2023.06.09 21:56 AnDelightBandit Could discount glasses site have messed up my order, or is it just me?
I bought three pairs of glasses during Wherelight's recent sale, but all three are uncomfortable to wear—it feels almost exactly like wearing glasses with the wrong pupillary distance. This is definitely surprising to me because all three pairs are very similar to glasses I've ordered through Wherelight in the past—exact same prescription, no new bells and whistles, similar sizes and shapes. I even manually verified both the order form online and the printed receipts from both this order and my last order to make sure that my prescription matched exactly on both!
I know that changing frames can tend to take an adjustment period, but these are literally giving me headaches (that go away when I switch back to my old frames), where none of my previous glasses do. So here's my question: is it possible that these new glasses could have been made incorrectly, or is it more likely that this is all in my head?
Thanks for any insight y'all can provide! This is my first ever actual Reddit post, so apologies if I sound like I'm writing an awkward email. :)

2023.06.09 21:45 AJZwriter The Packing Guru
Kyla ran to the porch, excited. Alexa had just chimed, indicating that Kyla’s air fryer had finally been delivered. She glanced through the window at the side of her door. It was there, all right. The brown packages were almost narcotic in the euphoria they incited in her. Kyla opened the door, her smile a shade too white. Better than too yellow, she always figured. In the background, her two-year-old son Devin cried out as he stubbed his toe.
The workroom was abuzz, air heavy with the hushed echoes of so many voices and mechanical parts blending. The collective sound possessed a hypnotic buzzing quality, like white noise. It was funny how the sound of everything happening at once sounded very much like nothing at all. Arthur rather liked it. He didn’t wear headphones like most of the other workers did. Even if he were to wear them, he didn’t know what he would listen to. Music always struck him as disingenuous. The distillation of emotion into recorded sound always resulted in a crude and rudimentary product that never seemed to capture the original feeling. That was another problem—the fact that music was a product for others to consume left Arthur cold. His heart was a blue glacier trapped in the otherwise warm workings of his flesh.
Kyla opened the box and took out the sleek appliance within. The color was called Starry Charcoal, and it was quite accurate in describing the graphite curves of the machine, the little sparkles that studded its exterior. Kyla grabbed the instruction manual and sat down at the kitchen table next to her little dude, who was now holding his injured toe and humming a tune from his favorite series. “Let’s get this sucker working,” she said, partly to her son and partly to no one in particular. She rubbed Devin’s back and began to read the manual.
Products. Consumers. Consumption. Accumulation. The goddamn Joneses and their terrible credit. Weren’t we, as advanced primates, supposed to have transcended this crap by now? Evolved to actually give a shit about the survival of our species and planet? The hamster wheel turned and turned, and Arthur was right there at the center of it. A Packing Guru, to be specific. That was his official job title. At the time of hire, when his manager had welcomed Arthur to the team as “our new Packing Guru,” Arthur had imagined inserting the brown recluse he’d found in his house the previous night into his manager’s nose and taping it shut. Nama-fucking-ste.
Devin was growing crabbier by the minute, hollering and inching dangerously closer and closer to a full-blown tantrum. “Hold on, little man, Mama’s trying to read,” Kyla murmured. She concentrated harder on the manual. Devin got off his chair and began scaling the stool next to their kitchen island, wailing mournfully. “Oh my god, Devin,” Kyla said, rolling her eyes and getting up from the table. “Here, have some of your beloved carrots.” She went into the fridge and retrieved a bowl of immaculately diced carrots. Kyla sat back down at the table and turned to the manual.
Unfortunately, the opportunity to use the brown recluse on his boss never presented itself, but with time, Arthur had found other ways to keep himself entertained at work. His thoughts drifted back to urinating in the coffee machine’s water reservoir that morning before the crowds rolled in. He also liked to add a few fingernail clippings or scabs in his coworkers’ lunches when they were otherwise occupied. Pizza was the best food for scabs, because they blended right in with the crispy crust and pepperoni. Yes, those things were highly satisfying, but that wasn’t the part of his job that fulfilled him.
The air fryer hummed as it cooked the broccoli bites Kyla had placed in it, setting the temp to 400 degrees Fahrenheit for eight minutes. Kyla, always one to do her homework, turned to the next page in the manual as she waited. A piece of paper fell out, no bigger than the circle she could make using her thumb and forefinger. She glanced up at Devin, whose tantrum had finally started to subside, and then looked back down at the paper.
The note, if you could call it that, was handwritten in pencil. Some funny words, not all of them English, were written with a hurried hand, along with some symbols she didn’t recognize. “Weird,” she said. The Alexa timer went off, startling her into dropping the book. She looked up in time to see Devin pulling the cord on the air fryer, and the air fryer crashing onto his head. The scalding broccoli bites fell out and landed on the unconscious boy’s foot with the stubbed toe. “Devin!” Kyla screamed in a voice she had never heard from herself before. She ran to the boy and found that he was not breathing. Carrots spilled out of his mouth. HE’S CHOKING HE’S CHOKING HE’S CHOKING HE’S CHOKING Kyla thought, and in her tidal wave of panic, she forgot that she knew how to do the Heimlich and CPR. She grabbed her phone and called 911.
