Hi. I have an i5-13600K with an RTX 3060 Ti. One month ago, I upgraded all my components except for my GPU. Initially, my computer worked very well, but since two weeks ago, it started to do a weird thing: when I open a game like Fortnite or Call of Duty, the CPU temperature raises up to 100 degrees Celsius and makes the PC restart. The CPU is cooled with a 120mm liquid cooler. I tried everything. The last thing I did was replacing the GPU with an old 1650. Weird but true, it works with it, and the temperature of the CPU remains at 50 degrees. I am planning on buying a 4070 to upgrade my 3060 Ti. May this solve my problem? Is my GPU the problem?

My previos computer was Haswell, so I had no problems with installing big sur 11.2, mapping usb ports and update to monterey. Now I have Comet lake with rx 6600 xt that has no support in big sur, so I need to map my usb ports to run macos, and I need run macos to map my usb ports. I think I`m missing something and I can run system past 11.3 without mapping, but I can`t find info about it

Well, what this has done has made my bad screen habits more prominent, because my phone and laptop talk to each other and calculate my daily screen time. 5 hours per day. This is 80 days over the course of a year... so I need to sort this.
I'm not even on social media accounts — I just get sucked into information rabbit holes on random thoughts and practically read all the time. I suppose it's better than TikTok, but it can't be good for my eyes, can it?
Last year, when it was time to replace my phone, I simply popped the SIM into a dumbphone and wanted to see if that had an effect.
This was great, but I quickly realised that I really needed WhatsApp. Yes, the dumbphone got me away from Reddit and YouTube — but it made arrangements more cumbersome as a result.
My next approach was to upgrade to a really cheap Android phone. I had been using Apple iOS for around 12 years at this point, so my logic was that an unfamiliar OS with cheap components might make using the phone for entertainment a little more off-putting.
This kind of worked for video content, but it only got my screen time to around 2-3 hours per day. A lot better than before, but that's still around 5 weeks per year of my life mindlessly scrolling. I eventually ended up going back to my iPhone, regardless.
Feeling the need for an intervention, YouTube then recommends this video where the vlogger treats his mobile phone as a landline, and uses an Apple Watch has his sole means of communication when out and about. This 30 day experiment proved to be so beneficial, that the guy suggests that he's continuing to do this beyond the time of the video recording.
This really spoke to me.
I have owned an Apple Watch before, but it was not cellular, so I still didn't feel 100% confident in being cut off while out and about. It was also a piece of technology I stopped using, because I just didn't want to own a lot of stuff to have to constantly charge and whatnot. But the cumbersome screen size did mean that scrolling social media for hours was a no-go — this has to be the solution, hasn't it? A cellular capable wristwatch.
So with an Apple Watch on its way to me today, why do I feel so meh about this. I got caught up in this idea so quickly and placed an order, yet it's just more technology to own, charge, and look after. The battery will probably flatline in two years time too.
I also already own a cheap running watch, so it feels like I'm needlessly replacing an item that doesn't need replacing — even if the running watch is a lot less capable than an Apple Watch.
Has anybody had a similar issue with screentime, and taken steps towards sorting it?

Dobt get ne wrong we do share a couple of things but they like soccer, fishing and drinking and i like playing computer, chess, fitness, swimming and school. Graduated end of last year with a cs degree from a top uni in Australia. I graduated with a good wam, but no internships or work experience. Since graduating I have been applying to graduate roles in software with no luck, only landed one interview and that went nowhere. Recently I have been applying to other jobs in tech because Im starting to feel the pressure to find something.
After the first place I applied for, I got an offer at a small IT/MDM company where I would basically be a help desk IT guy at 65k per year and now I’m really not sure.
On one hand, I’m really not confident on actually landing something in software engineering by next year given how it’s gone so far. Im also not sure what the career progression is like in IT because I don’t think I want to be stuck in help desk for years and years. Also worried how it might make it really hard to pivot into software later if i wanted to, since grad programs wouldn’t be available for me and I don’t really have the experience for a junior role.
On the other hand, a job is a job and I’d probably somewhat enjoy the work. Also with the increasingly large time on my resume where im just working casually, it probably wont do me any favours for future roles if I dont take this opportunity and then dont find anything this year.
Anyone got any thoughts or advice for me?

