| In recent weeks, the escalating wildfires in Canada have caused smoke to drift southward into the United States, affecting the air quality of millions of people in the Northeast, Midwest, and Mid-Atlantic regions. In New York City, the air quality index has skyrocketed to "dangerous" levels, deemed "very unhealthy." Wildfire smoke is composed of a mixture of fine particulate matter, gaseous pollutants, and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), with fine particulate matter being the primary component. The tiny yet dangerous PM2.5 particles in wildfire smoke can penetrate deep into lung tissues and enter the bloodstream, leading to various health issues including asthma, heart disease, and other respiratory ailments. Whether indoors or outdoors, the air we breathe always contains particulate matter pollution. Due to their small size, these particles can easily penetrate indoor spaces, resulting in increased indoor particle concentrations. It is important to note that during periods of haze caused by wildfire smoke, a significant portion of the air we breathe, both indoors and outdoors, is laden with particulate matter pollution. To improve indoor air quality and reduce exposure to particulate matter pollution, Jafända air purifiers offer a solution to enhance the indoor environment. Jafända boasts a team of over 20 experts in indoor pollution and health, committed to providing cleaner and healthier air for every household. Jafända air purifiers feature a triple filtration system, including a pre-filter that captures hair, pet fur, and fibers, an H13 true HEPA filter that removes allergens, mold, pet dander, dust, and viruses, and an activated carbon filter that absorbs smoke odors, pet smells, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and cooking odors. This combination of filters helps remove potential harmful pollutants from the air, resulting in cleaner and safer indoor air. For those in need of high Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) air purifiers suitable for larger rooms, Jafända recommends the JF888 air purifier. With a CADR of 488 CFM (830m³/h), it can cover 3,800 square feet every hour, 1,900 square feet twice per hour, and 760 square feet five times per hour. This makes it highly suitable for use in homes, classrooms, hallways, and offices. The wildfires in Canada and their impact on air quality in the United States are a cause for concern. To protect oneself and family members from smoke pollution, it is crucial to stay informed about air quality conditions and take measures to improve indoor air quality. Jafända air purifiers are a trusted brand that provides effective solutions for enhancing the indoor environment and improving air quality. Visit the official Jafända website ( www.jafanda.com) and the Amazon store for more information. https://preview.redd.it/j1zoflj74s4b1.jpg?width=1464&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a51edc923196d3ddba5daac672f15c9d73da6039 submitted by jafandaus to u/jafandaus [link] [comments] |

2023.06.08 13:08 TheRetroWorkshop Open Letter: The Switch Isn't Dead. It's Not Even Dying...
TL; DR: Unless Nintendo has some serious plans hidden away (i.e. whole new console for 2024), there is no way the Switch is dead pre-2030. If Nintendo comes out with either Switch Lite 2.0 and/or Switch Pro circa 2024-2026, then it's very much alive until at least 2026-2028.
Of course, after that, there will still be millions of core Switch fans that don't move to the new console until it's cheapebetter, if at all; thus, the Switch will remain fairly alive until at least 2027, if not 2035. Years after its end, as is the case with most major consoles.
Following the logic of YouTubers, the PS4 must be 'dead' now, since it no longer has new major games, and the PS5 is going strong. Yet, the PS4 is still actively supported by Sony, and has millions of core users. The PS4 won't be dead until at least 2030 (17 years). Just like the PSP, Xbox 360, and others (16–17 years).
Consoles seem to die about half-way into the life of the next generation. In other words, about 15 years (where a whole generation is akin to a whole generation of users: 25 years). This makes perfect sense.
Thus,
the Switch will last, overall, at least 15 years (2017-2032). Let's talk about it. So, there has been a lot of talk over the last few months, that the Switch is coming to an end (at least, somewhat officially). The problem is as follows:
- Even if Nintendo has major Switch Pro plans for 2024-2025, the Switch OLED is still pretty new and selling fairly well.
- They are still pumping out lots of digital content, and new physical games are going to be pumped out into 2024, at least.
- There is unspeakable support for the Switch overall, considering the strong fanbase across the Internet, and the unit sales (according to this Wiki page, reporting the sales at around 125 million as of mid-2023, making it one of the best-selling consoles of all time), driven by its hybrid nature, lack of major competition, and Switch-only titles.
Yes, most of these unit sales are from 2017-2018 with the original Switch, as everybody rushed on it. But, it's still selling about as good as any other single console right now, if you compare all the numbers. (Note that the Wiki link above also shows that every other niche, hybrid, and/or handheld console is failing horribly, or else doesn't even exist. There are no realistic alternatives to the Switch. The numbers speak for themselves. Maybe the PlayStation Q takes off, but I don't think it'll reach Switch levels at all, for a few reasons -- and it won't hurt Switch sales too much.)
