Erie metal roof reviews
I’m constantly getting this bug where if I open a window over another, it has this odd transparent/opaque effect. I got this issue only with windows 11. Any suggestions?

2023.03.27 03:26 Bollucks760 Sterling Mariposa
Hey everyone, I was hoping to get some advice to help me decide on a first guitar. I have been going nuts scouring Sweetwater’s site and spending time at guitar center getting my hands on as many guitars as I can. I was originally aiming for something sharp and pointy like an explorer or V. But then realized something more comfortable to play might be more beneficial, I’m currently borrowing a strat and love the body contours but not the neck to so much I really like a 12” radius.
Anyhow enough waffling on. I first saw the Sterling Mariposa and thought it was cool looking, then I found a Pueblo pink one in the local store and while I’m not crazy about the color I really liked the neck and it felt really premium compared to other guitars I had been testing. There aren’t a ton of reviews on them, and the ones I can find are pretty positive, so I’m wondering if there’s anyone with experience with one that can give me their feedback.
My other question is should I go with something with a little more flexibility or will I be just fine with the HH setup? I primarily want to play older metal like maiden, megadeath, ac/dc but the ultimate goal is to play the blues. I know BB King played humbuckers, but you also see a lot of strats.
More then likely I’m overthinking things. Musicians Friend currently has the white Mariposa on sale for 499, so provided they are a decent company I wouldn’t mind buying one.

Figured I'd get people's opinion on if they're good notes... basically I'm keeping record of the sessions from NPC members of the platoon who were there for the sessions... that way I'm not putting thoughts in my players heads in the flashbacks/reviews for each session...Let me know what ya'll think._______________________________________________
D-10 … Orbital Palace Sarai
“So… It’s a dunghole?.... Sir.” Leutenent Falkirk was still getting used to his new position on the command staff.
“Which is saying a lot, coming from a man whose home world is so toxic he grew up wearing a mask…” Commisar Karrik was a fairly stoic fellow, unphased by the young officers lack of decorum. Clearing his throat he continued the briefing…
“As I was explaining,” Karrik made a sweeping gesture across the strategium making the globe on the surface spin wildly. “Kroma III, is a former deathworld. Exterminatus of the mega-flora would risk damaging the raw promethum found on the planet. So the knight house Tardif, support the Unrelenting Duty, last of the warlord titans dropped planetside to burn the planet clear. Their burns make the habitable zone covered in ash storms most of the year.“ Palm to the surface, the globe stopped spinning. On the display the two major northern continents were each partially visible… a red trail tracing east-west along the tropic where they joined in a narrow land bridge. Karrik traced his finger along the line, emphasizing it to the other staff at the table.“This treeline is the hold out of the native plantlife. It takes a year for the Unrelenting Duty to march the length pushing it back with plasma burns while the knights clean up and scour the land. We can expect no support from the titans as they insure everything south of this line stays ash..”
With a harsh stab ,Karrik selected one of the red dots on the continent, zooming in to show an expanded view. The strategium screen split to show a dual top, and side cut-away view of the hive city turned mine. The deep bowl in the earth was shown, centered around a set of 8 Hellbore Pylons. Archaeo-tech of the lost age cutting kilometers into the crust, and serving as great geothermal pumps.
“The cities are capped with durasteel branching out from these core pylons. Winds on the ash plains are too strong to allow any building more than 8 meters to stand for long. Ash harvesters clear the cap on a regular basis. We will not be able to land directly in any city. “
Marking out zones northeast and southwest of the main bowl, he zoomed in to the gateways on the upper level.
“The six major cities cut 20 to 30 levels deep, accessible by 8 gateways around the city. The Lord Castellan has decided we will drop 2 battalions on either side of each city at the minor gateways to breach and make access. Once inside you will be supported by local PDF to then make contact. You will be restricted to planetside vox systems once you land and will have to assess the local comms network once you establish control.”
A cough to his left bright a tight lipped grimace to Karriks jaw as his gaze to Falkirk again. The boy was rapidly scrolling though his data slate and the words came out without thinking, “We’re always in contact with command, that’s standard operations.”
“No.” Karrik growled it more than spoke. “The ash storms will black out all vox for more than a few hundred kilometers. Orbital communications are blocked whenever there is a storm. On the opening drops, each city will fire a volley from their macro-lance batteries to clear the cloud cover before we come in, and to send data bursts to the orbital palace. Once the coverage wraps, you’ll be on your own until you can link up with command. The division astropath will similarly be hampered. We don’t know why, but warn them before the drop, Harris.” Karrik fixed his stare on Captain Harris. The grizzled sack of flesh tried to meet his look for a moment before making a quick nod and a big gesture of adding a note to his data slate. Why a man who openly hated anything to do with psykers was assigned the battalion’s wyrdvane detachment is anyone’s guess. They probably wouldn’t survive this deployment.
“What of the enemy? What kind of resistance will they present?” Again with Falkirk’s questioning. Karrik took a moment to remind himself, snapping at the Lord Castellan’s grandson is no way to start a deployment.
“Mono, Deux, Tretia, and Quard are all under the control of the local PDF. This will not be a hot landing. We are dealing with cultists, not a reinforced battalion with artillery support.”
….
That was it. That was the moment Karrik “volunteered” himself for this damnable position. Orgryn management on the spearhead battalion. “If it was a simple drop into allied territory, he wouldn’t mind taking the first drop ship down.” Since the forward breachers always had the ogryn, it gave a fine opportunity to show how those Alpha Dragoon command skills could be put to use.
The whimper to his side shook the commissar out of his thoughts. A valkyrie of scion troopers could drop at twice this speed from near orbit without a whisper of doubt, but the three bullgryn chained to the wall in the chimera couldn’t help but make noise. The division tech priest had suggested a electroprod, and now it seemed like a better idea than Karrik’s usual chainsword.
The second jolt threw him against the belts and set the brutes whimpering again. The airway was supposed to be clear. With a quick tap, Karrik brought up coms to hear the flight squad report.
It was silent.
Heavy landers aren’t known for their graceful touch downs, but bone rattling collisions with the ground are not the norm. In the main bay tanks were blessed by the techpriest and signaled to start. As the landing ramp began to lower, fog thick ash clouds forced their way in. Then the bombardment began. Shelling rocking the lander hard.