Arthur realized he’d been sitting in a daze for close to a minute. He looked down at the package in front of him, little disciple to his Guru, and slipped a tiny piece of paper into it. He sealed the package with heavy duty packing tape and sent it off down the conveyor belt. People loved using products, but it was Arthur’s life’s work to let people know how it felt when the products used them. He watched the package fall into the shipment bin, and smiled.
Two years later, Devin sat at the kitchen table, watching his parents coo over his baby sister. He had suffered severe brain damage, but he knew enough to be jealous of her. To get their attention, he kicked his little feet, one scarred with tough, leathery skin, and one with skin untarnished. His parents did not notice. “Heeeere comes the airplane,” Daddy sang, twirling baby Alissa’s spoon in the air. The spoons, which Kyla had ordered online from her usual company, had just arrived today. They were a cult favorite on the internet, designed ergonomically for a baby’s mouth as well as to reduce the amount of food that got smeared on their face. With difficulty, Devin walked over to the recycling bin in the kitchen and pulled out the box from the spoons. There was something in it, a little piece of paper with what looked like scribbles on it. Devin looked at the paper for a long while, then threw it on the floor and meandered into his playroom, where he spent all evening playing with his new box. He had no idea that in three days, his sister would die from food poisoning.
People. Things. People loving things. People hating people. And the Packing Guru had completed the circle, accomplished a beautiful and mystical task. He had made things hate people as much as he did.

2023.06.09 21:37 ChicagoChurro This is regarding the loan on r/borrow sub. People keep messaging me after seeing the post and lies he fabricated so I wanted to clear my name and reveal the truth behind what actually happened.
I paid him back $20 with $5 interest as promised. I have proof of payment. I told him I would pay him back once my check cleared and apologized multiple times for being late on the loan, and I did pay him back immediately after my money was deposited into my account. He fabricated an entire story about what happened and to this day, people are seeing his post and messaging me talking shit every other day so I wanted to clear my name and reveal the TRUTH behind what happened.
He lent me $20 with the agreement that I would pay him back May 5 - I sent him a photo of my ID that has my name and address to validate that I am legitimate and not a scammer. I’m a single mom with a 9 month old and just started a new job, finances are tight at the moment and I literally needed money for food that night after taking care of my baby’s need, I was embarrassed to ask friends/family to lend me money so I figured I’d try this subreddit.
I gave him my phone number (big mistake) to send a photo of my ID because it wasn’t allowing me send the photo through Reddit for some reason. When he sent the $20 via PayPal, I was starting my work shift and we’re not allowed to have our phones with us so it was in my locker. When I went on break a few hours later and checked my phone, I see texts from the u / destroyed33 calling me a shitty person for not confirming that he loaned me $20 on here right away and saying I just wanted free money. I apologized for not responding sooner and confirmed that he lent me $20 on here.
The day before I was suppose to pay him back, he asked if I’m still paying him back tomorrow. I told him I’ll pay back the loan on time as I was expecting my first check from my new job to direct deposit. The next day I explained to him that my check did not direct deposit (it was my first check for this job and HR didn’t set my direct deposit up in time) and that I would have to pick up my check and deposit it manually and pay him back once I do.
I explained that I had every intention of paying him back just that it would be late and apologized for the delay. I sent him a screenshot of my bank account showing that I have literally nothing and that I would pay him back when I’m able to this week. He wanted to work out a payment plan but I had no money at all on my account, I really did feel bad and wanted to pay him back immediately but I didn’t have the funds to do so and told him I will pay him back in full soon and asked him to be a little more patient with me. I understand that it’s his money and I would be upset too if someone didn’t pay me back in time but I would try to be somewhat compassionate and understanding to their situation. I remembered I had a few dollars on my old Venmo account that I have linked to my old phone number. I told him I would send him a partial payment on there but unfortunately couldn’t remember the log in and wasn’t able to do do. I apologized and reassured him I would pay him back once my check cleared. He would text me multiple times a day and get frustrated that I would take hours to respond to his texts (I’m not glued to my phone all day and am not allowed to use it while working and I have an infant that requires a lot of my time and attention), he started calling me a liar and told me I’m making excuses up so I stopped replying not to upset him even further because whenever I would tell him what was going on, he didn’t believe me and got even more mad.
I was visiting my friend two days ago and she could tell I was upset because I was quiet. I didn’t want to tell her what was going on because I was embarrassed that I have money problems and was was worried she would look at me different for borrowing money from strangers online. I started crying and confined in her about what was going on and how tough things have been in general and showed her the texts between me and him. She said I should have came to her for money and that she would never judge me for that. She was upset at the way he was talking to me so she replied pretending she was me and called him a loan shark and said that if he genuinely cared about helping, he would just ask for the $20 back and wouldn’t be asking me to pay him interest back knowing I’m a single mom and have $0 in my account. I was annoyed with her for replying to him acting like it was me knowing it would create more tension and drama. I’m not a victim and I don’t want to use the single mother excuse to make people feel bad for me.
