Sanford gi endoscopy center
Advice/help please!
2023.06.08 13:37 Monnie28 Advice/help please!
I’ve been having on and off mild discomfort in the RUQ since February. Not painful, just feels like something is there and sometimes it’s a burning feeling. I’ve had 2 US, bloodwork, CT scan with contrast, and all came back normal except for 1 of the US which said there was a small focal area of adenomyomatosis within my gallbladder (no sludge, no stones, no wall thickening). I then had an upper endoscopy which found gastritis. I had a follow up with my GI Monday and he suggested a HIDA scan and wants me on Pepcid for 2 months to see if it helps. My questions are these: - does adenomyomatosis alone warrant GB removal if my discomfort is very mild and no other symptoms ? - will the Pepcid affect my HIDA scan?
Anyone else ever had a similar situation? Feeling scared and a bit lost, as he gave me no info on the gastritis and said that shouldn’t be causing my discomfort, although I’ve spoken to many people on here with gastritis that have the similar discomfort in the RUQ.
Any advice or help is appreciated! Thank you.

2023.06.08 05:25 keepingthingseevee I'm seeking a bit of advice or something or maybe just a rant
I'm fine with any opinions or suggestions on things to look into. But basically, I have been sick with a severely painful GI issues since September of 2021. It's in the upper right quadrant, and it's so painful and constant. That's not the only symptom but it it is the most persistent as there's never any breaks from the pain. I just kind of have to ignore it.
All of my tests have come back normal except for an endoscopy that found a lymphangiectasia on my duodenum and we did several tests on that. Heart checks, blood tests, CT etc. Nothing shows except an elevated CRP. We have done two endoscopies, a colonoscopy that showed polyps (I'm 27), and the pill camera test. Still nothing. My legs are swelling constantly, most food makes me so sick with extreme abdominal cramping that I physically cannot walk. It gives me chills all over my body. I am on several GI meds but none changes much other than sort of for the cramping but it doesn't help a whole lot. My doctor was looking for IBD in all of this but then after the test showed nothing according to him he said it's just IBS.
I just don't think that makes sense with all the issues. Then to top it off I had some gyno issues where I was bleeding for more than 7 months. I finally got a birth control that helped that but I want to add that in here too just encase that could add to it. That made me anemic due to how much I bled and how big some of the clots were as well. I also found that I have a newer symptom that when I stretch like just a casual way like when I'm tired or getting comfortable I get dizzy to the point of almost fainting. I'm unsure if that's an anemic thing or not because it's new and I haven't seen my doctor about it.
I'm just tired of hurting. Especially since I'm worried people will think I'm lying or making this up. I don't even know if I covered everything in this post because I'm having so much all at once that I can't tell.
Anyways, advice is welcome or opinions on what I should do... But even just writing this out helped me mentally so that works.