“FORWARD” The digitized voice of Theta-Gamma cracked over coms, spurring the front unit of battle tanks on. With the implacable grip of a servo claw, the tech priest pulled himself to ride atop the last of the hellhound scout tanks.
The landing ramp was jammed halfway down after the last barrage, but was no resistance to the heft of the Leman Russ trio at the lead of the column. Over the coms, a binaric prayer to the machine spirits for forgiveness mimicked the scream of the front ramp collapsing. Forward into the clouds pushed the parade of armoured transports.
“Artillery barrage, sir. They seem to have zeroed in on the LZ.” Bryce watched as the command bridge of the lander crumpled under the explosive punishment. “Air retraction is no longer possible.”
“Earthshakers!” It was rumored that Lieutenant Haddon’s support specialist could tell the forgeworld of a cannon just by the sound it made while firing. From the beating the lander was taking, it sounded like Faedra was right.
Karrik listened patiently, there was nothing else he could do. It would take time to extricate the whole column, and Haddon had mere seconds to make the decision. In his head, Karrik poured over the limited map they had been given by the governor. Shifting ash made the trench-mines south an option, but would leave them isolated. Pushing forward to the city meant the risk that the enemy artillery might continue pounding them. When did the enemy get artillery, that wasn’t in the reports.
“FORWARD! To the city!” Haddon’s command was unsurprising to say the least. Karrik could even hear his driver pushing his engine to keep up with the headlong rush. This Razak Mobile infantry took their title with zeal that would make imperial priests jealous. “First into the Fire” indeed.
The barrage continued as the column moved forward. Through the lasarray viewers, Karrik saw one of the rearguard sentinels take a direct hit. In the middle of its loping stride, the gangly walker’s cockpit detonated in a brilliant fireball. For a brief moment, Karrik could see the grim faces of his ogryn guards clear as daylight, then nothing but a wad of smoke and steel crashed to the ground.
Still, the Razak line pushed on. Earth and ash churning under the weight of steel treads. The column was planned to aim north to the road, then follow its ramp down into the city… with a clack of his jaw may have cracked a tooth, Karrik felt the chimera drop steeply. Ramp-be-damned as the battalion took the two meter drop at full clip to get entrenched out of fire.
The coms net picked up again, full of static, but Haddon’s commands coming over the vox. Pacing spread out to avoid mixed hits from shells, and the loss of two sentinel walkers reported. When the squad sergeant was hit, one of the others missed the turn off and had fled the column. He reported the barrage had stopped when the battalion made the road, but was still being reprimanded for his flight. Another pilot would be assigned who was more reliable.
Curious, Karrik released his restraints to open the top hatch and take the observer position. Greeted with a steel-grey sky that churned like the sea overhead, the weight of the situation locked in. Mono’s service highway was cut like a ramp into the earth leading down. Already it towered six meters or so on either side and barely wide enough for two tanks to ride side by side. Thick, rough, ash had settled on the walls and road. It dusted the tanks that left black pressed trails behind. Like a pencil on a sheet of vellum, they’ll know right where we went.
Not that there were any choices where to go now.
Ahead, the gates to the city, if they could be called that, began to loom. The great durasteel disk that was the roof of the city, came to a sharp end. Girders gapped with mesh stood bare to the elements. They spanned the width of the road channel in a criss-crossed web of construction making a rough arch two stories tall. White hard sodium style lamps ran the channel and either side of the arch making everything sharp, and gray. No doors stood to block the road as a hive-city would have, instead the dust and ash everywhere whipped back in long slow bursts. Karrik raised his arm to block the sudden wind as his ride got within the blast zone, feeling the warmth coming from the city push through his jacket. As the ash that had settled along the roof of the chimera blew away, he had to wonder if this was an intentional design of the city, or a happy accident of the thermals produced by the great steel beast.
With a jerk, the column came to a halt. Over the microbead in his helm, Haddon sent out the order to spread and disembark, there was trouble ahead the tanks couldn’t deal with.
In the dark of the gate, flashes of light started to repeat back and forth. Hearing the ogryn sigh as they pushed to get out the rear gate, Karrik fished for his monocular to get a better look.Theta-gamma, his red robes billowing in the breath of the city, had taken point with first squad. Faedra was rushing to the rear, setting the hellhounds on her flanks for rear watch. Even the Lieutenant and his squad were on watch at the front, giving Karrik excuse enough to dismount and bring his boys at a brisk trot to catch up.
The problem became clear as Karrik made it to the command squad. Some kind of improvised trip mines had been strung across the roadway just at the end of the entry ramp inside the city proper. From the top of the ramp, the ruins were visible, heavy damage crumbled and shattered every wall in sight. Rooftops burned still in the distance, and only the same awful, pale light of the city street lights gave any illumination under the durasteel cap. Again those flashes of light danced in the distance and Karrik brought up his monocular. Las-fire trace between buildings ahead toward the city center.
Raising his hand to grab the Lieutenant’s attention, Karrik was suddenly pushed aside…“And Lo, Do I Strike at the Heretic!” The quarter ton of muscle and bone that made Gregori the rightful bodyguard of company command, slammed forward into the rear of First Squad, knocking two men aside. There was a pause as everyone looked to where he was pointing, before thunder struck.
Kra-KOOM!
Fire and smoke poured from the ruins left of the road, the flash casting silhouettes thrown by ogryns frag grenade. With a whine, white hot pain lanced across Karrik’s vision before the goggles photo filters kicked in to protect him from the multilaser’s firing. Without warning, the command chimera opened a door in the ruins of the second floor revealing the remains of a surprised pair of snipers, leaving them to clatter down the wrecked wall to the floor below.
Then came the chaos. With a howl and a cry “For the Lord of Stars!” auto-gun fire pelted the First Squad, even disrupting Gama-Theta from his work dismantling the road mines.
“Maveriks! TO THE WINDOWS!” Again, Karrik was surprised by Haddon’s aggression. While brutes formed up around the commisar, locking shields, the surprised First Squad found their feet quickly pushing straight at the enemy. Wild las-fire suppressed the windows while mono-knives found flesh as soldiers chipped and bleeding from the hail of enemy fire called in response, “TO THE WALLS!”
