Consider this - you have three officers of equal experience and capability, but one is overweight, one is underweight, and the other is fit and muscular. More often than not, the fit officer is likely to command more respect and compliance, purely due to his imposing presence.
This is not to undermine the importance of character, knowledge, and experience - a lazy or timid officer, regardless of their physique, will soon lose credibility. But initial impressions do matter, and physical fitness can enhance our professional authority.
Security work can often be sedentary in nature. Long hours of sitting combined with irregular eating habits can lead to weight gain, especially if the officer does not maintain a balanced diet and exercise routine outside of work. Additionally, night shift workers may face unique challenges such as managing caffeine intake and maintaining proper eating habits, which are essential to prevent health issues like hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.
In essence, maintaining good physical health and appearance isn't just crucial for preventing illnesses; it directly impacts how we perform our duties and are perceived by those we interact with.

Hey there, so I am looking for someone who would be interested in starting a friendship/ Maybe more we will see how it goes. I have been single for a long time about 5-6 years and have been finding myself missing the closeness of being in a relationship. I like going on day trips as well, going to see historical places and museums as well as hiking and camping. I am also pretty nerdy. I have a PC and play video games mainly stratagy and survival, as well as love wacthing movies I would consider my self pretty decent when it comes to movie trivia lol. I am pretty big into Sc-fi and Fantasy, down to earth and can be pretty outgoing for the most part. Hello, around the 2nd grade, one day, I was at my uncle's house- and well- my aunt left I believe, it was at night, and I and my uncle were alone in the living room. He told me to get on his lap and proceeded to kind of, rub me on his lap while he moaned, and touched me- and I knew what he was doing- I wasn’t an idiot- despite this, I told really no one about it and life went on.
(I don’t remember him touching me anywhere else in between these two events)
Another time was around the 3rd grade, I was at my aunt and uncle's house again and we were gonna get McDonald’s. My aunt asked if I wanted to stay with her or go to McDonald’s with my uncle, I proudly exclaimed I wanted to go with him, and on the way there- he put his hand on my thigh and began rubbing it. He then started touching and rubbing my private part, and I was immediately uncomfortable with this- and tried grabbing his hand and putting my legs up and putting Them together, while he tried to touch me more, trying to squeeze his hand in between my legs.
A bit after that, he would come to me and my mom's house, and buy us dinner and we would eat and talk- which I was uncomfortable with, but I didn't tell my mom and still haven't because I was and still am scared and because I don't want to be a problem or a bother.
Here's the deal: My mom started dating him when he and my aunt divorced, around the 3rd grade too.
He bought me an expensive pair of shoes, and I didn't talk to him for a while.
Fast forward to the 4th grade, my mom started relapsing on stuff and started dating him again. I hated her. She acted like an asshole towards me, always making sexual comments about my body and everything- which continued up till this day.
She forced me to hang out with him, and most of the time, I stayed at my lovely grandparent's house- I always fought her to go with him, but most of the time, she gave up after a bit and left with him.
However, in the 5th grade, she forced me to stay at his house with her. He bought me a lot of stuff, took us to dinner and everything. He made me a room in his house, he did a lot for me. Yet, I still hated him. I didn't act rude to him because I'm a polite and nice person on average, so I just dealt with it. However, he kept slapping my ass and making sexual comments about me. I vented to my mom about how he made me feel uncomfortable and how it was wrong and everything, but she told me I was being ungrateful and I had no reason to hate him. She always said that I could tell her stuff about him, but when I did I was suddenly the bad guy. I always ranted about this to my grandma, never harshly but she would change my words and tell my mom- which f-cking sucked because she would always yell at me for it, and tell everything to her “lovely boyfriend.”

hi! maybe this is the wrong place to post but i’m desperate. my younger brother is 19 and is hellbent on finding a space where he can play his instruments all day & all night long. i understand he wants to become a famous musician but he is putting a lot of pressure on my mom to find a place. does a place like this exist where you can rent a studio to play your instruments (loudly) throughout the day and night?
for reference he does have a space to play during the day but i guess he really wants to play throughout the night as well. thanks in advance!

