My family and I have decided to rent a place in Scotland for all of June and July this year. We’re coming from the states for our summer break.
What websites or apps should we utilize for finding a rental of that duration?
Would like to avoid Vrbo and Airbnb. Looking for monthly fees, not nightly. Are there any local to-let posting sites?
We could stay anywhere, Fife is on the short list, but we really don’t care where!

What the title says
When I go to a video it either says VIDEO WAS REMOVED or SOMETHING WENT WRONG. All videos. URL is of no importance. I can scroll all or any subreddit you choose and not a single video plays.
REMEDIATION:
Validated all videos work on desktop
Apparently clearing the app cache is no longer a thing or an option in iOS, so thanks.
Tried using a third party app (Apollo) and it just remained on a black screen
Restarted app
Reinstalled app
No change anywhere.
This started a few days ago as far as I can tell, if it was happening before that I didn't notice.

In case you can't open or read that, the person is asking for help communicating with a person who was dying and in the hospital. The patient cannot talk but is aware and can move eyes, so a communication board was needed.
This type of communication is tedious but not difficult. I looked up a few free downloads for communication boards / sheets and responded offering to help, or to show them how to do it themselves.
(This should be something that the hospital staff have & can use, or at the very least they know about this simple technology and can ring social services or occupational therapy to bring it to the room.)
The person who answered my text was confused at first, but after seeing the ad remembered it. Said that the man died years ago. (There's no date on the ad!)

When I turn my Switch on (if the TV is off), the TV turns on and automatically switches to the correct HDMI 2 source.

When I turn my PC on (if the TV is off), I have to manually turn the TV on and switch back to HDMI 1.

My PC build is pretty modern so I'm quite surprised it doesnt work!

Requirements

1. Windows OS computer with a mouse and keyboard.
2. Notepad++ from https://notepad-plus-plus.org/downloads/
3. PGSharp.dat file from exporting your profile.

Don't have a computer?

This guide is not for you to try because you will be doing a lot work just to convert one route. Converting a 100 Pokestop route will take about 3 minutes on a computer. Doing the same process on an Android smartphone, tablet, or Chromebook will require you painstakingly repeat certain steps 100 times. The big advantage with a Windows computer is you get full featured application and command shortcuts.

Part 1: Make a GPX Route in PGSharp and favorite it.

1. Open the map.
2. Press on the Pokestop and Gym icons (bottom right corner).
3. Press on each stop and the + (plus) system to connect the Pokestops and Gyms together.
4. If you teleport, it will delete your route and you will have to start over. I recommend you constantly save your route by favorite it (star). To continue adding more stops to the route, you go to your "favorite routes" and load it. Then repeat steps 1 to 3.

Part 2: Make a backup of your Exported Profile

1. Open PGSharp's settings.
2. Press on "Export".
3. Rename "PGSharp.dat" to "PGSharp-MainBackup.dat"
4. If you have a lot of saved routes in your profile, deleting the routes you do not plan to convert will make it easier to do certain steps otherwise you would have to scroll through a very large paragraph of coordinate sets to highlight with your mouse. If you do this, export another one and name it "PGSharp-GPX.dat" and use this one to transfer to your computer.

Part 3: Extract Coordinates

[1] Create a blank text file by right-clicking anywhere on your desktop, go to "new" then "text document".
[1] Transfer the PGSharp.dat file to your Windows OS computer.
[2] Right click on PGSharp.dat file and open/edit with Notepad++.
[3] Use CTRL+F to open the find window. Type in the name of your saved route. It will highlight it for you.
[4] Click X to close the find window.
[5] Click before (in bold) ,"name":" then highlight to after [{"points": because you just need the coordinate sets that come before the route name.

[6] After you highlight the coordinates, you CTRL+C to copy and then CTRL+V to paste in the blank text file and save it by CTRL+S or by going to File > Save then close it.

[7] Right-click the "New Text Document" file to edit with Notepad++.
[8] In NotePad++, you will see your coordinate sets all in one line. You want to put each coordinate set onto its own line because:

• The coordinates you see are in [longitude,latitude,altitude]. The altitude number is not needed for a GPX Route.
• Depending on where you created the route, you may have multiple different altitude numbers. By putting each coordinate set onto its own line, it is very easy to see this part by scrolling down.

