2023.06.08 12:59 macestar22 What does Article 10 of the 39 Articles of Religion mean?
| (I've added a picture just as a common point of reference) I'm starting to lean more towards the Anglican Communion, but Article 10 is a major road block for me. It seems to be a very Calvinist statement. It sounds like text book Total Depravity. Is that what it is? Calvinism is a deal breaker for me to be frank, so you can understand why I'm trying to make sure I understand everything properly. submitted by macestar22 to Anglicanism [link] [comments] |
2023.06.08 12:55 HKing42 Introducing 1yr old adopted dog to 14yr old resident
Hi all! Looking for some advice to help myself and our dogs. I will preface with a bit of background. When I was about 8 I was attached by a large dog and bitten several times. After that, I was terrified of dogs - would cross the road to avoid any interaction at all, and sometimes would avoid going for a walk on my owns street for fear of free roaming dogs. This all came to an abrupt halt when I met my partner (we've now been together 10 years) who had two dogs - a Newfoundland/Labrador Cross and a LabradoSpringer Spaniel cross, both four years old. I figured that if I wanted to be with my partner I had to be okay with dogs, and he was an angel in introducing me and them at just the right pace. Now, our remaining dog (LabxSpaniel) is my absolute best friend and I wouldn't trade him for the world.
We had been considering another dog for quite some time, and last week our local SPCA called with what seems like a perfect match. About 1 year old, Labrador mix, with a leg injury which prevents him from going on long walks or engaging in much rambunctious play, which for our senior dog is pretty perfect. He has mostly recovered from the injury - requires simple physio exercises every day which he is very good about doing.
We did a dog meet and the SPCA said it was a gold star meet - nobody was too interested in the other, no animosity, just a pretty chill meet. So we decided to go through with the adoption! We brought new doggo home yesterday and did a meet and walk on neutral ground, allowed the new dog to check out our house on leash while senior dog went for a solo walk with me, then introduced them inside the home with new dog on a leash all evening.
Senior dog is now showing some fear and annoyance. While new dog isn't meant to play much, he is still far more playful than our senior dog and was trying to engage yesterday a bit. Senior dog gave a bark and nip to get him to back off, and he did for a moment but then went right back. We separated them, keeping new dog on a leash with us downstairs and senior dog free to go where he chose - he chose to stay upstairs away from us, which is incredibly unusual for him. For sleeping, we put new dog in a crate (with very minimal complaints) in our bedroom, and senior dog for the first time since I've known him chose to sleep on his bed in the living room.
Clearly senior dog is unimpressed and doesn't want to be around the new dog. I also recognize that it has been less than 24 hours and this is not necessarily indicative of how it will go forever. Mostly looking for some advice to make senior dog more comfortable, still feel included and wanted, and to hopefully bring him to a level of tolerance if not friendship with new dog. Also, any tips for helping new dog get the hint that senior dog doesn't want to play, and to calm him down when he is in that playful mood as it can affect his previous injury. Just feeling a teeny bit overwhelmed and apprehensive.

2023.06.08 12:41 AffectionateJump7896 Can builders close the pavement?
Surely some licencing is required, and the council need to approve that it is sensible, necessary and minimized? What is this called, and what is the process?
On my walk to work, there is major commerical development underway, and it has been for at least the five years I've been doing the walk. The pavement on one side has been closed with metal fencing for this time. So you have to cross over a busy 3 lane one way street and go on the other side. Not the end of the world, but most irritating. There are some traffic lights a few hundred years upstream, and it's one way, so it's not too hard to get across if you're able bodied.
Now, there is a second commerical development on the other side of the road. Footway is closed. Both sides are now simply closed and you just have to figure out an alternative walking route (answer +5minutes walking to go around the other side of site number 2). This is +10minutes/day for me and probably tens of thousands of other people.
Not only is the five year and counting closure ridiculous but simply the council should be saying: you can't close the pavement for a non-emergency when the other side is already closed.
Both sites, I think could have left a pedestrian access way if they really wanted. The area is primarily used to store materials and plant for both projects - if there was a really substantial licencing charge they wouldn't be taking the public amenity of the pedestrian route and fencing it off to store e.g. a digger.

2023.06.08 12:37 Matteeaofthewater Fear of slowing down traffic
Hey everyone! I’m a new rider, i really love it and i already feel comfortable driving around, i really find it therapeutic, however i don’t feel like going crazy fast. i always respect the speed limit but whenever i have cars behind they always overtake me and go twice as fast and it makes me feel like i’m slowing everybody down! Example: this morning i was going 60km/h (38ish mph) on a 70km/h (43ish mph) limit road, and i felt like an idiot cause there were a ton of cars behind me! Is it a common thing for new riders to feel this way? I’ve been driving a car for 10 years and i never had this kind of worry

Heat shimmered off the pavement in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. The tiny town nestled between the desert hills of the Southwest felt like a kiln, and Rory Regan was baking. “Remind me again--” He huffed between words, “--why are we walking?”
“If Destruction wanted to be found, the Lords of Chaos would’ve done it already. If Destruction is here, he’d pick up on a teleport before we stepped through and I don’t want us burning our only lead.” Traci said, adjusting her black sunhat to wipe beads of sweat from her forehead.
“It could be worse.” Sherry said with an encouraging smile. “It’s a dry heat.”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I miss Gotham.” Rory looked around at the rest of the Shadowpact for a similar discomfort. His sweat was making the rags cling to his skin. “Jim. How are you not sweating? You must be wearing fifty pounds of metal.”
Jim shrugged. “Magic.”
“Of course.” Rory groaned. “Ruin?”
Ruin quirked an eyebrow and planted their feet. They’d been walking around in their signature trench coat for miles and not lost the spring in their step. They curiously pulled a finger along their forearm. “I don’t think I sweat.”
“And I guess you have some magical charm that makes you resistant to heat, Traci?”
“Yeah. It’s called being raised in Nevada.” She snorted. “Hey, Ruin. We need to keep--” Her gaze drifted up to the quaint wooden building they’d chosen to stop. A woodburnt sign hanging above the door read ‘Tumbleweed Saloon & Inn.’ She smiled. “Rory, good news. We’re here.”
Sherry looked over the saloon. Where the others had picked up sand and sweat on the long trek over, she didn’t have a hair out of place. Sherry looked like she’d stepped out of an advertisement. Her only sign of wear was the suspicion sitting behind her eyes. “You really think Destruction is here?”
“I’m not getting my hopes up.” Traci said. “The Lords of Chaos only felt a twinge, but it’s all we’ve got.”