Karrik watched as the warmachine of the imperium took their ambushers to task. Theta-Gamma followed the call and set the pace of the advance. Kackling in binary, the tech-priest’s servo claw punched through ferrocrete wall and cultists alike. Gore erupted from the warrior’s remains like a ration tube, trapped beneath a tank tread. Still the Maveriks fought on. Las fire ceased as they put men to the knife. Heavy fire from the leading battletanks shredded potential sniper positions to reveal naught but the dead. The viciousness of the attack set the enemy on their heel, many began to panic and try to flee while caught, and crushed by ogrun and man alike.
“Maveriks! Occupy and Defend!” Haddon’s call caught Karrik’s attention, the Lieutenant was watching the opposite side of the street now. With the cultists in route, Karrik saw a few last flashes of lasfire from the building while First Squad quickly reversed stances, taking cover behind the very walls they had just purified in heretic blood.
Following Hadron’s gaze to the other side of the street, Karrik finally pushed past the ogryn wall. There, half crouched, and slack jawed, stood men of the Kroma Light. “Whitecaps” the locals called them, according to reports. Now the Maveriks saw why. Where the Razak Mobile donned somber colors, black for the mourning of the 198th, green for the new beginning of the 199th, the Kroma Light was a parade of color. Polished gold pauldrons shining on sky blue jackets were accented with white webbing and almost luminescent kepi caps. The Kroma’s sergeant signaled his men to stand down with a wave of his sword, making them stand at attention, but not shoulder their weapons.
“Kroma Light?” Lieutenant Hadron had pulled his mask to be heard clearly, “We are the 199th Razak Mobile, your reinforcements. We need billeting, and a place to check our hardware.”

2023.03.27 01:45 AkiraSieghart What outdoor speakers are you guys using?
I have a 16' x 12' metal gazebo out in my backyard. I want to turn it into a better entertainment space by bringing the ability to listen to music, play games, and watch TV/movies outdoor.
I plan on hanging an Optoma GT1080HDRx which is a short throw 1080p 120Hz projector. The screen will most likely be Elite Screens Yard Master 120Hz manual screen. The screen, the speakers, and the subwoofer will remain outdoors (though still covered by the roof) while the projector and AVR will be coming inside after every use. I'm still deciding between speakers and a receiver. The projector to AVR will most likely be optical so I can use the 120Hz feature of the projector. I'm thinking 3.1 should be plenty. I'm not sure if I should bother to spring for name brand Polk or Klipsch or if I should get something cheap like
these off of Amazon along with an outdoor weather-resistance subwoofer.
I know it's a little niche but I'm curious what everyone else with an outdoor setup is using.

2023.03.27 01:28 DesertLife4 Quality modular in remote SE AZ USA?
Moving to extreme SE AZ and would really appreciate any thoughts on Modular homes available. We’ve done a ton of research (and watch Kerry Tarnow’s channel) but seem to be in the middle of the high end and budget options. We want a simple ranch home with a metal roof, 9ft ceilings, 1200-1800 sq ft., options for tile and quartz counters—basically we want minimal maintenance and prefer long-lasting items. Clayton homes told us they no longer offer those finishes. We’re considering something like Honomobo or SuperMod, but wondering if anyone has recommendations or experience with anything closer to AZ?

2023.03.27 01:12 cgstories The Mother, the Son, and the Bride [Part 5-final]
Part 1,
Part 2,
Part 3,
Part 4 The Gray Rabbit knew how to get to the stairs that’d lead them back to the world above. All they had to do was follow the river to the Great Temple of Roh. They tread the grounds with great caution, stopping every now and then whenever they heard the faint sound of footsteps. The Spade guards roamed the forest. And when Hana spotted a pair of diamond-shaped red eyes peering from the darkness, she'd dart behind a tree and the Gray Rabbit in a bush, and there they’d wait, languishing in intense anxiety and holding their breaths until the red eyes retreated into the darkness and the metallic footsteps faded.
The closer they got to the temple, the narrower the river became. The river became a stream then the stream into a brook. The milk curds grew chunkier and more pungent. They were no longer treading on grass dirt. They were trudging through the milk chunks which squished between their toes and caked underneath their toenails.
The Great Temple of Roh wasn’t as lavish and great as the other parts of the estate Hana had imagined. It was a simple hanok with its curved tiled roof accentuated by the uplifted eaves. Upon closer look, however, the temple wasn’t made of wood. As she climbed on the stone steps and touched its walls, a sickening realization struck Hana.
Bones. Piles and piles of bones tightly compacted together, even the roof was made the shoulder blades and pelvic bones, the Gray Rabbit so kindly pointed out with awe and fear. The doors too were constructed of femurs and tibias, and they were stained and encrusted in dried blood.
“Whose bones are these?” asked Hana, recoiling.
“Peons like you and me.”
The temple’s red doors were slightly ajar, and a gnawing feeling told Hana to come closer. She must look inside. A sound inside lured her to the cracked door. She peeked. A few candles lit the room in a soft yellow glow. The room was mostly empty except for an altar; and a row of monstrous faces that lined the walls. Their big black eyes were fixed on the limped and naked figure lying in the center of the room.
When the shivering figure moaned and lifted its head, Hana gasped, realizing who it was and, without thinking, rushed inside.
“No! Don’t go in!” the Gray Rabbit half-whimpered and half-yelled, but Hana ignored him.
“Oh, Minji!” she cried, brushing the woman’s long dark hair aside.
Minji’s glazed eyes stared back at her, and she smiled. “Hana, I’ve been chosen. I’m the bride.”
Hana searched the room for any stitch of clothing. Frustrated, she went back to Minji, took hold of her arms and urged her to get up.
“We have to get out of here,” she said, desperately. “We’re in danger!”
“Us? In danger? No, no… I’m safe. We’re safe. I’m okay.”
“You’re going to die if you stay here! The Mother is going to kill you!”
“That’s a stupid thing to say! She’s not going to kill me. She said she’s going to bless me.”
“Please, Minji,” Hana’s voice cracked, and she started to cry. “We need to get out of here. I’m telling you that you’re going to die!”
Minji pulled away. “I can’t leave. I’m so happy, Hana!” she exclaimed, deliriously with eyes shut and shaking her head as if in a feverish dream.
“Please, come with me. Let’s go home.”
“I can’t do that. I’ve been chosen. Don’t you know? I’m the bride! I’m the bride!”
Heartbroken, Hana gawked in disbelief. “What did they do to you?”
Minji shoved Hana away and started to convulse. Her legs and arms began to twist. Jaws clenched. Eyes bugged out. She let out an agonizing scream.