Further, if Nintendo merely updates the Switch family in some way, even as early as late-2024, then there won't be much -- if any -- shift away from the Switch as such until at least 2026, with support remaining until at least 2030. It's illogical for them to bring out a Switch Pro for just 1–2 years; and it's illogical for them to radically shift away from the Switch family of consoles too early!
Following this logic, the Switch family (v1 through Pro) must remain not only official, but very much alive until at least 2026. This is in keeping with the life span of such a dominant, wide-ranging (either at the level of hardware or software) consoles, as the Game Boy, PS2, and Wii. After that, it shall remain semi-supported and semi-popular until at least 2030.
The fact that Tears of the Kingdom is the last big Zelda game on the system does not mean it's coming to an end. Yet, I have heard this a few times from big YouTubers and such over the last few weeks.
Let's have a look at the facts.
Hardware On the unit/model front, we know that it's likely that a Pro model comes along by 2024 and remains strong until at least 2026. We know this because that's how it has been for almost every major console (from all companies) since the late-1990s.
The Switch is, of course, both handheld and home, which is a bit messy -- but it's primarily a home console (if we look at the stats on sales and how most people play with it). However, it's possible that we don't get the Switch Pro until 2025 or so, only furthering the life span (unless there is a whole cultural move away from the Switch, which seems unlikely).
To make a long story short, we typically see a new model/upgrade to a system every 2 years, for a total of 3–4 upgrades. After that, the system itself is slowly phased out for 2–6 years, until the new system comes out (i.e. PS4 > PS5), giving us a total life of around 8–14 years. Obviously, this depends on many factors, including (a) company direction; (b) tech issues/exact nature of the system; and (c) how long you can keep the current system dominant/strong for. After that, you will have a few extra years of support and/or popularity, until it's fully dead after around 12–18 years.
Even if the new Switch Pro only sells 20 million units, if you couple that with the 15 million OLED sales (as of 2023), then that's still close to the PS5 sales, and that's only 30% of the entire Switch family/models!
We are not only not near the end of the Switch, we're really only about 50% of the way through, I believe. But, you may define 'end of life' differently. If you define 'end of life' as, 'last massive title', then you may be correct: unclear. But, that seems moot, if it still remains popular and supported for years to come.
Software So, let's look into this idea that
every Nintendo console ends with a big Zelda game.
- The NES ended with Zelda II in 1987, yet the SNES did not come out until 1990 (and the NES still saw support and popularity for a few years, more so outside of Japan and America, as everywhere else got it much later). Let's just call it 4 years, then. However, we saw a few popular titles for the NES, post-1990, including Mega Man 6, Pac-Man, Jurassic Park, Alien 3, Bomberman II, Batman Returns, Mega Man 5, Contra Force, Panic Restaurant, Yoshi, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, The Addams Family, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 3, Dr. Mario, Castlevania III, and Final Fantasy.
- The SNES ended with A Link to the Past in 1991, yet the N64 did not come out until 1996 (and the SNES still saw support and popularity for a few years, more so outside of Japan and America, as everywhere else got it much later). Let's just call it 6 years, then. However, we saw a few popular titles for the SNES, post-1996, including Frogger, Kirby's Dream Land 3, Madden NFL 98, Space Invaders, Harvest Moon, Donkey Kong Country 3, SimCity 2000, Ms. Pac-Man, and Super Mario RPG.
- The N64 ended with Majora's Mask in 2000, and the GameCube did come out in 2001 (more so, 2002 world-wide). Of course, the N64 still remained popular into the 2000s, and saw some popular titles between 2000 and 2002 (after the last Zelda game), including Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 and 3, Dr. Mario 64, Madden NFL 2002, Pokémon Stadium 2, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Paper Mario, Banjo-Tooie, Spider-Man, Batman Beyond, Star Wars Episode I, and Mega Man 64.
- The GameCube ended with Twilight Princess in 2006, and the Wii came out in 2006. Well, this was right on the money. No major titles came out post-Princess. This was a clear shift to kill the GameCube and replace it with the Wii, a whole new direction (likely because the GameCube was failing, and they had no hope of directly competing with the PS2/Xbox). And, it was one of the last games for the GameCube.
- The Wii ended with Skyward Sword in 2011, and the Wii U came out in 2012 (but, the world did not get it until 2013 or so). However, the Wii got some major titles or ports post-2011, including Mario Party 9, LEGO Batman 2, The Amazing Spider-Man, LEGO: The Lord of the Rings. And, it remained popular beyond this point, of course.