2023.06.08 03:10 666teapotserpent Colonoscopy : symptoms, experience, and diagnosis
I wanted to share my colonoscopy experience because this sub has helped me so much through my first colonoscopy experience.
About me: Live in US 26F 130 lbs 5’ 7” Active (college athlete, active into adulthood) Good diet (consists mostly of: local meat, lots of fruit, veggies, whole grains)
Symptoms: I have been on the constipated side of things since high school. I first sought medical help for this issue when I was 20. I was told miralax and fiber, which did help a bit. Fast forward a few years (to about two years ago) and my constipation is really not great and I’m getting some bloody stools and pain when having a bowel movement. I chalk this up to hemorrhoids from weightlifting. My constipation keeps getting worse, my pain keeps increasing, there is still bleeding, and I develop the feeling of incomplete bowel movements. I develop a need to strain sometimes, but these episodes result in small pieces of flat stool. This is definitely my most concerning symptom, personally. Every time I go, it feels like something is stuck and I strain.
Getting help: Finally, after waiting 1-2 years to address these problems, I start panicking. I make an appointment with a GP to get a referral to a GI (insurance b.s.). She takes a look and says I have a fissure, but makes the referral right away. I get into a GI within a few weeks. In this time, my anxiety about the situation gets completely out of control. I am having anxiety attacks, I am crying all the time, and I am obsessively googling my symptoms and convincing myself that I have cancer. I see the GI. She prescribed me a compound ointment to treat the fissure and because my symptoms have been going on for so long, she orders a colonoscopy. I was expecting to have to really push for my colonoscopy, but there were really no questions asked. Because of a cancellation by another patient, I am, by a blessing from my lucky stars, able to get in for the procedure within 3 weeks. The time between the appointment with the GI and the procedure is excruciating. My anxiety is crippling. I can’t get anything done. I can’t focus. I am still obsessing over my symptoms and convincing myself of the worst.
The prep: I was prescribed the Colyte prep. Seven days before the appointment, I stop eating raw veggies, nuts, seeds, and corn. (Not eating nuts, seeds, and raw veggies was actually super hard lol). The morning before the procedure, I have some rice cereal and a glass of goat milk. The rest of the day until I start drinking the prep at 6PM, I am CHUGGING fluids. I had 5 gatorades, 3 body armors, 0.75 gallons of water, and 32ish oz of chicken broth. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE WHO ENCOURAGED STAYING AS HYDRATED AS POSSIBLE. I think it saved me a lot of hurting haha. At 12PM I took my dulcolax. At 6PM I started drinking the prep. Every 15 min I would chug 8oz. Truly, the prep was not bad. I didn’t hate the taste. I didn’t feel too bloated. At like 7:30 the “pooping” started. I was on and off the toilet every 15-30 minutes until about 10:30. I was passing yellow at the end. The next morning, I got up at 6 and had another electrolyte drink before drinking the remaining prep solution. At the end of that, I was passing clear liquid. One weird thing that happened during the prep drinking was body shakes! After my second 8oz, I got very shaky and cold. It was like the shakes you get with the flu but without the general feeling of malaise.
The procedure: My husband drove me the 1.5 hours to the surgery center. My MD was running ahead of schedule, so I was pretty much taken right back, prepared, and rolled into the procedure room. I was terrified. My heart rate was so high. I was almost in tears as the nurse anesthetist talked to me about the sedation. I wasn’t scared of the procedure, but I was scared of waking up to the worst news of my life. Anyway, he said he was putting the medicine in, and he asked me how I was feeling. I remember slurring, “sleepy” and I was gone.
The results: Woke up a little groggy. Nurse comes into my recovery bay and said everything looked great. No polyps, no evidence of autoimmune issues, not even hemorrhoids. They diagnosed me with a chronic fissure and pelvic floor dysfunction (to explain the concerning symptom of feeling of incomplete bowel movement). I will be following up with my GI to start physical therapy for pelvic floor dysfunction.
I walk out of the surgery center feeling kinda fuzzy and off balance but totally fine.
Takeaway: I am so glad I finally saw someone about my symptoms. I am so glad I did the colonoscopy. The prep is the worst part, but that is totally relative. It is not that bad; you just pass liquid out your butt. I echo what others have said: STAY HYDRATED. This also helped me to keep my hunger at bay during the liquid diet/fasting process. I really didn’t get that hungry.
And finally, medical anxiety is real and it can be totally crippling. Mine was. I can’t say, “don’t google, just relax” because I couldn’t follow that advice myself. I will be contacting my psychiatrist tomorrow (who I have not been in contact with for several years and who prescribed me depression/anxiety medication that I have also been off for a couple of years) and discussing this with her. I let medical anxiety totally wreck my life for far too long throughout this experience. I also have a history of experiencing general and medical anxiety but not to this extent. I have to take better care of myself. I should have sought help for these symptoms over a year ago. I should have sought help for my medical anxiety much longer ago as well, but didn’t. If I could give any advice it would be: if you have weird or troubling symptoms, seek help.**
Thank you to everyone on this sub.
**I know sometimes this can be easier said than done. I live in the US and one of my rationales for neglecting to seek help earlier was cost. But ultimately, your health and wellbeing is more important than money. After today I fully expect to meet my $3000 deductible (🫠) but it is worth it.
TL;DR Blood, constipation, incomplete bowel movements for 1-2 years, horrible medical anxiety, colonoscopy completed, normal results. Diagnosed with fissures and PFD