I asked other people for advice on what I should do and they all said to ignore him until AFTER I paid him back because every time I offered an explanation and apology for being late, I would get called a liar. The last 2 days before my check cleared, I ignored his texts after to avoid escalating drama and making him more upset. I was planning on replying to him only after I sent the money so he wouldn’t think I’m making up excuses as he’s accused me of doing so. It turns out that was the wrong move because it made him even more pissed off. He called me a liar, thief and said I stole from him. I’m not a liar or thief and I would never use someone or intentionally hurt them. My mother raised me better than that.
Now that my check finally cleared and I have money in my account, I was able to pay him back what I owed plus interest. He reported me on this sub for not paying him back on time which is okay with me because after how much severe anxiety this has caused, I NEVER want to borrow money from anyone ever again. I wish I stayed hungry that night and went to my moms in the morning to get food so I wouldn’t have had to borrow money from this man and avoided all this drama. I wish I could have paid him back in time but I had $0 up until now and couldn’t, which I do feel bad about, but I don’t appreciate being called nasty names and harassed throughout the entire day, every single day for not paying back in time. I paid him back right after my check cleared because I felt so shitty for being late.
He acted like because I owed him $20, that he owned me and I was obligated to respond to his messages immediately, and would get frustrated if I would respond hours later because my phone would be in my locker at work or I would be tending to my infant, which is why he felt the need to make that story up on the borrow sub. Although I did pay back my loan, I’m still worried because he has my full name and address and I don’t know what he’s capable of doing. Anyways, I just wanted to explain my side of the story since because are sending me messages calling me names and accusing me of horrible things for thinking I didn’t pay the lender back. I learned my lesson and whoever got this far into my post, please don’t be as stupid as I was to share your phone number and photo of your ID with random people on the internet, even if you are borrowing money from them. That is all.

2023.06.09 21:23 23027 I Began Collecting (Story)
Im really struggling to keep interest in games today. There is truly something missing in many of the storylines that cater to mature minds, but more importantly in the strategy of gameplay. I miss solid single player story mode gaming. I understand why companies have shifted in the direction we have mainly today, but it's really not something that satisfies me. The entire HL series was so significant to me growing up. I just recently have been diving back into these titles and I've been starting to look around to buy the games that were so life changing to me. I'm beginning to see more value investing into my old games rather than new titles today. I miss that excitement I used to carry with me walking into London Drugs, walking into the all mighty Computer lair lit up with blue fluorescent lighting, and seeing an entire wall of beautifully displayed games, advertising themselves through their box artwork. This was the modern day vinyl album of the computer world. You could spend over an hour looking at the different boxes with the gameplay screenshots and written summaries of what you could expect from each title, like you might do cruising through a book store searching for that perfect read to take home and invest yourself into. Or the Video Rental store and walking through the isles, quickly studying each movie box cover for the one that would catch your eye, draw you in with curiosity. Game developers used to put effort into their boxes, because it was their own advertising. I didn't look in an online store, I wouldn't shop through mobile apps. There were no "content creators" getting the word out there. My friend circle word of mouth recommendations and the odd PC Gamer magazine would give me some idea of what to hunt for, and visiting the store and holding these damn boxes is what always made me bring them home with me. I'll never forget that experience, being driven home with my newly cherished game. Feverishly reading the manual so I could install it the second I got back to my desktop rig. Analyzing the unique cd-key that was uniquely my very own and would be protected at any cost, as if it was a top secret Switzerland bank account number. (The satisfaction when you input the key, amen.) Pouring over every word and studying each photo on the box, creatively imagining exactly how incredible my experience playing these games would be. Playing them off this hype was sensational. Little would I realize at the time that this method, build up to playing a game would forever be changed by our advancement into the online shopping world and before I realized, become extinct entirely. The profit would become more important than the experience provided. I still make every effort to make sure I always obtain a physical copy of each game I buy today (Series X and Switch) but it's just not the same. No game manuals. Tiny cases. There is no build up between seeing the game on the shelf and bringing it home for me anymore. I'm sad at the thought of future kids never experiencing things the way I did. I suppose my parents generation felt this way with vinyl (which I have also begun, along with VHS. What wonderful worlds!) Anywho.. So after spending some time and money investing into my N64 and PS2 collection, I've made my first vintage PC title purchase and I think it's been the perfect start. I managed to find someone selling a Half Life Platinum Collection complete box set, for only $10 CAD. Local to me, picked a location I knew very well. I figured there would be some missing bits, the photos included didn't show much and looked more like a pixelated online