Moore joined the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland, after receiving his degree, where he studied the physical chemistry of solid rocket propellants used by the U.S. Navy in antiaircraft missiles.
Moore quickly concluded that the commercial sector offered more intriguing research opportunities with higher potential rewards.
In 1965, Moore was invited to forecast trends for the following ten years for a special issue of the journal Electronics.
Moore developed what is now known as Moore’s law after studying previous advances in the number of transistors per silicon chip: The number of transistors per silicon chip doubles per year.
Moore changed his time frame to two years in 1975 as the rate of expansion started to slow down.
The integrated circuit that turned into the microprocessor at Intel was this one. The integrated circuit was concurrently and independently created by Jack Kilby, a scientist with Texas Instruments.
The race in science and business that Moore’s Law put in motion was sparked by integrated circuits and the ability to mass fabricate them.
Fruit orchards in the nearby countryside were turned into Silicon Valley, a haven for high-tech start-ups, as a result of the exodus from Fairchild.
A “family tree” of dozens of enterprises from the valley with roots in Fairchild is featured in an exhibit at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View.

I’m 19, and finishing up my sophomore year at college in a month. I have applied to transfer to colleges and need to make a decision soon about what I want to do, but am so so confused. I’m from the US but I go to one of Canada’s really well known and world renowned universities. However, I feel like I didn’t think about the consequences of going to school in another country as much as I should have before I came here.
I’m a political Science major and studying Canadian politics has little to do with my career goals. I know for a fact that I want to move back to the US and live there for the rest of my life after I graduate. However, because of my chosen field, getting a job in politics/public policy/political communication/anything related to politics in the US with a Canadian Poli Sci degree seems to be almost impossible. I spent the last 7 months interning in D.C. and was told this by a lot of young professionals. I’m also just not a huge fan of Canada and can’t relate to this country and it’s systems. I also feel like an outsider here. I applied to transfer back to the States and am waiting to hear back from schools. I applied to major public schools across the country and have already heard back from one (which is just a few miles away from my grandma’s house) but and waiting to hear back from some (slightly) better ones, although this one is definitely a pretty good school too. At the same time, I am very comfortable where I’m at in Canada both city wise and campus wise. However, I know that my attachment to, familiarity with and comfort in this place has little to do with the fact that this place does very little to further my education and career goals in an appropriate way. Rather, it puts me at a disadvantage to a certain extent. However, I have the option to stay in Canada by choosing to major in International Relations instead and work in US-Canada relations. But I do not like IR and would choose US politics any day. Plus, US-Canada relations is an extremely narrow field and a lot of job opportunities would be present in Canada but I don’t want to live here after graduating. I also want to minor or double major in Communications but my school weirdly does not have a communications department (or even one course for that matter). Also, even though I have a very stable friend group here, I seem to have issues with them from time to time and doubt that I would be happy staying in this friend group for the next two years. At the same time, I fear having to make new friends and restart my entire life in the middle of my college career by leaving everything I have established here (including my comfort) behind and moving to a new city where I would not know a single soul, not to mention the fact that most people would already have their set/group of friends at whatever college I transfer to, which would leave making friends even more difficult than it already is considering I’m not extroverted. In fact, 99% of the friends I have at school right now are either from back home or mutuals/acquaintances and hence it feels like I never really had that “college experience” where you make new friends. Also, I feel like the friends I associate with here don’t let me grow the way I would want to and feel kind of suffocated with them at times, but at the end of the day they’re all I have and also I care for them as my friends even though at many instances I don’t see that reciprocated even though they claim to do so and tell me to my face that they’re my friends and that they care about me a lot. I guess coming back here after 7 months in D.C. made me start to function at a different tangent having lived alone in that city and being put out there into the real world while working for the first time. I felt like I had come back to that same old place and that they haven’t grown the way I did and that they are an obstacle in my path of growth. I also know I will not be seeing them much after I graduate considering I will move to the US. I’m also not at the best place mentally and am unsure if I could take that major change of transferring but I know that’s fixable and only going to benefit my long term career and that it’s only a matter of two years. I don’t want to end up not having a job after I graduate while all my friends do. So I guess it’s down to comfort zone+ attachment to city, campus, life here+2 more years of friendships and fun times and partying (basically mostly everything going in my favour) versus my long term career. My parents and my brain tell me I should transfer and look at the long term benefits of sacrificing two years of comfort and fun but my heart and my friends tell me to stay back.

