folder and without steam cloud
Opening the game with save folder and with steam cloud
Sync no data into steam cloud and opening the game
Sync my backup folder into steam cloud and opening the game
Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

Edit: SOLUTION

So i found this solution, worked for me but I decided to not re-enable steam cloud, since most solutions I found seems to need to disable it, I have the theory that this is what causes the error on the first place If you aren't lucky enough so this works for you, also found this other solution on steam, seems to work for some people so I just tought about sharing it.
Happy hunting!

2023.02.28 06:13 baboopers GAMEBREAKING Greatsword bug still UNADDRESSED? It's been there since launch!

https://www.reddit.com/MHRise/comments/q9nuav/does_anyone_else_have_issues_using_greatswords_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
I have tried this on the Switch and the PC (with both controllers AND M/KB). In all of these instances, I can replicate this aiming bug consistently.

The Bug:
While charging an attack (charged slash), the only way to accurately aim where you're going land your strike is by moving your analog stick LEFT and RIGHT, or your LEFT/RIGHT key on your keyboard.
Unlike other weapons and their attacks such as the SAED on Charge Blade, where your final big strike lands wherever you are aiming FORWARD with your analog stick or your FOWARD key on your keyboard. When you try to aim GS attack (Charged Slash, Strong Charged Slash, True Charged Slash) in the same manner, the game will either a.) not register your aiming input or b.) overturn your aim so that it overshoots wherever you're aiming.
Sound complicated? Allow me to help you visualize this bug.
Using the numbers on a clock, say your character is facing 12 o'clock and you start charging up your Charged Slash. Suddenly your target shifts to your RIGHT just a tad bit. Now, in order to land your Charged Slash your character will need to turn right a little and be facing 1 o'clock. So you turn your camera right so that you are directly facing 1 o'clock and you input a FORWARD command either on your analog stick or your W key.
Under normal circumstances, EVERY single melee weapon will read this input correctly so that the attack following their Forward input will be adjusted accordingly to the direction their camera facing. BUT NOT FOR GS and IT GETS WORSE.
You realize your character is still facing 12 o'clock even after you inputted a forward command while facing 1 o'clock. You think maybe if you just turn a little bit more to the right, the directional input will be registered. But to your surprise, NOPE, your character isn't budging one bit. So you keep adjusting your aim to the right just a few more degrees until you are now directly facing 2 o'clock, and FINALLY your character starts turning. You think to yourself "pfft, this guy on reddit is being so overly dramatic over a mere 5Β°-10Β° difference. BUT before you could finish that thought, your character not only continues to turn right, it actually OVERSHOOTS 2 o'clock and before you can readjust your camera back left to compensate for the overshoot, your attacks finally lands at almost 3 o'clock.
Yes, this bug exists. And it has been there SINCE the game was released. I had quit before sunbreak was released but recently got extra free time on my hands and decided to come back assuming that given the amount of time that has elapsed, some GS user would have mentioned it or the devs themselves would have realized such a GAME BREAKING bug exists and had it patched. But NOPE, I couldn't be more wrong. So, I have taken this burden upon myself to address this bug since no one other than that 1 redditor (and some other ppl in the comments) over a year ago was preceptive enough to see it and gave enough thought to mention it.

2023.02.12 18:10 CookieBlitz Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak TU4 Heavy Bowgun Guide and Meta Sets

Hi everyone! Since nobody has published updated meta sets for TU4 for my beloved bowgun, I decided to make them my own. In addition, I'll try to make a small guide about the Heavy Bowgun, both for PC/Switch newcomers and for the upcoming console players.
I will try to summarize the analysis I did myself and also some other content creators (basically only Phemeto has uploaded a meta update, AngBata11 should upload content again soon). and also provide my own view on the builds. I also reccommend to see MaiLBG's channel for gameplay. If you are a complete newcomer to gunning in MH Rise, also check out this nice beginner's guide. Some information might be incomplete, but the majority of it should be useful still.
I apologize for not covering Normal Shots, but I don't really find them that fun or useful. If you really want to make a Normal Shot build, you should be able to adapt the Spread build pretty easily though.
If you only want to see the sets, here's the link to the Imgur album
Characteristics of the Heavy Bowgun
The HBG is the weapon with the highest damage potential in the game, comparable only to the recent addition of Frostcraft GS. However, the endgame monsters of Sunbreak move really quick and offer little openings, so the way of playing HBG is a little different than usual. We don't have any really good counters, since all of them have animations that last several seconds, leaving us open to follow-ups. This is why the playstyle has changed a bit.
For newcomers, what is the core of the HBG's gameplay?
  • Aim and shoot. Goes without saying, but aiming correctly is essential to maximize the damage. We are easily able to hit any monster part from almost any angle, so there's always an "optimal" zone to aim at. If you're playing Spread shots, you usually want to get close and shoot the weakest monster part. However, if you run Pierce shots, you might want to aim in a way that your shot pierces through the monster, ticking the 7 times.
  • Positioning. Heavy Bowgun is the only weapon in the game that has a different roll. While your HBG is unsheathed, your roll will be around half slower, but it will cover a bit more distance. This is a disadvantage since Sunbreak's combat is so fast-paced. As a result, running Evade Extender 2 is great, since it lets us side-hop most attacks safely, or use a roll to cover a great distance and reposition to be able to dish out more damage.
  • Ammo consumption. While you are able to carry 60 units of most ammo types, each weapon has a different clip size for ammos, meaning you will need to reload after shooting your entire clips. Each weapon has different reload times for each ammo, and some weapons don't let you walk and reload so you will need to make sure you won't get hit in the meantime. Additionally, you will run out of your 60 shots before you kill the monster, so you will need to craft more ammo in the middle of a hunt to keep dishing out damage. You will have to configure a radial menu shortcut to craft the ammo you're using.
And now some other interesting parts of the gameplay, which IMO are what make the HBG fun, and are also a factor in good gameplay:
  • Side hops. Right after shooting or reloading, you can press the roll button with the left stick pointing left or right to do a hop instead of a fat roll. Other weapons can do hops, too, under different circumstances. Doing a side-hop is much quicker than rolling, so if we can side-hop once or twice to reposition and shoot again it will be a DPS boost.
  • Crouching Shot. This Switch Skill lets us crouch to fire quicker than we would usually do, and these shots do additional damage. In exchange, we cannot move while doing so, and there's a heat meter that cannot be surpassed. Crouching Shot lets us do BIG damage, but it's risky to use it and finding openings for it make the difference between a good and a great HBG player. Crouching Shot can also be used as an artificial clip expander, since it won't use your regular clip ammo when fired, so even if you have 1 ammo left in your clip, you can fire a full round of crouching shots.
I think the best way of learning the HBG is by playing, so I don't want to make this explanation too extensive.