- The Wii U ended in 2017 with Breath of the Wild, and the Switch came out in 2017 with the same title. However, the Wii U is also still fairly popular (and is a decent home version of the Switch for many core titles, such as Zelda), though no major games came out after Breath of the Wild! Some people still play the Wii U instead of the Switch as of 2023; however, the store was just closed in 2023, so it's really ending now, after 11 years.
- The Switch has just seen Tears of the Kingdom this year (2023), with the Switch having arrived with Breath of the Wild in 2017. Well, if the home consoles are any indication, we at least have a few years left before the Switch is fully dead: more likely that we see at least 5 cool games over 2023 and 2024, and a few years of semi-support after that as millions keep playing the games that already exist.
Of course, it's a bit more confusing than this, given all the handhelds. And, it's possible that Nintendo plans on really sticking with the Switch, in which case, they may be planning on a third Zelda game for it, or else a new massive Mario game. That will boost its energy again, more so, if coupled with a Pro model circa 2024-2025.
All of this leads me to believe that the Switch will not die until at least 2030 (and the final support won't end until at least 2035), with or without another Zelda game! However, something will be required: either a Switch Pro, a Switch Lite 2.0, and/or a new massive game outside of Zelda. And, I'm 90% certain that at least one of these is coming by 2025. Remember: worst case for the Switch is that they bring out a whole new console by 2024-2025, and slowly phase out the Switch. This still won't truly kill the Switch until at least 2030. I wouldn't call that 'soon', as some people are! That's still many years left. (I do think it's a great time to buy the OLED, however -- and it does seem that 90% of the library is complete now. Unless you really want to wait to see what they have planned for 2024-2025. Of course, the Switch Lite itself seems like a decent option purely for handheld, though it may be a struggle for big hands: there is mixed evidence on this. I
don't think a Switch Lite 2.0 is likely at all, but take that with a grain of salt, as it's impossible to know.)
Remember, too: Nintendo has stated that it won't be gifting us new hardware until at least mid-2024; instead, it's focusing on new games and ports as the Switch grows out. Seems logical to me, and pretty good news for the fans.
Tears of the Kingdom is not the end, but more like mid-journey for the Switch family,
with or without a new console -- so, just enjoy the ride. :)

2023.06.08 12:40 superkilometerfilter What Is The Best Car Ever Made?
| How do we determine what is the best car ever made? Do we treat all vehicles the same and compare muscle cars with SUVs? These are the questions that come to mind whenever we talk about the best models out there. Luckily, we usually evaluate the performance of each car in its category. That way, we can avoid confusion and find vehicles that are truly steeped with superior qualities. Today we’ll concentrate on fuel efficiency and discuss cars that have higher mpg. We’ll list down several models that dominate their category and provide you with several options. So, what is the best gas mileage car ever? WHAT IS MPG AND WHY DOES IT MEASURE FUEL EFFICIENCY? Mileage per gallon (mpg) represents how many miles your vehicle travels with a single gallon of gas. The higher that number, the more fuel-efficient the car is. There are several tips and tricks that help you to increase car mileage. But who measures the mpg? – in the US, it’s the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It tests cars in casual situations and calculates the average accordingly. Frequent stops, traffic, your speed – these are the factors that affect fuel efficiency significantly. Therefore, a car will have a different mpg on the highway and in the city. To give us the full information, EPA tells us the mpg in the city, on the highway, and combined. Even though the mpg won’t be exactly the same in real life, it still helps us calculate the fuel costs before we purchase a vehicle. It’s a great starting point if you want to know how affordable a car will be to maintain. Even thought there are many ways to take good care of a car, and improve its current condition. However, fuel-efficiency is one of the outstanding detail while buying a vehicle. Therefore, when we’re talking about the vehicle with the best gas mileage, you should take its mpg with a grain of salt. What happens with electric vehicles that don’t employ gas at all? – their efficiency is measured with MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent). It attempts to equate one gallon of gas with 1 unit of energy. Thus, MPGe represents how much distance a vehicle can travel per 1 unit of energy. To figure out what is the best electric car ever, it’s important to include MPGe in our evaluations. WHAT IS THE BEST GAS MILEAGE CAR EVER? Top 5 non-electric/non-hybrid options The best non-electric car for gas mileage is certainly Mitsubishi Mirage. It’s proven to have the highest mpg, making it quite cheap to drive in the city or on the highway. Before discussing what is the best hybrid car ever, it’s important to check out non-hybrid options first. Even though Mirage is the most fuel-efficient, other models have impressive mpg as well. Mitsubishi Mirage With a combined mpg of 39, Mitsubishi Mirage is one of the cheapest vehicles in the US. Even though it can’t brag about a powerful engine or impressive horsepower, it surely beats other contenders in terms of gas mileage. If you’re looking for an affordable vehicle for daily errands around the city, this fella will deliver without any doubt. Hyundai Elantra Hyundai Elantra comes quite close to the Mirage with 37 mpg combined. Even though its mpg is slightly lower, Elantra outperforms the Mirage quite a bit. It has attractive looks inside and out, combined with 147 horsepower. A great affordable choice indeed. Hyundai Accent If you don’t like the Elantra for some reason, you can go for