Rory shot through the swinging saloon doors with a speed he’d lost 10 miles earlier. Ruin was just behind him, their pure black eyes pulling in every detail. Half of the space was devoted to racks and shelves of Old West merchandise; cheap hats, plastic guns, and sheriff badges. The other side of the establishment was a small bar and a few tables. The bartender wiped the bored expression from his face as the Shadowpact entered.
“We’re in a real Wild West saloon!” Ruin hurried into the merchandise section.
“Welcome to the Tumbleweed Saloon. What brings you folks into town?” The bartender said.
“I’m looking for a guy, big-looking, probably. Have you seen anyone like that? He might’ve broken something.” Traci said. She wished she had more to go off.
“We get a lot of tourists.” The man raised an eyebrow. “Wait, are you from the Justice Legion? When are you going to send those people from other universes back home? Did you catch the guy responsible yet?”
Traci exhaled sharply. “We’re here about his brother, actually.”
The clatter of hoofbeats on asphalt clicked outside, followed by the heavy footfalls of someone dropping from a horse.
“Do you get many riders out here?” Jim asked. The bartender shook his head and Jim moved a hand to his sword’s pommel. The rider walked to the saloon door. The figure was in shining white leather boots and pants to match. The peak of a stetson of the same color poked out above the saloon doors.
“I know where to find the man you’re looking for.” The doors swung open to reveal the sheet-pale face of White Stag. The only spot of color was a turquoise bolo tie around his neck and the gold-inlay guard of the rapier at his side. His opaque glasses reflected the light. Jim leapt to his feet and pulled the Sword of Night from its sheath with a metallic shtang. White Stag just raised his hands apprehensively. “While you’ve correctly surmised I am interested a rematch, Jim, I think I’d better explain myself first.”
Jim glanced at Traci, who gave him a nod. Jim lowered his sword but kept it unsheathed. “Talk.” Jim spat.
White Stag reached into his buttoned vest and pulled a cigar, then a lighter. He flicked a few times, then held the flame to the cigar’s tip. Once lit, White Stag took a deep drag and blew a ring of smoke in front of his face. “I am here for a duel with the Destroyer of Myrrha.”
"Myrrha's not destroyed!" Jim gripped the handle of the Sword of Night. "I've been locked off from it. I will find a way back!"
"No.” White Stag walked over to the bar and took a seat. He didn’t bother turning around to address Jim. “No, it's not been destroyed yet. But it's Destruction you're after, and you'll find the Endless on the road you take to meet them. Miss Witch would know about that. How well do you sleep at night, Traci?"
The answer was an uncomfortable silence. “How do we know you’re telling the truth?” Rory said.
“I knew to come here, didn’t I?”
“So after I defeat you in this duel, you’ll tell us where to find Destruction?” Jim said.
White Stag gave a thin-lipped smile. “After the duel, I’ll tell you where he is.”
“You tricked us last time. What’s the trick this time?” Jim said.
“The trick? I’m faster than you, Jim. That’s all I need to win. Blades at dawn, at the old train tracks.”
“At dawn?” Jim shook his head. “We fight now. We don’t have time to waste.”
“Where’s your flair for the dramatic, Jim? Let’s let the tension build for a few hours more. It’s not like you’re in a position to dictate terms.” White Stag stood from the bar.
“I don’t know who you are.” Sherry said. “But this sounds like a big misunderstanding. We’re trying to help people.”
“Who I am? I’m the good guy, Sheridan. And you’re the latest person to sign onto the Shadowpact, which must mean you’re trying to help yourself.” White Stag looked at Jim. “Blades. Dawn. Don’t be late.” He walked through the saloon doors and saddled up his horse while the Shadowpact watched in silence.
He’d only been gone a few seconds when Rory said. “Why not fight him now? Force him to tell us what he knows.”
Jim shook his head. “We need to play his games. He knows more than he’s letting on. And he knows about Myrrha.” A hint of desperation crept into his voice. “He could be holding all of Myrrha hostage, for all we know.”
“Myrrha? I’m unfamiliar with this realm.” Sherry said.
Jim rolled his shoulders back, staring down at the ground. “When I was twelve, I went into the back room of a record store and ended up in a medieval world full of adventure and magic. Years later, I mastered the Sword of Night and started using it to move between realities. Last year, I went to sleep in Myrrha and woke up on Earth. I haven’t been able to return there since. I hate to think what could have happened to it without its protector.”
The display racks rattled and Rory raised his fists on instinct. The rags crawled along his body, ready to strike. It was Ruin rushing out of the merchandise section, covered in cowboy gear. A pair of embossed brown leather boots replaced their usual black strap-ups. They wore a ten-gallon hat and held a cheap revolver toy in each hand. “This town ain’t big enough for the six of us!” They said in their best kitsch Western accent.
A hard glance from Jim sent Ruin withdrawing back into the gift shop, holstering their ‘weapons’. Traci spoke quietly. “Why don’t I get us all rooms for tonight. We can rest and be refreshed in the morning.” She looked up at the bartender. He was still trembling from the standoff moments ago. “Six rooms, please.”
A few hours later, Traci was doomscrolling the front page of KordConnect for articles on the Reawakening. A knock at the door pulled her out of it. “Be right there, just-- uh-- meditating!” She hopped off her bed and walked to the door.
“It’s Rory!”
Traci opened the door. He was uncostumed. His sympathetic face was incongruous with the harsh features of the suit of rags. “Hey, Traci. Can I come in?”
“What’s up?” She stood aside and Rory sat on the bed. “It seemed like what White Stag said affected you.”
“That’s what you’re here for? You don’t have to worry about someone hurting my feelings.” She laughed.
Rory relaxed his posture. “Well, I’m glad, but it’s okay if you’re hurting. That… stuff with Dream. You did what you had to. I miss John too.”
Traci’s grin drooped and she let herself fall back onto the bed. She paused, then: “Dream made me an offer. Become his warlock, like Darhk was.”
“His-- his warlock? Like work for him? What are you going to say?”
“I turned him down. There’s always, always some all-powerful asshole fucking with me and my friends. HIVE, Neron, Darhk, Dream. Dream’s just as responsible for what John… became. And if becoming Dream’s warlock means I end up like Damien Darhk, then I just-- ugh!” She grunted, trailing off.
“But, knowing you, you’re wondering if you could beat the Heavenly Host if you said yes.”
“Not just them.” Traci sat up. “Bring Jim to Myrrha. Fix the Reawakening. Actually set up some magical safety nets that I haven’t jury-rigged from lamb’s spit and a spell I found on Quora. Y’know, all of it.”
Rory turned to her and put his hand on her shoulder. “Traci, you’re the best spellcaster I’ve ever met. You literally saved the universe and you’re still doing more. We’re going to win, and we’re going to do it with or without Dream, OK?”