Former AFC members from the West are marked light green. Australia, joined AFC in 2006, is part of the Eastern conference by the AFC. The 2022 FIFA World Cup was already gone for three months and in Asia, people are looking at this World Cup as the greatest success for Asia since the 2002 edition, also held in Asia. Three out of six teams reached the knockout stage of the tournament, which fuelled many fans a sense of pride about Asia's growing status in world's football. But while three out of six teams from Asia reached the last sixteen, it was the participants from Asia in the last sixteen that played a role there. In fact, all three national teams in the round of sixteen, Japan, South Korea and Australia, belong to the Eastern section of the AFC. To understand easily, AFC has separated its continent into two separate sections: the East comprises of Southeast, East Asia and Pacific countries; the West comprises Central, South and West Asia. This is due to logistical and cultural reasons, though it is excluded when comes to national teams. This has caused ire among Western Asian supporters, having been left to disbelief seeing Saudi Arabia, Iran and host Qatar suffering World Cup exit at the group stage. And this was made even more disheartening, as all these three nations had prepared very carefully for the 2022 tournament in Qatar. Qatar, the host country, started well with a successful 2019 AFC Asian Cup conquest under the watch of Spaniard Felix Sanchez Bas, who worked as youth coach of Barcelona in the past. Mr Bas helped Qatar U-20 team to win the 2014 AFC U-19 Championship and he cemented his merit by guiding Qatar to conquer the Asian Cup in neighbouring UAE. After the win, Qatar even managed to qualify for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup after a stellar performance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification, doubled for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualification, originally to be hosted by China. Between these games, Qatar also participated in other continental events outside Asia, such as the 2019 Copa America and the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. Qatar left good impressions with strong fights against the likes of Paraguay, Colombia, Honduras, Panama and even against Argentina and the United States. Qatar also competed in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification in Europe, too, only reserved for friendlies in the neutral ground of Hungary to square against the likes of Portugal, Serbia and Ireland. While winning neither of these three, Qatar got favourable experiences for it. Saudi Arabia was even more impressive. After a mediocre Asian Cup in the UAE, Saudi Arabia appointed Herve Renard as coach with a contract lasted until 2027. Saudi Arabia's main goal was not just qualifying to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, but also to demonstrate the strength of the Kingdom's football team. Renard was able to maximise his understanding about football, as the two-time winner of the Africa Cup of Nations solved it out easily. Throughout the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, Saudi Arabia produced a dominant display with 13 wins, 4 draws and only one loss, which was against Japan in the same qualifiers. Saudi Arabia even topped the qualifiers in their respective Group B, ahead of Japan and Australia in process, putting Australia to a near elimination. Iran didn't have such an easy start. After the semi-finals finish in the 2019 Asian Cup, Iran decided to take the chance with Belgian tactician Marc Wilmots, but he proved unable to steer Iran to win against arch-foes Bahrain and Iraq. However, Iranian football leadership was quick to sack Wilmots and brought in Dragan Skocic, a veteran coach from Croatia, to stabilise the team. Skocic proved to be an effective manager, as he steered Iran after the COVID-19 pandemic rupture, into gaining wins in the second round before displaying a dominant performance in the last round, beating the likes of Iraq and the UAE in process, with the 0-2 away defeat to South Korea irrelevant to the eventual table, Iran topped Group A and joined the Koreans into the World Cup in Qatar. That should have been something to be considered, the new dawn of Western Asian football? Well, the World Cup in Qatar had crashed everything. Qatar, well, the Qataris spent eight months in a centralised camp in Marbella, Spain and during that time, played numerous friendlies against the likes of teams like Bulgaria, Morocco, Ghana, Chile, Honduras and Panama. This should have been something of a blessing. But