Hyundai Accent and benefit from its 36 mpg combined. This bad boy has 120 horsepower and a good enough engine to drive you through a city. Its attractive infotainment system will keep you occupied during your highway rides. Kia Rio Kia Rio is another great option if you want to invest in a fuel-efficient model. It offers 36 miles per gallon combined which is still quite an impressive number. Plus, Rio is among the top safe picks, which means it’s a vehicle you can trust on the road. Honda Civic Honda Civic is a classic for those who have been into affordable vehicles for a while. Its 36 mpg is enough to save you some money on fuel. It’s an amazing option overall. WHAT IS THE BEST ELECTRIC CAR EVER? Top 5 electric models with highest MPGe The best electric car in terms of MPGe is certainly the 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD, which means it’s worth your attention if you’re wondering what is the best car ever made. Other EVs offer comparable performance as well, which is why we’ve included them in the list of best electric cars. 2019 Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD Tesla Model 3 gets 123 MPGe which is quite impressive, to say the least. However, other features aren’t too shy either. It has a one-speed automatic transmission and a comfortable 4-wheel drive. If you’re wondering what car has the best gas mileage ever on the electric market, Tesla Model 3 Long Range AWD could be your answer. 2019 Hyundai IONIQ EV Electric Hyundai Ioniq EV Electric is another great option if you don’t want to go for the Tesla. Its selling point is certainly a whopping 122 MPGe. It’s on the same level as Tesla in terms of energy efficiency. Plus, it comes with all the modern features. 2019 Nissan LEAF S Of course, we had to include the 2019 Nissan Leaf S in this list. It sacrifices MPGe for a more powerful engine. Namely, it has a 147 horsepower engine which is more than its fellow Ioniq could offer. Yet energy efficiency is lower here with only 112 MPGe. 2019 Volkswagen e-Golf SE 2019 Volkswagen e-Golf SE is on the same level as Nissan Leaf when it comes to energy efficiency. It offers 111 MPGe, which is not that bad for an electric vehicle. The engine is decent enough to deliver comfortable performance, while the modern features make it perfect for those who love simplicity. 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV LT If you want to go for an American model, the 2019 Chevrolet Bolt EV LT is a perfect option. Even though the MPGe is slightly lower here (110), the engine is quite powerful. It has 200 horsepower, which is way more than we’ve seen with previous cars. WHAT IS THE BEST HYBRID CAR EVER? Top 5 hybrid and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models It’s really hard to say what is the best gas mileage car ever on the hybrid market, yet we can discuss several models that could easily wear the title of the best. They might not be the best vehicles ever made, yet they are among the most distinguishing hybrids and PHEVs. 2021 Volvo XC90 If you want to drive a luxury plug-in hybrid, the newest Volvo XC90 is a wonderful option. It might not have the greatest electric range, yet its interior will submerge you in fanciness and comfort. It’s equipped with all the modern features, making it possible to enjoy the newest developments in the automotive industry. You could also go for a used 2018 Volvo XC60 T8 if you don’t want to spend less. Honda Clarity Plug-in Hybrid 2018-2019 Honda Clarity has an impressive range both on the electric and gasoline side. It’s a perfect midway vehicle between a classic hybrid and a fully electric model. It has quick acceleration and amazing handling, making it attractive for adventurous drivers. Kia Optima Plug-in-Hybrid We couldn’t compile this list without including a Kia model. Their Optima is a great option if you want to drive comfortably. It’s perfect for city and highway driving. Its engine is quite impressive for a PHEV. Chevrolet Volt Chevrolet Volt is another great option for those who are looking for a great electric and gasoline range. It can easily cover 420 miles with a full charge if you fill the tank to the fullest. If you use the electric side only, you’ll cover around 53 miles. It’s great for everyday rides. Toyota Prius Toyota might not be the most reliable brand out there, yet their hybrids are always among the list of the best hybrids. If you’re wondering what is the best used car ever made, the Prius could easily be an option. YOU SHOULD CHOOSE THE BEST TOOL FOR YOUR AUTO If you find yourself an owner of one of the models listed, congratulations on that. Owning a reliable automobile with good gas mileage is comfortable in terms of fuel efficiency, maintenance, or insurance. So, if you decide to test your automobile efficiently, try to choose the quality products which don’t not only meet but exceed your expectations. Where should you find them? A premium-quality tool such as a Mileage Blocker is for sale in our online shop. It will help you to test your auto in a controlled environment. It can halt the mileage recording process from all control units. The module is superior to its counterfeits, it’s reliable and composed of premium-quality components which ensure flawless performance. CONCLUSION Fuel efficiency isn’t just an environmental commitment – it’s also a great way to save some money on gas. Today we’ve discussed hybrid, non-hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric models to present the full range of options you have. You already know what is the best mpg car ever – you simply have to pick out the type and model that suits your daily needs the most. submitted by superkilometerfilter to u/superkilometerfilter [link] [comments] |
2023.06.08 12:20 dutch75 Pre teen activities
Hi Fathers,
I'm looking for some ideas for activities to do with my 12-year-old daughter when is here for visitation. My ex and I share custody, so she's here every other weekend, and one week on, one week off during the summer. I want to make sure she has fun and feels like she's getting to spend quality time with me, but I'm also at a loss for ideas.