2023.06.08 00:06 Altruistic-Carry-669 Not Ibd?
(21f) Long story short i don’t have IBD but instead i just have ibs.
When I was 12 i started to have a lot of gi symptoms. Painful gas, diarrhea, mucus in stool, frequent urgent bm, sharp pains in upper left side of tummy, occasional blood in stool, blood when i wipe, loose stool, occasional constipation, etc.
I had a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy. At the time they diagnosed GERD, lactose intolerance, and gastritis. They treated the gastritis put me on some type of medication i don’t remember what it was.
At age 14 symptoms worsened. I went to the hospital. They did a ct scan, found colitis and suspected possible crohns or UC. I got another colonoscopy. They said i had UC. They removed polyps. They did not medicate me. (At least I do not recall being put on anything other than more medication for gastritis, but i could be wrong because there was a lot going on in my life at the time and my memory is pretty shit.) I moved right after this across the country. I didn’t have insurance for awhile so we never got to follow up with another GI.
Now at age 20 I finally got myself a primary care doc and she gave me a referral for GI. I haven’t had a bad flare in while. I’ve cut out majority of my trigger foods. I cut caffeine out completely and dairy. I try to eat a bland diet most of the time. I got promoted at work and having less stress/anxiety. I still have occasional symptoms. Worse being frequent/ urgent bm, fatigue and painful bloating. With those i still don’t feel like I’m in an active flare up.
New GI wanted to do a colonoscopy. I had my follow up today. The results were completely normal. No evidence of UC or Crohns. Biopsies were also clear. He says i don’t have UC and there is no evidence i ever did and that the previous diagnosis was wrong/misunderstood and just caused extra worry. I should feel relieved. “It’s just Ibs” he says. He prescribed something to take 3 times daily. I haven’t picked it up yet and i will have another follow up in about 2 months to see if it has helped.
I just feel a bit defeated. I know i should be relieved because now there is no increased risk of colon cancer. But when you think you have been living with a serious incurable disease for over 5 years it feels like a slap in the face to be told its just ibs. And i know ibs can be awful and it is but still.
So i guess my question is do any of you relate to this? Have you been told one thing by a previous doctor and then your current not take it seriously or just say they were wrong? Is that possible? Have you ever had colonoscopy come back normal after previously been diagnosed? Is my current doctor correct? What does remission look like with IBD in biopsies/ scopes? Can colonoscopy look normal after years without a major flare up?

Highlights:~1' FM Miss: (FM 30) takes a corner kick with a quick pass to (FM 77) who ran towards the net and managed to get a re-direction aimed for the near bottom right corner, (WC 01- GK) easily smothers the ball
Highlights:~2' WC Miss: (WC 27) keeps a ball in play along the sideline and centers a pass to (WC 23) who one-time passes forward to the right wing side for (WC 452) who one-times a pass forward down the middle for a cutting (WC 456) the ball goes too deep and (FM 10- GK) comes off her goal line to clear the ball forward which (WC 27) kicks back into FM territory but out of bounds to the left wing side, a nice sequence of passes from WorldClass
Highlights:~2' FM Miss: (WC 27) takes a sideline kick-in with a lobbing shot towards the goal mouth that (FM 30) knees forward and it lobs high, (FM 88) gets to the ball first and beats (WC 27) and continues down the left wing, she drops a soft rolling cross pass that (FM 77) poke kicks at and is blocked by a falling (WC 23), the ball is still in play and (FM 77) kicks another shot that is blocked by (WC 456)'s leg while she is doing the splits! the ball is still in play and (FM 77) takes another shot and it's BLOCKED by (WC 27) in the face, THE BALL IS STILL IN PLAY, but (WC 23) while on the ground swipes a kick on the ball to clear it forward and towards the right wing side, with (FM 30) bearing down on it and taking a one-time shot on net that is slightly re-directed by (WC 456), THE BALL IS GOING TOWARDS the uncovered section of the wide bottom left corner area but (WC 01- GK) comes up HUGE with great tracking, stops the ball with her right hand and grabs the ball, jumping on top of it. WHAT a great flurry of action, great team Defense by WC all blocking shots! if this is what the rest of the game will be like i will be very happy hahaha, (WC 27) subs off for (WC 119) to enter the game
Highlights:~3' WC Miss: (WC 456) takes a corner kick quickly and kicks a back pass to (WC 23) who takes a shot on net that is deflected by (FM 30), the ball goes up but (FM 10- GK) tracks the ball well and catches it
Highlights:~3' FM Miss: (FM 88) takes a sideline kick-in with a quick cross pass where (FM 77) takes a one-time shot on net that (WC 119) re-directs with her stomach but the ball is going on target towards the near side bottom right corner, (WC 01- GK) tracks it down and catches the ball

