I sat for an exam that decides university entrances. the degree I'm trying for needs higher results. I have a rough idea of how my marks are and it's pretty up there for two subjects, but pretty low for one. so there's the possibility of either one of the 2 following choices from happening. one where I am not able to get in to a local university in my country, and go abroad. the other being getting in to a local university if my results are sufficient. but going to the abroad university is my dream. it gives much better opportunities, and I could even finish my studies soon and come back home as well. compared to the local uni where sometimes the periods would extend. my parents don't really want to send me abroad, as they don't want me to be so far away from them.but they agreed to send if I wasn't able to qualify to a local uni. so I can't really force them to send me. I've been manifesting to attend the uni of my dreams. I'm currently trying the 555 method and do visualizations as well. I'm pretty new to LOA. so I would also like some advice or help on how to do this. and if anyone else has gone through something like this and succeeded? thank you so much in advance : )

We have all seen post after post on the rising property taxes with folks mentioning 20% increases and $1,000+ increases. I’m also feeling that sticker-shock and didn’t enjoy getting that piece of mail this year. There has been a lot of discussion about the school budget, and some data going around about our school taxes per home and per person, the increases relative to growth, the salary of the superintendent, etc. It’s all good and relevant information but none of these posts have shared the other side of the story…which is what we are buying with our taxes. We have high (and rising) property taxes, but we need to acknowledge what we are getting from those taxes. What we are getting in exchange for our high school taxes per person is one of the best school districts in the state. Now, you may not care about that, and that’s fine, but it’s disingenuous to talk only about the inputs and not the results. To be very clear, I’m not telling anyone how they should prioritize their tax dollars as it relates to education, I’m just adding much needed context that I feel is too often ignored - our exceptional schools we have in this county,
Here is an image from an email that is going around on Next Door and created quite a bit of chatter. The image compares the school taxes in Forsyth to some of the surrounding counties. Assuming this data is accurate, it’s shocking to look at. I’m not sure the logic behind the counties selected (no Dawson or Gwinnet), my guess is maybe some cherry-picking for the starkest comparisons, but that’s whatever…I used these same counties in the data that I pulled together so it's apples-to-apples.

If you tell me Person A spent $60,000 on a car and Person B spent $20,000, I don’t have enough information to make any assumptions about the value of their spend. But once I know that Person A bought a Mercedes and Person B bought a Kia Forte, I now have a better picture of the spend and what they received in return. The added context, i.e. what we are getting in return, is information we need to close the decision loop on our budget.
It’s probably true, Forsyth residents pay about double ($859 per the image going around) what Douglas residents pay ($418). But as compared to Douglas, Forsyth has double the avg rank test scores (.881 to .474), more than double college readiness (51.3 to 16.6), +54% on reading proficiency (79 to 51), more than double math proficiency (71 to 33), and +22% on CCRPI (92.7 to 75.9). So, essentially, we have double the school taxes but twice as good of a school system. Seems like a fair return on investment.
In addition to the school tax, here are five charts I created to compare the Forsyth County school system to other districts. This is what we are getting in return for our higher than desired school taxes. These charts compare overall testing scores, reading and math proficiency, college readiness, another college and career readiness ranking, and efficiency of budget. Since my expertise and career are not in education, I can’t tell you which metrics are the best measure of a districts education system, but hopefully these stats cover a lot of the bases. I created these charts only for the six counties from the original image on tax dollars being sent around. The counties are Forsyth, Douglas, Henry, Hall, Paulding, and Cherokee. These are the most obvious and low-hanging fruit stats I could easily obtain through minimal searching.