2) I consumed these over the course of 2.5 hours as i was looking for something wilder than I had ever experienced before.
With that out of the way, I’ll preface by saying that it was, in fact, wild.
This was one week ago. That morning I had hit up my plug and bought an ounce of dry penis envy mushrooms. Around 9 pm i began eating them. I had researched lemon tekking and decided to try it, so for the first few grams I ate some of the mushrooms raw and others by soaking them in lemon juice.
Fast forward 1 hour. Im playing video games with friends and begin to realize that my crosshair is expanding and contracting, as well as fish graffiti in the game has begun to move in a swimming motion. I look around my room and notice tiny red green and blue dots flying across my vision. this has happened before, and I wanted to see more. So I take roughly the same dose i had previously, probably slightly more. I assume I’m up to 8-9 grams at this point.
Fast forward another hour. Im tripping balls at this point. no doubt about it, in fact so hard that I’m not even playing any games anymore, I’m just watching my friends play as they stream on discord. as i watch them play csgo, every flick they do in game seems instant, every kill looks perfect, the four corners of my monitor shooting lines from the center of my screen i can only describe as going into hyperspace, and the walls in game are warping around them. I would describe it as a hyperbolic edit of pro gameplay with changing colors and changing game speeds.
But i wanted more. I bust out another few mushrooms totaling what i assume to be another 5+ grams. down them by lemon tekking, and proceed to watch some rocket league and throw their csgo game on the second monitor. Instantly i can tell i hadn’t fully come up from the second high dose i took, completely disregard the dose i had just ingested. As I’m watching this rocket league highlights video, the field immediately seems so massive, which i could only describe as the size and height of a Fifa soccer stadium, and while the ball is bouncing around it rapidly grows and shrinks with the distance, while also rapidly curving and changing speeds as it is boomed around.
30 minutes later: This is where i realized i was in uncharted territory as far as tripping has gone for me. The rocket league cars and accessories had begun to fully warp as well. taking on a fuzzy, cartoon like look. imagine a 4 year old drawing a car with a blunt crayon. thats what all of these flying and flipping cars had begun looking like all while the ball was still being crazy like before.
Fast forward another 2 hours. I get off of my computer just now feeling like the come up is reaching an end. This is where the peak begins.
I look at the blanket on my bed. Its folding in on its self seemingly kneading through the fabric of space all the while in a heap of gray yarn. I lay down and instantly cannot feel my body. In fact i feel completely outside of it. And simultaneously just a part of every surface my limbs are touching. My right arm and head is just part of the pillow. My body is just a part of the bed. My face a part of the air above me. and my left arm, clutching the wall, in my reality is just a stud within said wall. This may sound rough in description but to me it was like i had simply broken form and melted into my surroundings.
I then turned on shroom music on youtube and turned out the lights. what followed was beautiful.
Red, Orange, Green, purple, and blue triangular patterns twirling and flipping through each other all across my vision, bright as day. They all also would flip in and out perfectly on the beat of the music in my headphones. I sat here watching this for a while before the body feelings from before became so intense that i felt like a tree rooted through the entire earth. Connected fully to anything and everything, melded all into one being. As i looked up into what felt like the biblically accurate heavens, i began noticing an entity forming out of these colorful triangles. At this point i couldn’t even describe the colors i was seeing, but i just knew it was all kinds. I actually started tearing up due to the beauty i was witnessing. I was floored with an overwhelming sense of peace and love. This entity asked if i wanted to be taken deeper, and knowing i must be getting higher, i obliged. I fully let go and was washed into a room full of these entities, where i danced and swayed to the beat, being spoken to and beckoned by each of them in turn. They talked to me about relationships and how to not take them for granted. this lasted for the entire 2.5 hour song that i had played and when it finally ended, i was so mentally spent that i rolled over and had the most peaceful rest i had ever had since a child.
I hope you guys enjoyed sharing my experience for just a few moments and i hope that you will find the right time to find yourself in a similar way that i did, even if it isn’t through such a high dose. All in all, best experience with psychedelics i have ever had and i loved every second.

I currently have the Lenovo Universal Thunderbolt 4 dock which I use with my ThinkPad T15 G2 (Intel Iris GPU) with Fedora KDE. I have two QHD (2560 × 1440 px) monitors connected to the dock, which support 144 Hz refresh rate. However the maximum I could get with this setup (regardless of the Linux distro or kernel) is 100 Hz + 60 HZ. If I use only one, then I can run it at 144 Hz. Windows can run both at the same time with !44 Hz.
But this setup is also not stable: I frequently (sometimes up to 2 times a day) have random disconnects - the dock connection just dies (monitors, audio, ethernet...) and I have to disconnect and reconnect the USB-C cable to fix this. Sometimes if I boot the computer with the dock connected, when I enter the OS, the dock peripherals are not recognized and again a reconnect is needed.
To the question: I am growing tired of the repeated issues with the Lenovo dock, so I am wondering if I could hook up my ThinkPad to the Tuxedo Triple dock and expect better results? Would it also by chance support 144 Hz on both of the external monitors?

I'm looking for a lightweight headset that features an embedded microphone (similar to what sony WH-1000XM4 has) and also that I can make calls and listen to music at the same time, so it cannot be bluetooth because if I'm speaking to my friends over discord the game's sound will be very bad.
My current gear is a corsair virtuoso, it fits my needs but lately I found it too uncomfortable if I spend too much time with it (too heavy), and also I'm tired of having a microphone in front of my mouth.
I tried to search for these "specs" but without success, the close I got was this Logitech G733, but the reviews said that the sound quality wasn't very good, and also it has the microphone that I'm trying to avoid.

I’m a practicing Stoic and also a PhD candidate in computer science.
A lot of the literature which I read about AI safety and AI alignment assumes a kind of hedonistic utilitarianism. That is, the author wants us to build robots which will maximise pleasure and minimise pains in humans.
I think these approaches are incredibly short-sighted, since a general AI might minimise human pains by painlessly killing all humans, or might maximise human pleasure (measured by the amount of electrical activity in our brain’s pleasure centres) by dosing us all with stimulant drugs.
Clearly, applying utilitarian ethics to AIs is a serious safety risk.
I’m trying to apply Stoic ethics to AIs but I’m finding it difficult to do so. As a human, I can be ethical by cultivating virtues in myself: that is, I must be kind, compassionate, logical, honest, brave etc. These things rely on human intuition about what these values are, but it’s quite difficult to define them clearly in objective terms that an AI might understand.
So I wanted to ask other Stoics what they think: can virtues be taught to machines? Could an AI be virtuous if it emulated Stoic virtues perfectly? How might we go about specifying virtues in an unambiguous, objective way?
