Look I’m not very experienced and I probably don’t know half of what I’m talking about. I’m more book-smart than street and work smart. I am not educated on many work laws. But I find it fucking angering that Outback Steakhouse, my new place of work where I’m a hostess, schedules me for only a few shifts a week that are about 6 hours each (part-time work), despite my being over 18 and having open availability. They know that if they schedule me for 8 hours, they have to give me a half-hour unpaid break. And all I want is 5-10 minutes to scarf down my food and they won’t even give me that (except one sympathetic manager). I was a minor at my last job, turned 18 while I was unemployed, but that job gave 18+ year olds 10 minutes to sit down and have a meal. Not to mention this place fed us up to $15 worth of delicious, fresh food per shift and all Outback can give is 50% off their greasy shit and free shitty bread. So I have to bring my own decently healthy, affordable meals and can’t even have a few minutes to eat them. I’m not even usually the only hostess on shift except after 7 pm since I close. Often there’s 3 of us crowding the little stand. Don’t know if I can do anything about it but I’d appreciate any advice. I have other places I can go work and I’m looking for a second job but the job market is tougher than it was when I was 16 in 2021.

i had an 18-top full of vegans last night. i work at outback. last night i also learned that the lack of vegan options at outback was entirely my fault and they will never dine at another outback ever again since EYEEE, a 23 year old female bottom line worker at a billion+ dollar chain restaurant, couldn't accommodate to their "vegan palette." which i totally get. if i were vegan i would be eating at steakhouses ALL the time:D $500 bill (somehow) and no tip. literally kick rocks.

November 7th, 2022: e-filed (at 2y9m after getting green card - marriage based). Immediately after filing: reuse biometrics notice. May 3rd, 2023: interview scheduled. June 7th, 2023: just had the interview, officer approved my pending I-751. Interview was super laid back and officer was very friendly. Waiting to come back in 2 hours for oath ceremony.
Total: 7 months from submitting application online to interview and approval.
I put “yes” for name change but officer told me if I want the name change, I won’t be able to do same day oath ceremony and have to wait for USCIS to schedule a date and a judge for me. I didn’t want to wait more so I said I will change the name on my own later. Any advice regarding changing your name after becoming a U.S. citizen appreciated.