A cool morning held out against the stinging New Mexico heat, the sun not yet peaked over the hills surrounding Truth or Consequences. Jim walked at the head of the Shadowpact. He saw White Stag and his horse for a mile on the approach. It was a huge thing, its coat the same brilliant white sheen as the rest of Stag’s possessions. It’d been hitched up to a railway spike.
Ruin remained in their store-bought cowboy ensemble. The group were all still a minute’s walk from White Stag when Ruin called out, “Why are you doing this?” They hurried forward, breaking into a jog past the group, despite Jim’s protests.
Traci readied a spell, just in case. “You said you’re the good guy. Jim’s not perfect, but he’s good too. You don’t have to fight.” Ruin looked different that morning in a way that was hard to place. Their silhouette was fuzzy. At a glance, they looked vague and undefined, as though it took a few seconds for them to render in view. It didn’t seem to slow them down any, though at times they seemed to wince to themself
White Stag shook his head. “There comes a time in every man’s life when he has to fight.” His voice took on a bit of twang at odds with his usual refined accent.
“But why Nightmaster?”
“Every day Jim wakes up in this world, he hates it a little more. He hates the toil, the uncertainty. Mostly, he hates that here, he’s not the best. He’s a middling swordsman and a below average hero on Earth.”
Jim said nothing, staring daggers.
“And that’s why I want my duel. You don’t belong in these parts, Jim.”
“You’re a madman.” Jim said. “Playing with the lives of innocents in these stupid games.” He approached, grinding his feet into the gravel to keep from lashing out in rage.
“Playing?” White Stag’s faux accent dropped. “‘Well, I suppose I am having a great deal of fun.” A sliver of sunrise poked over the horizon. In a flash that just caught the few drops of light to trickle onto the tracks, White Stag pulled his rapier. It sliced across Nightmaster’s armor like tissue paper, leaving a long red cut across his chest. Jim grunted and drew his sword.
Sherry took a step forward, but Jim held his hand out to stop her “No!” Jim said. “If you intervene, he won’t give us what we need.”
“Old dogs can learn new tricks, it seems.” White Stag lunged, but this time his blade was batted away by the Sword of Night.
Jim went for a riposte. White Stag sideswiped and the heavy broadsword cut through the air, thunking against the railway tracks. White Stag retaliated, raking another slash across Jim’s side. Jim fell to a knee.
“Yield.” White Stag said. He didn’t get an answer. “I think your man is finished.” He turned to the rest of the Shadowpact, giving Jim the opening to grab a handful of gravel and throw it in White Stag’s face. Stag recoiled and Jim forced himself up using his sword, using the momentum to swing it into White Stag’s flank. It only made the lightest of contact, but the pale red of blood spreading through White Stag’s vest was enough to bring Jim satisfaction.
Jim followed up with another attack, which White Stag evaded. This time, Jim sensed anger behind those opaque spectacles. White Stag parried Jim’s next attack. The second his opponent was off balance, White Stag whipped his rapier at Jim’s wrist. He winced in pain. Another well-placed kick from Stag and the sword went clattering to the side. Jim reached after it, in vain.
“Yield.” White Stag said, this time his voice firmer. Sherry had seen enough battles to see the tremor in Jim’s shoulders, to know what he was going to try next. She added to White Stag, “Yield, Jim. We’ll find another way.”
“I… yield.” Jim said with a bassy, hateful tone.
In an instant, White Stag withdrew his rapier and stepped back. “I wish I could say ‘well fought’, Jim.” White Stag brushed the gravel dust away and ignored his wound. “But I did say I’d tell you where to find Destruction.”
“But I lost.” Jim said, confused.
“Yes, you did. And you continue to lose every day you spend away from Myrrha, right?”
Jim stared at the ground, in a haze.
“You’ll find Destruction at Coast City.”
“Coast City? What would he be doing there?” Rory asked.
White Stag shrugged. “Paying his respects? In any case, I think this concludes our time together for now. I look forward to our next meeting, Jim.” He walked away from the Shadowpact, towards the vast empty desert.
“I don’t think so.” Sherry said. “Not until you answer whatever questions Jim has about Myrrha.”
“I don’t think that would benefit anyone, do you? A nice try at reconciliation, angel. Truly, living up to your occupation.” Sherry charged forward, prepared to take the brunt of any attack White Stag was capable of and tackle him to the ground. However, wInstead, when he swiped his sword it did not clash with Sherry; instead, a portal opened in the air.a quick swipe tore open a portal in the air, White Stag stepped through, and it vanished in an instant. Sherry ran straight past her target.
“His sword can open portals too?” Rory said.
Ruin ignored him and went to Jim’s side, helping him onto his feet. ”C’mon, partner.” Jim winced, taking their hand and slowly rising.
“We need to keep moving. I can bind that move, but there’s no telling how long Destruction will stay in one place. Next stop: Coast City.” Traci said.

2023.06.08 12:13 KingofSpain0 Joshua 2
Joshua 2:1-24
Then Joshua son of Nun secretly sent two spies from Shittim. “Go, look over the land,” he said, “especially Jericho.” So they went and entered the house of a prostitute named Rahab and stayed there.
2 The king of Jericho was told, “Look, some of the Israelites have come here tonight to spy out the land.” 3 So the king of Jericho sent this message to Rahab: “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, because they have come to spy out the whole land.”
4 But the woman had taken the two men and hidden them. She said, “Yes, the men came to me, but I did not know where they had come from. 5 At dusk, when it was time to close the city gate, they left. I don’t know which way they went. Go after them quickly. You may catch up with them.” 6 (But she had taken them up to the roof and hidden them under the stalks of flax she had laid out on the roof.) 7 So the men set out in pursuit of the spies on the road that leads to the fords of the Jordan, and as soon as the pursuers had gone out, the gate was shut.
8 Before the spies lay down for the night, she went up on the roof 9 and said to them, “I know that the Lord has given you this land and that a great fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who live in this country are melting in fear because of you. 10 We have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two kings of the Amorites east of the Jordan, whom you completely destroyed. 11 When we heard of it, our hearts melted in fear and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the Lord your God is God in heaven above and on the earth below.
12 “Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign 13 that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.”
14 “Our lives for your lives!” the men assured her. “If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.”
15 So she let them down by a rope through the window, for the house she lived in was part of the city wall. 16 She said to them, “Go to the hills so the pursuers will not find you. Hide yourselves there three days until they return, and then go on your way.”
17 Now the men had said to her, “This oath you made us swear will not be binding on us 18 unless, when we enter the land, you have tied this scarlet cord in the window through which you let us down, and unless you have brought your father and mother, your brothers and all your family into your house. 19 If any of them go outside your house into the street, their blood will be on their own heads; we will not be responsible. As for those who are in the house with you, their blood will be on our head if a hand is laid on them. 20 But if you tell what we are doing, we will be released from the oath you made us swear.”
