Today I’m searching for a partner for an RP I’ve been crafting for sometime now. It's a passion project and as stupid as it sounds it means a lot to me to share this with someone!
I've been RPing for well over 17 years, I play strictly on Discord because I love creating a server and keeping things organized. My play/writing style is something that I will not budge on; I write in 3rd/past tense, I use realistic reference pics for characters and environments and I can average about 2-3 paragraphs per post (or more) but I'm definitely a fan of quality over quantity. I operate on EST and have a full time job as well as a life outside of RP and work, so my availability is a little off kilter, I'm free to write and stuff during the daytime hours (8am-4pm) and am unavailable on the weekends.

This RP is something I've been crafting for a while now, from the lore to the characters, the different plot lines and stories. Allow me to lay down the groundwork!
Your Character comes to a small seaside town, known for its beaches, amusement piers, nature preserves and history. How and why you’re there can be decided later (I have three different beginnings to choose from or you can create your own!) but your character is in town and they begin to explore the town. Eventually they befriend a small but close knit group of locals and soon discover that their new friends and the town are hiding a strange new world right under the noses of the Humans that live there.
I will take on a GM type role, unfurling the world and offering choices for you to make that will impact the story, characters and outcome of events. If you enjoy large casts, an expansive world, magic, chaos, humor and urban fantasy then this is definitely for you!

For context I dated to groom over a decade ago and we have remained friends even after breaking up. I’m a full time unpaid caregiver to two physically and cognitively disabled parents. For years I’ve had to depend on server and gig work jobs just to get by. This was not the plan I had for myself but that’s life and I’m doing my best to adapt. I will never understand the dehumanization of people who work “low income”“unskilled” labor jobs. Anytime you even mention the unethical practices of these companies the very first thing I hear is “get a real job”. I have a Wordpress site that's been with GoDaddy since 2012, up to around 2018-2019 the service was great and I really had few complaints. But since covid it's really, really gone downhill, the support has become horrendously bad to the point that any time an issue becomes slightly difficult to deal with the agent will just disconnect from the chat with no prior warning, I'm always polite and reply quickly, yet they've disconnected 4 times now when trying to solve a DNS issue that's quite critical. Looking for guidance here as I’ve never encountered this situation before. Had a new roof installed and on the advice of the rep we went and got a place elsewhere for a couple of days so the banging didn’t drive us crazy.
Got back home and my upstairs AC unit isn’t working. My AC guy came out and said it was completely depleted of Freon and likely it was an accident during roofing.
Roofing company sent someone out to say my refrigerant line was already weak at spots and maybe the “vibrations” from the install broke something.
They’ve got someone coming out today to do a pressure test but I also need to pay for the roof. I’ll definitely read all the language on whatever it is I need to sign as the roof is complete but is there anything else I should be looking out for? Original roofing contract doesn’t state anything about not holding them liable for damaging an AC unit.

EDIT: I'm based in London
I've searched, but most things I've found have been either _getting_ a freeholder to do work, or about somewhat urgent repairs (for example, leaking roof).
We live in a converted terraced house that is now 3 flats. All 3 flats are rented from 3 different owners. All owners (as I understand) are leasehold owners, and the freeholder is a separate person / entity.
When we moved in (late 2022), it was suggested that the freeholder would be "doing some work" to the building early next year.
- The front of the building is grubby, paint is peeling etc and it is quickly becoming the worst looking on the street.
- The common areas are functional but battered and showing their age.
This is all to say, there is not ( to my knowledge) an urgent problem to fix. Its more maintenance work that has been allowed to build up over many years.
We rent the ground floor flat. The ground floor flat has exclusive use of (and only access to) the back garden.
Fast forward to today..
We got notified this morning by email that some property management company are "pleased" (lol) to confirm scaffolding / access equipment will be erected. Starting in 13 days time, and lasting for a period of 7 weeks ("weather permitting")
We have not been told the scope of the work and are actively trying to figure it out. My questions are:
- If the work ends up being noisy, are we entitled to compensation?
Shelter talks about our rights to "quiet enjoyment" of our home, and quoting directly - "This means that the landlord must allow the tenant to use the premises peacefully." Does the distinction that the work is being done by the _freeholder_ and not the _landlord_ matter here?
- What if work also needs to be carried out at the back of the house?
a) Going through our flat is the only way to access the back of the property. Meaning if they need to put scaffolding up, it will all need to come through our flat. As will the people doing the work, for however long it takes.
b) Presumably our access and use of the garden will be inhibited for the duration of the works.
The prospect of having an unknown number of contractors traipsing through our home for an unknown amount of time isn't exactly appealing lol. And having the garden access restricted (and also the garden looking worse) for a large chunk of the summer is really frustrating too.
- Is 13 days notice reasonable?
Just this morning we were talking about having friends over for dinner in the garden. That's a much less exciting prospect if we have scaffolding erected in the back garden. But also generally 13 days notice for our property to go through unknown maintenance work for 7 weeks doesn't feel great.
- 7 weeks (weather permitting)?
I'm sure many people have similar feelings. I automatically don't believe anyone professionally tied to the property industry. My experience has been almost exclusively charlatans to borderline criminals. This "weather permitting" line - is it a get out of jail free card for us to get messed around with scaffolding on our home for 12 months? What avenues are open to us once we pass the 7 week mark.