Oh boy, this has been tough. About 3 weeks ago my 13 yo dog (Pyrenees mix, approx 55 lbs) was bitten by a copperhead on one of her hind legs. It happened while she was using the yard at night, so I didn’t actually see it happen in the moment. I noticed the after effects a day or two later, took her to the vet, and she’s been receiving daily bandage changes since, and they’ve been removing the necrotic tissue as necessary. At first she was healing nicely, things were on track, the vet team were all optimistic, but it’s been a lot of up and down over the past week. Some of the tissue is healthy, but she has exposed tendons that are just not being healed over. We were referred to the local university vet hospital for a skin graft, but they said she still has some necrotic tissue and they couldn’t do it. It feels like we’re in an indefinite holding pattern with two options:

1. Amputate
2. Euthanize

Here’s the background: she’s 13, about to be 14, diagnosed with diabetes over 3 years ago. I know, I know, she’s old and has had a long happy life. HOWEVER, she’s still very much mentally here. She’s alert, responsive, definitely not showing any “they’ll let you know when it’s time” signs. She’s just in a lot of discomfort and pain. It’s been hard for both of us these last few weeks: her not being as mobile and active as she would like, and obviously in pain from the bottom half of her leg being basically exposed muscle and tissue underneath the layers of bandages; and for me, the general stress of caretaking alone, encouraging her to eat enough to get her insulin, carrying her up and down stairs and supporting her while she goes to the bathroom, and to be totally honest, the financial hardship of daily vet visits for 3 weeks straight. It’s added up to close to $2k so far, and we haven’t even talked about potential cost of amputation yet. I’m running out of money.
I would do anything for this girl. I just want her to feel better and be back to her normal self. With her age, I feel like logic is at odds with my heart. Am I trying to justify a selfish act to keep her around for potentially another 6 months, 1 year, maybe even 2 years? At the same time, it doesn’t feel right to say goodbye when she isn’t in a decline, but experiencing a really bad injury. Would amputation be a solution, or just put us into another extended stressful situation if she weren’t able to adapt or heal well?
Any advice or anecdotes welcome. Like I said, this has been a huge strain and I haven’t really had anyone to talk about it with besides the vet. Thank you for reading.

So, it's almost 1 month mark from my myocarditis and I've been feeling pretty ok. The only thing that seems weird is that after the whole day('m still having my sick days so I'm mostly resting or I go for a walk, walk around the garden outside) I get this weird feeling of hard time breathing at night, mostly when I change positions, when I go from laying down in bed to getting up or walking upstairs and my heart starts beating faster. I don't feel that during the day so much. Is it perhaps because I take bisoprolol in the morning and it's now least effective? I'm also taking ACE inhibitor and aldosterone agonist beside the beta blocker.