One thing is clear, none of the surrounding counties are providing results even close to what we are getting in Forsyth County. No matter the metric, Forsyth is head-and-shoulders above the other counties in this study. And even where we can infer additional information about our standing statewide from these charts, Forsyth is near the top of the entire state with a rank of 8th out of 198 districts in Average Rank Score, and in the 99th percentile for CCRPI (College and Career Readiness Score).
This comes down to priorities and each person’s financial situation. Maybe you don’t prioritize education highly and you want to buy the Kia Forte, I’m not trying to change your priorities. Maybe you have no kids, and you want to buy the 2004 Corolla with hand crank windows of education, and that’s your choice…just prepare for your future neighbors and community members around you to bear the fruits of poor education. Maybe you just can’t afford the increase and suddenly having to move or make difficult financial choices becomes a much bigger personal issue than a great school system, that's totally fair. So, none of this is to tell you what your priorities should be. I’m also not smart enough to know exactly where our tax dollars should go in terms of education, how much of the budget is just bloated government waste, and I don’t know at what point we are faced with diminishing returns. I just want to share information about the other 50% of the equation, which is too often ignored and that is the amazing school system we all enjoy and benefit from.
These results didn’t happen by luck, they happened because we have administration mostly making good choices, we have amazing teachers, support staff, infrastructure, tools and yes…the funds to support it. Heck, we even have objectively the number one custodian in the entire country in Kelly Mill’s Rich Toomey who won Custodian of the Year for the U.S. this year. I don’t want to make this about dismissing anyone’s concern regarding high taxes, I’m personally conflicted about my own property tax bill increase. I only want to remind everyone that we should not take for granted what we have, why we have it, and the direction it can go if we take our eye off the ball. You get what you pay for, and generally speaking in Forsyth County we are buying the Mercedes of education, while many counties around us are buying a Kia Forte.

(Using a throwaway bc I don’t want this connected to my main just in case, but I’m a longtime subber here.) Long wall of text incoming — TL;DR: I was blindsided by a friend “breaking up” with me for being too “suffocating” and need advice on how to move forward and be a better friend to the friends I still have.
I met my friend, A, when I moved to my current city in a new country. We hit it off immediately, and my husband and I seemed to become good friends with her husband and her. We had a lot of similar interests, and for a while were all going to the gym and doing other stuff together. A introduced me to her friend group, and they’re still the friends I have now, ~9 months after arriving here. I feel very fortunate to have met her.
Thinking back, I guess the first cracks in our relationship started to appear around 4 months ago. A has a car while I don’t, and where we live, it’s not necessary but definitely helpful for getting to a lot of places, including our gym. A and I also live right down the street from each other, so if we’re both going somewhere, it’s super easy for us to ride together. Our gym bud, D, stopped riding to the gym with us, and A texted me to say she didn’t want to carpool with my husband and I anymore so she could go straight to the gym from work. I was a bit upset, bc we have no other reasonable way to get there and that gym was 1/4 of the price or less of every gym we could walk to, but I said I understood.
When we first met, she told me she was a soccer player, and was part of a local club. I’d never played soccer but I really love it, so I asked her if there was a spot open on the team. Eventually, a spot opened up; however, I once again ran into the issue of transportation. It’s doable to walk, but quite far, and driving takes no time at all. She wasn’t playing for a while due to an injury, but just today told me she’s coming back full time. I was super excited, and asked her first how the pain was and all. Then, I asked if I could ride with her to and from practice again. It’d been quite a hurdle for me, so I was excited for that as well.
Here’s where shit hits the fan. A said she could take me home, but didn’t want to pick me up. I said okay but asked why, wondering if she had something else going on before practice. Honestly, I didn’t phrase it the nicest way, but it wasn’t completely rude. I was still a bit hurt from the gym situation, since I haven’t been able to get back to a gym due to financial and location constraints since she stopped taking me, and that admittedly surfaced a bit in my reply. She eventually responded with a wall of text saying she thinks I’m a “nice girl”, but that she’s feeling suffocated by our relationship and needs space. She said she was trying to drop hints, but I never picked up on them. (She’s also always presented and described herself as a blunt person too, and been blunt with me before when I’ve upset her, so I definitely didn’t pick up on them.) She named all the way back to me taking interest in the things she does when we first met, like playing soccer and joining groups to study the local language and discuss books, and called me out for venting too much about my problems, which a) I haven’t done in months since we have barely spoken since we stopped going to the gym together and b) I always asked if it was okay for me to vent and did my best only to vent at times she was also venting.
I can see where she’s coming from at certain points, but at other points it feels very unfair for me to be expected to have picked up on those things. I really do feel hurt that she has told and shown me that she’s a person who will address problems upfront instead of dropping hints, and now suddenly I’m supposed to pick up hints I didn’t know were there. Now, I’m paranoid that my other friends think similarly negatively of me, and also don’t want me around. The foreigner community in my city is very close-knit, and if someone hurts one of the people in our group, they get essentially excommunicated. I’m so worried this will happen to me and my husband too. We finally found a good place and finally made some friends for the first time in our lives and I feel like it’s all going to come crashing down around us because I can’t manage to be a good friend.
Obviously this is only my side of the story. I tried to be as objective as possible, but I can’t know how A feels. I just want some advice. Am I a bad friend? What do I do now? I guess this relationship has kinda been ruined — I have a GREAT track history of that — but how do I preserve my other friendships? I’m so scared to lose everyone. Please help me.