when the draw put Qatar together with tough big dogs the Netherlands, Ecuador and Senegal, thing didn't go fruitty. Qatar kickstarted their historic World Cup debut against Ecuador, the opponent they last won 4-3 in a friendly, but Ecuador handed Qatar a 0-2 defeat by the virtue of Enner Valencia. The first host to lose an opening World Cup game, Qatar found itself in no better position against a powerful Senegalese side, Qatar lost again, though they got one solace moment, the first World Cup goal from Mohammed Muntari. Against the Netherlands, the Qataris were totally awful, losing 0-2 to Louis Van Gaal's side again in a game dulled of clear chances. As such, the host ended their first debut at the worst way as possible, first host to lose all three games in the World Cup and, finished last. Iran, drawn in group B together with political foes England, the United States and Wales, had its perpetration impacted by political turmoil at home, and a sudden managerial change with Carlos Queiroz hurriedly appointed in replacement to Dragan Skocic. Despite the messes, Iran still gained notable results in friendlies, such as 1-0 win over Uruguay and a 1-1 draw to Senegal. Once the World Cup started, however, Iran's political crisis immediately proved fatal. Iran started their first match against England and was drowned 2-6 in a game where Iran's feckless defence crumbled to energetic strikers of Gareth Southgate's team. However, Iran salvaged a notable result, beating Wales 2-0 to win the first ever World Cup game against a European representative, all thanked to Rouzbeh Cheshmi and Ramin Rezaeian. But politics didn't tolerate Iran in the final game against the United States, the arch-enemy of the ruling mullahs; the Americans salvaged a win over the Iranians to end Iran's dream and, for the hurt of Iranians, their side has not progressed from the group stage of a single World Cup. This was not helped by the fact that the majority of players and even coach Queiroz openly sympathised with Iranian protesters. Saudi Arabia was the story of how the team made chaos in group C, where Argentina, Mexico and Poland joined. With the entire 26 players played in the Saudi Pro League, the Saudis under Herve Renard created its greatest shock in the history, becoming the first Asian team to beat Argentina in a thunderous 2-1 comeback in Lusail in just five minutes of the second half that, had Saudi Arabia progressed, would have been immortalised for decades and celebrated by thousands of fans with the mockery "Where is Messi". Unfortunately, lightning did not strike twice. Against Poland in a game where Saudi Arabia only needs a point to unlock the possibility of their first knockout stage since 1994, the Green Falcons completely dominated, but it was Robert Lewandowski and co. who left the field with three points; to make it worse, Salem Al-Dawsari, the hero against Argentina, was the one who failed to convert his penalty against Wojciech Szczesny, contributed to the Saudi slop. This forced the Falcons to gain a win over a desperate Mexico side and, in spite of the injuries and suspensions, Herve Renard, believing on the same good luck fortune in Lusail, opted an all-out 3-4-3 attacking format. Only this time, thing didn't go that way - Mexico did to Saudi Arabia what Saudi Arabia did to Argentina earlier, struck twice in just five minutes; when Al-Dawsari finally found the back of the net again, it was too little, too late, served nothing more than preventing Mexico from reaching the last sixteen. Despite the shock win against the eventual winner, Saudi Arabia still ended up bottom of their group and failed to advance past this phase once again, much to the despair of so many Saudi fans, as the Saudi's knockout stage drought has been extended to 32 years. And no one understood that pain more than Salem Al-Dawsari, who later burst to tears and swept through as he could not cope with the reality of Saudi Arabia being eliminated at the bottom place following the loss to Mexico. This was something of a contradiction to the disbelief of everyone watching. The first FIFA World Cup in the AFC's West, has been ended by the triumphs of teams from East. Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iran fans were probably wishing that, Japan, Australia and South Korea not to progress so that they would not leave the impression that Western Asia was falling behind Eastern Asia. It did not happen however, as Japan proved too brave for Germany and Spain, despite a slumping defeat to Costa Rica; South Korea managed a comeback against Portugal and concluded their progression thanked to their previous conqueror Ghana; Australia resurged from an early defeat to then-champions France to cruise into the last sixteen after wins over Tunisia and dark horse Denmark. This was too much for Saudi Arabia and Iran, as none of them was able to capitalise their advantage. This has concluded the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the first West Asian World Cup in the history, has been a total failure for the Western locals and the triumph for the Eastern guests. If we need to add what bitter the most, is out of 11 Asian knockout stage appearances, ten were already achieved by teams from AFC's East. What's left for them now is, well, I don't know, and we really don't know. But we should understand that, after the 2002 FIFA World Cup, which saw Eastern Asian nations succeeded with their goals, the 2022 edition was hoped to repeat that feat of Japan and South Korea, at least for the West. The arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and lavish buying by teams from the oil-rich monarchies in West Asia show that they have ambitions. But with these results revealed, one thing is certain: the prestige of AFC's Western conference has been severely damaged. And nothing will be the same again after the World Cup in Qatar. |
2023.03.26 09:19 Crafty_Current_9745 SQE1 Exam Sharing
Since the launch of SQE1 in November 2021, 3 rounds of exams were held. There are limited posts and sharings given the novelty of the exams so I guess that it would be helpful to share my experience with the January 2023 cohort.
Background
I am working as a full time lawyer with 8+ pqe and admitted in a non-US common law jurisdiction with a double degree in accounting and law. My first langauge is NOT English. I completed a master of law in a UK university around 10 years ago. I pass the SQE1 in the first attempt in the January 2023 diet and acheive 80%+ for both FLK1 and FLK2.
Prep School
The first common question is whether you need a prep school. The views expressed below are entirely personal opinions since each person would have their own studying methods and preferences.
In my view, prep school is essential if
(a) you have not completed your legal qualification (such as LLB/GDL/PGDL) in the UK; or
(b) you have graduated for some time and you have forgotten large chunks of laws back in your study; or
(c) you work full time (be it a lawyer or a house taker or whatever) and you do not have sufficent resources to research and locate the study material.
The second common question is which prep school you should choose. I formed a study group with a few friends. In order to maximize our resources, we have each subscribed different prep schools and compared the materials (Barbri / QLTS / OUP / UoL). DISCLAIMER: all comments are personal and each user would have different feelings on the course providers.
Based on the table, one would probably agree that each prep school has its strengths and weaknesses. Further, the comments would very much depend on personal preferences. In choosing a prep school, I would recommend you trying the free session of each prep school first.
Studying for the Exam
After selecting the proper prep school, it is time for you to study. So, the third question is how much time you need to prepare for the exam.
Again, it depends a lot of the circumstances. In my view, the following two elements would be of significant weight: (a) a common law background; and (b) your practice area.
If you have a common law background, for tort, contract, criminal, trust and business law, you should already have a basic, if not sound foundation on these topics. One may just simply flip through the relevant chapters in the prep school manuals and then start doing the practice questions.
The other topics are more tricky and this is when your practice area is relevant. If you are a litigator, you may find civil procedure very easy. If you work as a criminal defender, no doubt criminal procedure (and some of the public law topics) would be at your finger tips but you probably would like to spend more time on other areas.
For people who do not complete a UK law degree: land law and property practice are big problems and they contribute around 35% of questions in FLK2. You should be prepared to spend a lot of time on these two areas since the UK land law is very different from other common law jurisdictions. I would suggest that anyone who has issues with land law to buy a copy of Concentrate Land Law from OUP. I find that if you know this book inside out, you probably will master at least half of the questions related to land law and property practice in FLK2.