She's really into girly stuff like shopping or getting her nails done. She's also into active stuff like sports and playing outside. She's also a bit of a bookworm, so I'm always looking for new books to recommend to her.
She lives about an hour away from me, so she can’t really do things with her friends on a whim as she could at home, and unfortunately, she hasn’t met anyone here.
I'm open to any and all suggestions! We live in a relatively large city (Jacksonville, FL), so there are plenty of options for things to do. We also have a car, so we can travel to other places if necessary.
One caveat is that I’ll be working during the day next week, but fortunately, I work in sales and I am able to come home periodically to check on her. Also to note, my 10-year-old son (her brother) will be here too.
Thanks in advance for your help!
Sincerely, A Dad Who Wants to Make His Daughter Happy

Hi everyone,
I'm looking for some ideas for activities to do with my 13-year-old daughter when is here for visitation. 2023.06.08 11:44 Economy_Analysis587 Need help for traveling Sydney for the first time
Hi :)
I just booked a round trip to Sydney, and it's 16 days staying.
It was an impulsive decision. I've been through depression over a year and letting it out through buying things, which apperantly doesnt work. Looking for another thing to buy and stack, I found a sale for the tickets and here I am. I had no clue about traveling Sydney, just with the images of nice people and peaceful scenery, which I think is exactly what I want. It's been a year and half since my 10-year relationship ended, and this is my first time traveling alone. So it worries me that it might worsen my depression.
So, could you give some advice for me? I like to walk and see the architectures, read with coffee, love arts and museums. Jogging in the morning and watching the sunrise is kind of my thing when traveling. I want to have a peaceful time there, hoping it will help me get through.
Some of my friends said it is too long to stay just in Sydney and I have to try another city or some recommend me to cancel the tickets. Maybe it was a silly decision but still my heart leans toward Sydney. Sorry that I am not making myself clear here. Idk what I want to say either. I think I just want to know what Sydneysiders think about my decision, since I think I am being too optimistic without any information.
Thanks :)

2023.06.08 11:14 Inner-Ad3066 FUCK BEST BUY MANAGEMENT
Worked for Best Buy for 5 years. last 3 worked in cell phones for a specific carrier. we earned monthly bonuses by meeting specific sales goals. I depended on these bonuses to survive (living costs in Southern California, living on my own from age 19, I was about 24 then.)
One day our manager held a meeting explaining that the bonus structure had changed. The bonus structure itself however didn't change, the bonus frequency went from every month to every 3 months. Same structure in percentage and amount just had to wait 3 months for the bulk sum instead of every month.
I spoke to my direct manager expressing that It simply wasn't possible for me to wait 3 months because I consistently earned bonuses out of utter necessity to pay rent every month. she replied "well its ok because its the same amount right?" I reminded her "rent is due every month" she responded with something like "you'll be fine, you can figure it out"
weeks later I was having a breakdown because I was about to get evicted and I was called into the office with multiple managers, after discussion of many other issues I focused back on the main issue of my wages being held and causing me to be evicted from my home and the same manager I had spoken to before said "well what's been your living situation?" I was taken aback because I felt it was weird that such a cold manager would suddenly ask such a personal question. caught off guard I answered "im by myself" she suddenly said "you could have told us, we had a place renting and *** and *** moved in" she was implying an invitation to live and pay rent with her along with two other coworkers and her employee boyfriend" The final conversation in the office that day included me breaking down in tears, requesting mental health services or at least contacts... a different manager just said "you know I can fire you for anything I want right? I can write you up now"
needless to say I quit that day. never got any closure as to what the reasoning/justification was for holding our bonuses for 3 months. got evicted, moved to a diff city and eventually out of state shortly after.