To the point
Helvetic village. Switzerland: a small state with a big identity. But there is a fine line between state sovereignty and provincial isolationism.
Parallels. Switzerland and the EU are not as different as they are often portrayed - neither structurally nor in terms of their internal complexity.
EU scepticism. Anti-EU attitudes have a long tradition in Switzerland, despite close economic ties and acceptance of large parts of the EU regulatory framework.
Risk. In a world in geopolitical upheaval, Switzerland is in danger of losing an opportunity with its vague positioning on the EU.
The similarities are striking: both Switzerland and the European Union did not come into being by chance, but as a result of political will - in each case in opposition to the prevailing mainstream at the time. Here Switzerland, the neutral, federalist, prosperous small state in the heart of Europe. On the other hand, there is the European Union, the continental integration experiment based on peace, prosperity and values.
On the one hand, 26 cantons, on the other 27 states, all equally independent and stubborn political entities. They are held together by a sophisticated structure of common rules and institutions. Each canton, each member state is power-conscious, economically successful, in competition with others, internationally networked.
All special cases with their own unmistakable history and tradition. And all 53 eye with suspicion what comes from the centre, once from Bern, once from Brussels. Neither are real capitals, but they are centres of impulse and control in the finely tuned balance of power and the redistribution of solidarity-based benefits. Nine million inhabitants here, about 50 times as many there. Each with a common currency, but a colourful mix of languages and religions. Four official languages in Switzerland, 24 in the EU. And twice a motto in Latin: "Unus pro omnibus, omnes pro uno" (one for all, all for one) and "In varietate concordia" (united in diversity). Which belongs to which?
Difficult relationship
Despite all the similarities, Switzerland and the EU find it difficult to build a lasting constructive relationship with each other. This has a lot to do with their respective self-images, but also with the interests of influential individual actors and groups. Yet there is no alternative to close economic networking for both: half of all Swiss exports go to the EU's internal market. Goods and services worth almost one billion francs are exchanged every day. Almost 1.5 million EU citizens work in Switzerland at attractive wages; conversely, almost half a million Swiss citizens are on the EU labour market.
The EU has so far shown a lot of understanding for its difficult neighbour. More than 120 individual bilateral treaties regulate relations between Switzerland and the EU, especially access to the internal market. However, passive membership of third parties in the internal market, the centrepiece of European unification, was never a future model from Brussels' point of view.
Thus, in the 1990s, the European Economic Area (EEA) was created for those Europeans who did not want to join the Community in the foreseeable future. It offered access to the internal market with a common institutional component for settling disputes. Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland joined, the Swiss refused in 1992. Then, as now, the pronounced anti-EU attitude had a name and a face: Christoph Blocher, billionaire, industrialist, media owner, short-term Federal Councillor.
New attempt at a relationship
After the failure of Switzerland's EEA accession, it gradually became clear to both partners how incompatible their ideas for the common future were. 24 years after the application, Switzerland also formally withdrew its membership application in 2016. Switzerland would probably never become an EU member. Or only when it was doing badly economically, according to Christoph Blocher.
In the EU, too, enthusiasm for Switzerland as an extra-complicated partner declined in proportion to the internal pressure from right-wing Eurosceptic parties in its own ranks. Everyone would like to have a tailor-made membership, why should only the Swiss get one?
From then on, the "internal market without nothing" was no longer part of the EU's offer. Instead of further individual treaties, a kind of "umbrella treaty" was needed. At the head of the Commission, a convinced representative of the small states, the Luxembourger Jean-Claude Juncker, took up the mantle. He knew the interests and deep-seated fears of the successful small states better than anyone else.
But this attempt was also a failure. At the end of May 2021, the Swiss government declared the negotiations over. Just like that. Without involving parliament or the people. Remarkable in the model country of direct democracy. In 1992, the EEA issue had been put to the vote of the people and the cantons. Thirty years later, apparently no one was prepared to go to the polls for an agreement that was actually tailor-made, complete with dynamic adoption of law, emergency brake and arbitration court. This would have made Switzerland the only country in the world to adopt EU legislation à la carte.
Where there is (no) will, there is (no) way
Foreign policy is a direct function of domestic policy. The Swiss government got caught up in tactics. The Federal Council made no attempt to explain to its citizens the benefits of a longer-term stabilisation agreement with the EU. No convincing personality in the government unreservedly supported the finalised agreement. Many groups found reasons not to like the agreement. The trade unions in particular successfully climbed the barricades on the issue of wage protection. Their alliance with the right-wing nationalist SVP and its fetishism for sovereignty prevented a majority for the framework agreement.
In addition, there was a lack of willingness to reform in certain business circles and a general unwillingness to let the EU show its cards. In the end, a critical mass of positive arguments was lacking. The status quo seemed preferable to the manageable risk of a pragmatic consolidation.