21 “Agreed,” she replied. “Let it be as you say.”
So she sent them away, and they departed. And she tied the scarlet cord in the window.
22 When they left, they went into the hills and stayed there three days, until the pursuers had searched all along the road and returned without finding them. 23 Then the two men started back. They went down out of the hills, forded the river and came to Joshua son of Nun and told him everything that had happened to them. 24 They said to Joshua, “The Lord has surely given the whole land into our hands; all the people are melting in fear because of us.”

2023.06.08 12:09 Flatworm-Glittering Twistex and El Reno’s F5 Tornado
| Here’s Dan Robertsons video as he raced down Reuters road trying to escape the El Reno F5 tornado. The tornado had been heading northeast and Reuters was a safer choice at the time as it heads west. Twistex is close behind him. But the tornado suddenly changed directions, sped up, and headed west, catching Dan and Twistex by surprise. Dan has removed the recording of Twistex from his video out of respect for the families, but I believe you can still see them in the video. When you’re watching the video you will see a small video open up in the bottom right corner of the screen from minute markers 10:41 to 10:44. This video was captured by Dan’s camera mounted on the drivers side of his vehicle. You see Dan getting equipment out of his catruck. But because the road has a curve in it you also catch a glimpse of headlights from the car behind him. The headlights are there briefly and then suddenly disappears. I believe that this is Twistex, as they were the only car behind Dan. Also, when Dan is heading south and just before he turns left on Reuters rd you see the headlights of another car that is approaching Reuters road as well. The car is coming from the south and heading north. I believe that this is also Twistex as they’re approaching Reuters rd. They would have turned to the right about 20 seconds behind Dan. But I’m not positive in what direction Twistex approached Reuters rd from. Maybe if someone knows they could reply and let us know. This was such a tragedy as Twistex was so close to reaching safety. But I’m grateful that Dan didn’t know at the time that it was Twistex behind him, nor what had happened to them. There would’ve been nothing he could do, and that would have been harder for him to cope with. Whether you agree or disagree with me please feel free to respond here or on my post on Dan’s video, as I’m curious if others also think it’s Twistex I see in the video. I’m not trying to be insensitive to anyone by revealing what I believe I see in the video. I think like most people I’m trying to put together the pieces of what occurred that day with Twistex. A team of dedicated people who were known for trying to be as safe as possible in an inherently dangerous situation. Their focus always being on gathering important information to give people as much warning as possible to escape a deadly tornado. I also believe that whatever we learn from that tragedy will also further their quest in saving lives. Possibly the lives of other chasers. The link to Dan’s video is at the bottom of this post. I tried to post this once before but I don’t see it so I’m assuming I did something wrong. 2023.06.08 11:43 coffeeanddonuts1 Bilateral renal agenesis
We just got a diagnosis that no expectant parent ever wants to get yesterday. I’m feeling very lost and devastated and know we will need to go forward with termination soon.
At our 13wk NT ultrasound low amniotic fluid was noted and we were sent for a follow up at a women’s hospital who deal with high risk and complicated pregnancies. At our first appointment there at 14w4d it was still low and difficult to get a clear ultrasound of baby but they thought they saw one kidney and weren’t able to see the other. Yesterday at 16w2d we got an official diagnosis of bilateral renal agenesis, our baby didn’t form kidneys and is not compatible with life. What they thought was a kidney at the previous ultrasound they believe was actually part of the bowel but was difficult to determine because it’s so early on. Our baby is measuring perfectly otherwise, growth and heart rate all within range. But yesterday as soon as they started the ultrasound both my husband and I knew it wasn’t good as there was now no amniotic fluid around our baby, it went from oligohydramnios to anhydramnios. After a sonographer and a perinatal specialist both used multiple ultrasound wands we were sat down and given the diagnosis of bilateral renal agenesis. There is no options, there is no hope and I cannot believe that we are going through this. We were so set to do anything to bring our baby into this world but there was nothing to be done. 100% fatal is the term the Dr used.
We’ve had a really long, difficult road to get here and it just doesn’t even feel real that this is my life right now. It took us over 10 years of trying, multiple ivf rounds, an ectopic pregnancy, two chemical pregnancies, an endometriosis diagnosis and immune suppression protocol with our frozen embryo transfers to get here. Right now I should’ve been preparing to deliver my ectopic baby any day but instead am trying to come to terms with the fact that I will have terminate this baby and once again be a mother without a living child. I don’t even know how to begin to comprehend this situation right now. When we talked to the doctors they said given that there is no other abnormalities detected that they don’t believe it will be a genetic cause or a syndrome. Knowing that it’s just some random chance occurrence feels really difficult to accept. Regardless, we agreed on a medical termination over surgical so we can do genetic testing and also a limited autopsy. As much for closure as to also give us information if we decide to try again with the embryos we have frozen.
We are going to schedule our termination at around 18w so I can get things in order at work and take some time to grieve and be at home without having to think about work and worry that my projects are suffering. I feel silly for saying it but it’s like I need to get everything in order before I can give myself permission to go through this and focus on the situation. I’m scared to have to go through the termination and leave hospital with an empty uterus and arms. I won’t get to feel my baby kicking and moving, I won’t get to get a big round belly, I won’t get to meet my little person and watch them grow and see their personality. It just feels so unfair when it’s been such a struggle to get here to have it all taken away by some random chance.
I wanted to basically word vomit out my story so far but also ask some difficult questions that I have right now and trying to find answers for. For those who did a medical termination, Did you decide to see your baby? Did you take photographs? And did you name your baby? I’m just worried that if I don’t think it through and make quick decisions I might regret them for getting closure and being able to move on.

2023.06.08 11:11 damiengash What to get for my first motorcycle?
Hi, just getting my A license here in Finland and am thinking about what kind of bike to get. I have a few things I want:
- Able to make longer trips comfortably, straigh-up sitting position
- 500-700cc
- Able to take on some gravel roads, but not full on offroad
- Still be able to commute about 10-15km daily
I am quite large, 193cm(6 feet 4 inches I guess for you americans) and weigh in about 300 pounds. This will probably make some difference in some bikes performance. I have been looking at several different kinds of bikes and they all have great things about them, but I am especially concerned about my size and how it will affect the riding ecperience.

2023.06.08 10:49 Zagaroth [No Need For A Core?] - CH 091: Serpent Time
Cover Art <<
Previous Start Next >>
The first serpentine dragon form he was going to work on was a variant of river drake. Preferring as always to grow and change existent creatures rather than make new ones from raw mana, Mordecai sent his mind searching among the small creatures that had become part of their ecology. Snakes were obvious choices, as well as most lizards, but less reptilian creatures could work as well.