“I’M THE BRIDE! THE BRIDE! THE BRIDE! THE BRIDE!”
At the sound of the red doors creaking open, Hana rushed into a dark corner and clasped a hand over her mouth, steadying her breathing.
Hyun-jeong, now having returned to human form, walked in with a golden seat cushion, and she ceremoniously placed it beside Minji, who had begun to convulse and groan and pant on the floor. Then, three more Court Ladies entered. One went to light more candles on the altar. Another stood by the altar with a white folded cloth in her hands. The third dragged something behind her. Long vines that grew out of her fingers were roped around the whimpering and trembling Gray Rabbit.
Clutching onto the arm of Jeong-wook, the Mother stepped into the temple. She was wrapped in bandages, and her face was obscured behind a veil. Fragile and easily tired, she was brought to the golden cushion, leaning on her son more for support.
“I’ve never thought I’d see this day,” she said, her voice quivering from joy. “I will shed this body and rise anew.” She reached out her gnarled hand and stroked Minji’s head.
Jeong-wook smiled. “And we’ve a body for you, Eomma.”
With a glance and a nod from him, the court ladies morphed into their monstrous form. Before a scream left Hana’s throat, a swift, wet breeze swept past her, spraying her cheek with mist. With a trembling hand, she wiped her cheek. Her heart resonated through her ears like a jackhammer as it pounded violently against her chest.
The smell of blood was heavy in the air. She did not need to look to know that the Gray Rabbit’s blood now coated her fingers. From the corner of her eye, she saw the beasts atop her companion in captivity, ripping him apart from limb to limb. His lifeless head rolled and stopped at her feet. A long fleshy vine snatched it up and cracked the cranium open. The court ladies fed the bloody bits and pieces of the Gray Rabbit to the demonic faces in the walls.
The faces’ lower jaws split open into thick, strong mandibles with jagged teeth. What came whipping out of the mouths were long, black forked tongues. Using their tongues, they feasted upon bits of brain and licked the bones clean. They let out a shrill whine as loud as a choir of hellish cicadas, further tearing apart the very fabric of Hana’s reality.
As she came to terms with the possibility, nay inevitability, that this could be her gruesome end, a small voice in her head urged her to press onward.
“Save yourself!” It screamed.
A surge of adrenaline coursed through her body. Her heart pounded relentlessly in her chest. She made a mad dash to the doors dodging the court ladies’ vines as they lashed at her. The threshold was within reach, but a great force violently pulled her back into the wall. The faces held her in place, digging their teeth into arms and calves.
“Wonderful!” Jeong-wook exclaimed with a mischievous grin. “We’ve another witness for the ritual.”
*****
Love was all that Hana craved. She was loved by her family. She was respected and admired by her math students. Though this had warmly touched her heart, she had also longed to be loved in a much more intimate way. She had believed she had found this with Jeong-wook. He was her first. The one and only who had ever seen and touched her in the most intimate way. Never had she ever felt so exposed and vulnerable during their time together.
Now, those memories sickened her. Bile started to rise in her throat as she watched him undress the Mother. Underneath was skin thin as wet paper glistening from popped abscesses and peppered with pus-filled blisters. Her arms and legs were bent and warped like a featherless bird. Jeong-wook removed the bandages with extreme caution for the slightest misstep could rip a strip of skin and cause the Mother unimaginable agony.
The ritual began.
Jeong-wook kneeled beside the matriarch. He had a dagger in his hands. With one knowing look from the Mother, he struck her in the heart. Wailing, she slumped onto her side, life fading as blood pooled around her. From her wide opened mouth, out climbed an oily creature resembling a black-haired woman. Its face was long and gaunt, and its eyes were hollow. It moaned and writhed across the floor towards Minji. She lay in a deep trance, blissfully unaware of the creature clawing at her legs, pulling itself up to sit on her chest.
“Minji, wake up! Minji!” Hana screamed, though knowing the efforts to snap her friend awake were futile. She tried to wiggle out of the faces’ biting grip. But that only forced them to dig their teeth deeper. Tears flowed down her cheeks from the flashing pain.
Jeong-wook strode over to her and wiped them away with his fingers. Hana recoiled.
“There’s nothing to worry about, love,” he said, smirking. “My dear eomma is giving Minji the most wonderful gift of all: her essence. She will be my perfect bride.”
He grabbed her head and pried her eyes open. She watched in horror as the creature forced itself into Minji’s mouth. Convulsing, Minji started to rise into the air. She thrashed about so violently, her body contorted in odd angles to the point of snapping at the joints. Hand in hand, the court ladies circled her, humming in unison an eerie yet soothing tune which seemed to have a calming effect on Minji.
The fit stopped, and she dropped to the floor with a loud thud. Then, hushed silence.
“Jeong-wook…” a soft voice said, breathlessly.
Hearing his name, Jeong-wook rushed to Minji’s side and tenderly brushed aside the strands of hair from her sweaty face.
“Is it you?” he asked.
She straightened herself out on the golden cushion. Without saying anything, she caressed his face and guided his mouth to her breasts. Jeong-wook crawled into her lap, shrinking once again into an infant, and latched onto the nipple. The baby suckled and slurped. He gurgled and cried happily, milk spilling out of his pink lips. The Mother wiped the mess with her thumb.
Much to her surprise, the other breast, too, started to gush out the white creamy liquid, soaking the Mother and the Son. It flowed onto the floor, spreading throughout the room, and over the threshold, renewing the stagnant and spoiled river of milk in the forest. A honey aroma wafted in the air.
The court ladies wept in joy. It had been too long since they had such fresh milk. Their jaws split open like a blooming flower, whipping out their long tongues. They fell to their hands and knees and lapped up the overflowing cream.
The faces on the wall opened their mouths, and Hana collapsed. She didn’t move. Too weak. Too much pain. She lay there, half-drowning. She tasted the milk’s freshness slightly tainted with her blood.
The Gray Rabbit was right, she thought. It tasted like mad honey.
*****
“Aich! I just don’t understand,” said Grandmother, slicing a roll of kimbap with frustrated haste. “Why did you break up with Jeong-wook? Now, I heard he’s engaged to someone else. That could’ve been you!”
Hana’s mother tutted at the older woman. “Oh, let her be!” But as she glanced curiously at her daughter, she said, “Though I’m curious as well.”