What are the additions in TU4 that are useful for gunners?

Bowguns don't really benefit from Frostcraft, so the other useful new things are:
  • Risen Valstrax's armor has a new skill called Dragon Conversion. This skill turns 8% (or 25% for melee weapons) of your total elemental resistances into flat elemental attack. Meaning that if you have 100 total elemental resistances they will be converted into 8 flat element. This is BIG. I'll talk about this more below, on the set section.
  • Risen Valstrax legs. They are better than Flaming Espinas legs, but losing Intrepid Heart is a big tradeoff. Or...?
  • Intrepid Heart is now a lvl1 decoration (!!!), becoming the best level 1 decoration in the entire game. Unlocks at anomaly research level 201. Other decorations have been added too.
  • Mail of Hellfire, Strife, Dragonheart, and other set-exclusive skills can now be augmented via qurious crafting.
So what this means is we can slot a few other skill points, such as Mail of Hellfire, or we can run Dereliction alongside other set-exclusive skills.

TU4 HEAVY BOWGUN SETS

Link to the builds: https://imgur.com/gallery/hVkH59H
All sets provided here can be crafted with an Attack Boost 3, 2-1-0 slot. However, level 1 slots are tight on gunners, so additional 1-slots are very useful. Don't be afraid of using an AB2, 2-1-1 charm, or whatever, if you need to fit other skills instead.
I always run Ballistics 2, Evade Extender 2, and also Intrepid Heart 2 + Powder Mantle 2 on raw. They're great skills but it's difficult to fit them in elemental builds.
I don't run Dereliction (on raw builds) or Dragonheart because it's more difficult to build around. If you have extraordinary charms or augments, or using modded equipment, refer to this video of Phemeto.
These sets provide a baseline. I suggest you use the Armor Set Search to fit your own charms and augments.

Pierce 3 - Chaotic Gore Magala HBG

NOTE: You can change Risen Kaiser Horns for Kaiser Crown X on the builds if you don't have enough level 1 slots. You will lose one level of powder mantle but gain more slots.
Chaotic Gore Magala HBG is the king of raw bowguns right now. While it has one less clip size than Scorned Magnamalo's HBG, it has 50% affinity when overcoming the frenzy, which is around 90% uptime with bloodlust. Natural affinity is great because with pierce you won't always be hitting weak zones to proc WEX. We can easily reach 100% affinity with this weapon and build a great set around it.
NOTE: A full round of Crouching Shots will make you overcome the frenzy.
I have made 2 builds, one for MR10 which doesn't need any decorations or equipment that must be unlocked at higher ranks, and an endgame build. The MR10 build does around 80% of the damage compared to the endgame build. You MUST have Bloodlust in order to use the Chaotic Gore weapons, so if you haven’t got Bloodlust yet, you can use the Shagaru Helm or Mail for Bloodlust.
  1. MR10 progression build: Augments are interchangeable, but since Narga Coil Xand Kaiser Mail X are more likely to get better rolls, I’d recommend getting the hardest-to-get skills on those two pieces. Realistically, you are not going to be able to qurio roll all of the skills quickly, but the skills that come with the armor and the decorations should be more than enough if you’re progressing.
  2. Endgame build: I choose to augment for MoH and get Sneak Attack since I play multiplayer, but if you play single-player you might prefer to augment for other skills. That's perfectly fine, but all damage-boosting options (Dereliction, MoH, Dragonheart, etc.) are really close in between each other, so I chose the easiest one to build around.