True Dragons were not mammals, birds, reptiles, or any other common animal type. Yet all of those and more were capable of becoming draconoids, and the draconoid races often had some potential to evolve into True Dragons. So what made the difference? How did things that were not related species become related species like that?
As far as Mordecai could tell, it was a case of a faith-like interaction with a concept that every sentient race held. It reinforced itself as well, for True Dragons certainly would always claim that they could recognize another True Dragon compared to a mere draconoid, and for something like this they counted as being on the ‘mortal’ side of the equation. It probably didn’t hurt that the primary creator deity of this reality was a dragon, creating a very strong focal point of the concept of dragon.
It didn’t take him long to find a selection of animals that resonated positively with the concept he had in his mind, and he drew those creatures to the fifth floor. It didn’t matter that they were not all the same species, the transformations would fix that. Changing a creature was magnitudes easier than creating one, and reforging them into being the exact same species was only a little harder than starting with the same base.
The biggest issue with starting from scratch was not the physical structure, that was only a little bit harder than creating some of the items available as treasures. No, it was holding everything together at the same moment and filling it with synchronized animus and spirit while kick-starting every single chemical process at once in proper harmony. He had vague memories of having tried this before, just enough to have been left as a warning of ‘don’t do this’ by his more complete self.
Oh, if he wanted constructs or something relatively simple, creatures that had animus but not true life and spirit, those weren’t too hard. The bookwyrms and biting words were examples of that. Though creating constructs might become harder soon if his suspicions were right. Well, he’d have to wait and see on that.
These thoughts only took a portion of his concentration as he reworked his volunteers to match his vision. For these river drakes he used a classic sea serpent/leviathan model, a long sinuous body with various frilly fins running along its length, a narrow head and snout with sharp teeth at one end and a flat tail for speed and maneuverability at the other. But that wasn’t enough to make them a real threat to travelers, even if they were three feet long.
The first customization he made was some minor chameleon abilities. Nothing magical in this case, just the same ability to subtly shift the structure of their scales to reflect different colors of light that many normal creatures had, if slightly more efficiently designed. The effects were enhanced by the fact that the waterways were going to be filled with floating motes of light, making it hard to accurately measure depth and distance by vision alone.
And of course, any quality drake needed an important draconic feature, a Breath Weapon. In this case, he gave them a powerful, narrow jet of water that could pierce many materials as well as potentially knock foes back.
Now for mobility. They were already great swimmers of course, but he wanted more than that. He’d already made sure their scales and skin wouldn’t dry out easily, now he gave them a minor flight ability. It was closer to being a magically enhanced jump with a little bit of levitation for extra distance and a soft landing, and just a tiny bit of mid-air guidance. They could do this from water or land, and they had the sharp teeth and powerful snake-like musculature to act as constrictors, though they were too small to do so to a typical humanoid. Their land speed was pretty comparable to most snakes as well, though their side fins interfered somewhat.
There was a final important touch that wouldn’t affect anything in the immediate future but would come into play when they had more levels. These two to three-foot-long drakes were juveniles for the species he had designed, and he would be creating habitats for their later life stages as the dungeon gained more levels, and eventually some spawning grounds back in the hidden pools along with a way for them to get there in their adult forms.
Mordecai now turned his attention to the second serpentine form he wanted for this floor. Winged Serpents. Oh, not actual Couatl, these were not divine creatures after all, but he modeled them on the famous celestial serpents, giving their snake-like bodies both rainbow-colored feathers and scales as well as growing a pair of powerful, wide wings. They wouldn’t be able to soar the skies elegantly, but what they needed was maneuverability and the ability to leap upward in a quick burst.
Instead of free-roaming creatures like the river drakes, he made these pack hunters, and created a special mushroom for their nests: These were low, squat structures that grew from the ceiling, with a structure that was soft enough for tunnels to be chewed into it, but with enough tensile strength to continue to cling to the ceiling so long as the tunnels were not excessive.
From either these nests or from the tops of the mushroom trees they could keep watch for potential prey, and called out to each other with ultrasonic cries to communicate, the tones too high for most creatures to hear. They also used a separate set of clicks in that range for echolocation, allowing them to ‘see’ no matter how dark their environment was.
In order to capitalize on this, he gave them a pair of abilities. The first was a simple globe of darkness spell, about 40 feet in diameter that they could cast on an area about once an hour. This was readily countered with any sufficiently strong light-themed spell, but it could still cause problems for unprepared groups.
The second ability was related, but not so easily countered. Once a day, they could release a billowing cloud of dark ‘smoke’ from underneath their scales. This was a chemical reaction instead of a spell, and was a strong irritant to most species, creating effects not unlike that of pepper oil. The combination made it hard to see them and was extremely distracting, but also shorter-lived than the darkness spell. This was generally going to be used to enable the winged serpent to escape when injured.
Their primary combat ability was a poisoned bite. These were ambush predators, and typically would dive in on prey and deliver several bites before retreating, and would repeat the tactic as needed. And for a final touch, he gave them a razor-sharp tail tip, more than capable of flaying flesh and enabling them to eat prey in pieces, unlike a snake.
Now, he knew what he wanted to do for the two ‘warring’ factions already, but the ‘wildlife’ didn’t feel quite fleshed out yet, and he wanted to nail that down first. Well, he had water and air covered, and the warring factions would cover the surface of the land well enough, so why not something from underground?
While snakes could fulfill this role too, Mordecai felt that it would be overdoing it at this point. And definitely nothing plant-like, he’d done enough with the mushroom already. So a burrowing animal of some sort. Hmm. Let's see what his options were.
Well, no burrowing birds, he already had a flying challenge in a dense forest, he didn’t need more. Rabbits and polecats have been used in other levels already before even considering what his warring factions were going to be like. In the end he had two choices he liked, and decided that the mammal would probably work better with the warring factions, so he developed the other into a proper predator instead.
Not that it wasn’t already, but it was a little small for humans, and he could make some other improvements as well. Mordecai began channeling magic into a selection of trap door spiders to enlarge them to about the size of a horse and set to work ‘improving’ them. The first step was to make their poison more potent, namely into a mix of paralytic agents and digestive enzymes. Then he enhanced their silk weaving abilities, giving them different web types by adding ‘normal’ webs, thrown net-webs, and the ability to lay out sensory threads on the ground in addition to using webbing to reinforce their layers and create the trapdoors.