I'm tired of being alone, spending my weekend sitting at home, and just existing. But no matter what I do, nothing ever works out for me. I have tried everything to make friends at this point and nothing works. If something does happen, something always goes wrong. At this point I have a feeling its my destiny to be forever alone, and I joke that I would have better lucky winning the lottery than making good friends.
This past couple of weeks is where these feelings came to a head, and I just have been numb to everything since. I'm not sure what else I can do, because the few times I felt like I became good friends with someone, they abandon me. Ill explain, but quickly I am in my mid twenties, and the other people mentioned are within 2 or 3 of my age currently.
Firstly, I had a friend I'll call Lavender. Lavender and I were friends for 1-2 years, we met online via one of many apps, I don't recall which. But we would talk almost daily via discord. With the Occasional Video and voice chats. We were both nerds and into art, and even did a live stream where we did a drawing collab with each other. We even did a gift exchange with each other Xmas of '21. Physically we lived 90ish minutes from each other and never had a reason to meet in person, we were both busy with work/school. this was until last summer when the Ren Fest opened for the season. We decided to meet at the ren fest and spend the day there. It was a fun trip, and I bought them some horns for their birthday. Besides being nervous I don't know what could have gone wrong, but they slowly stopped responding, and I haven't heard form them in a little under a year. Even when I sent this a Xmas gift this past year. When I try to message them, I just get left on read.
This past April I matched with a person on a dating app, Lets call them Violet. Violet and I got along great, they even brought up going on a date, which honestly cause me to panic a little since I never been on a date, this would be my first. But we managed to lock down a time, and we went on this date, we talked for hours and had dinner before I drove them home. We talked about meeting again, which we did next week. But just like Lav, Violet slowly stopped responding and without an explanation why.
Finally this is the thing that happened most recently, that is completely breaking me. This person I'll call Scarlet, and they live on the other coast of the US compared to me. We again met on an App, but we been chatting with each other almost daily for around 2-3 years at this point, and the past 2 Christmases we did gifts exchanges. While it was very unlikely we would have the time or reason to meet, being across the country, I considered them a great friend of mine that I could talk to about anything with. We have video and voice chatted, and I thought I knew them and who they were. Which is why this completely blind sided me.
I had a week of vacation time I had to use before a lost it, and I brought it up to them, and one thing leading to another we agreed to me flying over and visiting them for a week. I gave them 2 or 3 weeks to choose from and I took that week off. I spent almost 600 dollars buying tickets and travel items just to visit them and the city. And for the weeks leading up to it, we discussed what we planned todo for the week. When it can time to fly over, I got on the plane for the first flight and landed. Scarlet is a night owl and I assumed was still asleep when I first got on the plane, but sent them a message on discord before I left. when I landed for my lay over my next flight was delayed, so I tried to call them to let them know, but they didn't pick up, again chocking it up to them sleeping or napping, I sent a message on discord and got on the next flight. I didn't get any error message at this point to tell me something was wrong. My second flight went by, and I land and gathered my things from baggage claim, when I tried to contact them. And quickly found out they blocked me on everything.
This came so far out of the blue I didn't know what todo, and slowly started to spiral into a panic attack (or at least that's the only way I can explain it), my first ever. I was across the country, the person I was supposed to meet Abandoned me before I even Landed. and I didn't know what I was going todo. I just Broke, It was a good hour before someone even noticed my decent into this panic attack. I felt more helpless and alone than I ever had before. Luckily my airline was able to help me get the next flight home, and helped me through the panic attack, but I have been numb since.
I told myself that I wont give up, but its hard. I just feel that no matter what I do, I wont ever make true friends. Ill just be discarded the second they feel like it. I have been trying to make friends since the end of high school, and I can count on my fingers the amount of lasting connections I made, yet none of them really talk to me any more.
I'm lost and looking for any advice on where to go next. I'm tired and loosing the will to keep trying feeling like nothing is going to change. I'm tired of hearing about my siblings getting in and out of relationships while I cant even manage a friendship, especially when they lie about understanding about my situation.

12,000 BTU for a 1BD apartment, so it should be kicking butt. However, I do face the west. Air temp coming out gets as cool as 59F. Problem is that the compressor short-cycles. I gave it the usual spring cleaning this morning, cleaned all of the fins, plugged it back in, and still short-cycling. Resetting the button at the power cord didn't help. Temp outside at apx. 11:00AM when I put the a/c back in the wall around 77F. Temp inside home now 79F. So it's not cooling down like it should. It does a much better job at night once the sun drops, and once everything in the apartment is cooled, but it still short-cycles the next day, and is irritating. Seems like a 12k BTU should be freezing me out of here.