Blocher's narrative of the indomitable Helvetic village had taken possession of public opinion. "We find ourselves back on field 1 after thirty years of European policy muck," says Peter Ziegler, former editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Der Bund" and remorseful EEA opponent, in view of the fruitless wear and tear on diplomatic and political energies.
What is striking is that the now almost universal practice of "autonomous implementation" - i.e. the direct adoption of EU law - does not seem to bother anyone. Why does sovereignty-conscious Switzerland not want to sit at the table in Brussels? Co-decide? Co-responsible? Has the "special case of Switzerland" even become strategically incapable in the end? In a networked world, sovereignty has long since ceased to be understood as medieval autarky. Especially for small states, whose security is ultimately guaranteed from the outside, it is a matter of optimising possibilities of influence. Fortress in the Alps
As a neutral country, Switzerland must be able to defend itself. The Confederation is therefore well equipped, and defence is considered a civic duty in society.
Army people
One often hears: Switzerland does not have an army, it is an army. The army is largely recruited from militia soldiers. All male citizens must enlist at the age of 18. As long as they are physically and mentally fit and are not doing civilian service, recruits regularly take part in exercises after initial training. As a result, Switzerland has around 150,000 active and trained soldiers. Those who do not perform military service must pay three per cent of their annual income as military substitute tax.
High striking power
In a comparison of military capabilities, Switzerland ranks 44th worldwide (Global Firepower Index). But all the countries listed higher - with the exception of Norway - have a larger population than the Swiss; Austria, which is the same size, only comes in 84th in the same ranking. No wonder, Switzerland invests around five billion francs a year in armament. In addition to a well-developed network of defence installations, the army has 148 aircraft, including the F-35, the most modern fighter jets in the world. Despite its many mountains, Switzerland has 380 tanks.
Weapon in the wardrobe
Many a tourist is amazed to see armed citizens in public. Soldiers take their service weapon, the assault rifle 90, home with them. About 100 weapons are lost every year. But they are often found again, as an army spokesman affirmed, for example by the next tenant.
What does Switzerland want?
The Swiss model of "one foot in, one foot out" seems comfortable. As if there really is "the nickel and the dime" (a Helvetic metaphor for a barter deal in which one gets everything and the other nothing) in the long run. It is not for nothing that a Bertelsmann study from 2019 attests that Switzerland benefits the most from the EU's internal market. But the current state of affairs is no good as a model for the future. From the EU's point of view, there will be no new market access agreements without agreement on the institutional dimension.
The erosion of the bilateral treaties will only become noticeable creepingly for the time being - for example, when less or no investment is made in research projects or university start-ups and spin-offs; when energy security in the supply of electricity becomes fragile and help is needed; when locations of the medtech industry are relocated to the EU. But the train keeps moving, and those who do not act in time will be left sitting at the station.
In 2023, elections will be held in Switzerland. Normally, this is not a good time to rely on reason and an overarching perspective. But there is no holiday from history. The brutal Russian attack on neighbour Ukraine is turning old certainties upside down. European security policy is reshaping itself. The migration wave is rolling again. The EU needs every ounce of political energy for itself. Brexit, the Ukraine invasion and increasing geopolitical tensions are causing more unity in the EU and less willingness for special arrangements.
What does Switzerland actually want? Who immediately knows the Swiss line, not only in European policy? In times of forming geopolitical blocs, this lack of legibility can quickly become a serious disadvantage. Even among well-meaning neighbours, perplexity, even resentment, is spreading. Bern bought US fighter planes, not German or French ones. Paris and Berlin are pawing at them. Solidarity with Ukraine is not enough to deliver ammunition produced in Switzerland to Germany. Is Switzerland losing reliability in its dealings with partners?
Putting our money where our mouth is
While Bern dreams of a new framework agreement (Bilaterals III) without even being able to agree internally on a negotiating mandate, the President of the EU Commission leaves the Swiss President out in the cold in Davos in January 2023. No time for a meeting - indignation in the Swiss media. A snub? Or just a thoughtful hint that the indecisive neighbour is slipping in the ranking of EU priorities?
It is time to put our money where our mouth is. The Swiss cross and the European stars do not stand for irreconcilable opposites. Nothing in Switzerland's political genetics makes it an enemy of Europe. And conversely, no neighbour wants to bully Switzerland. Perhaps after thirty years of pause for reflection, Switzerland could throw some mirages overboard and show the world what it really is: European through and through, always has been.
Conclusion:
The relationship between Switzerland and the European Union has always been complicated. Admittedly, there are many similarities; both Switzerland and the EU, for example, are characterised by complex institutions that balance a multitude of individual interests. Nevertheless, both sides find it difficult to permanently regulate their relationship. Bern broke off negotiations on a framework treaty with the EU in 2021 without consulting the people. For pragmatic reasons, Switzerland has to adopt large parts of the EU regulations, but is reluctant to have a say in Brussels. Meanwhile, the EU's motivation to deal with the small state is sinking. In a world where geopolitical blocs are forming, a vague Swiss position could be increasingly disadvantageous.