screenshot of the box art. No big deal, if the CD's were there with the cases I would be happy, or if it's totally complete then it must be a typo, probably $100. That's fine. I was prepared to spend the money anyways. We meet up, and it's the complete box, all game cd's, cases, manuals. LEGIT. Minty condition! I conservatively hand him a crisp purple $10 bill (Canada money, lol) "Ten bucks, yeah?" Fully expecting him to realize he's made an error in his posting and to correct me. Nope! "Perfect! Thanks! Have a great evening!" I'm walking back to my vehicle and thought "what if...", so I quickly flagged him down as he was getting back into his vehicle "Hey, i forgot to ask. Do you happen to have more old games you're looking to get rid of? I'm starting to collect games I used to play growing up and would love to buy whatever you might have" He says "Actually, I have 3 more of these. They're in the car right now! I bought 4 of them so that I could LAN party with my wife and 2 kids when they were growing up. We don't play these old games anymore though, they like Fortnite and Apex so we don't have a use for these anymore on our new machines." "Wow, that's really cool! You must have had so much fun together. You want $10 for each one?" "Sure!" "I'll take them all." He and his wife proceeded to start opening all the boxes, to show me that each box was complete with every CD, manual, and that each CD was in fact inside each CD case. I explained that I trust them, and they insisted that they always make sure for each transaction they are fully transparent because it gives them peace of mind. Good honest people! It was during this time when the vivid spectrum of each and every CD colour were being made seen to my naked eye as proof (politely, I will say) that we ventured into some small talk. 4 CD's per box, 4 boxes. There was time. I enjoy small talk with strangers anyways. They begin asking how I knew the area because anyone else they've met there always struggled to locate it. Explained I grew up there, and where I went to school. They asked which high school, and what year I graduated. Their oldest daughter was sitting in the back seat and when she heard, spun around backwards to ask "What's your last name!?". I asked her what year she graduated, it was 2 years before me (I graduated high school in 2008) and I said "I think you graduated with my little brother. Do you know first + last name??? She freaked out with excitement that we had made this wild connection into her past. I pointed to the vehicle I came in and said "he's sitting in that car right now!" Door flies open, she runs up to the vehicle and we're all excitedly chatting away for 10 minutes before we wrap it up with a few hugs. She'd known my brother pretty well through school (same grad class) and ended up being his manager when he worked at McDonalds for a couple years back in the day. Went along with life and lost touch until that night! Turns out their family owns an internet Cafe which better explained how they came into these games in the first place. When LAN gaming was a big deal! So yeah! Overall I'm incredibly pleased how this all came to be. It almost felt like it was meant to happen this way, as if this symbolic warm and safe figure was holding the door open for me, making sure my doubts investing money in "nice to have" items in my life during financial hard times were met with some luck and reassurance that it would be worth the small setback.. "Come right along little one, you are safe here with us." The quest continues.. submitted by 23027 to HalfLife [link] [comments]
2023.06.09 20:32 pearlie88 Cuisinart stand mixer sm-50r head wobbles when mixing dough?
Hello! Not sure if this is the appropriate place to post my question, but I'm making a King Arthur's French country style bread and noticed my stand mixers head wobbling when mixing the dough, I've looked on Google and YouTube to see if i can fix it but have not been able to find an answer. I mostly see KitchenAid answers about a neck pin or hinge pin, I've searched on my stand mixer, regardless of the brand but I don't see anything so can someone help me? I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

2023.06.09 20:13 Ardlantis Beoplay h8i battery replacement
Has anyone here attempted a beoplay h8i battery replacement? The battery life on mine is deteriorating quickly and I can find some replacement batteries online, but no teardowns or repair manuals anywhere. I'm comfortable working inside electronics but for my headphones I'd quite like to know what exactly I have to remove to get to the battery. So, has anyone tried this or does anyone know of a repair manual existing?

2023.06.09 19:55 I_AM_NOT_A_WOMBAT Standalone ER605 v2: Custom DDNS response?
I'm using the ER605 custom DDNS with a script I've created on a remote server. I have it set to update every hour, and it works.
However, in the remote server logs it shows 5 requests to my script, once per minute, and then waits for an hour. So they cluster like this:
[09/Jun/2023:09:36:08 -0700] "GET /remote-ddns... (my script) [09/Jun/2023:09:37:10 -0700] "GET /remote-ddns... [09/Jun/2023:09:38:11 -0700] "GET /remote-ddns... [09/Jun/2023:09:39:12 -0700] "GET /remote-ddns... [09/Jun/2023:09:40:14 -0700] "GET /remote-ddns... [09/Jun/2023:09:41:15 -0700] "GET /remote-ddns...
It looks to me like the router
thinks the update is failing, and it tries 5 times before giving up. I think it's looking for a return code or text to indicate success, but there's nothing in the manual to indicate what that text or string would be. So far I've tried "HTTP/1.1 200 OK" (as a header alone), along with "OK", "Online" (which is what the manual shows for other providers), "good", and "success", and it still always tries 5 updates.
I wonder if anyone else has insight into the custom DDNS system and what it is looking for as a return code? I don't care how often it tries to update, but once is enough and I'm concerned that a future update might break something if it thinks the update has failed.