Highlights:~4' WC Miss: (WC 119) takes a direct free-kick deep in WC territory with a high lobbing shot towards the net that (WC 452) barely misses a heading attempt, the ball goes out of bounds past the goal line for a goal kick
Highlights:~5' FM Miss: (FM 77) beats (WC 119) on a 50/50 ball and turns around, with (FM 88) cutting and calling for the ball on the right wing, (FM 77) decides to shoot on net from distance, aimed for the bottom right corner, (WC 01- GK) easily grabs the ball, poor decision making by (FM 77) but electing to shoot rather than pass
Highlights:~5' FM Miss: (FM 30) kicks the ball forward with a small lob, a perfect dump and chase pass that (FM 77) chases and (WC 01- GK) comes off her goal line to contest, (FM 77) manages to get her toe on the ball before (WC 01- GK) can get to the ball, however, the re-direction is wide by a foot to the left side of the net, all the coaches in the stands are stating how great a forward pass that (FM 30) kicked, WC are still playing too much in their end, they need to get their passing game going
Highlights:~6' WC Miss: (FM 30) takes a sideline kick-in from deep in FM territory and kicks the ball towards WC net, (WC 01- GK) comes off her goal line and kicks a short forward pass to (WC 23) who traps the ball and turns around and kicks a cross pass to center circle where (WC 452) receives the ball, it's a one-on-one with (WC 452) vs (FM 99), (WC 452) dribbles hard down the right wing side evading the bumps and checks by (FM 99), (WC 452) takes a power shot on target aimed bottom middle that (FM 10- GK) manages to block with her knees and the ball goes out of bounds to the sidelines
Highlights:~6' WC GOAL: (WC 119) takes a sideline kick-in from centre area and kicks the ball towards FM net, (FM 30) blocks it with her chest and the ball rebounds forward that (WC 452) tries to corrale but (FM 77) kicks away, but the ball is kicked towards (WC 119) who takes a one-time shot on target from near the centerline that deflects off of (FM 88) left arm that was sticking out and hits the top left corner of the woodwork and DEFLECTS IN!, even if the ball didn't go in, a handball foul would have been called, so great goal by (WC 119), the goal is scored as an OWN GOAL by (FM 88), if i was the score keeper that was not an OWN GOAL that was a pure goal for (WC 119)
Highlights:~6' WC FOUL: (WC 119) goes for a hard slide tackle that takes down (FM 88) hard, VAR is called after refs issued a yellow card, they are determining if this is a RED card offense, (FM 88) is holding her back the foul is changed to a RED CARD, Coach EulYong is now furious that his team will be short-handed, a direct free-kick in a great spot AND 3 minutes of 4v3 for FM
Highlights:~7' FM Miss: (FM 77) takes the direct free-kick with a shot on net that is aimed for the left middle post area, (WC 01- GK) tracks it down but lays off it but it HITS THE POST and deflects towards the sidelines, for a WC kick in
Highlights:~8' FM Miss: (FM 30) takes a sideline kick-in from deep in FM territory with a short pass down the wing for (FM 77) who traps the ball and back passes to (FM 30), WC defense forgot that (FM 88) was on the field all alone in WC territory, and (FM 30) kicks a beauty forward pass to (FM 88) who traps the ball, keeps control, turns around and sets up for a shot on net, (FM 88) takes a shot on target aimed for the near left side but it HITS THE POST and comes back into the field of play that (WC 456) clears out of bounds to the sidelines, what a glorious chance missed, great sequence of skills, but no ball in the net, upon the many replays, (WC 01- GK) gets her hand on the ball and actually gets the save, i thought it was a direct shot that hit the post
Highlights:~8' FM Miss: (FM 30) takes a sideline kick-in from WC corner area with a rolling cross to the middle that (FM 99) takes a one-time speedy bouncy ball aimed for the near side bottom left corner that (WC 01- GK) blocks, the ball goes out of bounds for a corner kick
Highlights:~8' FM Miss: (FM 30) takes a corner kick with a flick kick that sends the ball lobbing in the air and dropping to the goal mouth area, (FM 88) misses a re-direction chance and the ball drops and is trapped by her but she doesn't have control, she manages to track down the ball and kicks the ball behind her and it manages to get to (FM 77) who takes a shot on target that is aimed for the middle right area that (WC 01- GK) blocks for another corner kick
Highlights:~9' WC back to 4 on the field: the ref calls for (WC 119) re-enter the game as the three minute for the RED Card elapses, thirty seconds left in the first half
HALFTIME SCORE LINE: ------- WC 1 - 0 FM------------, looks like Elody has worked on her touch, it is a lot softer now and with more control. Great effort by both teams, looks like FM aren't getting their lucky breaks even though they have their chances