We finally found a good place and finally made some friends for the first time in our lives and I feel like it’s all going to come crashing down around us because I can’t manage to be a good friend.
Obviously this is only my side of the story. I tried to be as objective as possible, but I can’t know how A feels. I just want some advice. Am I a bad friend? What do I do now? I guess this relationship has kinda been ruined — I have a GREAT track history of that — but how do I preserve my other friendships? I’m so scared to lose everyone. Please help me.

Hey everyone, I’ve been reading up on all of the information that has been on these reddits and I have learned so much but I still wanted to ask some questions. My best friend is bipolar, he had his first episode 2 years ago (apologies if I’m saying it wrong). One of our closest friends had just passed and that seemingly triggered it. Has that been the cause for anybody else’s SO?
Growing up he was always a bit emotional but nothing that was alarming. Anyways, he had some rough times but in the last year he was really getting better and we were all seeing improvements until a month ago. Ever since then he has not been himself and has been acting out as well. We FaceTime every day (we don’t live in the same country) and I worry a lot because I feel like he is losing his intelligence by the day and it’s getting worse. He always repeats himself, he can’t listen for longer than 30 seconds and always has to talk. I know for sure he’s still in there and we don’t want to lose him completely.
He was off his meds for the last couple of months but now he just started taking them again 2 weeks ago. Yesterday on our call while he was taking his medicine I asked him what medicine they had prescribed him. I asked him this because we are from a third-world country where the knowledge on bipolar disorder is not as developed as the rest. Plus in our culture having a mental illness is not ‘understandable’ , it is very taboo parents usually like to keep it under wraps and not take any advice from anyone except the doctors but I don’t know if the doctors they are getting are qualified enough. He told me that he takes a pill called “lexotan”. He takes 4 at a time every night after dinner. When we hung up I looked it up and the first thing I saw was that you are supposed to take it an hour BEFORE dinner. It is also more of a medication for anxiety and while I know he has some kind of anxiety, that is not what he suffers from the most I am sure of that. It also makes him sleep immediately after he takes it. During the day when I’m on the phone with him he looks tired all the time, his eyes are always low, his mouth is so dry and he often times slurs his words. I know these might be the side effects but I am just very skeptical about all of this, especially because I fear his doctors might not be qualified enough. I also overheard a conversation with his therapist and she just kept on telling him to take his medication and everything will be fine.
Has anyone’s SO also been on “lexotan” if so, how has it worked out? My apologies if this is a bit all over the place but I just want to be informed as much as possible.
I’m going back home in a few weeks and will be seeing him again after a year. Any advice would be much appreciated!

I want to preface this by saying that while got a lot of good stuff going for me, I'm not doing this to brag or anything, I've legitimately hit a mental slump recently and I don't really know what to do to get out of it. Edited for paragraph spacing.