Of course, having them only use ground lairs would be boring. So Mordecai made sure they could dig into some of the larger mushroom trees to create lairs there too. Getting through this floor was going to require some proper paranoia. Now, while both the river drakes and the feathered serpents were going to be able to come in great numbers, the giant spiders were tougher foes, so he was going to limit them to hunting in pairs. This still wasn’t normal spider behavior, but that would help make things creepier and keep people on their toes.
He had a nice selection of fungal hazards and dangerous creatures, so now it was time to start working on the two war camps and their denizens.

2023.06.08 10:40 TinylittlemouseDK AITA for leaving my friend at the bus stop?
My best friend(m29) Lars and I (f32) were on our way to a shared friend(f34) Tinas birthday party. We in company of a large group of other guests (all friends and acquaintances of ours) waiting for the same bus. Suddenly Lars says he is thirty and needs to buy a drink. I tell him we will be late if he misses the bus. And that he should just drink some of my water or wait and get something to drink at the party.
The bus was leaving in two minutes and the next one would leave 15 minutes later. There is a 10 minut bus ride from where we were to the location of the birthday and it was set to start in 10 minuts. So by missing the bus we would be 25 minutes late.
Lars says he don't want to wait and crossed the road to buy a drink in a shop. When the bus arrived he was not back. I got on the bus with the other guests, and texted him and told him this.
When he arrived at the party 25 minutes later he was pissed and said I was TA for not wanting and leaving him alone to wait for the next bus. He said it wasn't a big deal being late, because the other guests did arrive on time. I do agree with this, it was not a big deal and Tina did not seem to care that Lars was 25 minutes late. Other guests arrived after him as well. I just didn't think that him wanting a drink was a good enough reason for being late.
AITA?

2023.06.08 10:37 Barney429336 On a scale of 1-10, how worth it is it to buy a road bike?
So I learned how to ride a bike about two years ago and it’s been a summer love of mine for the past two years. I’ve had two mountain bikes and I average at 10-12 mph. I would really like to try a road bike (of which I will be buying used) but is it really worth spending 200-300 dollars? I’m a college student and just last year bought an $1100 mountain bike. Edit: obligatory on mobile warning.

2023.06.08 10:34 SavingsAnnual3678 I need help getting out of this...
Hello,
Its a long text of wall, I am sorry for this, but somehow,
I am ashamed of my situation, that I let myself in like this. I want to be as honest as I can, and hopefully someone will understand my struggle and my situation, because I feel pretty alone, unloved and left alone to rott somehow...
I have this relationship with a girl from abroad for now almost a year, she is from indonesia, we met through dating website, and pretty fast she confessed her love to me, which overwhelmed me, and i felt very uncomfortable, but she was the first girl that was flirty with me, that gave me the feeling she wants me and not only for the reason i am a foreigner.. Not only that, but also she was so increadibly beautifull, no joke. My eyes got attached to her, and we startet chatting... the first red flag, i ignored, because from my last toxic relationship, i have learned about myself that i can be a catalyst, and i am aware of my short moodswings(i have ADHD, and struggled with that not being aware of myself), so I kinda thought, okay maybe i was just not very kind or something?
The situation was, after 3-4 days of talking to her daily, i was mentioning her thati am not her boyfriend yet, i dont know exact reason why i have said that, but her mood switched instantly, and she was cold, not talking anymore and visibly upset... The next day i wanted to discuss this, and kinda yea blamed myself for her reaction and asked her to be my girlfriend, which she agreed too. At this point I already heard from her, she never had a boyfriend or relationship before..(She was 25 at this point) Which is not a rare statement...
More and more situations like these happened, her temper, I always blamed myself, took the stress, but never yelled or snapped, tried calling her trying to comfort her... at a point, stupid me... I asked just for "fun" if she want to have the number of my ex(I have also a daughter with her), which she said, yes. And i have told her, that this was just a joke"i could not shut my mouth, i regret that so much)... and i gave her the number, i warned her my ex is not an honest person and i am single for a reason..I told her not to contact her, which she stated, i will, but everything she tells me wont have an effect...
I havent had much contact with my ex, and since i was with my new girlfriend now, i wanted to be loyal as possible, since i had a daughter with my ex, it was kinda obvious at a certain point i had to talk with her(the kid lives with me). Fast forward, within a few weeks i got a unrest in my belly, and i kindly asked her to give me a whatsapp screenshot of her recent chats, i wanted to feel okay, i asked her about this because she suddenly wrote to me "dont chat any girls" and as far as i know, i did not... so why would she asked like that.. i said to her, you too, dont chat with boys. Aaaand she gave me the screenshot, bingo, she chattet with a man, flirty(he replied pretty dry), one sentence kinda hurt me the most, she wrote him after he asked, "what are you doing" she replied, "chatting with you 😊" ... she was chatting with me at the same time.
This was the first time, i lost hope with her, but unfortunatley, i was emotionally attached to her already, she told me "its just a friend" ob boy, i cant heat that nonsense... i was devastated, i did nothing, i was loyal, why could she do this to me? I yelled at her, lost my temper... the next day i told her how much i suffer from seeing this, she kinda turned it off, its just a friend, sorry... And i think, when she betray me why she not delete the chat before she sent me it? And i though, okay, calm down, maybe its really just like that.... Later (6 month) she revaled she startet chatting with him, because my ex told her i had a relationship with her and she thought i am unloyal to her.(which i was not at the time)
But the situation at this point, i lost trust in her, i could not trust her anymore, when she said to me over the peroid of 2-3 days "dont chat with other girls" i got so suspicious.... and now i saw this, it prooved what i was scared of, that i found someone again who is not loyal.
6 weeks into the relationship i decided to visit her in indonesia, i have never been there, until that moment we had almost fight on a daily base for small things, wrong questions or whatsoever... but i thought, when i see her, i will know what person she really is, maybe its justa huge missunderstanding .
So i arrived with my daughter at the airport, suprise, the girl is not there, she has a reason the next day she will have an exam(which is not a lie) and will be interviewed by some people and she needed to prepare for that. Atleast thats what she said. (Later she revealed, she did not want to pick me up at the airport, because her friends wanted to join and she felt jealous).. So i was there, alone in the hot sun of indonesia, felt lost and left alone, unworthy, and kinda realise what big mistake i do, someone who i thought loves me, left me alone in a country where i never been too, i contacted her, and ofcource i complained... she asked the hotel staff from the hotel to pick me up, which he did, so yea, i kinda felt atleast she cared, somehow.
the next day, i was in the hotel, i havent showered or eaten yet, only my daughter. She was pretty happy, she loves to jump on beds, so yea, i felt atleast a bit relief that this wasnt a total faulure yet to go there after such a short amount of time.