2023.06.09 19:33 BarakHaver Pizza dough failed to raise
Hi all, Little intro - I’ve been making and baking pizza’s for about 2.5 years now, and I finally decided to upgrade by buying the Ankarsram 6230 (Till now I had a simple KitchenAid and 2 KitchenHands 😄). A couple of days ago I used the Ankarsram for the first time, and for some super odd reason, my dough didn’t rise. It was like the yeast were dead, even though I tested them and they were fine. This is the recipe I created: - 700g flour - 420g cold water (10 degree celsius) - 1g yeast - 21g salt - 14g olive oil The way I made it was: Wet ingredients + yeast in the Ankarsram’s bowl first, then let it spin till the yeast dissolves. Add the flour little at a time. Add the salt. Let the mixer kneed it for around 8-10 minutes. Out of the bowl for a rest of 30 minutes and then 2-3 folds, once more, bulk rise in cold storage for 12 hours, out of the refrigerator for 30 minutes, split the bulk in to balls and back to the refrigerator for 24 hours, took it out 2-3 hours before baking (room temperature of 20 degrees) and for some reason everything was flat… Did I do something wrong in the process? P.S. - New reddit’er here so I hope I’m not missing anything in this post. submitted by BarakHaver to Pizza [link] [comments]
2023.06.09 19:32 paintballer4lfe Starlink sec cam YT stream issues
Not really sure where else to post this as I don't really use ffmpeg (OBS is as fara s that goes technically). I'm having some strange issues and I'm really not sure if it's an ffmpeg thing or just Youtube being Youtube.
So it's a remote location using Starlink (raft company I do free side work for), they have a security camera pointing at the river to show their raft drop and of course the amazing mountain scenery. Everyday (usually) around 2/3/4am Starlink causes a link negotiation to happen as it drops connection ffmpeg of course freaks out and usually crashes. I have a bash script that loops and waits for a few successful pings to my public IP and once that happens ffmpeg strarts the stream back up. Generally it works well, the streams have stayed up for multiple days at times but there's this ongoing issue I have no clue what to do about.
Usually after the restart it comes back and the live stream shows on youtube, about 50% of the time the stream comes back and when you go to the live page on the channel itself it shows the stream as "excellent" HOWEVER it doesn't actually show the stream nor list it on the channel. I have to manually stop and restart the stream while the go live page is open and that's the only way to get it online.
Is this most likely a Youtube thing or is ffmpeg possibly sending bad data during these reboots and it just happens to send good data when I'm manually restarting it? (literally ctrl+c then restart the script everytime).
I should also mention I do get a handful of these types of error outputs from ffmpeg but they don't seem to impact the stream to my knowledge.
[h264 @ 0x56298c130440] error while decoding MB 33 36, bytestream -112735.8kbits/s dup=0 drop=28 speed= 1x [h264 @ 0x56298c130440] concealing 6496 DC, 6496 AC, 6496 MV errors in P frame rtsp://user:[email protected]/raw/ch1/main/stream: corrupt decoded frame in stream 0 [h264 @ 0x56298c13bc00] Increasing reorder buffer to 3:27.95 bitrate=2735.3kbits/s dup=0 drop=28 speed= 1x [h264 @ 0x56298bff1b80] error while decoding MB 46 59, bytestream -9=2734.8kbits/s dup=0 drop=35 speed= 1x [h264 @ 0x56298bff1b80] concealing 3171 DC, 3171 AC, 3171 MV errors in P frame rtsp://user:[email protected]/raw/ch1/main/stream: corrupt decoded frame in stream 0 [flv @ 0x56298bfde700] Failed to update header with correct duration.2735.0kbits/s dup=0 drop=55 speed= 1
Here is the ffmpeg arguments I'm currently using
ffmpeg -rtsp_transport tcp -i rtsp://user:[email protected]/raw/ch1/main/stream -vcodec h264 -preset fast -maxrate 2600k -bufsize 2200k -g 30 -tune zerolatency -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -f flv rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/xxxxxxxxxxxx
Side note about using TCP - if I leave it as UDP the video has a ton of grey frames and bad video frames. Going to chalk it up as the security camera being a security camera. The zerolatency tune was added recently, hasn't really had any impact.

2023.06.09 19:18 0321Reddit ORV: "Your trailer is a recreational vehicle and not intended, nor manufactured, as a permanent residence" - are any?
lurker for a few months, disappointed in the options we have in 2023. we were supposed to have flying cars by now, and instead all i see are RV bathrooms with materials that are damaged by water...right by the shower and sink!
i figure
FullTiming and
GoRVing are my best bet, but i really can't find the 'perfect' travel trailer. these aren't crazy wants, but what i think most people would desire for recreation or residence. this was sparked by my Winnebago manual that says something like 'only intended for weekend trips and not full-time occupancy' and was further incensed by Outdoors RV manuals (supposedly ORV is a company that makes a 4-season travel trailer, yet they use the same lines) stating as the title of this thread shows,
"Note: Your trailer is a recreational vehicle and not intended , nor manufactured, as a permanent residence." (from 2017 manual online)
- quality travel trailers should have insulation for summer and winter, with enclosed/heated tanks. i see Grand Design, ORV, Lance, inTech, BigFoot, ArcticFox, and Imperial Outdoors all have varying levels of insulation, but it seems only the $70,000-$155,000 campers are explicit about having ratings of -40F to 140F.