Currently I am here on a government scholarship to get my undergraduate degree at a Japanese university. I had previously come here as a missionary due to familial pressure and at the end of it I came home ready to leave but also cut off from a lot of opportunities for independence because of COVID, toxic family environment, and lack of "adulting" experience in my home country (USA). I didn't see a future for myself there because of said lack of life experience and my parents being unable and unwilling to help me as well. (Large family + High Income = Not much financial assistance being available for me) Taking on debt seemed scary and having to suddenly put an insane amount of work inside and outside of school to someday make my own future also seemed depressing and unfair. I admit that I could have swallowed my pride and put myself through community college or something but I really wasn't doing very good mentally and I needed to get out of my house and on my own so I thought the scholarship would be good.

I applied for the government scholarship cause a full ride obviously seemed like a great deal and there also were legitimately great parts of living here. I loved the multicultural interaction I got to participate in during the missionary experience and I thought I could somehow find a way to make a career related to that. Without really going into how absurd the first "preparatory school" year of the scholarship was, the short of it is I ended up at a pretty "high rank" university (by Japanese standards) outside of Tokyo studying for a Humanities major. I also found an romantic partner and we have been in a semi-long distance relationship. So materially speaking I don't have much to complain about but mentally speaking it’s become rough and I've started to have moments of regret about being here and concern about how it’s all going to turn out.

University here is just mind numbing, there is the occasional engaging class, but many of them are just sitting for hours listening to your professor ramble about stuff that can be read off the PowerPoint. A lot of classes can be passed by just showing up, sleeping through your lectures, and just turning something for whatever assignment comes up. Actual meaningful discussion is rare, and I have gotten to a point where I am starting to experience anxiety having to sit through these pointless lectures and I have been skipping a lot of them when I can. I did a bit of university online back in the US and you could say it was similar, but I felt like I could make more of a social connection with my teachers and have way more open and meaningful conversations with my classmates. As for my classmates, they are nice people, but they are all the kind of kids that studied hard to get here and have no experience or worldview outside of that. It's hard to describe but it feels suffocating and I find that I spend a lot more time with other international students or calling/visiting my girlfriend than I do with the Japanese students.

A combination of all of this has really taken a toll on my motivation and hope for the future. I am sure I can graduate from university somehow but the idea of working here and possibly contributing to society went from being an interesting adventure to something I am starting to be afraid of. The language is not an issue as I have N1 and I converse at school/work/internships without much issue. With the work culture here and the way you sometimes see foreigners get treated in the news I am worried that there is not going to be a light at the end of the tunnel for me in the form of a decent job and a fulfilling life. They have recently started to worry about the coming labor shortage and have been paying lip service to wanting to be welcome to foreign people and ideas but when I look around me, I just see a place that is ambivalent or sometimes hostile to my existence. It also probably sounds entitled of me, but it just feels depressing to think that there's a chance I won’t be able to achieve the same level of wealth/success as my parents and that I'll be stuck in this country that is doing nothing to stop it's slow spiral of death.

Well, I'm upgrading my Classic SD to a Rambler due to the utility of both the Phillips 0/1 and the bottle opener as my main EDC SAK.
And to save on shipping, I plan to get a middle size SAK too. Now, I already have a SwissTool Spirit X that serves as my home toolbox, but it is not EDCable due to the locking blade, and I'm looking for something in the middle of that and the Rambler for when I know I'll need more tools. I am an engineer and even though most of my work is at a design office I do like to get my hands dirty from time to time.
Now, I used to have a Climber some time ago before I gave it to my father as a gift when I moved countries, its toolset did fulfil most of my usecases most of the time! But I think I can do better now. In relation with the Climber: -Explorer, I like it a lot! It has the extra tools and it is kind of what comes to my mind when I think SAK. But I don't know how much overlap it'd have with the one already included on the can opener, specially as most of the time I find myself dealing with the smaller screws the Rambler is designed for. And the thickness may be a problem, I don't want something too thick that I'll leave at home with my Spirit. -Pioneer, I like how premium it looks and feels, and how thin it is! The extra toughness is very welcome too! And I feel it compliments the Rambler better, with less overlap and more purpose. The toolset is very similar to the Climber I used to have but... It is missing the corkscrew and honestly that's a tool I do find quite useful, not only because I do love wine but also because of the glasses screwdriver accessory thing!
Or should I just get another Climber? Tried and tested! The Midnite Manager instead of the Rambler looks tempting too if I'm going for a midsize model with Cellidor scales, but with the small knife being the one I would for sure have always with me, I d like to have tweezers!