Personally, I prepared the exam for 8 months. I rarely studied in weekdays due to work commitment (except for the last month before the exam) and I spent around 5 to 6 hours each day on Saturdays and Sundays. I took around 10 days off before the exam and spent around 6 hours a day to revise. Instead of reading books, I spent a lot of time doing practice questions and reviewed the explanations. I completed all the practice questions and the 30 mock exams in QLTS package. On balance, 65% of my time were on FLK2 topics while the remaining on FLK1 topics.
Speific topics: Ethics, financial services, solicitor accounts and tax
Many candidates are uncomfortable in these topics.
However, in the real exam, for ethics, the fact patterns are relatively straight forward and are covered in most prep school manuals. These are easy marks which one could get without difficulties.
The topic of financial services only appears in FLK1. It is NOT NECESSARY for you to memorize the complex rules (as found in QLTS books). In the examination, they only test you basic concepts (such as when authorizations and exemptions apply, note the special rules for insurance). The UoL books in my view better reflect what are examinable for this topic.
The topic of solicitor accounts is painful to some candidates. It is only tested in FLK2. As someone with accounting background, I only spend 30 minutes to read through the relevant rules on the SRA website and then start doing the practice questions. If you know the underlying concepts, the question is simply a formality. Again, I would recommend UoL books for those who are struggling with this topic.
Tax is a headache to most candidates. Background
I am working as a full time lawyer with 8+ pqe and admitted in a non-US common law jurisdiction with a double degree in accounting and law. My first langauge is NOT English. I completed a master of law in a UK university around 10 years ago. I pass the SQE1 in the first attempt in the January 2023 diet and acheive 80%+ for both FLK1 and FLK2.
Prep School
The first common question is whether you need a prep school. The views expressed below are entirely personal opinions since each person would have their own studying methods and preferences.
In my view, prep school is essential if
(a) you have not completed your legal qualification (such as LLB/GDL/PGDL) in the UK; or
(b) you have graduated for some time and you have forgotten large chunks of laws back in your study; or
(c) you work full time (be it a lawyer or a house taker or whatever) and you do not have sufficent resources to research and locate the study material.
The second common question is which prep school you should choose. I formed a study group with a few friends. In order to maximize our resources, we have each subscribed different prep schools and compared the materials (Barbri / QLTS / OUP / UoL). DISCLAIMER: all comments are personal and each user would have different feelings on the course providers.

Studying for the Exam
After selecting the proper prep school, it is time for you to study. So, the third question is how much time you need to prepare for the exam.
Again, it depends a lot of the circumstances. In my view, the following two elements would be of significant weight: (a) a common law background; and (b) your practice area.
If you have a common law background, for tort, contract, criminal, trust and business law, you should already have a basic, if not sound foundation on these topics. One may just simply flip through the relevant chapters in the prep school manuals and then start doing the practice questions.
The other topics are more tricky and this is when your practice area is relevant. If you are a litigator, you may find civil procedure very easy. If you work as a criminal defender, no doubt criminal procedure (and some of the public law topics) would be at your finger tips but you probably would like to spend more time on other areas.
For people who do not complete a UK law degree: land law and property practice are big problems and they contribute around 35% of questions in FLK2. You should be prepared to spend a lot of time on these two areas since the UK land law is very different from other common law jurisdictions. I would suggest that anyone who has issues with land law to buy a copy of Concentrate Land Law from OUP. I find that if you know this book inside out, you probably will master at least half of the questions related to land law and property practice in FLK2.
Personally, I prepared the exam for 8 months. I rarely studied in weekdays due to work commitment (except for the last month before the exam) and I spent around 5 to 6 hours each day on Saturdays and Sundays. I took around 10 days off before the exam and spent around 6 hours a day to revise. Instead of reading books, I spent a lot of time doing practice questions and reviewed the explanations. I completed all the practice questions and the 30 mock exams in QLTS package. On balance, 65% of my time were on FLK2 topics while the remaining on FLK1 topics.