- full-timing should be an option, at the least. i know there are legal reasons why a manual would say 'don't live in this full-time' but that's wholly different than if the RV was designed to be capable. i really don't believe there is a difference between spending 2 full days in the winter inside a camper, and spending 365 days in nice weather. the problems of mold, humidity, CO2, CO, etc. are all going to be much worse for 2 days cooped-up in an ORV for a ski/ice-fishing trip than they will be for my lifestyle of being outside a lot, and going inside for sleep or when mosquitoes are around. what's the difference? legal reasons could be a disclaimer; ORV is specifically saying the trailer wasn't manufactured for fulltiming. are any campers/companies actually standing behind their product, other than the 156k ROAMER-1 by Imperial Outdoors/ROA? i'm not buying a 100k new trailer, and i don't have the skills to oversee a cargo trailer custom-built by a stranger with 12V A/C and solar.
- i see giant 5th wheels like Arctic Fox are insulated and seem to be closest to what should be the industry standard, but i want something 20-30 feet long because i want to actually be able to drive under bridges and get into national parks/forest land. i don't understand what i'm missing between the apparent choices of 200k RV that you can't take anywhere, and pop-ups by Conqueror that don't have insulation or dry baths. can anyone steer me in the right direction for something livable that actually has ground clearance, weight under 10k#, cost under $100k USD, real insulation, a dry bath (Laveo dry-flush toilet is fine if it has an actual private place for it), and a queen bed that 2 people can actually use? i'm open to Toy Haulers with the bed going up during the day, but it seems like all Toy Haulers even by inTech have 1,300# tongue weights and are massive/heavy/long and thus unable to actually go anywhere remote.
- and what's with the lack of solar prep, Starlink prep, etc.? really, only a handful of models are thinking about this, even post-COVID-lockdowns?
if anyone is working remotely with 2 humans and a dog, wanting a simple Queen bed and actual enclosed shower, with insulated tanks/lines, please let me know! i've been intrigued by the inTech Terra Rover, but it is only 3-season!! so weird. anyone else? the closest is the ROAMER-1 but i don't need a $156k moon lander that can siphon a creek for water filtration :P there's gotta be something in the middle that has full-time capability, right?

2023.06.09 19:01 Nice_Ant_5044 Family BS I want to air out to the public
A bit of background before my story begins. I live with my (emotionally abusive) parents, an older sister and a younger brother. My sister and I do not speak to my brother. My brother has a history of destructive behavior (has punched many holes in walls and other things), he's misused/caused damage to so many of my belongings, and he is also the golden child, my parents are exhausted by him but never follow through on any of the consequences they tell him they will. I feel its also important to mention that I have also always been the scapegoat of my family. Last weekend I (25 F) pulled out my KitchenAid stand mixer out for a little project and found the bowl had been pretty badly dented (it got hit with my childhood metal softball bat) and the whisk attachment bent completely flat. I was distraught and immediately knew that my brother (23 M) had been the one to cause the damage. I went to my parents because I knew if I went to my brother and confronted him he would deny it and a huge fight would ensue. They felt bad for me and said they would talk to him and do what they could to get him to admit it. To no one's surprise he refused at first but them came clean. My parents said they would replace it, have my brother get a job to pay them back for it and he would apologize to me (they were also told many times that I did not want to be blindsided by this apology and that I wanted a set time and place for it to happen). My parents told me the next morning that he agreed to apologize but needed a few days to do so, then spent the majority of the conversation trying to justify his behavior by saying things like "he's got a lot of shit going on" and "he did it on his birthday , he was going through some things and he did it impulsively" this is just the current variation of my parents bullshit for the shit that he pulls. On Wednesday my brother apologized to me without warning, my parents didn't do anything to stop it and just said that we would talk about it more later. Fast forward to yesterday (6/8) my sister and I were talking when my mother came into the room. My sister knows how devastated I am about this and was upset about the apology bomb that happened. My sister calmly asked my mother how that happened and immediately got defensive about it. She said that they hadn't had a chance to tell my bother that the plan was to do it on Thursday evening after dinner. My mother explained that when she tried to talk to him he said that he didn't want to talk about it that moment because they were trying to figure out what to have for dinner. My sister tried to get my mother to understand that since he was the one to pause the conversation he knew there was more to discuss and just chose to drop the apology on me anyways. She started fighting with my mother about how this whole time it seems they have been more concerned with my brothers feelings/well being rather than mine, the person who had their things destroyed. This caused my mother to go into a full blown shouting spree, she said that my sister and I have nothing to show for our lives, nothing to show for the people who love us and that if we are so upset about the things happening that we should "just go and get out". Neither my sister or I have plans to speak to her for now, and it's 50/50 with my father, he has a habit of telling us he sees where were coming from and that my mother should have never said the things she does but when it comes down to it, sides with her and nothing changes. I feel so numb at this point, I don't know what to do. I apologize for the long post, there was way more that happened but I didn't want to make this an essay basically. My family history is so fucked up and complicated, so if this seems like its not a big deal please know this is literally 25 years in the making of my parents abusive crap and 15 years of my brothers.