FM had great chances but luck was not on their side for bounces.
PREVIEWS: GT v FM, battle for the bronze medal, PSY and HyunYi play to win. KyungHee coming up big with some skill moves, why are the ladies crying at the end? did someone get seriously hurt? NOOOO!

2023.06.07 21:03 RepulsiveListen4415 Confusion after an X-ray esophagram
Hey everybody.
About 1.5 weeks ago I had spoken to a few of you about my symptoms following an abnormal endoscopy.
Back story: Two abnormal findings during the endoscopy had yielded samples with <5 eos and <10 eos. Despite falling below the criteria for diagnosis, >15 eos per biopsy, I learned those low numbers could have been a result of regular omeprazole use which began 1.5 months prior to the endoscopy.
Anyway, fast forward to last Friday: my GI sent me for an X-ray esophagram. Seeing how I’ve been struggling on-and-off with swallowing things including dry, crumbly foods like a handful of rice crispies, my swallowing was completely normal.
All of this is very confusing cause at this point the only thing I’m experiencing is severe nausea.
Given these results, I was wondering if any of you/anyone you know have experienced similar things. I’m seeing my GI next month, and I plan on asking about digestive issues like IBS/IBD/GORD.

2023.06.07 19:44 djspazzy Best adult CF clinic in Boston area?
Hello, looking for adult cf clinic recommendations in Boston.
There are two adult clinics in Boston I see, one is in mass general. Anyone get treated here? Are they worth scheduling an intro appointment? Looking to get in quickly as I have to get regular GI visits and scans.
Originally have been working with my team in Minneapolis, but because of family and life circumstances I am now living in Rhode Island. I don’t feel like flying across the country every time I have an issue. The cf centers in RI I hear from my current team are not great.

2023.06.07 19:44 chipotlecornsalsa_ IBS-C Treatment
I was diagnosed with IBS-C about a year ago. I was put on linzess 145mcg by my primary and didn’t have much success. My symptoms - constipation only relieved by laxatives, bloating, fatigue, chronic stomach pain, pain with palpating my stomach, gluten and milk sensitivity, etc. I have tried everything. GI is suspecting possible celiac even though I don’t have all the classic signs. For now, she recommended I continue linzess but upped my dose to 290mcg, take citrucel powder every morning, stop taking probiotics, and take pepcid. I have an upper endoscopy scheduled for August and they are taking a biopsy to confirm if I have celiac’s.
I am so tired of feeling this way. My stomach dictates what I wear, what I eat around family and friends, how I feel. It’s exhausting. For anyone with IBS-C what works for you?

2023.06.07 18:21 kaseyrenaexo Gene test or endoscopy?
The GI doctor said I can get an endoscopy to know for sure celiac or not, but gave the other option of the gene test for a less invasive option. He said if it’s negative I definitely don’t have celiac, but if positive, I could do the endoscopy.
Which should I go with? Should I just do the gene test since it isn’t as invasive and no risks? So you really can’t have celiac with negative genes?
