Hey all, I recently went through a breakup with my partner of 1 year who said she was struggling with depression near the end, and after my therapist mentioned breakups are rarely out of the blue, I find myself wondering if the breakup was due to her depression, or disinterest.
We started going out a year ago, it was both of ours first relationship, and things were pretty slow moving. We were never really physical with each other, would would spend hours talking on our dates, usually we’d find a place to sit and talk.
5 months in: I asked where this was going, she said she wanted a relationship but was scared of having one, that she had insecurities to work on. (She was bullied when younger, and seemed to struggle with body image issues too) She said she thought I just saw her as a friend, I told her I didn’t. She said she had 0 interest in multiple people. She made a joke that if we were taking our relationship to the next level, I’d have to think her friend was amazing too, but we never used the bf/gf labels.
10 months in: she mentioned she gets depressed sometimes, that she cries on her way to work bc being out and about feels so wrong. She doesn’t go to therapy and says she struggles to take care of herself, but I didn’t push the issue.
12 months in: After about a month she says she was feeling better, but a little later she mentioned she was spiraling. I thought it was short term and work related, didn’t think it was depression since she says it usually happened once a year. But I wasn’t seeing her or hearing from her nearly as much.
I asked her about it and she says that she genuinely just doesn’t have things to say, and that applies to everyone. I also was seeing her once every 3 weeks/month at this point, and when I bought it up she says sometimes she has to work (she works 6 days as a babysitter) to pay the bills. I used to see her every sunday, and hear from her via text much more frequently, but now I guess she occasionally works on sundays too? She said if she needs the work she takes it.
A little later on, she says that a year ago, she was in a good place, but now is drained. She said she feels tired and sad all of the time, and is just living day to day. She can’t see further than 6 months out, and just wants her laundry done. She then said maybe I need someone more on the same page as me.
When she broke up with me, she said she didn’t want to let me go bc she thought I was a good person and enjoyed seeing me, but didn’t want to feel like such a bad person every time she couldn’t come out. To me, this felt like out of the blue, bc I still wanted to see if we could work things out.
Given all of this, does it seem like it was the depression that came between us, or was she just disinterested in me and was trying to let me down easy?

Thanks all, I've never dealt with depression myself so I'm trying to see things from another point of view, but after my therapist suggested she might be disinterested I find myself questioning things.

My uncle passed away last week. He was my dad's brother. My parents divorced when I was about 3-ish, and in my mother did everything she could to completely destroy my relationship with my dad and his entire side of the family. Growing up, I thought my dad was evil incarnate. She told me horrific story after horrific story. She would throw huge tantrums whenever he would call/send gifts and make every birthday/holiday a nightmare. This behavior extended to all of my paternal family. She told me they were all evil, abusive and that none of them cared about me at all. I "woke up" when I moved out for college, and eventually realized that everything I had been told about my family was not true and restored my relationship with my Dad and all of my paternal relatives. They are wonderful people. I feel so happy and at ease with them, its totally unlike being with most of my maternal relatives. Unfortunately, my dad passed away three very short years later. Colon cancer. The pain I still feel many years after his death is unspeakable. I don't think the pain of it will ever be healed in this lifetime, and now that my uncle has passed it's so much worse.
Aside from my dad, of all my paternal relatives, I was closest with this uncle. He was always so funny and empathetic. I always enjoyed going over to his house and hanging out with him, my aunt and cousins. When my mom found out that I had restored contact with them, she magically got it in her head that she and this uncle had always been super best friends and that he had stood up for her when my dad was beating her lie lie lie lie lie lie. For nearly 10 years she had tried to reiterate this lie to me, and I never played along like she wanted me to. She knew I was regularly in contact with him. How could she think I never discussed everything she did? My uncle HATED her. He hated everything she did to me, to him, and to his entire family. He was hurt by everything I went through and by the loss of the many years we could have had a relationship.
Two days before he passed away, he made it a point to tell me that despite all that had happened, even after he was gone, that I would always have a family. After he had passed on, he was still my family. My aunt was still my family and my cousins were still my family. I would always have a family. These words meant so much. After having my family stolen from me, the reassurance that I will always have one ... I just can't put into words the emotions I have. I am forever grateful that he said them.
I had no intention of telling her that he passed away, but she stalks his facebook and found out. She then sent me this message: "Dad (meaning my step-dad she tried to replace my *actual* dad with) and I just heard that (uncle) passed. I'm so sorry for your loss. He was such a good guy. If there's anything I can do to support you or his family please let us know. Hugs!"
To someone who doesn't know all the background, this appears so kind and polite. But it's clear as day what she wants. Insteading of leaving me alone and allowing me space to grieve, she wants me to play along with her lies, to reaffirm that she has me totally blind to reality and within her control. After everything she put me and my family through, how does she have the AUDACITY to say this to me? My fellow survivors of alienation, do you see what I see?