Failing to conceal their eavesdropping, the few customers at the restaurant shot curious glances at Hana. She paid them no mind; she was too busy helping her mother refill the small tubs of kimchi and yellow pickled radish at the self-serve table.
Hana shrugged. “It just didn’t work out, that’s all.”
Mom shook her head and sighed. “That’s too bad. He came from a good family.”
“Good stock! Oh, you’re going to regret it one day, Hana,” Grandmother added.
Fighting the urge to scream the truth, Hana bit her lip and said nothing. She was quite aware of all the pitiful and disbelieving looks she’d gotten after returning from the trip months ago. She knew what they thought of her:
Oh, what a stupid girl! What was she thinking? Now she’s like old milk. Too spoiled for the marriage market. Despite what those people thought, she was content with what she had. She was glad just to breathe. All that mattered now was living in the present.
True love...that was a fairy tale she’d abandoned a while ago. She didn’t think much of it nowadays. And she couldn’t tell them the truth. Not that they would believe her anyway. The police certainly didn’t when she had run to them, barefoot and with clothes drenched in sweat and milk.
She had told them about how she’d been kidnapped; the lizard-like humanoid creatures that roamed the Roh estate; and the Mother and the underworld and the milk. After she had run out of breath, the officers gawked at her and then they laughed.
“You said that they hurt you? But you don’t look like you’re hurt,” one of them said.
Hana didn’t know what to say. The Mother’s milk had healed the deep bite marks on her arms and legs. She was allowed to leave the Roh estate. The spade guards had dragged her out of the underworld, and a different chauffeur drove her out of the estate and dumped her on the freeway. Though she didn’t leave the house without an unsettling warning from the Mother's favorite court lady.
Reverted to her human form, Hyun-jeong with her usual dead-eyed smile, said, “Be grateful the Mother spared your life. And remember, our eyes and ears are everywhere; always watching, always listening.”
Hana had to be careful. Her words must be carefully chosen. She knew that
they were listening. And they could be anyone. Perhaps, they were already sitting at the restaurant. It was a daily reminder for her not to speak of what had happened. They had even sent her a newspaper clipping of Yoo-jin, who had gone missing several days ago. Then the following day, she received a polaroid photograph of herself taken from across the street while leaving her math academy.
“But tell me, really,” her mother pleaded, shaking Hana out of her thoughts. “You know you can tell me anything.”
“Tell you what?”
“Why did you end the relationship?”
“He wasn’t who I thought he was. He was simply not the
one." submitted by

Q: When will [insert game name here] be cracked?
A: STOP! CrackWatch members are not psychic. Games get cracked by completely ANONYMOUS SCENE GROUPS who don't disclose their progress or plans to the general public so NO ONE knows WHEN and IF a certain game will be cracked.
Q: What are all these NFO thingies? Where do I download?
A: NFOs are text files included with game releases which contain information about the releases. CrackWatch only informs which games have been cracked. To download look for the releases on CS.RIN.RU's forum or torrent websites. Useful websites can be found in The Beginners Guide or PiratedGames's Mega Thread.
Q: WTF is Denuvo?
A: Denuvo is a Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology used to protect games from being cracked. Games that have Denuvo are harder to crack and usually take much longer. See Pinned Post for a list of Denuvo games.
Q: An update is out, but it includes the base game as well! Can I only download the update without redownloading the entire game?

2023.03.27 00:47 kchaskell My Battle with Squatters
I’m writing this in hopes of helping someone in the future who reads this (even if it’s just 1 person), as this is THE worst real estate experiences I’ve ever dealt with & hoping the greater community can learn from my mistakes.
Back in October of 2022, I purchased a MFH in Central Valley CA, and it was a brand new build (no tenants placed). My dad was in the area doing some work, passed the property, and the seller happened to be on site at that time. My dad introduced himself and passed the seller’s contact details right on to me. I was ecstatic - I had been trying to purchase another investment property for a year with no luck given the insane market, and I thought for the first time luck was on my side.
I invest in the Central Valley, but this property was an entirely new region of the valley I haven’t ventured in nor done any research on. I was very eager with the opportunity in front of me and thought I’d get it now and figure everything else out later. My ego got the best of me, and I didn't do any major analysis (besides $$$) and thought this would be a breeze of an investment . Major mistake.
I submitted an offer and it was immediately accepted. Once we were in escrow, the seller allowed us to hire a Property Management company to come in to take pictures & begin listing the property for tenants. After about a month of listing the property and no hits, the PM group & I agreed to amicably go our separate ways.
In November of 2022, I hired a new PM group who were extremely confident they could fill the units no problems. Month after month, they couldn’t get any hits, but still they assured me they would get it filled. I persistently expressed my concern about vandalism & squatters, and told them my priority is just to get people in there. The PM group insisted on keeping the price where it was at, and when they would finally agree to price reductions it would be in very small increments. They also told me they were doing regular bi weekly checks on the property since it was vacant, but I later found out that there were 6+ foot high weeds growing in the front yard that they somehow never thought to let me know about (side note: I only found out about the weeds because I got a letter from the City, warning me that I would get fined if I don't take care of it).
Fast forward to March 2022: no tenants for 5 months. A 3 unit building, and they couldn’t even get 1 tenant in there. I get a call from my PM - the brand new property has been completely looted, and we have squatters. They took EVERYTHING: granite countertop, cabinets sinks, toilet, garbage disposal, dishwasher, you name it they took it. I’ve been battling these squatters for several weeks now, and no matter what security measures I add to the property (panel windows & windows, metal guards on windows & doors) they keep getting inside.
The local police department refuses to come out for any of these issues. Every time we kick out the squatters, they come back a day or two later. I’ve been battling with them for 2+ weeks now and each time they come back the destroy some thing else (electrical boxes, solar panels, etc). I'll send contractors on site to give me a quote on repairs, and there's the squatters sitting right in my living room. As it stands, we are still battling these squatters & as of today I found out that they somehow have accessed the property through my roof. No end in sight...
Lessons learned:
1 - KNOW YOUR MARKET. I went in blind into this investment, and let my ego get in the way of smart thinking. I never visited the property myself (I want to start investing out of state and thought this would be a good first step), and that combined with my lack of market knowledge meant I truly had no idea what I was signing up for
2 - If you’re buying a new build, HAVE AN ORGANIZED TENANT STRATEGY. My other investments already had tenants in them, but I didn’t think it would be too difficult to find tenants. Having a better strategy and bringing that strategy to the PM could have avoided this situation all together
3 - GET REGULAR UPDATES ON YOUR PROPERTY FROM YOUR PM. With the property sitting vacant for months, I should’ve known to ask for pictures on a regular basis to make sure the property was okay. Had I done that, I would’ve seen the 6 foot high weeds completely overgrown in my garden that my PM company said nothing to me about & was the biggest green light for any squatter that no one lived there.