Hello, Koreans and foreigners like me My name is Lenny, a German woman who is living in Korea with my only friend, Noori, a Jindo dog.
I still can't believe that my life started in Germany went through China and now I live in Korea, the most beautiful and respected country in the world.
Born in Germany, I was an ordinary girl born to my parents with an ordinary personality and values. But what my parents were doing was so unique.
My parents used to run a pet salon in Germany that specializes in grooming and caring for big dogs. My parents, who loved all the animals on Earth, especially dogs, were very fond of them, so the pet salon they were doing was a vocation.
Especially at the beginning of the world's largest dog competition held in Germany every year, my parents loved dogs so much that they were officially invited to do volunteer work to manage the appearance and cleanliness of all dogs participating in the competition.
But contrary to my dog-loving parents, I was a girl who freaked out and ran away when I saw a tiny dog on the street. Of course, there was no trauma to the dog or anything that I was bitten by a dog myself, but for some reason, I sweated so much when I saw the little teeth in their mouths, no matter how cute the dog was.
My parents were frustrated that they couldn't understand me, and I also helped them with their pet salon very often, and I tried to fix these fears little by little each time, but they couldn't fix it at all.
My parents wanted me to inherit the pet salon, but I had many dreams of becoming a lawyer since I was young.
The movie about a lawyer I saw on TV one day looked so cool to me at the time, and it looked so cool to me that I could legally protect a person and devote myself to him, regardless of the concept of money.
However, to become a lawyer in Germany, you had to pass numerous elite course exams. When my friends were just out shopping and hanging out, I was busy taking exam books and school exams that stuck to my school and home desks, despite my young age, with the idea of becoming a lawyer.
Meanwhile, I made a Korean friend at the international school where I attended. I didn't have many friends because I used to study quietly, but one day, a Korean boy who introduced himself as Sang-hee talked to me first.
Sang-hee, who was born in Korea but stayed in Germany for a while because of her parents' work, happened to be a special friend who dreamed of becoming a lawyer, just like me. And my motivation to dream of becoming a lawyer was very much the same as mine.

I never really made a post like this before so I don't even know what to write.
I guess I'll start with I fucked up. I been fucking up. And I will always continue to fuck up.
I (M27) really love my gf (F24). But it took me too long to realize that.
We are in a long distance relationship for the last 2 or so years, although we met much earlier.
I always really liked her, but it wasn't until she almost left me did I fucken realize.
We met online and met for the first time last year. It was an amazing time. We both traveled out of the country alone for the first time and met in the middle. (of the world) (kinda)
But soon after I started screwing around like always. And I met this girl of some app. I only ever spoke to this new girl a few times and we tried to have sex once, but didn't actually.
Soon after I stopped this shit and cleaned up my phone and act. I was gonna do better.
But then on our last trip, which was earlier this year, she found some texts and chat and found the truth about what I did.
She forgave me then, at least she tried her best. Soon after the trip was over she became a little different. More distant.
Soon we were okay again but now I was out of a job and smoking weed or nicotine here and there.
Mind you the reason I lost the job was cause I choose to go with her on the trip over back home and doing my WFH job.
I had already cancelled plans before and didn't want to hurt her in any way.
So once I'm back she wants me to get my act straight. She gave me 1 month to fix everything up.
Get a job, loose the weed and nic.
And I did that. I found a cash job while I finish my study and I gave up all the shit I did.
Idk what happened to me after that day she almost left.
Now I can't sleep unless I talk to her, I spend hours waiting for her. She's all I think about and all I love.
But a while ago I was diagnosed with ADHD, anxiety, depression and the works. So I started my meds but they made me so very emotional.
So much that I basically had a panic attack and was taken to the ER. (I am in UK so it's free)
After I got out I made vids and send them to her, until she came back home. And she called and we talked and I was over the moon.
I expressed everything to her properly. For the first time I could cry and be me.
But the nect day she calls me out on being fake and a liar. And I do not blame her one bit.
I lied to her a lot. And I do dumb shit a lot. I know. I regret it. I am already working on it.
The next day we fought and she went out and I got another panic attack. This time I took vids and pics to show her.
Again things were fine. Until a few days ago when I said I'd do something cute and special for her, but due to time difference and me working plus study and meds. I just came home and fell asleep.
I talked to her a few days ago and she said she doesn't love me anymore. She doesn't get excited anymore.
Never have I ever been hurt by those words. But they carve right through you.
She's been a lot more mean to me last few weeks. But as I understand. And as she admitted. She can't seem to leave. She loves me a lot, or at least used to.
So she wnats me to leave and yesterday I did that. I said bye and hanged up.
Idk what I will do next. The thing is I never imagined life without her. Or ever thought she'd ever not be here..
I understand this all could have been so very differently had I not always screwed shit up.
And when I started to do right. I think I over did it. From sending her letters daily, long sweet vn, vids for every hour of the day.
Just last week I told her I wanted to do something for her and she was all happy woth me. But then she came back later and was all mad and that you're useless etc.
I bought a quill and ink to write her a hand written note. For when I meet her.
She just made fun of it and me. And it's not the first time.
I know she doesn't mean it, this girl loved me more than I deserved.
She left her fam to live alone and work in another country, just so we'd have enough money and chnace to meet each other until she is able to get her study visa and be here with me.
She used to listen to me so carefully while I used my phone during calls. Now it's the other way around.
She'd stay up late for me and talk to me no matter the mood. While I ignored and was taking her for granted. Now she's doing the same to me.
It's so funny and sad. I don't hate her for it.
But I think it's time. I want to be free and I want her to live as well.
I know you probably won't ever see this and I don't ever want you to. I just wish I'd changed earlier.
I'm sorry for everything and the mistakes. I'm sorry for the lying and cheating. I'm sorry that I took you for granted.
I'm probably going to simply distance her away as far as I can and make sure she can't ever contact me or my family.
I just need some help writing a proper goodbye note to my family and to her.
I just want to leave this place. I'm ready to be free. I'm finally ready for peace.