Speific topics: Ethics, financial services, solicitor accounts and tax
Many candidates are uncomfortable in these topics.
However, in the real exam, for ethics, the fact patterns are relatively straight forward and are covered in most prep school manuals. These are easy marks which one could get without difficulties.
The topic of financial services only appears in FLK1. It is NOT NECESSARY for you to memorize the complex rules (as found in QLTS books). In the examination, they only test you basic concepts (such as when authorizations and exemptions apply, note the special rules for insurance). The UoL books in my view better reflect what are examinable for this topic.
The topic of solicitor accounts is painful to some candidates. It is only tested in FLK2. As someone with accounting background, I only spend 30 minutes to read through the relevant rules on the SRA website and then start doing the practice questions. If you know the underlying concepts, the question is simply a formality. Again, I would recommend UoL books for those who are struggling with this topic.

I’m 19, and finishing up my sophomore year at college in a month. I have applied to transfer to colleges and need to make a decision soon about what I want to do, but am so so confused. I’m from the US but I go to one of Canada’s really well known and world renowned universities. However, I feel like I didn’t think about the consequences of going to school in another country as much as I should have before I came here.
I’m a political Science major and studying Canadian politics has little to do with my career goals. I know for a fact that I want to move back to the US and live there for the rest of my life after I graduate. However, because of my chosen field, getting a job in politics/public policy/political communication/anything related to politics in the US with a Canadian Poli Sci degree seems to be almost impossible. I spent the last 7 months interning in D.C. and was told this by a lot of young professionals. I’m also just not a huge fan of Canada and can’t relate to this country and it’s systems. I also feel like an outsider here. I applied to transfer back to the States and am waiting to hear back from schools. I applied to major public schools across the country and have already heard back from one (which is just a few miles away from my grandma’s house) but and waiting to hear back from some (slightly) better ones, although this one is definitely a pretty good school too. At the same time, I am very comfortable where I’m at in Canada both city wise and campus wise. However, I know that my attachment to, familiarity with and comfort in this place has little to do with the fact that this place does very little to further my education and career goals in an appropriate way. Rather, it puts me at a disadvantage to a certain extent. However, I have the option to stay in Canada by choosing to major in International Relations instead and work in US-Canada relations. But I do not like IR and would choose US politics any day. Plus, US-Canada relations is an extremely narrow field and a lot of job opportunities would be present in Canada but I don’t want to live here after graduating. I also want to minor or double major in Communications but my school weirdly does not have a communications department (or even one course for that matter). Also, even though I have a very stable friend group here, I seem to have issues with them from time to time and doubt that I would be happy staying in this friend group for the next two years. At the same time, I fear having to make new friends and restart my entire life in the middle of my college career by leaving everything I have established here (including my comfort) behind and moving to a new city where I would not know a single soul, not to mention the fact that most people would already have their set/group of friends at whatever college I transfer to, which would leave making friends even more difficult than it already is considering I’m not extroverted. In fact, 99% of the friends I have at school right now are either from back home or mutuals/acquaintances and hence it feels like I never really had that “college experience” where you make new friends. Also, I feel like the friends I associate with here don’t let me grow the way I would want to and feel kind of suffocated with them at times, but at the end of the day they’re all I have and also I care for them as my friends even though at many instances I don’t see that reciprocated even though they claim to do so and tell me to my face that they’re my friends and that they care about me a lot. I guess coming back here after 7 months in D.C. made me start to function at a different tangent having lived alone in that city and being put out there into the real world while working for the first time. I felt like I had come back to that same old place and that they haven’t grown the way I did and that they are an obstacle in my path of growth. I also know I will not be seeing them much after I graduate considering I will move to the US. I’m also not at the best place mentally and am unsure if I could take that major change of transferring but I know that’s fixable and only going to benefit my long term career. I don’t want to end up not having a job after I graduate while all my friends do. So I guess it’s down to comfort zone+ attachment to city, campus, life here+2 more years of friendships and fun times and partying (basically mostly everything going in my favour) versus my long term career. My parents and my brain tell me I should transfer and look at the long term benefits of sacrificing two years of comfort and fun but my heart and my friends tell me to stay back.