2023.06.09 18:41 steve2118ace i5-13600KF Poor Performance
Troubleshooting Help:
**What is your parts list? Parts List:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZfWm4s Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive. Just upgraded my system to an i5-13600KF with a B760 motherboard, and 32GB of 6400CL34 RAM.
I noticed that my temps were extremely high, so I did a cooler remount and the problem persisted. After some research, I found that MSI boards will set the CPU Lite Load extremely high, with recommendations online to set it between 1-9. I also double checked that XMP is enabled.
At stock, I get the expected ~24k in cenebench R23 with thermal throttling from the extremely high voltages.
The problem I have run into is that changing CPU Lite Load in any way significantly decreases performance. Anything except for the auto setting effectively halves the cinebench score. At stock, the chip will request as high as 1.4V at stock settings. I've read that you should be able to undervolt these chips into the range of 1.2V. Any voltage offset or manual setpoint lower than 1.3V also effectively nukes the performance of the chip. All of my P-Cores boost to the expected 5.1, but the E-Cores are only boosting to 2.8-3.0 instead of 3.9. I also set their clock multiplier to 39 in the BIOS but it doesn't seem to have an effect.
Is there some other settings I should be paying attention to or adjusting in the MSI bios? I am on the latest BIOS and Intel Management Engine
Is there a chance I have a bad chip/board?
Thanks!

2023.06.09 17:55 pplante19 Sharing my recent experience with network IoT devices
Hi everyone, not asking anything, but I just wanted to share my recent experience with my network and IoT devices mainly.
First, let's just establish some points about my setup;
- I have a fairly large house, about 4,000 square feet.
- My walls are thick and made of stones and cement material. Also, my window are thick (north of Quebec province, Canada), so WiFi does not pass easily through windows.
- I want access to my garage, but also in my yard, but my terrain is 60,000 square feet.
- My previous system consisted of 1 x Asus RT-AC88U (main router and inside the home) and 2 x Asus RT-AC5300 (one inside the garage and the second one inside the home, at the other end), all wired.
- I have about 60 to 70 devices connected at all time (computers, Nest, smart bulbs, smart plugs, NAS, smartphones, etc.)
- I only have one neighbour and I can barely see his network (-90 dBm), so barely no interference from there, besides that, it's only me.
I tried several things, but I had bad internet from outside (everyday several smart bulbs around the house were disconnecting) and inside the house, it was better, but it happened too.
I tried Ai Mesh from Asus, didn't work well either, no better results. The better results I was able to get is let my main router (AC88U) act as the DHCP and main routing device while the 2 other ones were acting as access points broadcasting their own SSID unique SSID and operating on their own channels (1, 6 and 11 for 2.4 Ghz and 36 and 149 for 5 Ghz). It was 'ok', but not ideal.
Just to say, a lot of my smart bulbs use the Smart Life app, and one of my main issue is that it was laggy when trying to manually open/close a bulb or plug, even trying to see the device properties was painful, it took minutes, and often, it didn't work, it closed and I had to click on it again just to see properties. So either my smart bulbs sucked or my network was the issue. I tried different brands, same results. The, during my purchases, I tried Sengled smart bulbs, the one that need a smart hub. I bought 3 of these hubs + 6 smart bulbs and they always worked 100% of the time when bulbs were placed somewhat near the hub..., so..., the network was the issue, especially wireless network.
I had the AC88U for quite some time, about 6 years or so and had the 2 x 5300 for about 3 years, so it was maybe time for an upgrade. So I bought this gear;
- A TL-R605 TP-Link VPN router (mechanical room)
- A TL-SG108PE PoE switch (mechanical room)
- 1 x EAP225 v3 access point (east of the house, indoor, PoE)
- 1 x EAP670 v1 access point (west of the house, indoor, PoE)
- 2 x EAP225-Outdoor access points (1 x mounted on garage, outdoor, PoE and 1 x on the other end of the terrain, outdoor, PoE)
So I removed everything Asus and installed all this on my network and all over my house and..., while broadcasting was better outside, as predicted since I passed from one RT5300 inside my garage to 2 x EAP-225-Outdoor located well..., outdoor, I still had performances issues, disconnected devices, etc., it was disappointing considering my investment.
Then, I read, I read A LOT about the subject and starting to see something here : I had just too many devices on my 2.4 Ghz network per channel. I also saw on the Omada software that I had a lot of interference on the 2.4 Ghz band.