Stock futures are little changed Thursday as rally pauses: Live updates

Stock futures were flat on Thursday, as investors awaited the next market catalyst and digested the recent rally in stocks.
Futures linked to the S&P 500 ticked higher by 0.01%, while Nasdaq 100 futures inched down by 0.01%. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained just 2 points.
GameStop shares tumbled roughly 19%. The video game retailer fired its CEO Matthew Furlong and appointed Ryan Cohen as its executive chairman.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are coming off a down session. The broad-market index closed 0.38% lower, while the Nasdaq dropped 1.29%. The 30-stock Dow was the outlier, with a gain of 0.27% or 91.74 points.
“We’re in a bit of a news vacuum: Earnings are done, the debt ceiling is resolved, and we’re waiting for the Fed next week,” said Barbara Doran, CEO of BD8 Capital Partners on “Closing Bell: Overtime” on Wednesday. “It’s widely expected they will pause, but it’s really going to be important what their guidance is and what the [consumer price index] number on Tuesday will be and the [producer price index].”
Indeed, investors seem to be in a holding pattern while awaiting the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy meeting on June 13 and 14. Economic signs suggest that inflation is inching down, even as it remains above the central bank’s 2% target. Wage growth, for instance, is slowing. Wages rose 5.3% on an annual basis in May, down 0.4 percentage point from April, according to data from Indeed. Markets are pricing about a 66% chance that the Fed keeps rates steady at the next meeting, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.
More economic data will arrive on Thursday morning, with weekly jobless claims and wholesale inventories due.

GameStop shares tumbled roughly 19%. The video game retailer fired its CEO Matthew Furlong and appointed Ryan Cohen as its executive chairman.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are coming off a down session. The broad-market index closed 0.38% lower, while the Nasdaq dropped 1.29%. The 30-stock Dow was the outlier, with a gain of 0.27% or 91.74 points.
“We’re in a bit of a news vacuum: Earnings are done, the debt ceiling is resolved, and we’re waiting for the Fed next week,” said Barbara Doran, CEO of BD8 Capital Partners on “Closing Bell: Overtime” on Wednesday. “It’s widely expected they will pause, but it’s really going to be important what their guidance is and what the [consumer price index] number on Tuesday will be and the [producer price index].”
Indeed, investors seem to be in a holding pattern while awaiting the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy meeting on June 13 and 14. Economic signs suggest that inflation is inching down, even as it remains above the central bank’s 2% target. Wage growth, for instance, is slowing. Wages rose 5.3% on an annual basis in May, down 0.4 percentage point from April, according to data from Indeed. Markets are pricing about a 66% chance that the Fed keeps rates steady at the next meeting, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.
More economic data will arrive on Thursday morning, with weekly jobless claims and wholesale inventories due.

3 years of BFS last week guess I could post an update.
I have seen 3 neuros in total, last one 6 months ago. All visits were pretty much a waste of time and money as they didn't offer any valuable insight into bfs or treatment. I also had an emg but I don't think that helped in any way either.
The evolution of my symptoms.
I would say 90% of my symptoms is still fasciculations. I had some phases where other symptoms were more prevalent but they didn't last for long. I had a phase with a fair amount of pain (unexplainable pains that came in waves in random locations and at random times, just like (but not directly correlated to) the twitching). However, haven't had any significant bfs-related pain in at least one year.
I more recently went through a phase with heightened hypnic jerks. Haven't had much trouble with them in the past couple of months, but I had a couple of nights where I had a really hard time falling asleep due to them. (Took me several hours to fall asleep).
I have had a pretty much constant hotspot under my right eye for the past 7-8 months. It has disappeared for the past few days, but it has done so before and always came back. When it's active it never stops for a single second for days a time. It's not as annoying as other twitches though.
All in all, I would say the frequency of my twitching has increased over time on average. This is making it harder for me to accept living with this condition for the rest of my life. No other significant bfs-related symptoms other than the ones I mentioned.
I have tried pretty much any suggestion or remedy and they didn't affect bfs in any way. Not only that, but it doesn't seem to be related to anything else going on in my life. Food, sleep, mood, exercise, supplements, drugs, weather, etc. Bfs just doesn't give a shit, it has a life of its own within my body.