We've been living together for 4 years. It was once a beautiful relationship. In the last 8 months, it deteriorated, hard. He avoided, ran away to the pub, gave me silent-treatment, put career over dates, and overall just frolicked away when I needed a simple hug. I don't want to paint it like it was an entirely bad picture: He was also supportive of me, kind, and patient.
It has been very painful. But the sum of it is, we've ended the lease and are moving out in 2 weeks. He's going one way, I'm going the other. Neither of us have a solid plan. It's all happening on a whim, and both of us appear to be grieving the loss of our home and relationship. It seems like he loves me. He says that he still does, and that he hopes there will be a future for us together romantically again.
But I'm having a hard time seeing it from his perspective. He is going on a work road-trip in the opposite part of the country for 2 months. Then, he's going to come back for a couple weeks, and maybe see me for a couple days. After that short visit, he's off again for another 4 to 5 months. He said, by the end of all of his traveling, he may come back to this city and rent a room. He would like us to reassess being in a relationship at that time. For all the time in-between, he wants to be my "good friend", and "stay in touch", and even see me after 2 months. I am not handling this well and I feel physically ill thinking about it. He made that plan of action entirely without my input. I would be okay with this if we could still be together as a couple, but just taking a long-distance break. But he doesn't even want to go as far as to say we are a couple. He wants to be my "good friend"... And, according to him, hopefully my partner again in the future.
I'm not sure what to make of this. It doesn't sound practical to me. It doesn't sound very secure. It sounds like he's going to call all the shots, and if I want to be with him, then I guess I just have to be available and here for him to see on his own accord. There seems to be no definite security in it for me. It's like my worst nightmare. I fear he's going to avoid responding to my texts or calls frequently, and keep me stuck in a cycle which is terrifying for me and painful. I'm also not sure why we can't just say we are a couple having a break. Instead, it has to be "good friends"...
But why is this my worst nightmare? Doesn't this sort of thing work for some couples out there? Why am I so rigid to this idea? Maybe I'm being too close-minded about how this is all going to work? I wonder, is it possible to actually have an arrangement like this work out favorably for both of us?
I know there's some inner child healing I need to do. And he needs to heal his avoidance, but I'm not really sure how avoiding me is going to heal his avoidance. Can anyone speak on this?

Sorry. To add more context, he said that he would love to see me "happy" and "vibrant again" when he does come to see me. Apparently, this will determined whether or not he wants to be together romantically. I am just having a hard time digesting that one, because the only reason I have felt down is due to his dismissive, abandoning behavior the last 8 months... The colder he was, the worse I became, generally. And furthermore, if I were to feel happy several months from now and reclaim myself, why would I want to jeopardize my happiness again with him? If I become vulnerable again with him, what is in it for me, and how do I make this discussion equal? Surely there is a positive way to think about this part of it, too.
TLDR; The person I love (avoidant) wants to take a physical distance break for up to 6 months, and I'm (anxious-attached) devastated. He wants to be back together at some stage. How can I view this positively?