The gist of my question is that I have been encouraged to outsource for advice on what course of action to take. I've spoken with Bethesda agents and also a family friend who does tech repair for a living, and it's highly likely my OS is corrupted.
What is the best way to go about repairing Windows 10?
I grew up with familiarity repairing and working with Windows OS between 3.1 and XP, but I have next to zero familiarity with any OS after DOS was phased out. It's also pretty foreign to me to imagine being able to do a boot sequence from a USB rather than a disc, but here we are.
I have backed up all my media, and I have prepared a thumb drive as a boot media using the Windows MCT app. (And I'll extract my registration key from the current install prior to taking any further steps. I just haven't yet.) I just am not sure how to proceed from here, since there's so many different options for repairing Windows 10. (The only repair "reinstallation" I've already tried is running DISM with a current ISO copy of Windows 10's setup files.)
I've included my specs at the end of the post, if they're relevant. I can also figure out how to provide MSInfo and DXDiag TXTs if you need them.
I appreciate any input, insight, and advice you may be able to provide.
So, the long of it.
I was gifted a Microsoft copy of Fallout 76 back in November, and for the first month everything ran fine. Then the first week of December or so, I started having a highly reproducible bug that essentially locks me out of an entire feature. I tried game-specific suggestions from the F76 community to try to fix it, such as deleting my pref INIs to force the game to create new ones with the default parameters, and in-game stuff that didn't alter files. When none of that worked, I finally reached out early this month to Bethesda's support to see if they could walk me through anything that could fix my issue. I am not an isolated case for this bug, so I figured I could at least get somewhere. The tech agents were very patient and exhaustive trying to diagnose a source for the issue. Despite about two weeks of back and forth, we didn't determine any solutions, and they passed my ticket on to development to see if they could patch a solution into a future game update. We started out in a combination about like so:
At first, it did not seem like the permissions edit was taking by doing it via the Advanced Security tab: either I'd exit all the way out of File Explorer and return to the Advanced Security settings to find the principal wasn't changed, or I would try to change settings/principals on F76 Gamepass and the options would all grey out except to view. So, I used a PowerShell command to try to take control of F76 Gamepass that way. (SPOILER for those reading this post and do not know: WindowsApps is user-protected in a very specific way, and altering it even just to view the folder contents can create unpredictable behavior. If you don't know *exactly* what you're doing, it's probably ill advised to edit the WindowsApps permissions in any way. Only learning this myself after the fact, trying to research "what's wrong" with my Gamepass EXE.) I'm pretty confident the command didn't resolve completely, just based on system behaviors after that actions.
I didn't figure it was a good thing to keep the altered permissions settings for WindowsApps, anyway, if it didn't resolve the bug I altered them for. However, I needed to use a Restore Point to reverse them to the system standard, because trying to set it back to Admins myself did something that seems to have damaged several unrelated applications, like Discord, which *isn't* UWP and is in my Program Files folder. I had to reinstall several things, including F76. (In hindsight, I think the PowerShell command I used altered the entire system's user permissions. It's been a few weeks since I did it, so I'm not entirely confident which command I used. I am rusty with DOS but only have vague command of PowerShell, so it was definitely a bad idea on my part to have tried this.)
When I reported to the Beth agent, they combed over DXDiag and MSInfo files, and told me that the only thing that looked out of ordinary was an event causing ntdll.dll to crash. I was told to do two things in CMD.
