2023.06.09 23:51 Snowyfang24 Out of Video Memory
So I recently got a new PC Laptop, 32 go RAM, 1 TB storage Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 , and I just finished Chapter 1 when the game kicked me out, saying I ran out of video memory. I’d already looked up this problem and I increased the page file size, and changed the API from Vulkan to DirectX 12, but for some reason the game is still only limiting me to 4 gb of video memory. I really wanted to enjoy this game so if anyone has any solutions I’d be happy to try them.

2023.06.09 23:50 Morrandir Windows reboots reproducibly during gaming and OCCT power stability test
Specs:
- Windows 10 Pro 22H2
- Asus Maximus VII Hero
- i7 4790k
- 16 GB DDR3
- MSI GTX 1080 Ti
- Be Quiet Dark Power Pro P7 550W (BN072) ATX
So the system is nearly 10 years old, I justed updated GPU and RAM a few years back. I generally don't have any problems. Windows and NVIDIA drivers are up-to-date. However my BIOS is from 2014.
A few days ago when playing a game (Jedi Survivor) the system just rebooted without an error message. After retrying it always shuts down at the start of a certain video sequence, so it's 100% reproducible. Also when I run the OCCT power stability test (which I tried afterwards) the same happens after a few minutes.
I ran GPU-Z in parallel and there aren't any noticeable spikes just before the reboot. (My guess is that it just happens to quickly.) GPU temp is about 84°C, Hot Spot at about 98°C. So it doesn't seem to be a temperature issue?
From reading the Steam forums for the game and some other sources this could be a hardware issue where some component (perhaps GPU) asks for more power than the PSU can handle. CPU-Z says that the combined board and GPU power draw just before the reboot is at about 530 W. So that's quite close to what the PSU can handle. Is that normal in a way that the board and GPU try to take as much as possible?
What should I do next? Is there any way to determine which component is the problem? I don't want to buy a new GPU without being sure that it actually is the culprit. Should I just do a BIOS update?
Any help appreciated! :)

2023.06.09 23:11 like2lol PSU Wattage: 750 W vs. 850 W for 13700k and RTX 4070
I am struggling to decide between getting a 750 W PSU and an 850 W PSU. Every wattage simulation that I have ran suggests that the build will require less than 650 W. Is a 750 W PSU sufficient? It just seems like not enough wattage to me.
The build is below. Please note that I will only actually have one monitor and 32 GB of RAM for now. Please let me know if you see any other issues with this build.

2023.06.09 22:07 Puzzleheaded_Log3903 Build with strange behaviors, not POSTing and not turning on
Hello, it's the second time I have a problem with this build within the span of one year.
The specs are: SSD XPG SX8200 Pro NVMe, 512GB; CPU Ryzen 5 3600XT; GPU EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super SC Ultra Gaming, 6GB; PSU Corsair 550W 80 Plus Bronze CX550; RAM Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) 3200Mhz DDR4 C16; MoBo1 Asus TUF B450M-Plus Gaming; MoBo2 Gigabyte Aorus B450M
This computer I have a dual boot with ubuntu and windows10, my basic usage is for CSGO (win10), internet stuff and programming (ubuntu). I was using XMP to set the RAM clock to 3200Mhz and that is it. I have two motherboards and am currently using MoBo2 (Gigabyte Aorus B450M).
The issue: 1 - Basically the computer doesn't POST, no led lights, no signal of anything happening when I press the power button. Using the MoBo2 (Gigabyte Aorus B450M)
I was using the computer normally, turned it off and went to sleep. The next morning the computer did not start as I described earlier. The tests I executed was to check if the PSU was turning on by doing the paper clip jump then turning on, after this I checked each pin voltage with a multimeter which were correctly, right after I went to check the CPU power cable pin voltages which were also correctly. Then I disassembled everything from the motherboard, including the CMOS battery remaining only the CPU itself, 24 pins cable, CPU power cable and CPU fan cable. After this I tried again to turn on the pc by touching the PWRSW pins, again no success. After some time I decided to change the CPU fan by just connecting another fan on CPU_FAN pins and it worked! Right after I turned off the PSU, added 1 RAM stick, SSD, GPU, plugged the stock cpu fan in a SYS_FAN output, then proceeded to turn on the computer. It worked again! I was able to boot up, choose between windows or ubuntu, see my log in screen etc. I decided to turn everything off and go for the case mounting. After mounting everything, pressed power button and no signal of life again. Based on my finds it could be the case since some screws and motherboard's standoffs were rusty. One more time I decided to disassemble everything and test it on the top of the mobo's box. Unfortunately I was not able to turn on the computer anymore. Once again I checked everything, every cable, the PSU again, changed the fans and used a different one, checked if the MoBo was somehow physically damaged, even sprayed an electrical contact cleaner in the mobo but nothing could make it turn on.
This is the second time I have a problem with this build, the first time I had with the MoBo1 (Asus TUF B450M-Plus Gaming) which I'm gonna describe below.
2 - With the Asus mobo I had a problem with computer not starting, not POSTing, only the mobo leds were working. I did all the tests I commented above changed it and it did not worked anymore. I made tests with my friend's mobo, rams, ssd, gpu, psu but nothing could made it work, when using my stuff on his build everything worked. Based on this I condemned the mobo and bought MoBo2.
After trying everything with MoBo2 (gigabyte) I gave a shot at using the MoBo1 (asus) just because everything was disassembled. Turned out that using the CPU, 1 ram and GPU I was able to make the MoBo1 work! After the surprise I tried to stick the ssd to see if I was dreaming or not then reality came and the build did not turn on again.
I'm concerned about the CPU because it's the only thing I have not tried in these two scenarios. With MoBo1 the PC lasted working a bit than 1 year and same with MoBo2 now.
Does anyone have any clue, test or thought related to these scenarios?