4 - DO NOT LET EGO GET IN THE WAY OF LOGICAL THINKING & PROCESS. As explained in the story, this is exactly why I’m in the position I am.
5 - HOLD YOUR PM ACCOUNTABLE. Do not let them control you, you control them.
As mentioned, I’m still in the process of battling these squatters. Getting no help from local police department makes this task an extremely steep uphill battle. But I’m hoping sharing this story prevents this from happening to someone in the future.

2023.03.27 00:01 GrimTurtle666 Sennheiser HD560s vs BeyerDynamic DT990 Pro (250ohm)
I've been going through a roulette of headphones since about November, and I think I've settled down to these two, and this will be a review/impressions/comparison of these two headphones, as they fill similar niches and it can be a bit hard to find a good all-in-one comparison - so this is an attempt to do just that.
Some background on me: I'm a guitarist (not pro or anything, just for fun), gamer, and long time music lover. There's music going through my brain in someway 8+ hours daily. I listen to genres of all kinds, but most recently it's been a lot of indie rock/folk/pop, hip hop, punk rock/emo rock, singer-songwriter.
Headphones/IEMs I've tested before in no particular order: Senn 598SR, DT 770 250ohm, Sundara, Salnotes Zero, Senn 58X Jubilee, IKKO OH10, Airpod Pro 2, DT990 250ohm, Senn HD560s, and a bunch of consumer stuff like Sony, Bose, Beats, and Skullcandy in my teen years. Currently in my possession: DT 770, Salnotes Zero (with spinfit tips), OH10 (trying to sell), Airpod pro 2, DT990, and 560s.
Here are the categories I'll be breaking this into: Build & Comfort, Bass, Mids, Treble, Detail, Dynamics, Instrument Separation, Soundstage and Imaging, and Final Verdict.
Both headphones were purchased on Amazon with the intention of sending one back. After tax the 990's were about $170, 560s about $160. Both were tested on both an iPhone 13 with Apple Dongle, and a Windows 11 PC with a Topping DX3 Pro+ (I'm considering a side grade to a FiiO K7, let me know your thoughts on this in the comments).
___
Build & Comfort
HD560s - All light, seemingly sturdy plastic, I think metal grills over the back of the earcup. The metal grill interestingly has rolled up edges where it meets the plastic housing, not entirely sure why it's like this, perhaps it does something to make the sound more 3d? Comfort on these is like coming home since I used the 598's for 4 years or so. Clamp is tight but not painful for me as someone with a bit of a larger head (I have the adjustment sliders clicked down 7 clicks I think). Pads are soft and breathable, headband is basically unnoticeable which is what I like in headband. My ears touch nothing inside the cup when placed properly. Sometimes my left ear touches the little triangle protrusion inside the cup, but I can move it around to where it's not touching. I have the 2023 revision so it's the shorter, straight cable. It's fine, not microphonic, doesn't kink up like the goddamn awful Sundara bullshit cable (it haunts me).
DT990 - Very similar to the 560s however the 990 certainly feels more professional. The only metal in the build afaik are the metal yokes that hold the earcups. Nice leather headband that's easily replaceable, non-detachable coiled cable (I love coiled cables but wish it were detachable), nice and big earcups with soft fluffy pads not unlike the 560s. My gripe with this design, however, is that sometimes my left ear touches the driver dampening on the inside of the earcup and I noticed my ears get noticeably warmer than the 560s after a few minutes. Not enough to be uncomfortable, but enough to notice. Either of these headphones you could throw at a wall and they'd probably be fine.
___
Bass
HD560s - the bass is fantastic. It's extremely linear and extends very deep. I tested the bass with tracks like Go Flex by Post Malone, XO TOUR LIFE by Lil Uzi Vert, and Black & White by Juice WRLD, as well with the tank battle scene in All Quiet On The Western Front (from when the officer tells the soldiers to march right up to when it cuts back to the negotiators at about the midpoint) but I'll touch more up on the movie testing with soundstage and dynamics. The bass quantity here isn't boosted at all. The 560s is an extremely balanced headphone with a nearly dead-flat tuning, with just a little extra spice in the treble. I'm not sure of the proper terms, but the bass on the 560s is very textured, impactful, and full. It doesn't overpower anything else in the mix. It's lackluster in some hip-hop, but perfect for everything else (except probably EDM).
DT990 - the bass here is a little deceptive. It sounds a little more bassy than the 560s due to a pleasing mid-bass bump but it doesn't feel as full-sounding, textured, or as deep as the 560s. The bass is very one-note, to my ears. Bass is hard to judge on this headphone, because if you look at the graphs you'd be inclined to say that the 990s should have far greater quantity of bass given the big hump around 150hz, but because the treble is very boosted in the 990s (more on that later) it actually gives an impression of being bass light. The better balance of the 560s makes it sound more bassy and impactful. However, with EQ, I think the 990 can actually become bassier as long as you listen at low volumes (the 990 is prone to distortion). For example, a harman bass shelf is easily achievable with the 990. It's also achievable on the 560s, but the bass doesn't change a whole lot with boosts at 20hz. But imo it doesn't need to change that much unless you're listening to like hip hop, in which case I feel both can offer satisfactory experiences.
___
Mids
HD560s - this shouldn't be a surprise if you've ever heard Sennheisers. The mids are clean, natural, smooth. However, where the 560s differentiates itself from its Sennheiser cousins is that you don't get the same I am in the microphone effect which you may or may not like. I like the change a lot, as it helps create a sense of space. The mids are supremely natural, neutral, detailed, voices are just a delight, but these headphones allows the vocals to be moved around space. Vocals aren't always center forward right in your head - if the track has the vocals pushed further back, you'll hear that. If the surrounding music is supposed to be more powerful than the vocals, these headphones will let that happen.