I have a feeling that given that aspects to continuous employment such as building up annual leave entitlement, get carried over to a new job, things like your sickness record also stick with you?
I essentially suffered a workplace injury and am pretty much at the point of half sick pay within my current job. Although I am back in now, but not fully recovered. Partly because of how poorly I've been treated in terms of adjustments to get me back into work or the lack thereof, I've been looking for other jobs. Eg doctors suggested I work shorter days while I recover, but the CS decided I'm unfit for work if I can't do a full days work and HR declared me unfit for work and I got sent home and accumulated more sick. The illogical thing is that I have an operational role and it's the type of thing where you just need to complete tasks as fast as possible. And we can't just hire agency staff in to help out due to training required. Overtime requests went out because we were short staffed. It's not like I have project work that I can finish when I return or deadlines can be extended. So I was hoping to work during the time of day when people take their breaks, when I'd be most useful.
But I'm worried that if I stay in the CS then my sickness record will be sticking with me and I'll be screwed if I get sick with anything else in the next 3 years?

There is literally not enough time to play all I have planned and the situation is not getting better anytime soon.
I just started a nomap, noportal server with my bois, haven't played since before caverns were realised and now I want to invest more time. I want to build a village and finish current content. And the bloody game is not even finished. Gotta get back to it in couple years again!

Stock futures are little changed Thursday as rally pauses: Live updates

Stock futures were flat on Thursday, as investors awaited the next market catalyst and digested the recent rally in stocks.
Futures linked to the S&P 500 ticked higher by 0.01%, while Nasdaq 100 futures inched down by 0.01%. Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained just 2 points.
GameStop shares tumbled roughly 19%. The video game retailer fired its CEO Matthew Furlong and appointed Ryan Cohen as its executive chairman.
The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite are coming off a down session. The broad-market index closed 0.38% lower, while the Nasdaq dropped 1.29%. The 30-stock Dow was the outlier, with a gain of 0.27% or 91.74 points.
“We’re in a bit of a news vacuum: Earnings are done, the debt ceiling is resolved, and we’re waiting for the Fed next week,” said Barbara Doran, CEO of BD8 Capital Partners on “Closing Bell: Overtime” on Wednesday. “It’s widely expected they will pause, but it’s really going to be important what their guidance is and what the [consumer price index] number on Tuesday will be and the [producer price index].”
Indeed, investors seem to be in a holding pattern while awaiting the Federal Reserve’s upcoming policy meeting on June 13 and 14. Economic signs suggest that inflation is inching down, even as it remains above the central bank’s 2% target. Wage growth, for instance, is slowing. Wages rose 5.3% on an annual basis in May, down 0.4 percentage point from April, according to data from Indeed. Markets are pricing about a 66% chance that the Fed keeps rates steady at the next meeting, according to the CME FedWatch Tool.
More economic data will arrive on Thursday morning, with weekly jobless claims and wholesale inventories due.

I (31f) moved to a different city 3 years ago. It’s only 2 hours away from where I’m from. I moved here because my whole family was moving here. When I moved out here it was with my boyfriend (at the time) we were together for about 4.5-5 years and our first time living together. We lived together for about a year and a half and then finally broke it off, which was long over due. We broke up right before Valentine’s Day of last year. In this most recent December I found out he hooked up with one of my best friends. This “best friend” of mine is a dude(that’s gay). I have no problem with gay people at alllllll it’s just a point in the story. This friend is somebody I want to call when I’m feeling lonely but I can’t, he’s no longer my friend at this point. I feel like I have nobody here. I kinda started seeing this new guy but he just fucks with me (mentally). I have to work 6days a week and pick up any shift I can just so I can pay my rent. I’m barely making ends meet. I feel like I’m just fucking up left and right and I just don’t know what to do anymore.
I know this doesn’t make much sense. I’m not a good writer and I’m not good at explaining things. But I’m just sad and wish I had somebody to love and support me.

Hello, I (26f) was officially diagnosed with AS in March of this year after suffering for 4 years. After a lot of discussion, my rheumatologist and I decided it was time to start a TNF drug. She put me on (Amgevita)Adalimumab and I had my first injection yesterday. After researching the drug I was really nervous that - 1. It was going to be really painful to inject 2. After the injection I would feel rubbish and not be able to do anything 3. My injection site would become really swollen, red and painful. I read a lot more negative stories about injecting than positive and even saw a TikTok of a woman crying, trying to convince herself to inject. It made me really scared and nervous to inject. So I thought I’d share my experience. The nurse who came to assist me in my injection was lovely and really supportive. After 30 minutes of conversation I injected myself with the medication in my leg and it was the biggest relief ever to feel a tiny pinch and then no pain what so ever. In my experience a jab or blood test is 100x more painful. I had a tiny red patch that had gone within an hour and then just a little bit of swelling which was gone by the morning. I haven’t felt any flu like symptoms or headache so far. I was just tired after so had a good nap. I did drink plenty of water before the appointment after reading on this group that it can help prevent a headache afterwards. Finger crossed it stays like this and that this medication will finally help improve my quality of life. I hope anyone who comes to this group who’s might be nervous about doing injections for the first time reads this and that it puts them at ease a bit.