Spread 3- Velkhana HBG

NOTE: You can change Risen Kaiser Horns for Kaiser Crown X on the builds if you don't have enough level 1 slots. You will lose one level of powder mantle but gain more slots.
The newest addition to the roster, Velkhana, brings a great Spread Heavy Bowgun! It's comfy to use, requires few lvl 1 slots and has supportive ammo, so it's my personal favorite, over both Magnamalo and Tetranadon.
This set is very similar to the Pierce one, so you might even have an armor set that fits both builds. If you are still progressing and don't have access to Risen Elder equipment, adapt the MR10 Pierce build to your needs, it should be really similar and simple to do.

Elemental Heavy Bowgun

The winner of this TU is definitely elemental gunning. We can run Dragon Conversion and Dereliction, and augment for Furious to get an absurd elemental boost, far greater than Strife. My preliminary testing suggest that these sets do 15% to 20% more damage than TU3's sets.
If you're still progressing and don't have access to Risen Valstrax's armor, run the following set: Nephilim, Nephilim, Archfiend, Nephilim, Archfiend. Augment for Bloodlust, Ammo Up, Strife and slots or other skills. Get Crit Element, Strife and Element Exploit as possible. Other skills should be similar to the TU4 set.
Now, the TU4 sets run very short on level 1 slots, so you need to get a few 1-slots from augments or having a better charm. Try to get Low recoil, then Fast reload at least, and then the blessings if necessary.
  • Run full attack augments, or upgrade the rampage slot if you can't get Elembane and then full attack.
  • Regularly use Setting Sun to get more ammo ticks. It's a big damage boost.
  • Always stay on Red Scroll.
For augments, Furious x3 is mandatory, and I think the best option is to get MoH and Bloodlust afterwards, but other options, like x2 Strife, or slots, are also viable.

What Dangos to eat?

You have two options:
  1. Best damage: Temper lvl4, Marksman lvl3, Booster lvl1. Skewers used.
  2. If you want to use Moxie, Birdcaller or any other dango: Temper lvl2, Marksman lvl2, Other Dango lvl2. No skewers used.
Keep in mind that level 4 and 2 of Dango Temper makes your deviation worse by 1 point, while Level 3 and 1 lower it by 2 points instead. This is why I run steadiness 1 / 2 in all of the sets as needed.
Thank you so much for reading! If you have any questions, or think that the sets I posted can be further optimized I'm open for debate! Have a nice day:)

2023.02.07 14:26 Famas_1234 Sunbreak Combo Analyzer updated to v14 (TU4). Added new skills functionality and other combos

Combo analyzer updated to TU4. Here's the spreadsheet link: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1lwnJZcEsEWDODB9WT6vq0T63f3RWvv_mVRX4ogi1C34/edit?usp=sharing
Added features and changes:
So far, no MV or frame data related changes. Some rampage decos in the sheet are in the works. Armor skill related analyzer is in (ex) mode
Personal notes:
IIRC in Iceborne each weapon has their own cost on Frostcraft, the smallest was DB and the biggest was GS at that time which means GS can empty the gauge quickly. I'm sure in Sunbreak they still use the system. I forgot the cost for each weapon but I knew there was data for this back then

2023.02.06 00:05 PsychologicalCod3453 How do YOU stream Monster Hunter Rise?

I have a dual pc stream set up. My gaming pc is connected to my streaming one via HD60 S+. I have been able to stream and play every game except MH Rise. Whenever Rise is going to my streaming PC via card it freezes OBS and i have to end stream and restart. I was combing through in game settings and it says the Display of choice is the HD60, but i just want it to choose the monitor i have it displayed on. The other display options are only my second monitor, and the card is set to capture my main monitor. I feel like this issue can be resolved by switching some settings around somewhere. I have not been able to pinpoint which settings whether in game, on the gaming pc, or in OBS on my streaming one. The only OBS settings is the HD60 for a display capture so i truly feel it's nothing to do with the streaming pc. Unless someone knows something i don't which is why i'm here. Thanks in advance! Happy hunting!

Sunbreak Crowns
There are only 16 additional monsters tied up to the crown trophies for Sunbreak which are the monsters that were available at the original release of the game. You will need these 16 monsters along with all the base game crowns for the πŸ† Miniature Crown Shield and πŸ† Gold Crown Shield to unlock. Refer to the Gold Crown Shield segment of Powerpyx's guide for the full list.

For example, you may want to use a double Palamute with C Jelly Travel Bag X weapon on the Best Equipment For Sunbreak (Ranged) segment.

So I downloaded it during the release but I'm hit with this infinite " Signing In " screen and it won't load up. I was wondering if theres a fix, or people having similar issues with the PC Gamepass version.
This is what it looks like every time I boot the game up.

2023.01.19 17:38 xykshun MHRise windows store version crashes while steam version runs fine

MHRise is now on XGP, I can finally play it with my XBOX friends.
But the game shows a crash message at compiling shaders screen, while the steam version works fine. To be clear, both running on windows, not on steam OS.
Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