[9] Use CTRL+H to open "Replace" window. Make sure these are checked: Wrap around, Regular Expression, and matches new line.
Then, you add the altitude part from your coordinates to the Find what bot. This number will be different for you. What you see below, you must type it exactly like that. You may need to repeat this until you get all the coordinates on its own line.

[10] Click "Replace all" and it will look something like this. In my example, I only used 3 Pokestops so I have 3 lines. If I used 400 Pokestops, I will have 400 lines. You can see the number of lines below in the status bar " length : # lines: 3 ".

[11] Delete the " [ " in the first line.

• Do not include the " - " (minus symbol) because this will mess up your route and may telelport you to a different country.

[13] Click Replace all and it should now look like this. Some coordinates might be shorter or longer, but it won't matter as long as it looks something similar to what you see with " longitude,latitude ".

[14] Make sure you scroll through to check to each line to see if you missed something. Sometimes you might another altitude in one or multiple lines like the ",78" (number will be different for everyone).

You might find a closing bracket " ] " like this on the last line you must also delete it.

[15] Go to https://www.gpsvisualizer.com/convert_input?convert_format=gpx&force_type=r&units=us
[16] Go to " Force text data to be this type: " and change it from "route points" to "waypoints". This is the only option you change.

• Waypoints is for Fake GPS Joystick, Route Go & GPS Joystick, and PGSharp.
• As for iPogo's Android app, I don't know what they use, but it could be trackpoints or route points.

[17] In the box, " Or paste your data here:", you must add "latitude,longitude" to the first line then press enter on your keyboard.
[18] Go back to your Notepad++ with all your coordinates and do CTRL+A to highlight all. Then, do CTRL+C to copy.
[19] Go back to the website and do CTRL+V to paste it after "latitude,longitude", so it looks like

latitude,longitude -1.282117,103.859044 -1.281564,103.858542 -1.281376,103.858951 

[20] Click the "CONVERT" button and you will get something like this. You download the GPX file.

• I recommend you rename it to something more recognizable before transferring it back to your Android device.

The night air was thick with tension as I manned my post at the 24-hour gas station. Situated in a remote area of upstate New York, the station was a lonely beacon of light amid the darkness. As the clock struck midnight, the gusty wind rattled the windows, and the flickering neon lights cast eerie shadows around the dimly lit store. I tried to ignore the foreboding feeling that had settled in my chest, attributing it to the late hour and the desolation of my surroundings.
My thoughts were interrupted by the jingle of the bell above the door, signaling a customer's arrival. A tall, well-dressed man entered the store with an air of confidence, his smile warm and inviting. He strolled up to the counter, and I couldn't help but feel a little charmed by his presence.

As he paid for his purchases, I glanced out the window and noticed a woman sitting in the back seat of his car. She appeared to be asleep, her head resting against the window, and her face partially obscured by the shadows.
"Looks like your friend's out for the count," I remarked, trying to keep the conversation going.
He chuckled. "Oh, her? She's just exhausted. We've been driving for hours."
His explanation seemed reasonable, and I brushed off any lingering concerns as just my overactive imagination. The man continued to chat amiably, even flirting a little, which made me blush despite the bizarre circumstances. There was something undeniably magnetic about him.
As he turned to leave, I noticed something that made my heart skip a beat. Through the car window, the woman's face was now fully illuminated by the overhead lights, revealing a pallor that seemed unnatural, even for someone who was asleep. Her eyes were closed, but her expression was rigid, almost as if she were frozen in fear.
"Drive safe," I called out, unable to shake the sense of unease that had returned.
"Will do," he replied, still smiling. "You have a good night."
He left the store, and I watched him pump gas, my thoughts racing. I couldn't bring myself to leave the safety of the station and investigate, but the image of the woman's face haunted me. Was she truly just asleep, or was there something more sinister at play?
As he drove off into the night, I couldn't help but feel a lingering sense of dread. The charming man and his mysterious passenger would remain etched in my memory, a chilling reminder that appearances can be deceiving. And in the dead of night, at a lonely gas station, the line between friend and foe could blur into darkness.
My thoughts remained consumed by the strange encounter as I went about my duties, restocking shelves and tidying up the store. The uneasy feeling wouldn't leave me, like a dark cloud hanging overhead. To distract myself, I glanced at the old, silent TV mounted in the corner of the store, which I usually kept on for company during these lonely nights.
As I turned my attention to the TV, I caught sight of a breaking news report. A young woman's face appeared on the screen, her eyes wide and fearful. It was the same woman I had just seen in the man's car. The headline read, "MISSING: Police Searching for Woman Believed to be in Danger." My heart raced as I read the accompanying text, which stated that she was last seen with a man wanted for questioning in connection with her disappearance.
A chill ran down my spine as the screen flashed a photo of the suspect. It was the charming man who had been in my store just moments ago. The man who had flirted with me, his warm smile concealing a dark secret. I couldn't believe I had been so close to someone so dangerous.
In a panic, I immediately dialed 911, my hands shaking as I held the phone.
"911, what's your emergency?"
"I-I think the man you're looking for in connection with the missing woman was just here," I stammered, struggling to catch my breath. "He had her in his car, and he just left my gas station!"
"Sir, please stay calm. Can you give me a description of the man and his vehicle?"
I quickly provided the operator with every detail I could recall, from his appearance to the make and model of his car. The operator assured me that officers would be dispatched to the area immediately and advised me to stay inside and lock the doors until they arrived.
As I waited for the police, I couldn't shake the image of the man's smile, now tainted by the knowledge of the evil that lurked beneath the surface. The charming stranger had turned out to be a wolf in sheep's clothing, and I shuddered to think what might have happened had I not seen the news report.
When the police arrived, I told them everything I knew, my voice shaking as I recounted the horrifying ordeal. They informed me that a search was already underway and that they would do everything in their power to apprehend the man and ensure the woman's safety.
In the days and weeks that followed, the gas station took on a new, sinister quality for me. No longer a haven from the world outside, it had become a constant reminder of how easily evil could slip into our lives, hiding behind a mask of charm and warmth. I couldn't help but feel haunted by the events of that night, my sense of security shattered by the knowledge that monsters walked among us, their true faces hidden in plain sight.