It’s about to be 2 years with my bf and it’s honestly been the healthiest, happiest, most accepting relationship I’ve had. I’ve always been honest with my bf and have felt like i can tell him everything but this is the last wall I had up and I can’t continue to keep this secret from him. It’s been killing me for so long even before this bar night. But these feelings really started when I took an edible a few months back to decompress and during sex the high kicked in but quickly fucked with my mental state. I think it was mostly due to my bff always judging me for having a so called “work roster” cause of both of my bfs being from work, the friend i slept with, and my other 2 failed attempts. I was with that company for over a decade and spent all my time there so it was hard to get to know people outside of work and I’m not one for dating apps. So it’s always been something that hurt deep down inside. I know most people would probably be able to take a secret like this to the grave but I simply can’t. I value my honesty in my relationship with him more than keeping this a secret from a drunk night even if it causes me to end that friendship. Im scared of the outcome and me destroying our perfect relationship and just need advice. My cousins and brother tell me to take this to the grave while my other bff tells me to be honest with him. Another Zelda game has released and as before, it has led to the usual articles and claims from the same people. Before it was that Link was gay or a gay icon despite him only ever expressing heterosexual desires. Link has only ever been shown to be romantically interested in Zelda and in some games, Link can flirt with female characters and only female characters.
Now the new claim is Link is non binary or genderless or some such nonsense despite every character referring to him as a he and even he himself referring to himself as a he. There was a side quest in Breath of the Wild where you show The Master Sword to a woman looking for The Legendary Hero and the dialogue option for Link to say he is that hero is to say "I am He."
It's also hilarious the activists will bring up the fact that Link has to cross dress to enter Gerudo Town as any sort of "proof" when Link actually happily "misgenders" the crossdresser who gives him the female clothes and even facepalms in embarrassment when said crossdresser has his mask blown off by the wind. That whole situation is played for laughs and clearly isn't meant to positively portray crossdressers or suggest Link is one since he's shown to be clearly uncomfortable doing it during the dialogue, facts that clearly fly over the head of the idiots with their headcanons.
Combine that with the fact that Nintendo is a very socially Conservative company that doesn't even have main characters who are LGBT and these people's claims just seem like desperate self projection of a group so insecure with themselves that they constantly have the need to project their identities onto fictional video characters.
Why are they so obsessed with doing this? In the end, they only end up hurting themselves when Nintendo confirms the characters aren't LGBT. Remember Bayonetta? Happened with the third game confirming that the titular character is straight and she hooks up with a man at the end who she loves.
These people just seem so desperate for validation and attention that they feel the need to constantly project themselves onto fictional characters and when called out about it, they always throw hissy fits and temper tantrums and ask why people are "obsessed" whilst they constantly try to force their headcanons as facts on places like Wikipedia like they pathetically tried doing to Samus Aran.
Furthermore it's laughable that they need a big multi million rich company like Nintendo to "recognise" them to apparently make them feel validation. These people need to grow up.