I have just under a month left at my job (I leave in early July) and I hate it here. My job involves working with teenagers (ages 16-19) and I love working with them, they are amazing young people.
The management suck though. They don’t look out for their staff (staff retention in my particular area has been terrible, like people don’t normally stay more than 1-2 years) which means that we burn out and the young people don’t get the support they need from us.
We work 60+ hours a week, 5 nights a week on call (1-2 night a week as first on call if there’s an emergency) and we can only be fully disconnected from work for 48 hours a week… They don’t care about our mental health and several of us have been off at various points this year for burn out and stress. There is clear favouritism within the hierarchy and it sucks for those of us that aren’t the favourites.
The bit I hate most is that the job itself would be great with fewer hours and better management. I’ve been back for a week since I took time off sick (8 days) and my team barely speak to me and always get me the worst jobs. People from other teams offered me more support than my own team. I love the moments I’m with the teenagers but I hate every moment I’m with the other staff on my team and due to the nature of my job, we have to live on site with the teenagers so I have to live with the staff too.

Okay so I'll keep this as brief as I can someone ported a mod called Frost's sword and shield made by SkyModsRus and after trying it out I thought it was a pretty decent mod and after looking the creator up on the Nexus I saw that they had a lot of other really interesting weapon mods and I was wondering if anybody here would be willing to Port several of them in a bundle to Xbox one the mods I'm looking for are the vampire sword, the archangel sword, the orc slayer sword, the ancient imperial sword, the curse of the night and the dragon storm sword. Long story short - truck hit the electric pole outside our house - PGE was here for 24 hours fixing is, which was good (bad part was they acted like it was a Saturday afternoon all night with the screaming, laughing and partying it seemed - incredible - forget any sleep).
All the wires for our AT&T service were yanked out of house and the immediate polls so we've had no service going on 4 days now.
Just mentioned to my wife I saw Verizon on the list of available internet providers and I happen to read a few reviews on yelp about them.
She had to go into the office today (she works from home full time normally) because we had no internet service, calls up Verizon, texts me that we're going to have verizon internet today.
Comes home with a little white box, plugs it in, we put the password into the TVs, computers and phones. Wella. Perfect internet. Fast and efficient so far. Couldn't have been easier.
Totally surprised.
Hoping this isn't an illusion becuase I'll be happily canceling the AT&T internet that hasn't worked for 4 days and can't seem to get anyone at their company to give two hoots about (trucks did arrive today to survey the situation, the guy was as nonchalant about the whole thing as he could be, couldn't give any time frame of when it'd be up or when they'd be working on it and didn't give a flying hoot about working from home normally - which is what I expect from AT&T). I've been working on a homebrew Exhaustion / Sanity system for my upcoming Curse of Strahd campaign that I thought I'd post here for feedback and possibly inspire some further thoughts and discussion.
Borrowing heavily on TheDungeonCoach 's Exhaustion tweaks (namely revamping Exhaustion to be a scaling -1 penalty) I wanted to also include a mechanic for "Mental / Spiritual" afflictions beyond psychic / necrotic damage.
Here's the synopsis of the mechanic.:
A character's Dread can be between 0 and 10 and a character can gain Dread in a number of ways, including:

• Failing a Save on an environmental effect or hazard that would usually give Exhaustion.
• Failing a Save on an effect from a Haunt, supernatural creature, or other horrific situation.
• Having your character's HP reach 0 and falling Unconscious.

Game Effects

• For every point of Dread that your character has:
  • You take a -1 penalty per level to any d20 rolls.
  • You reduce your Spell Save DC by -1.
• For every two points of Dread, you take a -5 penalty to your Movement Speed.
• At 10 points of Dread, your character either dies or goes mad, depending on what is most appropriate at the time.

Removing Dread

• During a Short Rest a character can remove 1 point of Dread by spending a Hit Die.
• During a Long Rest in an Unsafe Location (Wilderness, Dungeons, etc.) a character can spend Hit Dice (up to their Proficiency Bonus) to remove 1 point of Dread per Hit Die spent.
• During a Long Rest in a Safe Location (Determined by the DM) a character can remove as many Dread as they have Hit Dice available to spend.
• Some other items, effects, and situations may remove Dread, (to be determined)