Ive got a lot more stories previous to this but just needed to get this one off my chest, holding it for like 5+ years.

2023.06.08 11:10 baconhammock69 Investing in a small restaurant, Good idea?
Hi Everyone,
First post, Iso go easy on me!
So basically I've got a situation where I've fallen in love with a small restaurant in my city, they make fantastic South American dishes, the owner currently does mostly bar take overs, residences and events, but I understand they're looking to open up a permanent residence at some point in the near future, because they've gained so much attention in the past year.
I want to approach him and offer to invest because I genuinely think he / we could make something of this venture, but I wanted to just pick a few brains on here really as I've never invested in a business before, but it's something I've always wanted to do as a way to diversify a little and quite frankly have something more interesting to invest in than an index fund!
My questions are:
- Is having basically no experience in the restaurant / hospitality industry a real issue? I'm hoping to be a mostly silent partner here, I do have some experience I can bring to the table (sorry for the pun) but it's mostly around marketing / sales and maybe a few contacts that could help.
- I understand it's a high risk venture, but even if it's successful will it actually see that much of a return all said and done? I'm not in a rush of course.
- Should I simply ask for X% of the business and get a contract written up, the legal bases covered or is there a different way of going about it?*
Apologies for all the questions, I'm typically quite a safe boring person with investments and want to test my comfort zone a little but at the same time not make any stupid / rookie mistakes with my 1st and hopefully not last investment in smaller businesses.
TIA
*For context I know the guy, but I wouldn't consider him a friend, so our relationship would be professional rather than personal.

2023.06.08 09:57 Ipod732 25 [M4F] California - A Definitive Advertisement To Find That Someone
Hello! I've posted here on r4r a handful of times now and I wanted to try and write up a more definitive ad. Every time I've written up a new one it contained new information or less information than a previous post so, I'm going to try and compile it all into one master post. That way everything there is to decide whether you'd like to message me is easily available and accessible to you without having to dig around a dozen other posts.
Now that the "prologue" is out of the way let's jump into why you're here and what it is I'm looking for.
Who Am I? - Future Lawyer - Currently working as a Student Attorney this Summer at my school's legal clinic before my final year of law school. Will probably be taking the Bar July of 2024. I'm not sure as to what kind of law I'll be doing as a full fledged lawyer, but I know I intend to practice here in California. I'm working in Sacramento.
- Philosopher - I got my BA in Philosophy from UC Berkeley. I've always enjoyed philosophical discussion and occasionally write philosophical pieces. I was always into the classical Greek philosophers; Socrates/Plato and Aristotle. If you ever need a deep conversation we can delve into the depths of any subject.
- ENTJ/Leo - For those that enjoy Horoscopes or Myers Briggs tests. I'm an extrovert. I enjoy people and being alone is draining for me. I'm a bit shy and anxious at first, but once I'm comfortable that all goes away.
- Muslim - I know religion can be a big deal for some people, but I don't ask that anyone hold similar religious views as me. As long as we both value humanity, family, and general goodness, a difference in religion shouldn't be an issue. As a Muslim I don't drink and I don't eat pork. I don't care if you do. I'm not the best at praying (it's something I should fix) and I don't do the prayers (I generally just recite prayers to myself without doing the ritual aspects). I do fast during Ramadan.
- Drug Free - I also refrain from smoking and doing drugs. I just ask that if you do any drugs it's no more than weed, but ideally you don't smoke. I just don't like the smell lol and it sets me into a coughing fit if I'm around people that are smoking.
- Writer - I enjoy writing if you couldn't tell from the absurd length of this post. I apologize in advance. I write short stories, philosophy, political opinion, and whatever else comes to mind when I feel inspired.
- Traveler - I've traveled to a handful of places and there are a handful more I'd like to complete. I've been to Italy, Ireland(for a day), Austria, Hungary, Germany, Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan
Things I enjoy: - Mythology - Especially Greek mythology which I'm more acquainted with. My favorite myth is Orpheus or as some know it from the play Eurydice which I have yet to see or read. Also love the myth of Sysiphus hauling the giant boulder up and the one about Prometheus stealing fire for mankind.
- Literature - I try and read on occasion. Haven't been too successful. The last book I completed was last winter and that was Robert Heinlein's Starship Troopers. Trying to get through Homer's Iliad at the moment before jumping to Homer's Odyssey. Some of my favorite books include: Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men, Rand's Atlas Shrugged, Tolkien's The Hobbit, Luo Guanzhong's Romance of Three Kingdoms, and lots more.