Tired of my Fire stick constantly freezing. Had a Roku before and really liked it - but that was before I had a soundbar.
Fire powers on the TV and the Soundbar and adjusts the volume on the soundbar.
Soundbar is connected to the TV with an Optical connector (toslink).
Can the Roku remote adjust the soundbar's volume and power?
If not dealbreaker.

Id: Invaded

The Mizuhanome System is a highly advanced development that allows people to enter one of the most intriguing places in existence—the human mind. Through the use of so-called "cognition particles" left behind at a crime scene by the perpetrator, detectives from the specialized police squad Kura can manifest a criminal's unconscious mind as a bizarre stream of thoughts in a virtual world. Their task is to explore this psychological plane, called an "id well," to reveal the identity of the culprit.
Not just anyone can enter the id wells; the prerequisite is that you must have killed someone yourself. Such is the case for former detective Akihito Narihisago, who is known as "Sakaido" inside the id wells. Once a respected member of the police, tragedy struck, and he soon found himself on the other side of the law.
Nevertheless, Narihisago continues to assist Kura in confinement. While his prodigious detective skills still prove useful toward investigations, Narihisago discovers that not everything is as it seems, as behind the seemingly standalone series of murder cases lurks a much more sinister truth.

I have a group chat on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra), which I use to communicate with some friends. Randomly, as I use this group chat to chat, it'll start saying "___ Message(s) could not send to (groupchat name)", and no messages will send. Additionally, Ill start getting image symbols that indicate I can download something in each of the members personal, seperate chats with me, but when I try to download them it gives me the same message after some attempt. It will do this with my chats in the groupchat too. This spans across all group chats and I cannot message them for unmeasured amount of time. Id guess the average is 20 minutes, but never more than an hour. What's weird is that even though this spans across ALL my groupchats, my personal 1x1 chats do not get affected.
Ive tried: Restarting the app Restarting my phone Clearing cache Switching from MMS to SMS back to MMS Spam refreshing the messages Using different apps to hopefully break the buffer on my messages
I dont have the option to permanently erase the data on the app or phone, as I dont know how to back up my files (im very small brain) and that just seems like too much work for such a small problem. Ive tried online remedies but they dont seem to help. Any tips appreciated, ty!