At one point two days ago, I got several hours of smooth gameplay before the bug appeared. I exited the game to repeat the debug routine I described above, but then I got a series of new errors, beginning with the XBox app telling me F76 wasn't installed. I could locate the F76 installation folder on my laptop myself and the MS Store said it was installed, but the XBox app didn't think it was. I located two different places that the system had installed it--both nested within folders called WindowsApps even though one was not in the default location--so I thought perhaps my issue had been that my inclusions/exclusions were pointing to the wrong copy. I tried changing that in Defender and GEFX, but the other copy of F76 Gamepass wouldn't let me add it to lists either. After doing that, the MS Store no longer reflected that the game was installed on my system, and the next time I looked for the two places where the game had been installed, I could not locate either. The amount of free space on the two partitions of my hard drive has not changed to reflect a 100GB game being uninstalled/deleted, and I've checked my Recycling Bin for it.
I have looked into public solutions for Gaming Services related errors and tried these:
Then the system could no longer find the NVIDIA or Intel Control Panels, something about "parameters being incorrect." Repairing them with Add/Remove Programs and reinstalling them did not make it so my system could locate them. I have also tried a repair via Add/Remove Programs and a reinstall for Gaming Services, XBox app, GEFX, and MS Store. I would've tried a repair via Add/Remove Programs for F76 but the game is no longer in the apps list.
The biggest problem I am currently seeing going forward is that my system has been deleting my Restore Points. I do not have one prior to the game mysteriously uninstalling itself and these error messages manifesting.
Aside from the System Restore Point issue, the only things I'm really seeing affected at this point are that I can no longer run Fallout 76, Gaming Services appears to be missing, and upon restarting my system, I get two error pop-ups telling me those two Control Panels are missing. My art programs run. Firefox runs. Discord and anything else I've had to reinstall all run fine. SFC and DISM scans have never reported corrupt files, not even now, and the ISO I've been using for DISM is directly from the Windows MCT app as of this week.
(In hindsight, as I read over my post, I feel like the big problems might be chalked up to what amounts to repeatedly reinstalling system files, and something getting minced along the way. Regardless of whether that's the case, it definitely looks like a clean copy of Windows is in order.)

- made sure I met the minimum requirements to run the game
- verified the game files with the XBox app
- did a clean installation of F76
- tried to add GEFX and F76 to the Windows Defender exceptions
- tried to add F76 to GEFX
- tried adding F76 to my Steam library as a non-Steam game
- tried to alter game-specific settings manually via GEForce Control Panel, but the game isn't listed there or in GEFX
- tried all of the above also in safe mode with a completely new user profile

- The main rule: Fainted Pokemon are considered dead and must be released. (or permaboxed if you are a wimp which I am a wimp who boxes my Pokemon)
- The first Pokemon you see must be caught. If you kill it or accidentally run away then too bad for you! :D
- A male and female Pokemon are partnered and you can only switch to that partner and if one of two Pokemon dies then you must switch to the other Pokemon and you cannot switch to something else. If both Pokemon die then you can switch to any pokemon if you want.
- You can't deposit Pokemon unless they die. Or you could release a Pokemon to have an empty space but you are required to feel bad afterwards. :D
- If you have a pair that is not actually a pair and just one Pokemon then get the Pokemon that has the opposite gender. (You can make it so that there are same-gender relationships in your Wedlocke which is called a Rainbow Wedlocke. Marilland acknowledged the existence of that and he even did one himself in Sapphire.)
- Dupe Clause. IDK if I should make my Dupes clause optional or not. Optional dupes clause is when you encounter a Pokemon you already have(or had, that Pokemon might be dead), then you have the OPTION to catch it.
- Gift clause: Gift clause is kinda like the shiny clause(which I also have in effect) but for gift and static encounter Pokemon.
- Only 3 healing items. Switch mode is on but I can only switch to the partner of the Pokemon. I can't believe I was originally going to make this a hardcore nuzlocke. Doing a normal Wedlocke is masochistic enough.
- Because BDSP is very hard, I won't have level caps.

One last thing, all Bidoof god joke aside, I think Simple Bidoof/Bibarel is underrated because you can double you stat changes and a Defense Curl is basically a Iron Defense/any other move that raises defense sharply. I think my Bidoof can actually become a god.