The first thing I saw is that my Google Nest devices (I have 4) were all on the 2.4 Ghz network, but 'should' be ok on the 5 Ghz band. I then saw that some Nest devices would not work correctly on 5 Ghz network if it wasn't on channel 36 (below 100), so I made my EAP670 work on channel 36 and voilà, I could join all my Nest devices to the 5 Ghz band, removing 5 devices on the 2.4 Ghz.
Then my security cameras (5), instead of running on the 2.4 Ghz, I changed them to be PoE devices. Again, removing 5 devices on the 2.4 Ghz band.
I looked again on the Omada software and by only removing 10 devices, interference was lower, but still there.
I then changed other smart bulbs (4) and smart plus (2) that were on the 2.4 Ghz band onto Sengled, which is a wired hub and communicate to that hub with another non-interfering band. -6 devices removed from 2.4 band.
I used WiFi analyzer on my smartphone to move around the house and manually choose the best 2.4 Ghz band for each access point (made that too for my 5 Ghz network at the same time) inside the Omada controller. I also enabled things like fast roaming, band steering, load balancing. The same SSID is used all across access points but with different channels as stated before.
I might have made 1-2 more small things here and there, but at the end of the day, the results are that everything works like a charm now. I have no disconnected devices for days, not at all in fact since those changes were made, all devices have great reception and, on top of that, my Smart Life app which control my smart IoT devices, is blazing fast !
If I look inside Omada, I have about 1 % interference inside my 2.4 Ghz network, peak being 2 % and my 5 Ghz is at 0 %, peak being 1 %. My packet retries and packet drop are also really, really low. I can walk around and see my device passing from AP to AP without an issue, signal is always stellar.
My conclusion is, and I'm no expert, just an enthusiast;
- As much as you can, wire everything.
- Separate the 2.4 network from the 5 Ghz to be sure what you're using.
- Try to keep it under 10 operating 2.4 Ghz device per access point/channel, higher than that I saw the interference getting higher
- Avoid the 2.4 Ghz band..., as much as you can, put everything that can on the 5 Ghz band
- Don't buy 2.4 Ghz exclusive Wifi, try to find them for the 5 Ghz band, working with a wired hub or wired IoT devices.
- If you have more than one access point, make sure to use different channels on each of them so it won't interfere with each other and will balance device per channel on both bands.
There are other things I will try (separate vlans/SSID for remaining IoT devices), but as it is, my setup is running like a charm, could be better, but honestly, it's working great like it is.
Again, I'm not an expert, but I read a lot and made several tests and this is where my journey has led me, a perfect working network with no interference, no disconnection and blazing fast internet. My 2 sons even told me that their online gaming was way better, more stable. Before all this, they had hangups here and there. They play on the 5 Ghz network since no wires goes inside their rooms.
I might have forgotten something, but this is the main story, hope it can help someone. If there's question, I would gladly respond to them the best I can.

2023.06.09 17:47 datanodes [25M, Canadian] Completely lost, graduated from engineering, can't get a job even with interviews. Don't know what to do anymore.
I graduated from university in 2021, with two degrees, one in Mechatronics and the other in Astrophysics. COVID kinda messed up being able to get a job immediately and I did not do an internship during school (should have). I worked on a flower farm following school until that fall. I was thinking of going to grad school during this time either for something in the STEM field. I got accepted at UofT for a Masters degree but ultimately withdrew in the first week as my already-present doubts about what I was doing finally rose to the surface. I have now since Sept 2022 been trying to get a job. I had a fair number of interviews (including multi-rounds) but never seemed to be selected. I unfortunately have become relatively depressed with my situation and am at wit's end. I am trying to network but I am having a mental block on finding what fields I would be interested in. I have been trying to learn web dev but IMO that seems like it will take some time. I just want to get on with my life and not work manual labour with university degrees. ATM I tutor people online.
My interests including music, film, history, politics, "the news" (lol), programming, science and philosophy, as well as helping people (whether through direct action or making something).
Does anyone have advice on how I could start networking in order to get myself visible to people and show them that I am bright and ready to learn / work. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Any questions I will try to answer to the best of my ability in a timely manner.
Here is my redacted resume. submitted by

2023.06.09 17:34 FyrstrHrafn Can you use Kill team datasheets in 40K?
Hey everyone, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but figured I should ask anyway. I got two boxes of the "Kill Team: Blooded" set yesterday for use in 40K, but I noticed that there was no information on the stats of the unit in the instruction manual; normally boxes come with datasheets that list the stats for units and their weapons but so far I've only been able to find information about them online. I found two different sources. One in PDF form that only lists the Enforcer and a standard Traitor Guard, the other is on Wahapedia and lists all the different variants with stuff like shields or melee weapons. Does anyone know if these are meant to be exclusive to each game? Battlescribe definitely doesn't have the extra variants for the 40K squad, but does have them in the Kill Team version. My assumption is that the variants are only for Kill Team, but I'd like to know for sure before I start working on them. I'd appreciate any clarification on this! I'm leaning towards building the variants regardless since they look so much cooler, but I also want to avoid making things confusing for anybody that I play with in the future. submitted by FyrstrHrafn to killteam [link] [comments]