She said she will visit me after work, which is 16, with driving or traffic problems arround 18 then.. I havent talked to her, because i wanted to wait, guess who could not be reached for hours, at 18, she turned on her phone, said she is on the way, there was an accident on the road, and they will drive a detour... (Later she revealed, that she lied, the story about this isnt very compleeted, just recently she added more details, but yea)
Anyway she arrived at 21:00 on the hotel, and i was in a state between is she playing with me and excitement to see her. I knew she was lying, i had checking up google maps, no way the driving was arround 4-5 hours... So after our heartfull greeting, we where hugging and kissing but somehow these unrest within me, that she might not be serious, so i asked her, did you really drive 4-5 hours? She said yes, there was traffic accident... i knew she was lying, and i asked her, to be honest to me, which she said, she is honest. (At that time i took that very serious, because i dont want to hear any stories, which are false, i am pretty sensitive and could not trust her so easily after she not there at the airport and the previous situation with the chatting boy)
And i made my decision, i asked her to go away, i was just devastated that she lied to me, she startet crying and tried to call with her godmom, its already 3am, and i did not really realised about her situation, after i calmed down, i approached her and said sorry, and we went to bed(she stayed with me) We had no issue so far for the next 2-3 days. After 5 days(the peroid of the hotel booked) i needed to find a new hotel, we, before i went to indonesia agreed that i could stay with her, in her arpartment... Turns out, its not the case, so yea, i booked a hotel for me and her, which she visited me, its very close to her work, so everything was kinda fine, but we argued alot, almost everyday until this point...
And my behaviour was more and more like a brute, i was starting to yell at her when she really dared to pick up a fight again, i could not calm myself, her little things really hurt me, for instance, she asked me to kiss her for 10 minutes, which i refused, and i kissed her for 30 seconds, which was not what she wanted, and she went mad, pointed a google maps route on her phone without saying anything, packed her stuff let the phone on the bed so i can see it, and after she almost done packing, i asked her whast this about... Yup she was about to leave... Small things like this, elevated our sitation always, from small things like these we went up to risk everything, neither she or me wanted to budge and not try to calm down the other person, int he end it was me who calmed first and tried to make the situation less toxic.
Now to the initial situation almost 10 month later... I am sitting here writing this, my ex almost talked oto her and spread lies about me on a weekly base, she believe the most things, and this makes me so broken, i have suicidal thoughts, i hurt myself pretty bad, i have scard on my body(which i never had before!) and she uses everything against me what she can in a "fight" she never approaches ne, never feels guilty, never see's her attiture and her cold behaviour, at this point she knows already i am the weak one here in this relationship, i am the one who will always come back, regardless what she does, at this point she states almost everymonth she want to chat with somerone else(turned out she did that a few times) and also mentioned at some point she wanted to have intercourse with another man.
Besides my mistakes, and yes i really did a few huge things, like i asked my ex, after the first time i saw her chat with another man, i got so sus, that i asked her to translate(my ex also from that country......but living here in my country) and she assure me "hey this girl is nice to you, you need to go with her, she is good for our daughter) so i felt comfortable getting informations and solutions about this what i do, yea she confirmed my relationship with my new girlfriend, and kinda felt supportive... I fell into a deep trap, behind my back she told my currentl girlfriend "he is horrible, dont be with him etc etc etc"
i havent clearly understood everything between those two, neither my ex or my current girlfriend are very open and only reveal a bit by a bit, ofcourse my current girlfriend is super jealous and angry... somehow i cant break this relation, i know myself, the red flags are everywhere, even on my side, i had done a huge mistake and other things which i havent mentioned... but until this day everything i do, she uses against me, a small word, and i end up crying in agony and pain. she hangs up the phone so easily, like i mean nothing to her when she is upset, she can throw me away like garbage when she is about to be angry...
i dont understand, when she states she loves me? how can she constantly disrespecting me and treating me like this.... I really need to get out of this, i dont know how, i am alone and isolated, i have a few friends which they clearly stated at some point, "you dont want to listen, please dont bother anymore with that"
the emotionally attachment makes me crazy, i dont want to feel, i want to be cold and careless, i want to have my peace, how??

2023.06.08 10:12 innerouterspaces Not inviting my MOH's boyfriend...
(I welcome honest opinions but please be kind about it, this is a hard situation for me and feeling sensitive about it because I love her so much and trying to approach this in the most balanced way possible, but I’m also trying to respect my own boundaries)
Background: My MOH is a long time childhood friend, her and her family are basically family. My first impression of her boyfriend, the first time she ever talked about him to me, was when he already fucked her over (she barely told anyone about him in the beginning because she was embarrassed that they wouldn’t like him and some other reason I forgot….), he was immature, ghosted her, left her for his ex even though he told her his ex gf was crazy...etc etc. I was there for her through that, helping her process and holding space for her.
Time goes on and she stops talking to me about him so I assumed she's moved past it, but eventually (she never told me but I heard from her sister) she’s starts talking to him again. (Her sister has told me that he’s pulled more bullshit on and off throughout that time as well). I thought, well if she is ready to talk to me about him then she will tell me how things are. She never really does.
And so I make my guest list for my wedding and I didn’t give her a plus one because I literally didn’t even think she had a bf. (She’s going with her whole family to my wedding and knows many others there).
Fast forward this past month, about a month before my rsvp deadline, she starts slowly referring to him as her bf casually. I don’t say much or ask questions. Fast forward to 4 days after the rsvp deadline (but 3 days before I have to give my final number to my caterer), she asks if she can bring him.
I have a strong bodily reaction to it when she asked. I realize that he triggers me. I’ve been in past toxic relationships that remind me of the shit that guy has pulled. And I may be extremely biased, but during a 2 day road trip I had with her recently, he called her soooo many times (and my MOH’s mom told me the same thing happened to her when her mom traveled to visit my MOH from out of state, her mom had to keep telling her to get off the phone)…and to me, that’s a sign of unhealthy attachment at best, or at worst, keeping tabs/controlling behavior. And that shit triggers me because, again, I’ve been in that kind of relationship many years ago. (I have met him once over FaceTime for like 10 seconds, and it felt overly friendly disingenuous/fake or trying too hard to the point where I felt awkward and had a hard time connecting with him, but again, it could be my bias)
I plan to talk to her soon and be honest with how I feel about it, and that I do want to get to know him and work through my triggers of him (because she said during our road trip he is improving and putting in effort, etc etc but it's hard for me to believe right away) but I don’t want to have to work through my triggers and get to know him AT my wedding.
I feel bad because I love her and she puts in effort to be a helpful MOH and she’s already upset that her mom doesn’t like her bf and me not wanting him there will probably make her feel worse. I just don’t want that energy or that reminder of those triggers at my wedding. I'm seeing my partner and I's wedding day as something sacred and there's certain energies I do not want there. I know my friend will be hurt but will generally respect my decision...but am I being rude for not inviting him?