DT990 - Believe it or not, mids actually sound quite nice and natural on these headphones too, however, when A/B'ing with the 560s you will definitely hear a more thin, off-timbre. The people who say the mids are recessed to hell are exaggerating in my opinion - mids are still clear and present, but slightly thin, a little... lacking, is the best word I can come up with. This shouldn't be surprising since the 990s are V-shaped, but it's an extremely subtle V. Mids are pretty forward too, which can be a little odd given their thinner quality compared to the 560s.
___
Treble
HD560s - so some people consider the 560s a little bright, and they mention the peak around 4k, but honestly these aren't bright to me at all. I think I'm just not sensitive to this area of the treble - peaks at 6k bother me the most I think, and too much energy 10k+ can fatigue my ears more than peaks elsewhere. That said, I find the treble of the 560s to be just about perfect. Great air extension without making cymbals and drums sound unnaturally detailed and loud, electric distorted guitars are fast, energetic, but not piercing, violins and things such as are intricate and detailed. Overall, much like the rest of the tuning, the 560s are detailed, natural, and super linear and well-extended.
DT990s - this is a total love it or hate it. It's no secret that the 990s' treble is peaky and boosted. It gives the sound a large sense of space, a lot of detail is brought forward, it's very bright. You either love the sense of space, loud in your face detail, clear like an over-sharpened photograph (if you're familiar with lightroom, this is the headphone equivalent of sharpening a photo JUST until artifacting shows up in foliage)... or you hate it. At first listen, I loved it, coming from daily driving the slightly dark 58X and before that the very dark 598. But as I listened more to tracks I love, I came to realize that there was just way too much air. It sounded artificial after a while. Here's the thing, I don't find these piercing or shrill or unusable. I had a good chuckle at reading one review that said he "yanked the headphones off" immediately after playing something. Maybe it's insufferable if you're listening at 80db+, but I listen around 65-70 when really into it, and 60db is usually my target. At this volume, the treble is boosted, crystal clear, overly so, and extremely airy. You can hear drums pushing air, and it does sound more detailed at a glance compared to the 560s, but as you listen more you realize how artificial it sounds, like the headphones are adding something that's not there. With the 560s, I find it much more balanced where you still get nice air and detail off things like cymbals but they don't dominate the track like it can on the 990s.
___
Detail
HD560s - I already touched a bit on detail in treble since the two are closely linked, so I'll keep this short. The 560s seem less detailed at first, but if you sit and try to critically listen, you'll pick up on things with 560s that you can't with the 990s. For example, the 560s have the most detailed acoustic guitar representation I've heard yet (maybe outclassed by the Sundara). You can hear the pick moving in the air and plucking at the strings. If you've played guitar you'll know what I mean - it's that tiny, quiet plasticky sound of the pick touching the metal string, and it's really something only the guitarist can hear, and these are the only headphones I've tried that can so naturally and accurately recreate that on well-recorded acoustic tracks.
DT990s - in a word, they're overly-detailed. The boosted treble reveals a lot of little sounds that normally would get lost underneath the mids and bass in other headphones, but you can hear them here, such as drumsticks lightly tapping on cymbals. The only issue is that a lot of these details get pushed to the front of the mix and it can be quite over-powering and distracting. But a lot of people love this!
___
Dynamics
HD560s - this is a very important category for me and adds a lot of enjoyment for me. I returned the Sundaras because of comfort issues and lackluster dynamics. These headphones, the 560s, are probably 85-90% of the quality, clarity, balance, and detail of the Sundaras, but far more comfortable and dynamic. I like to test dynamics with Mountains by Hans Zimmer - when the music finally swells in, it really overtakes you, like a wave crashing into you, it's loud and impactful and slams into you. Hearkening back to my mention of All Quiet On The Western Front, this battle scene is fucking scary on these headphones. I'll touch on it more in the soundstage section, but the explosions, gunshot impacts, the screaming and dying and running, each has its own place and the sense of space and volume and impact is astonishing. The explosions are loud, the main character's running and breathing is subtle next to the loud screaming and gunshots... it's a great showing of awesome dynamics.
DT990s - the dynamics here come pretty close to the HD560s, but I feel the sound as a whole lacks the same body and impact compared to the 560s. The same movie scene mentioned before still sounds good, but where the 560s literally made me flinch several times, the 990s did not. They are still very engaging.
___
Instrument Separation
HD560s - my chief complaint with these headphones. I find that some tracks can sound a little overly busy with the 560s and it can sometimes be hard to separate instruments with loud, fast, full band tracks. This might be a decay issue, as it's only on big and fast tracks. Things like Skyrim's soundtracks, you can pick apart the orchestra easily.
DT 990s - they're just superior here. The soundstage can easily be broken up into several little chunks with crystal clear separation. Some people find it unnatural, I like it a lot.
___
Soundstage and Imaging
HD560s - again, very close here. I feel the 990s are slightly wider, but the 560s show more depth. The 560s actually do a great job of creating the illusion of 3D space, and pinpointing sounds in that 3D space is easy. It's not as exactly pinpoint as the 990s, but it does feel more natural, like sounds dispersing through air with a clear source if that makes sense. Going back to that movie scene, you really feel the sounds of gunshots whizzing around, can tell exactly where the explosions are landing, etc.
DT990 - very open and spacious sounding, but not as much depth as the 560s. The imaging here is unlike anything I've heard before. I understand why it's such an easy competitive gaming recommendation - the imaging is unnaturally accurate. Sounds don't really sound like they're coming from sources in open space, rather it's like a thin, clear dot in a spherical plane around your head.
___
Final Verdict
Both of these headphones are honestly excellent and not dramatically different from one another. If you gave these headphones to a regular person who had never really dabbled in audio past consumer earbuds, I'm not sure they could really tell you the difference. The 560s are open, wide, deep, greatly impactful and full sound, super flat tuning with the slightest of slightest of bright tilts, well extended bass, super balanced and natural sound with excellent detail, dynamics, imaging, etc. The 990s are a bit wider in sound, more thin, not so natural, better technicalities for competitive gaming but not so much music or movies. Put it this way: the 560s are listening at a spacious and well-made venue, while the 990s are listening plugged into the studio. And this make sense, given the 560s are marketed as enthusiast HiFi headphones, and the 990s are intended for professional work. I personally prefer the 560s, but use this review as a tool to guide your decision on what you might prefer.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far! Let me know your thoughts on these cans, those like it, ones you like better, etc. I love the friendly discussions in this sub, it's a great joy to talk about this hobby with y'all.