- Gaming - PC Gamer, but do own consoles like the Switch, 360, PS4. I just bought a Gameboy Advance SP to play some old Pokemon games. I have a Gameboy Advance, but it doesn't have the light and the battery exploded inside it, rip...
- Movies/Shows - I love films. I watch a lot of foreign stuff too like Kdramas, Chinese, Japanese, language doesn't matter as long as it's good and it has subtitles for me to read. My favorite film of all time is The Godfather. Some of my favorite shows include Game of Thrones(prior to season 8 of course), Better Call Saul, South Park, Rick and Morty, Criminal Minds(before they changed the whole cast), and plenty more.
- Anime - I could've put the animated cartoons in here too, but I'm currently watching Dr. Stone. Some of my favorites include: Steins;Gate, Kaiji, Legend of the Galactic Heroes(the original although the new one is alright), Death Note, and plenty more.
- Comedy - Love a good comedy show. I've been to a few clubs, the Ice House down in Pasadena, the Laugh Factory in Vegas, and Cobbs in San Francisco.
- Sports - Big fan of Soccer. Watch the Premier League when I get the chance and try and keep up. Man United fan. Also enjoy going to Sacramento Republic games. Football is cool too, 49ers. Watch Basketball on the rare occasion as well, Sacramento Kings.
- Music - Rock and Metal fan. Going to be seeing Nickelback in July and I want to see Disturbed in July as well, but have no one to go with, rip. Some of my favorite bands include: Green Day(who I got to see live alongside Weezer and Fall Out Boy), Rise Against, Five Finger Death Punch, Disturbed, and a handful of others. My music tastes can be a bit eclectic, but rock and metal is my go to.
- Tea - I'll definitely brew you some tea someday. I enjoy black tea for the most part. I order loose-leaf tea online. I enjoy Assam, Darjeerling, Oolong, Pu-erh, Keemun, Earl Grey, and more.
- Museums - A big fan of history so I enjoy going to museums and looking at old things. Love Renaissance/Enlightenment period artwork. Just about any kind of museum is cool. I love learning new things.
- Going out in General - Whether it's hiking in nature among the redwoods, going to a bar, dancing at a club/bar, eating out, or bowling with friends. I'm good for just about anywhere as I like getting out of the house.
- Homebody - As much as I enjoy going out and exploring new places, sometimes I need a break from adventure and enjoy relaxing at home. Play some board games.
- DnD - I'm relatively new to it, but I'm DMing currently for a group of friends that I played my first campaign with. Been playing around two years now if not three (a bit on and off due to scheduling conflicts).
What I'm Looking For? A woman who I can meet, befriend, love, marry, have kids, and grow old with. I'm a hopeless romantic, I guess lol. It would go in that order and as for the timeline, that's for fate to decide.
Age - Ideally 21+, but will accept as long as you're 18+. Ideal age range 21-30. If you're slightly older or slightly younger that's fine too. +/- 7 is the general rule of thumb.
Looks - Personality beats looks, but attraction is still important. I don't have a type per se. Don't really care about race/ethnicity. I'm trying to work on my weight myself so I rather not cast a stone at a glass house, but proportionality is something I find attractive. A gym partner or someone who can help me with my weight would also be appreciated(we can run together or go hike, etc.)
Personality - I find that sometimes when I'm not attracted to a person , their personality attracts me to them. Personality can elevate a 5 to a 10 or reduce a 10 to a 1 instantly. All I ask is that you're intelligent(a woman who can think for herself, articulate her thoughts, and is able to challenge me when I'm wrong), kind, communicative(communication is key in any relationship), and is sociable(don't need to be extroverted, just able to socialize when the situation calls for it).
Location - In California, looking to move to California, or willing to relocate (a hard ask considering everyone is leaving California lol). For the foreseeable future, I'm stuck here for work and family. Maybe someday I'll have a nice plot of land in the middle of nowhere and can live off the fatta the land with some rabbits. If you read the post and know the book, you got the reference.
What can I Give You? Tea - As I mentioned before, I'll brew you tea and sometimes I might have a good story to tell over tea lol.
Laughter - I have a contagious laugh and I enjoy joking around. I laugh at most things so it's not too hard to elicit a laugh from me which might get you laughing too.
Adventure - I like visiting new places with friends or a companion so as long as you desire it, we can always adventure out to new places. Whether it's a beach, a new city, a forest, mountain, you name it, we can go.
Optimism - I have a generally happy-go-lucky attitude with life and I'll be happy to reassure you life is good and things will be fine. And if you need the opposite with harsh realism, ask and you shall receive lol.
Hygiene - I do my best to keep myself clean. I also wash my own dishes. I try to keep my home clean, but it's a bit difficult when you're never home. I bought my first condo in 2021 and now I understand why people rent. It's difficult to maintain everything and expensive. And on top of all that you gotta keep it clean even when you're not home.