2023.06.08 10:06 Djh1982 John MacArthur Attempts to Explain[1 Timothy 2:13-15]: A Catholic’s Response
The passage in question reads:
“For Adam was formed first, then Eve. 14 And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. 15 Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control.”-1 Tim.2:13-15
One user asked:
”What can this possibly mean? Given that Paul has always been saying it(salvation) is through faith.”
A helpful user responded with an answer posited by John MacArthur. Mac, sensing that this passage was a threat to sola-fide(and rightfully so) springs into action and attributes the word “saved” to be referring to “salvation from a stigma” as opposed to it being about salvation from “sin” itself. Mac writes:
“Paul is not advocating that women are eternally saved from sin through childbearing or that they maintain their salvation by having babies, both of which would be clear contradictions of the NT teaching of salvation by grace alone through faith alone (Ro 3:19, 20) sustained forever (Ro 8:31–39). Paul is teaching that even though a woman bears the stigma of being the initial instrument who led the race into sin, it is women through childbearing who may be preserved or freed from that stigma by raising a generation of godly children (cf. 5:10).”
He concludes with:
“Paul is speaking in general terms; God does not want all women to be married (1Co 7:25–40), let alone bear children. if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint. The godly appearance, demeanor, and behavior commanded of believing women in the church (vv. 9–12) is motivated by the promise of deliverance from any inferior status and the joy of raising godly children.”
So Mac chalks it up to being salvation “from a stigma” or “deliverance from an inferior status” and leaves it at that. Problem solved, right?
Wrong.
Mac’s answer has only succeeded in kicking the can further down the road, for we see it rear it’s ugly head yet again in Paul’s letter to the Romans:
(Romans 2:6-7)
“God “will repay each person according to what they have done.” 7 To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, he will give eternal life.”
Well now we have a real problem. How could doing “good works” result in salvation? You see quick-fixes about damaged reputations may be able to plug one hole but it can’t plug them all. We only see this statement by Paul being doubled-down upon by St.John:
(Revelation 22:12)
““Look, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to each person according to what they have done.”
What can we do? We have already exhausted Mac’s “stigma” explanation so we may not return to that well. We must ask ourselves:
Is there ANOTHER way to understand Paul’s meaning in [1 Timothy 2:13-15]?
Yes, of course there is….and it’s the simplest thing in the world that the Catholic Church has been teaching for 2,000 years—we are NOT justified by our faith alone:
(James 2:24)
“As you can see, a man is justified by his deeds and NOT by faith alone.”
It is not enough to have faith but no deeds. No charity. For as Paul says:
(1 Corinthians 13:2)
“If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing.”
That’s why Paul says a woman will be saved through child-bearing. He doesn’t mean “saved from a stigma” he means “saved from sin”. It’s not about having or not having children strictly speaking, just as it was never about what goes into your body:
(Matthew 15:11)
“What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”
For God…it’s always about why you’re doing what it is that you’re doing. It’s always about that. If you wish to be saved then it’s not enough to have “faith alone”—you must combine your faith with works of charity. Therefore Paul’s use of the phrase “saved in child-bearing” is not a theological problem that needs to be solved. We just need to understand that Paul was connecting these “charitable works” to Christ, who enables us to do them:
(John 15:5)
““I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
[1 Timothy 2:13-15] is not about “stigmas” or “damaged reputations”. It’s not about any of those things. It’s about meriting salvation through the good works God causes us to do:
(Philippians 2:13)
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
God causes us to “will and to act” and obeying these things will “save us” because “eternal life” is going to be rendered according to those deeds👇:
(Colossians 3:24)
“since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord AS A REWARD. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
We don’t need to solve this problem, we simply need to do these kind of works.

2023.06.08 09:50 thejoshway Luton Sensible Transfers – Defensive Midfield
Sensible transfers – Defensive midfield
Welcome to another edition of my ‘Sensible Transfers’ series, where I analyse what I believe to be realistic transfers (to varying degrees) for Luton Town FC ahead of the 2023/24 Premier League season. In this post we discuss the defensive midfield position. with Nakamba’s loan finishing and him returning to Villa, there’s a huge void in front of the defence that needs filling. This list includes some ‘first-choice’ picks I believe are realistic, and some ‘wildcard’ picks that I think would be nice but are less realistic for one reason or another.
First-choice
I cannot stress how important it is that Luton sign Marvelous Nakamba permanently. His presence and ball-winning ability was pivotal to Luton’s rise from January onwards, providing the shield that the defence didn’t have under Nathan Jones. His wage demands might be a stumbling block, but he’s a known quantity at the club and thus worth the outlay. Bring him back!
I have been a fan of Ethan Ampadu since I saw him boss the midfield at the base of a diamond for Exeter at 16 years of age. Since a big money move to Chelsea, the versatile Ampadu has fallen victim to the loan merry-go-round that plagues Chelsea’s development team. This has allowed him to develop a pedigree playing in a number of different positions in different leagues. Given his utility in midfield and defence, either a loan or a permanent loan here could be win-win for all parties involved.
I know Hamza Choudhury didn’t pull up any trees for those lads down the road, but I’d imagine its hard to succeed in such a toxic atmosphere. He’s strong in the challenge, has Premier League experience, and is available on a free. He’s worth a punt as a rotation player in my opinion.
Daniel Neil was a key player in Sunderland’s rise into the playoffs this year. Capable of playing across the midfield, Neil was a product of Sunderland’s youth system. He chipped in with 2 goals and 4 assists this year, and could deputise for Nakamba with the potential to make the position his own in the long term. He would command a substantial fee however, having just signed a new deal in March.
Wildcards
Stefan Bajcetic is in this section as its unlikely Liverpool will loan him, but has shown enough talent in the limited time he’s been given for their first team this season that he should be under consideration. For a teenager he shows incredible poise on the ball and demonstrates an ability to dictate the tempo of a game. As Liverpool are rumoured to be signing up to 3 midfielders, he could be sent out on loan to gain more experience.
Another longshot is Tunisian anchor Ellyes Skhiri. I was impressed with Tunisia’s ability to defend at the world cup, with Skhiri key to their defensive shape. Domestically, he’s managed to chip in with 7 goals and 1 assist in the Bundesliga this season. As such, he’s likely to have a lot of suitors this year, especially as he’s out of contract.
Florian Grillitsch is set to leave Ajax on a free transfer after joining them for free last year. Ajax have not had a great season, and neither has Florian personally, only making 10 appearances in the Eredivisie. Before this, he was a solid Bundesliga defensive midfielder. A spell at Luton in the Premier League provides him with a big stage to revive his career.