2023.03.26 23:40 tominator_44 Twisted Metal: Black - PS2 review from Electronic Gaming Monthly Issue 145 - August 2001
2023.03.26 23:30 cam-era RV Mobile Antenna Question VHF/UHF on a fiberglass
I've been running my Yaesu FTM300D from my RV, with a standard, small mag-mount antenna onto the hood of the van. It worked "ok, but it's obviously not an ideal location (too low). I also managed to break SMA connector and decided fix everything and the antenna to the roof of the RV (~9ft).
But... There is no metal at all, the entire back is fiberglass. All of it. There is a aluminum Wingard TV mount that I could mount the antenna on for some extra height but I don't know if it would work as a ground plane. Height is an issue, I can't run a big 4ft antenna from the roof, I'd have to mount that on the side.
Of course I could get a small, steel plate and glue it to the roof and then have magnetic mount antenna or "something".
Or, are there VHF/UHF antennas that work well without a ground plane? How is this normally done?

2023.03.26 23:09 ooboogley Does anyone have the original hobart rotary slicer???
| I finally managed to source a vintage hobart rotary slicer like the one pictured above after reading countless reviews of the plastic ones breaking after a couple months of use. My only problem is that the slicing drums are incredibly well worn and missing 2, and I'm wondering if anyone can either give me measurements for the drums on the plastic slicer, the drums on the metal slicer (I'm waiting for mine to ship), or if they can tell me straight up if they are compatible or not. As an aside, I think it's a real shame that so many kitchenaid accessories are no longer made to last like their hobart counterparts, and for that reason all the hobart attachments go for insane markups. I just got an artisan mini for the footprint and DC motor, and almost none of the model-specific attachments are without dozens of 1 star reviews and stories of chipping or breaking or falling apart altogether. submitted by ooboogley to Kitchenaid [link] [comments] |
2023.03.26 23:05 Elllen_Degenerate Lookah Q7 leaking internally? (Plus mini review)
So I bought a Lookah Q7 back in December after being impressed with the one my friend had bought a while earlier. Since I had a rough time finding people's experience with the thing before I bought it, and the leaking is a new problem, I figured I'd put my general experience with it here.
I really enjoy the functionality, it's pretty much perfect for my usage - relatively low temps and smaller inhalations, with daily usage of maybe an eighth to a quarter of a gram of wax/rosin? Once you get the hang of the buttons it's super easy to customize and control your session. I love the quick loadup and low maintenance - isopropyl is rarely needed, dry Q-Tips do the trick between dabs. I brought it to a friend's house the other day and neglected the cleaning for a few loadups, and was able to remove the resulting carbon buildup with ease using (alternating) isopropyl and high heat. The friend who introduced me to it uses it a lot more and still takes a matter of weeks to get to the point of having to open it up for a deep clean. I bought the "special" tie-dye colour and it's just a plastic wrapping; the original metal colours look and feel better, not worth the extra money. I'm also questioning if the tie-dye was from another manufacturing run that didn't go as well as the first, because mine is definitely defective and there isn't enough discussion about the product to know how much of an exception it is. I can't recommend the design/concept enough, but my experience with the actual product itself makes me hesitate to recommend it without a few caveats.
I was a bit concerned about the 30-day warranty, and the few discussions and reviews online made the rig seem pretty finicky. But it was worth it to me to get a rig that I was familiar with and knew I would use, and that part paid off. I went from smoking 4-5 joints a day to almost solely using a 510 pen and the Lookah once I found the right products. I live in Ontario, Canada, and concentrates have absolutely exploded in prevalence in the last two years in both the legal market and the grey, so the number of alternatives to the Q7 are only getting better and more numerous (and more accessible if your rig suddenly dies). I was an early adopter of the PAX Ploom, so I know what it's like to own a clunky prototype while the manufacturer uses its failures to improve. (Then again, PAX also had a 10-year replacement warranty they were happy to honour when I needed it.)
I was glad I'd already resigned myself to the risk when a couple weeks in I noticed a dark colour showing around the edges of one side of the bottom of the bowl. I hadn't been closely inspecting it each time, but I checked it out early on because my rig had jagged bits inside the bowl that would catch on the Q-Tips, and my friend's rig didn't have an issue with that. It looked less coated around the bottom edges than I expected but figured that was just promo photos versus the real thing.
So I cleaned it, made sure to follow the instructions on Lookah's site, and with some close-up pics it was clear it wasn't carbon and the metal was exposed. The quartz had worn down/chipped, maybe it was missing the second layer, or the bowl hadn't gotten entirely coated. I hadn't even used isopropyl at that point.
I emailed the company per the warranty instructions, twice, and never received a reply. By then the 30 days was up, and the retailer (local dispensary, only one who had them) has a hands-off policy on used items. I probably could have made more of a stink, but SAD hit me hard this winter and to be frank I just didn't have the energy. The thing still works, so I'm still using it and waiting for the day it conks out on me.
Which might come sooner and in a more annoying way than I thought, because when I plug the charging cord in, it comes out coated in goopy residue. Careful isopropyl application has kept the contacts just clean enough to get a charge, but who knows how long that will last.
So is there any way to clean or mitigate this? Anything I might be doing wrong for those who have owned one of these for a little longer? Anyone with a Q7 who has had a similar experience or knows enough people with one to assure me mine's an outlier?

2023.03.26 22:30 Raclioheacl 2023 Sportage SX Prestige Roof rack and cross bars
Hey guys, so I have a 2023 sportage SX prestige. Our family takes two beach trips a year and I wanted to get a set of cross bars and a roof rack.
The $500 cross bars on Kia’s website are a bit out of our price range. Yet, the more reasonably priced cross bars on Amazon have concerning reviews like “these bars rattle”.
I understand “you get what you pay for” but if you guys have any recommendations, I’d really appreciate it.

2023.03.26 22:19 Lemforder Does a sunroof make a difference to the handling of a car?
What does everyone think about sunroofs on performance cars? They weigh more than just having a metal roof, which raises the centre of gravity and of course, adds weight. I think the full length 100kg plus panoramic roofs are clearly going to make a difference but what about the standard sunroof/moon roof?
Even with the on paper disadvantages, lots of people still get them, and I can see why because they add light into the car and make the interior feel more spacious.
What are people's thoughts on them for cars that are used both on the road and the track? Is the weight and centre of gravity increase only relevant to Max Verstappen or definitely noticeable by the average driver?