Attention - As much as you desire. I enjoy people and having someone around all the time is fine by me. I also don't mind some alone time and lawyer stuff can be a bit time-consuming.
Food - I can't cook, but I'll try. I tried to make sushi and failed two weekends ago. Rice was too sticky and too hot. Also the sashimi refused to thaw no matter how long I waited(was well over 12 hours...) But wrapping it was actually easier than I expected just not evenly distributed along the roll.
I think that covered everything I needed to add or wanted to add in here. If I come up with more I'll be updating this master ad over time. Feel free to message me or use the chat feature. Also if you like we can move to Discord, feel free to ask for it. Attached is a photo of me as well. Thanks for bearing through this long post. And if you didn't read it all, that's fine. It's too damn long.

2023.06.08 09:46 Zikari82 Why are there no PSVR2 demo systems in Sony Stores or other Retailers?
While the actual sales numbers are a point of debate, likely Sony would have hoped for PSVR2 making a bigger splash than it did. In my opinion they are making the same grave go-to-market mistake most other VR hardware producers make: there are no or next to no trial options!
Think about it, there are dozens of stores in my city where I can buy a PSVR2 unit, from tech retailers, to game shops or official Sony stores, but none where I can actually try the thing before making a purchase decision. My only hands on experience with PSVR was an insurance roadshow where they had a PSVR1 system for kids to try Driveclub, I played for 10 minutes and had a headache the rest of the day. Now can I afort a PSVR2 without much thought sure, would I commit to that purchase without an extensive hands-on session, absolutely not. Samsung absolutely stiffed each of there stores with Galaxy Gear demo points a couple of years back when they releases this little gadget and I'm sure we will see Apple Vision being available in most Apple stores around release for hands-on. Why is Sony not doing this?
If Sony was serious about selling more PSVR2 units they should make sure their own stores have demo systems, partner with big gaming retailers to put demo systems in Gamestop and so on. VR has to be sold as an experience, no amount of youtube videos showcase, product reviews, high-gloss ads or tech specs can shift units here, potential consumers need to be able to try it. Sure, there is a chance people will decide it is not for them and avoid a purchase, but on the other hand, at least for myself, I can say without trying it there is zero chance I will purchase any VR system.
Question to the PSVPSVR2 owners, did you had the chance to try before you decided to purchase?

2023.06.08 09:14 billybumbutt Bellroy? Aer? Something else? Can't seem to find a bag that fits my needs.
Been around with bags, a disease at this point.
Been using the Bellroy Transit Workpack (20L) for a while now. It works because:
- It's lightweight.
- Zippers are smooth, materials are soft, and compartments are buttery to interact with, yet durable.
- Practical, fits all my needs and gives me more space than I need.
It doesn't work because:
- There's no strap for luggage handles on the back, making travel a bit inconvenient.
- Has a little too much space for my needs. I would love a 16-18L version with slightly smaller dimensions.
Thought I'd try out the Aer Pro Pack 20L, but was disappointed. While it's spacious, functional for most people and a lot of my needs, and padding is fantastic:
- I forgot how rigid and stiff their bags are. While this "durability" is needed for some, I'm just going in and out of meetings in the city and some travel here and there. I need to practically wrestle with the bag to get anything in and out (slight exaggeration) due to its stiffness.
- Zippers are no where close to how buttery smooth zippers are on the Bellroy bag.
- It's bulkier than I imagined, bulkier than the Bellroy, I wanted something smaller, not bigger or bulkier.
- Has way more compartments than I need.
- Not to anyone's fault, but as it was an international order, it's a final sale.
Thinking of getting the Aer City Pack, but worried again as its a final sale and it doesn't seem smaller or less bulkier than the Pro Pack. I would safely presume the same rigidity and stiffness.
Here's what I'm not looking for:
- Tom Bihn: Butt-ugly (no offense).
- WANDRD: Too photography focused.
- Peak Design: Too photography focused, not a fan of the side panels for my needs, not sure it's smaller.
- Black Ember: Seem cool, seem bulkiebigger. Can reconsider.
- Bellroy: Via Backpack (don't like the light beige interior), Classic Backpack Compact (no luggage strap at the back).
- Topo Design: Nothing that I liked.
- TUMI: Don't want to go back, cool, but overly priced.
I carry: MacBook Air 14", small pouch with gym shorts, power bank (for laptop + phone), two cables, two small adapter cables, two tiny bottles (bug spray, hand sanitizer), small pills container, 1L water bottle, sunglasses hardcase, small wallet, AirPods, small MagSafe battery pack.
Any guidance?