I've recently started using Duolingo again, it's been a while since I've used it. However, it seems there's been yet another update that makes Duo less interesting, usable, useful, etc to me yet again :( Something that could easily be corrected with adequate options
So, I've noticed that in many exercises (on mobile and desktop, as I use both) that Duo seems to have removed the option on so many exercises to actually type out the answer? This is super disappointing to me, as I find it much more useful and intuitive to type out my answers rather than have to pick them out from a word bank. I have no idea why this isn't an option in settings? Surely some people will benefit more from a multiple choice solution, and some will benefit from actually having to type out the words? Not to mention that, at least on desktop, it's MUCH quicker to type out words rather than have to agonisingly select every single word from a stupid word bank :/ Plus it's less difficult... I don't want my language learning to feel like it's easy to just wing it. I actually tried a placement test with a language I didn't know and was able to get into unit 12 just by guessing, largely thanks to the "select words from a word bank" method of "teaching" :(
I'm curious to know what you find more useful? Do you feel it's more beneficial for you to select from a wordbank or have to type it out yourself? I hope Duo is choosing what is more beneficial for learning for the vast majority of their learners, so maybe this is something fundamentally helpful for others that just doesn't work for me personally
To me, it seriously feels as if this sort of thing is made for quicker rewards to get people to keep coming back to the app, rather than actual teaching. I could totally be wrong though, as some people may find this to actually be useful... I just... Don't... Personally. It feels like the baby friendly version of learning a language.
I'm also wondering (if this is okay to ask for in the duo subreddit) for other language apps or resources that allow you to type instead of have to tap from a word bank? I am interested in learning loads of languages, my ultimate goal is to be a polyglot, so I'm totally open to trying whatever apps other people find beneficial! Also totally open to hearing any criticisms on apps such as duolingo (think it might be useful to note that I sure as shit don't expect an app like duo to get me to being fluent.... even moreso now I apparently can't type out my answers)

The pre-built arrived Friday and I installed the HDD and RAM and hooked up the monitor and played with it for a couple of days installing Maya, Unreal, and a few games and other apps and just seeing how it performed.
From this I discovered it was running warm (80+ c) when gaming with high graphics settings (easy enough to adjust down). I also learned that the DP cable wasn't carrying a signal (HDMI worked fine) and that the RAM was only running at a frequency of 2133 MHz.
So, foolishly, I tried to mess with the RAM settings in the BIOS and ended up with a black screen. After confirming that I needed to reset the CMOS I had trouble finding motherboard schematics (or even figuring out exactly what motherboard was in the machine) so I called MSI and when the rep. told me that the battery I needed to unseat was under the Graphics Card (so I would need to unseat that to get to the battery) I decided to just take it to Micro Center. The guy there was able to reset the CMOS and adjust my RAM settings in the BIOS so the RAM runs at 3200 MHz (<3 to that Micro Center employee). I haven't tested much with it since then, but the signal is being carried by the DP cable now (not exactly sure how that happened) and in general so far I've been pretty happy with the machine.

About me (as is pertinent):
I'm studying game design and through the program I'm in I have access to Autodesk Maya and Adobe Substance Painter (and various other applications).
​
I mention it because my goal is for this PC to be able to handle having Maya and the Unreal Editor open at the same time; I want to be able to adjust model geometry and see the effect it will have on the scene in real time (or at least without the delay of application opening and closing times, so the primary source of delay is just how quickly I can correctly re-import the models and make any necessary adjustments within the scene) and also to support the creation of larger or more complex scenes/models, though working with large amounts of geometry may ultimately necessitate exclusive use of either Maya or Unreal.

I have been using this laptop and it mostly handled Maya and Unreal alright, only running out the RAM and crashing when I was calling upon it to do legitimately hard work, but I kinda need a machine to actually do that work rather than crashing so I got this new desktop.

So, what do you think? Will it serve my purpose? Anything I should consider changing?

I am currently working on some free source PacMan code (not a student, just want to begin learning to code games for professional dev), and having an issue with resizing the screen. I've only changed 2 variables, width and height, and the menu and game move over (and my ghosts all continue on the blank part of the screen) but I can't move the maze or get pacman to come over on the screen.

What am I missing? I just want to be able to set the screen to a defined level to have it play fullscreen on a TV.

Hi all,
I have an echo show 10 in the kitchen as well as firetv 4k stick connected to an LG tv. I used to be able to speak to the echo show and ask it to play BBC news for example. It would turn on the TV and the associated soundbar via CEC and switch to BBC news channel on iplayer. Now, I have to say turn on firetv, then say "play bbc news on iplayer on firetv". I have restarted all teh devices, checked they are linked in the alexa app and made sure cec is on. any ideas how to restore previous functionality.
